Heavy battery discharge + unable to charge battery till 100%, stuck at 83%... Done everything possible.. Using FlyROM v2 Kernel 3.0..

vishuhtc- You can try installing "better battery stats"(check out xda), or "GSam battery monitor", you will see what is killing it, if you don't get your answer with this apps check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093542 . Also if you are using super wipe, to flash roms, try flashing without it, or with it, but manually delete bootloader data, cos it doesn't do it automatikly
khanjan2khan- check out with the second app what voltage gets to your battery, it should be something like 4.000V or a little bit more, if it goes to that, you should also calibrate it or just delete battery stats from recovery, if it doesn't get to that............. try with another charger, or with a service center.

[Q] Battery drain on Galaxy 3 when on voice call & other battery problems

hello,
i have I5801 galaxy 3..
currently on kies Froyo firmware..
from since flashing to froyo ..
1) whenever i talk on phone (ie do voice call) battery drains out in even less then a hour when fully charged..
2) when kept for charging.. even if battery shows like 10% remaining .. within like a min or two.. battery indicator shows an 100% charged status.
and it drains out in like 10 mins if removed from charging
what i think is somehow froyo is assuming it's charged and is stopping the charging process.
i've rooted it, and tried calibration.. still no luck.. I've deleted batterystats.bin regularly, still a new file is created and no change in battery condition is seen
plz help.. too much frustrated
PS: i am not a pro.. so help plz

don't delete batterystats.bin do some full charge discharge then report.
tried that.. still no change
battery drained off in 30-40 mins..
does ATK make battery drain? somewhere along on some phone someone said that draining battery to nil and charging back cycle makes battery life even shorter.. dunno what to do..

Calibrate your battery after doing a full charge. And use as "normal" for few normal cycles, just like you usually did.

Hi
Try using light version of g3mod kernel instead of oc based.
You can flash your phone with my Rom and test after full battery charge. note some apps are battery drainer like tweetcaster etc due to continuous sync.
Try to stop those services and test your phone thereafter..it will show improvement. .and dont delete any battery calibration seetting once done after you flash thats all.
Do let me know if it not happens.
Cheers.

i flashed g3mod-2.0-nonoc
still when i try to put it to charge..
say currently it shows like 40% charge.. but as soon as i put it on charging (via AC) .. it shoots up directly to 90-100 in two minutes.... this should be wrong, right?
darin rate is also bad
it showed 100% charged and a 3 min call .. made battery level goto 45%

also how to convert parition to rfs.. is this about partitioning SDcard? coz if it is i've tried using without any card insert .. still same
i was thinking about G3mod 2.0 Beta2 kernel .. heard it uses very less battery..
but i've got a question ( and i can't ask in development forum as per post limitation) that does the 2.0 Beta2 uses less battery than the official samsung jp6 kernel? or should i try flashing that?
(now i may look like stupid asking these question)
first of all, sorry for bumping this after a month..
actually G3 wasnt with me from then, now it's back and problem persists
what i notice is that
1) phone when put to charge, shoots up to 100% in 5-10 mins, even when off
2) and same with the drain, it goes to 1% in 5-10mins
i checked out with battery, and it is fine they(samsung service center) say,..
plz help, i am at question as to what is the reason for this sudden rise and fall of battery level.

nope... i had used it before but now i am currently on I5801DDJP6 updated from 2.1 eclair via kies
its stock,unrooted, no modifications..
i'd calibrate battery, but the fact that it shoots up t0 100% in 10 mins
and what i guess is when phone detects 100% battery, it pretty much stops charging after that, thus battery starves ..
can something be done so that it actually gets accurate reading on battery status ?
Switch off your cell...let it full charge....
Then switch on the device and flash the cyanogen mod...
Its fast, stable and also increases the battery power...
had the exact same problem...did that and now works for almost two days...

cyanogenMod site doesnt show Galaxy 3 support...
btw u are saying ROM or kernel?? coz i like stock ROM of samsung as it's easy to use
@bscraze i contacted service center.. they say battery's good and doesn't need replacement...
hey i discharged until phone switched itself off couple of times
and charged it back to 100% while phone was off and then again when ON..
then, i increased brightness,turned on wifi,bluetooh,gps,etc and it dropped to 90% ..
as it is stock rom i think it was between 90-100% (coz with 1% mod)
but as soon as a call came, which was of 2:38 seconds, my phone battery dropped off to 3%
any guesses, why this is happening?

that battery fall is severe only when on voice call,

but a mere voice call with everything off (GPS,bluetooh, dataconntection) for not more than 10 mins, drains battery by 20-30%
any ideas about it's reason??

I have a similar problem with my G3 - I'm running CM 6.2
While I checked the OS takes 76% of the battery. I found CM6.2 better in handling FC than 7.1..Or should i just go back to Cm 7.1??
Experts, please advice
Hello everyone. its long since i posted here and thats bcoz of only one reason .. battery problem with my phone. i really was getting pissed off by the issue that i stopped posting here .. cursing my bad old phone.. my battery was lasting near abt 6-10 hrs lately .. finally i decided to..
1. flash eclair (stock) JG6 which came along at the time of my purchase and had reasonable to good batt back up. flashed that and i was like 18-24hrs of batt backup. Used it for almost one week. and as i was surfing thru our threads.. saw some really encouraging post abt Kyrillos 9.3 and its battery backup. so..
2. I flashed kyrillos 9.3 for last 3 days .. and did the calibration on my very first charging after flashing 9.3.. yesterday got almost 36 hrs of batt backup .. right now m on 84%.. unplugged @ 8pm yesterday .. it 10:15am right now in india. so its around 14 hrs .. which i feel is quite good considering my past exp with my battery ..
I dont know what actually has done the trick or its illusion to me . but after flashing eclair my phone performance has gone up smartly.
Using 9.3 NON-OC. with a2sd enabled.
i hope it can help ppl abt our all confusing battery issue .. if not .. at least it can throw some light ...
Press the thanks button if u find it helpful. Hve a gr8 day.

Battery Dies Quick, WHY??

my NS4G with MIUI 2.6.1 and Matrix 20.0 Kernal goes to 98% as soon as i pull off the charger. if i use it for 45 minutes unplugged its dead. if i use it while its plugged in, it will die!
should i get a new battery?
Yeah that doesn't happen to me... I would try a full wipe and reflash the same ROM (or a different one) and reflash kernel.
If that doesn't work then I would try another battery because that drain seems abnormal
I just wanted to say that I have been having similar battery problems. Using the exact same ROM and Kernel as the OP, today my phone died within 6 hours of use, with the screen having been on for no more than 50 minutes. I also turned off data, and sync during this time, and had my screen's brightness at the minimum.
I've wiped and flashed AOKP b-38 today, and the consumption seems to be much better.
Any thing to help?
thought i was the only one.
is it the kernal?
or is it because its time for a new battery?
How could I test to find out which it is...
Swap kernels. Probably easiest way to test.
Very possible its just an old worn out battery.
Sent by pocket technology.
hoping its just an old battery.
ive switched to CM9 / TouchWiz mod thinking it might be the ROM
im going to use the stock kernal from CM9 for a day to see if i could tell a difference.
ordered a new battery anyways.
saw on a forum somewhere a guy complaining about this problem since he switched to ICS ROMs .. hopefully thats not the case because i LOVE 4.0.X

Well in that case, what have you got installed? If you have apps constantly syncing, that could be part of the problem. What are your battery stats saying is using the most battery? My phone gets warm, but as expected since its being used. If its not being used,it could be a rogue app or the phone could be constantly searching for a good signal.

i have barely any apps.
i only have facebook, xda, sportscenter and instagram installed besides GApps.
i have the problem even before i download apps as i just flashed CM9
also its so bad, that if i start using my battery when its @ 10% PLUGGED IN, it will eventually die on me. even though its charging..

Huge Battery Drain

Hi,
I am on a rooted stock rom DDLF2. Couple of weeks i am observing high battery drain though none of the apps are running. I dont put any fancy live wall papers or widgets. I have stopped all the background apps like google play, maps etc and Background data unchecked. I always us GSM only and do not use any wifi or data network. Screen brightness is at around 15%. I use the phone very less hardly get around 5 to 6 calls in a day lasting 1 or 2 mins per call. If i charge the phone fully to 100%, after 8 to 9 hours the battery is coming down to 30%. After it comes down to 15% the lock screen shows it is charging with the percent symbol even though it is not connected to the charger.
I tried resetting the phone, cleared the dalvik cache and the cache partition but no use. I suspect this is a software bug.
Has anybody faced similar problem? Any solution would be much helpful.

Have u tried clearing battery stats..?
Do it once. then charge your phone to 100%.. allow it to discharge it to 20%..
Again repeat the cycle for 3-4 times..
this should solve the problem hopefully..

Yes i already tried it. Cleared the battery stats. But did not solve the problem. Surprisingly the moment battery charge drops to 15% it starts showing the line "Charging (15%)" on the lock screen even the charger is not connected to the phone. Not sure what is wrong.
So i am thinking of downgrading the version. Can anybody suggest me any good stable stock rom which can be used for India (since i am in India) particularly with good battery life.

Even i was feeling that phone's battery is dead, but trust me, I reverted back to DDKP3, and installed BAM kernel .. I find battery backup much improved, I have kept GPRS on for 5 hours now ..11% battery drained. On the LF2 ( for india without BAM ) and on the ICS drain was huge.. like in 6 hours i have seen drain more than 45%
I have even bought new battery also.. but testing on Old battery only.. You can try combo of DDKP3+ BAM or DDKP3+titanium!.
Update
It's 8 hours 11 mins, GPRS on since phone was charged to 100%, battery is drained to 86% ( 14% drained) Display On for 7 mins 21 seconds!
It seems like my old battery is still well and can work!

[Q] Is it battery or ROM or Kernel issue ?

Hi,
My phone is almost not charging full or it doesn't show as such.
This is detailed breakup of my issue :
I put phone at charging exactly at 2pm at 2%
3pm it was at 36%
4pm it was 54%
5pm it was at 64%
6pm it was at 73%
7pm it was at 82%
7:30pm it was at 84%
after this I removed phone from charging and rebooted it. Surprisingly it showed 100%.
Battery doesn't last more than 12hrs no matter what I do. I am using Greenify too.
BT, GPS, Auto-Sync, 3G, etc all are off. WiFi On 24hrs.
Screen-off battery drain is also around 8-9% per hour.
Can I do/try something on software side before I order a new battery ?
Right now I am on Carbon ROM (20131008) with stock kernel, 1512, Ondemand, SIO, No OC. Its same on every ROM I tried except seemingly on ARHD 7.3 (used it less than 24hrs. Its rock solid and smooth.)
I would greatly appreciate any help/advice !

this is a rom issue i think as this has also happened to many people and and this happens after many days on a single rom (and u make the rom unstable)
the solution is simple just backup ur data and full wipe and flash rom again and u will be good to do for next many days (if u keep the rom stable)
I flash ROM almost every alternative day and I always do Full-Wipe

Battery Kernel issue
I am new to xda. I actually flashed a new rom after that phone doesn't charge after switching off. Could it be a kernel issue or the rom's issue. I have a Canvas HD. And sorry if this is not the place to ask the question. I couldn't find any other thread related to this. Please help.
Similar issue here. My charging often stops at about 80%, but after a reboot the battery's full charged.
My battery also gets drained very fast, but it's about 2,5 years old so that's probably the problem.
With the CPU clock speed @1,5GHz and the GPU @266MHz i get about 15h +/-2h of battery life.
I keep battery saving ON most of the time. Bluetooth, GPS, 3G etc all OFF. WiFi ON for about 1-2h per day (if i would keep it on longer, my phone would be dead in 4-5h).
I'm using ViperS 5.2.1 right now (full wiped before install). I got the same experience on ARHD and previous ViperS versions.
Tested the charger - it's fine.
I was wondering if anybody else got an old battery like mine and how long does it last on full charge
Hi guys,
I have a HTC Sensation XE that i bought three days ago (second hand) and i have the same problem with the battery % not reading correctly.
Now this is what i observed:
- the charging is very slow - from 20% to 40% in 2-3 hours
- after 2-3 hours of charging if i reboot the phone the charging LED turns green and the battery reading says 100%.
(i tested to see if actually it got charged to 100% and it did, i turned everything on, watched a HD movie, played some games and after 5-6 hours of playing with it i still had 50%)
- tested the battery to see how fast it drains from 10% to shut down and it went on at full brightness and everything on for about an hour and something so this means there might not be any problems with the battery
- so the reading is wrong because the battery is charged after a few hours.
- i did a test to see if the same thing happens when the phone is off and i left it to charge for 2-3 hours and when i got back the charging LED was still orange. When i started the phone the LED went off and back on as green. The battery was 100% charged.
- If the same behavior happens in off mode it means it's not a ROM problem (by the way from what i know the phone is stock, the guy never did the rooting.....that's what he told me - can't know for sure).
- from my electronics background it seems the phone updates the battery information sometime at boottime. When charging, the software keeps the charging LED on because it's supposed to charge due to incorrect data but the hardware charging controller drops the charge current because the the battery is full. So this can be an incorrect sensor reading by the software or an incorrect feedback given by the hardware controller.
So what do you think, what can cause this.
Should i try rooting the device?
And i tried factory reset from android and factory reset from bootloader and the problem is still there.
Ok so i did the following:
- unlock the bootloader
- flashed CWM
- installed superuser
- wipe battery stats
- wipe device
- calibrate battery with an application from market
The problem is still there.
I figured that when in bootloader first thing you can read is the S-ON/S-OFF. Before doing the unlock it was "LOCKED" and after "UNLOCKED".
I did a relock and the status changed to "RELOCKED" so this means the guy that had the phone before me didn't root which again means the theory that says this problem occurs when the user tries to root the device is not true because it seems the behavior is observed on an unrooted device.
I will dig deeper maybe i find more ideas on what i can do.
I'm running out of software options so this is pointing at something hardware.
I'll get back with updates when i find something else.

I'll get back with updates when i find something else.

probably it is htc's bug
the same happened to me after rooting the device
For now I will try to make some full cycles of the battery and see if anything changes. I usually use the phone at work and by the time I get home it's almost empty. Plug to charger and till morning it's full with a green light. I will have to monitor the charging times and get back with results.

Well i did some full charging cycles and nothing changed, still the same long charge time(read by the phone) and with restart it bounces to 100%.
I had the original Android 4.0.3 with Htc Sense 3.6 at the time. Got 4EXT recovery and an 4.0.4 rom with Htc Sense 4.1. Did a full wipe and battery stats , installed the new 4.0.4 rom but the problem persists.
At this point i think the battery is the problem so the next thing to do is to change it. I will get back after i change it, hopefully sometime in november.
After a long time I managed to change the battery and after a few tests it seems the problem is still there. The time on battery improved as I expected but everything else is the same which means it's something hardware defective in the phone. Also did some tests with android 5.1 and the same results. Meantime I sold the phone and got a Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo. Hope this research gives some answers to someone at some point. Cheers.

help Rom mess up my new battery

Bought a new battery
Used NamelessRom for a two days, and now my battery goes down to 50% normally, after 50% the screen goes black and phone power offu
If I try to power on, can't get even the screen on. Connect the phone to charger, boots up at 0%, instead of 50%
Go back to stock, and tried to calibrate the battery in any ways posible (supercharger scritps, leaving the phone all night charging, battery stats erased) and no luck
The voltage of the battery full charged is 4180mv (the highest value I have reached) and the minium with 0% es 3476mv
What happened?
PD: Also recieved a DM from @kael.yagami and he said the 4.4 roms have messed up with two of his batteries too.
Greetings;
I've never tested the nameless rom. And i got the same problem.
And yes.. I also had a 4.4 rom before.
Yesterday i tried:
delete the battery stats under cwm; installed "battery calibration" application.
Charged the device until full; pressed "battery calibration" button (inside the app; then gave an exaustive use to my device so i could drain my battery faster; charged the device again and so far seems ok. Im going to give another exaustive use to see how it behaves.
I also noticed (yesterday) that at reboot battery percentage gets mad by displaying:
i.e last night from about 50% (52% to be precise) to 5% instantly just with a reboot.
I went: wtf!?
I am using DDLF2 rom.
There may exist an explanation for this.
But it is too much coincidence to be the 3rd person that has installed a 4.4 rom.
It is possible though...
A rom that was designed for specific hardware/devices can make different harware and battery usage.
Due to that reason it lead me to try some alternatives.

I used kk roms in my sl since the beggining and dont have problem with battery. Its your new battery original? May be you dont know that wiping battery stats.bin you are misscalibrating your battery, thats why you have wrong indication level. Read a bit about that.

I always thought battery stats were only "Battery Usage Information".
Didn't knew that it could mess the calibration. Wich Acording to this website:
http://m.androidcentral.com/wiping-battery-stats-doesnt-improve-battery-life-says-google-engineer
There are no effects on battery. And like i said: status info only.
I've been searching for that but couldnt find info regarding de-calibration when batterystats is deleted.
I actually do it whenever i flash a new rom. Never had a problem until now. But i dont believe it is due to the Battery stats.
Wakelocks maybe?

Ok i found my missing part of this in wich i didnt knew.
It is confirmed that battery stats stores information.
By deleting the battery stats there is no harm for your battery.
What happens when you delete the battery stats is you will delete all the infomation the battery uses to perform better.
Erasing battery stats and
Recalibrating is good when you flash a different rom. But not necessary.
The catch is whenever you delete the stats you will have to let the stats be build again. And that will take several days (if not weeks or months of charges).
Only then battery will perform on its best.
I can confirm this fact with my other phone.
It started to last 5 times longer than the day i bought it.
In this case to be precise since the last batterystats. (it was in January).
I dare to say that my other device lasts until the very last bit of battery. Wich is awsome!
Note that you can recalibrate by letting your device discharge completely (until it wont even turn on); charge it untill 100%; done.
Please press "Thank" button if it helped you.
