Hi there!
I have an HTC One S S4 and like all of you I have updated to jelly bean but I have been kind of disappointed because of some bugs/removed features that I have encountered in the use of the new ROM, here are some of the one I have found:
1) the new keyboard is laggy expecially because of the assisted writing. Also I don't like the new layout which doesn't have the "remove keyboard" button.
2) mobile wallpaper on the background in ICS move themself while sliding now in JB the background image is stuck, it's not moving while sliding through the pages of the home.
3) there is lag for the live wallpapers on the home...don't know maybe it's the rosie
4) equalization option inside the music player has been removed, the music player from stock rom 1.78 had it
5) meteo and music widgets has no more 3d effect while sliding through the home, it would be nice to have the old widgets back!!
Let's try to report here all of the bugs/removed features and also the fix for them ( always if they exists ). Actually I think that HTC isn't going to realese any more updates and this is disappointing.
THIS THREAD IS FOR FIX BUGS OF SENSE BY KEEP USING SENSE INTERFACE NOT BY USING OTHERS HOME LAUNCHERS

For me one of the most annoying things it's the keyboard too.
Also for the "remove keyboard" button that I use a lot, my problem it's that i made a lot of mistake during typing due to the dimension of the keyboard. I check with two phone near, one with JB and the other with the old ICS, and the keyboard of the JB it's smaller, and the area of a single character it's smaller!
USB PC connection. I like ICS because I can see files on my phone just like on any other removeable usb device.

You can use TWRP if you really need mass storage.
AW: Let's try to fix Jelly bean official ROM bugs !!!
This shouldn't be posted in the dev section.

Its not the best but if you want to keep JB Sense then thats all you can do for mass storage.
Two things:
1 - Wrong section. Don't be a noob (too late...).
2 - HTC's JellyBean sucks. There is already a solution to fix ALL of these issues: GO TO AOSP. It's 10.5378x times better. I'm never going back to Sense now...

Seriously...asking to fix what are minor appearance and usability bugs in Sense is pretty much a full time job. If you're complaining about the wallpaper and 3d effects in widgets, you might as well make a list of all the ways Sense looks like crap starting with the basic color scheme and jarring difference in appearance when AOSP blue peeks through Sense green.

If I would have fixed those bugs/things by using another launcher first of all I would have NOT open this thread and second I would have NOT bought an HTC device in the first place. I like sense and I want to keep using it, also I think that a lot of people think the same. If you want to use CWD or something like that you are free to do that and nobody has invited you here.
P.S. I apologize for posting in the wrong section

I had red on the jelly bean official thread that someone fix the lag on the keyboard by doing a fresh install with the RUU and wiping everythin ( I have updated via OTA ), but I have never tried because I was skeptical about this, have you tried??

Try jelly bean keyboard pro, no lag at all and you can choose the size of the keys and the keyboard
Hi,
On top of that mentioned, I'm working with Hebrew UI and not the only one who faced a FC on the calendar when trying to enter/change a meeting with a recipient.
The same procedure while on English UI is all fine.
Already opened a help ticket which was already escalated to the technical support as BUG.
In terms of official roms, I see no benefit with JB over say, ViperS 1.2.1 (ICS).
In fact, I think its inferior in almost every way (things like no USB Mass storage mode etc).
I ran stock ICS for quite a long time (compared to what I normally do) and was quite happy with it, nothing particularly wrong with it.
Then came the JB OTA, and the forums got flooded with issues :silly:
I'm going to format my phone to see if then the keyboard keep lagging...I just need some times to do that...
Can I ask, with the new JB update, do you lose the ability to connect the phone to a PC and access the SD Card (as a removable drive)?

when you connect the phone to the PC you will see that device on the pc explorer and by entering in it you can access the drive but you cannot connect it as a removable disk...indeed this is disappointing
By the way I have erased all the data and reset the phone completely, now the keyboard it's a little better, less lag but still worst of the one on ICS
well the keyboard is pretty much the same..a little better but still laggy, I want the old back!!

Ive just seen on Mike1986s ARHD thread that he has a rom in it with Sense 3.6. Having googles and had a good search i find no mention of this new iteration so i thought id start a thread for people to post new features and changelogs.
Ill make a list of features and things people find in the 2nd post as they are discovered.
Post away and let everyone know your findings!!
Changelog:
Recent apps readded in notification pull-down
Google search-bar is smaller
Setting new widgets is a bit different, you know when you are about to choose a special widget
Background in taskbar is a bit different
Slightly more grey finish to everything
SOME SCREENSHOTS HERE (thanks to loni90)

It's probably incremental. No visual changes, just under the hood.
I hope "location" or localisation in france will work

Yeah Mike has said there are some major bug fixes in 3.6 but no mention of visual changes yet. Still waiting for the upload to finish then we can check it out!
Looking forward to seeing the changelog
ok according to THIS thread there are no visual changes in 3.6, just bug fixes. Just thought id put it out there so people dont get their hopes up!!
yup i figured as much, i guesse their just moving closer to 4.0
What is the difference between 3.5 and 3.6?
I hope HTC woke up and brought back the scrolling wallpapers
I'm just curious as to why there would be a new firmware for 3.6 there wasn't a need for a new firmware when going from 3.0 to 3.5 and that was big changes (visual). Why the new firmware if its only a "minor " change? Hmmmm interesting *anticipation sets in*
I'm mobile right now
After a bit of arguing and commotion Mikes links are now back up! Head over to his thread, check the 4th post to download. Be warned though because of all the attention the thread's been getting my download is REALLY slow (might just be my connection though!!)

Actually, probably both together as Sense is so deep in ICS framework.

Thats cool tho.. But, i got used to sexy task manager tho... its still there ofcourse..
The initial Setup Wizard is also slightly different at the Google Account bit. I think it lacked the icons for things like GMail, Market etc. so it was more plain IIRC.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
sense 3.6 brings a more Android 4.0 design integration... not much but in some places. Like when you install something. An app, or set face unlock or anything. you see a google native look. I like it.
app logos are a bit smaller?
Google search-bar is smaller.
setting new widgets is a bit different, you know when you are about to choose a special widget.
background in taskbar is a bit different, and speeking of taskbar, you now got "recent apps" back again, been missing in sense lately. (but you´ve mentioned it already)
slightly more grey finish to everything, dont like it, seems washed-off. would like it darker, and more black-ish
anyone flashed? I'm running fine arhd, but I want also try new miui...
first impressions? faster? good looking? anything working?
Very fast, no fc so far, no random reboot

Want to try but servers from miui.com are slow as hell.....

Haven't really dug to much into the rom today (working) but a few things in no particular order:
1. Turning off wallpaper scrolling (Launcher settings > wallpaper scroll type) helps Launcher lag but doesn't alleviate completely.
2. Android keyboard will continue to crash until you go in and manually change default input to "touch input"
3. Some market errors.
4. New lockscreen for v4 miui is neat and not completely translated in this version (functionally fine).
5. Comes "overclocked" to 1.5.
6. Gps locked in about 10 seconds, first time.
Plus than miui, is a desensed miui skinned!
The miui framework is the only real miui thing in the rom
Radiofm, camera, keyboard and some settings are sense
So far it's alright. A bit sluggish and since this is my first MIUI, it's kinda odd, no app drawer, different icons, etc...
There are some chinese characters on the lockscreen, but the UI looks uber slick.
Feels a lot like an iPhone, in terms of restrictions.

I believe that's one of the main points of MIUI is the iPhone feel. However it does have some neat features built-in and the organization is slick and tidy.
My favorite is you can record your calls in the phone app.

Will have to check that out. It is a bit annoying having all your apps on screen. There's no way to hide them, unlike in the iPhone via SBSettings, or is there?
The launcher is a bit sluggish, but it's pretty stable to be used daily. Battery Indicator doesn't work, that sucks.

That's not much of help. The whole reason of an app drawer is for organizational purposes. It consists of two tabs, Applications & Widgets.
Nonetheless, my experience with MIUI v4 has been great. I've noticed that after several reboots (done purposely) the chinese characters translate themselves, I guess rebooting sets most things fine. The lock screen however still has some chinese. There are some Sense elements here and there, the keyboard, copy & paste functions but it's fine. I personally prefer it over any keyboard even AOSP. Videos play fine. As for the launcher, set the transition effect to [Classic (no overshoot)] for a smoother swipe between home screens.
I've attached a screenshot
I am currently running ARHD 6.6.4 and while it's great, I think I'm getting a little tired of Sense 3.6. My question is that, other than the usual superwiping and flashing the zip, is there anything else I need to do to? I already have the 3.32 firmware.

that option is very well supported when changing roms
What ROM's are you using?
I've installed this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25154538&postcount=8637
There is already several things that I miss from 3.6.
For instance the application list when pulling down the notifications screen.
Also do I miss the quick settings menu and the task manager. Are these missing only in this port, or is it actually removed as default from the original "Sense 4" ROM on "HTC One X" ?

You don't really need task manager.... Just long press the home ui button
Sent from my Sensation using XDA
I know that this is possible, but you get no cpu/memory statistics or possibility to force close the applications from the program list you'll brows from the home button.
The question was not for if i need them or not.
You don't need chocolate, but you want it and eat it non the less.
It's all about how you actually work with your phone and how you use it.
These features (program list, quick settings and task manager) were really nice, easy and quick to access. So I am really wondering what HTC are doing if they actually are removing nice to have features that's neither bloaty, confusing or in the way.
The question are still if this is actually the same for the original One X ROM and all the other Sense 4 phones, or if this is just removed from the ported ROM?

Hi !
ARHD is definitely a great ROM but one grows tired of the Sense 3.6 look. I really enjoy the deSensed look of some ROMs but those were still buggy. So, the nicest , most balanced alternative I found so far is SharkDrOiD S3 v1.4 which has, I think, all the features you're looking for.
You might want to try it out.
Cheers !
I want to know what the big difference between ics and jellybean that has everyone so razzled. I tried the jb tester from dax and I like it but.... it looks the same....
I am not sure what features are included in Jelly Bean in the ROM you're talking about.
However, main features are as below:
- Project Butter: Silky smooth UI and higher frame-rate, way less lag and freezing.
- New Notifications: The panel is way better, shows more details and is more interactive. eg. You can reply to an SMS from your notifications
- New Arrangement features: Widgets and icons make way for each other, so it's easier to move your stuff around and organize your home screens more efficiently
- Very minor improvements: Keyboard improvements, Better Play Store, Everything is more polished and cleaner
- Google Now: Swipe up on your lock screen and enter Google Now. Ask it how the weather's like, ask it how big a place is, you can even ask for pictures of dogs/cats or anything you like. You can ask it for a definition, and it'll read it out. If you ask for something it doesn't have a definitive answer for it'll always google it. You can ask it if there are Pizza places nearby, then Google will show you all the details of Pizza shops nearby. (Very cool feature)
Check Youtube videos for more information. But these are mainly the important functions and features.
Cheers

Fellahs if you're going to attack one another then find somewhere else to be. XDA is no place to act like 5 year olds!
I guess they also have a similiar framework according to CyanogenMod team...
Espicially porting...

I think ics and jb is same. There is no big difference between ics and jelly bean.
And some little bit features are included in jellybean. No lot of features is there in jelly bean.

Complete newbie here. After a lot of reading how-to's here and other sites, I managed to migrate from the stock to CM10.1 (JB 4.2).
Like almost everything except the rough 'screen scrolling stutter' for example in facebook, browser etc. The stock ROM on most devices (for example my other LG escape with android 4.0.4) seem to be buttery smooth. Is there a setting (would that be some kind of h/w acceleration?) or something to make it smooth?
Though I love the new ROM, this is almost becoming a deal breaker and makes me want to go back to the stock rom.
Thanks for any help.
ps: Sometimes, it is so bad that when I flick the screen up, it would try to go up and then rebound downwards...
What version of cm 10.1 are you on? You might try the latest nightly. If your browser is chrome, it seems to be an issue with chrome, others have reported that problem. I'm on the 7/25 nightly and it's running well. I don't use chrome though.

Try fixing permissions and then wipe dalvik/cache. if that don't work, redownload the newest nightly, CHECK MD5, reinstall
I flashed the stock 4.1 ROM back. It was not all that different from a scrolling smoothness perspective. So it seems that the other phone (LG escape) is doing a better job either by s/w (most likely) or h/w.
Given that, I moved away from the stock again, this time to slimbean, and I like it better than the cyanogenmod.
Thanks.

I would say more tasteful/minimalistic customization options. As a very small example choosing to display the battery percentage does not unnecessarily show a battery icon in addition, and also it was customizable to be of different colors while charging/not charging...
More importantly, the notification light via the hardware keys worked on slim bean and not with the cyanogen. This was nice since the skyrocket does not have a dedicated notification light.
Other differences I saw include:
1) The HDR option in the camera is missing in the slimbean, but that is understandable probably since there is no stock HDR option on the camera, and the HDR option that the cyanogenmod came with did not account for even tiny handshake and was unusable.
2) Asking to upgrade to the prime launcher (for $4) was a bit of a bummer with the slimbean. Only the upgrade allows to hide apps etc.
3) On slimbean, press and hold a app icon gives you a small menu to edit/remove/uninstall which is nice.
4) One slightly annoying thing on the slimbean however is the wake up delay after the screen turns off. I have a thread on that here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383338
5) On slimbean, I also like being able to turn off the screen by long pressing the menu button (configurable) instead of reaching for the power button.
6) The APN settings on cyanogen worked right out of the box, whereas on the slimbean I had to add a new APN and choose that to get data connection.

Like I said, do some more reading. Your issues are simple things.

As to 1-HDR isn't really possible with the Skyrocket's hardware due to its slow shutter speed.
As to 2-It would be extremely unethical, and probably illegal (not a lawyer, so I can't say for certain) for any developer to distribute the paid version of an app in a release without compensating said app developer for the distribution.
As to 3-Install Nova on CM and you get that option back.
