Hi all. I'm new too htc and this site so please be patient. My sister in law recently gave me a htc desire s. It was locked to meteor (I'm in dublin). I did a factory reset on it and it basically unlocked it. The problem is that it now connects to my tesco mobile sim but thinks that it is roaming with another network. Is there a way to reset this? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Just seeking some help, I've recently got a HTC Mozart and I've upgraded it to unlocked Mango. Problem is I bought it locked to Orange UK and I'm with Vodafone. I've just today got an unlock code and it's worked in accepting the SIM card but there is no signal and I can't call anyone. My contacts and messages have come up though.
Any ideas of what the issue could be?
Thanks for Looking.
Have you tried using the connection manager to switch it over to Vodafone?
Yes, I've switched it to Vodafone Contract on connection manager. I've rang vodafone to see if they are maybe blocking the signal as it's a new phone but because the sim works in my old phone they say it's 100% a problem with the phone.
Could it be that I typed in the code after I had upgraded to custom unlocked mango ROM?
And also I hear you have to type the unlock code twice on orange phones but I can't type it in again, there's no option to.
This phone was bought less than a week ago, I can and am considering returning it. I've rang HTC and they think it's a problem with the handset.
I too just got this phone like you, from orange, had it unlocked and have come to the conclusion it just doesn't work on vodafone.
When I did a search for networks on the phone tmobile, orange and 3 uk all came up but not vodafone. I also tried my 3 uk sim and it worked fine. i'm now back on my blackberry as it's the only phone i have which will work with the vodafone sim.
the phone i am keeping. vodafone i am not.
Thanks Livett, that's what I was thinking I tried a t-mobile sim and it worked fine. I think I'm going to change it for an Omnia 7 as I've still got a couple of months of my contract left and my other phone is a £10 vodafone branded phone. Worst phone I've ever experienced. I won't be staying with vodafone though.
Hi, I just thought i'd give you an update.
I updated to Mango last night on this phone and managed to get the sim working. It flits between Edge, HSPA and GPRS connections. Do Vodafone even have 3G? Either way it doesn't work, it's atrocious. I managed to send a text to myself on HSPA, recieved it, picked up the handset and then the signal dropped.
I think it's safe to assume Vodafone does work on this phone as it's unlocked, it's just Vodafone is so **** at coverage it's not even worth it.
Thanks.

Have you set it to 3G only under network settings? Try toggling 2G only and see if it works.
solved
thanks guys was just be being a d==k and not making sre the connections were pressed on the black signal cable was loose!
Hi guys,
I have same problem with my HTC Desire S. Got it from eBay.
It is not asking for any simlock codes so i'm takeing it to b simlock free.
But the problem is "no service"
So i did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429215
But still nothing, and yes, i have my back cover on
The only thing that makes me sad is, there is a little "x" where is should show reception.
I have checked it on http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr
and its sayin that it is fine. Phone is not locked or anything.
Plz help
Hi to all! =)
I have a very annoying problem with the mobile data connection with my SPANISH HTC ONE X.
My ONE X was a VODAFONE ROM, and a simlock, so i payed for a simlock unlock code to use my htc with any operator. My problem starts here.
With a VODAFONE HTC ONE X ROM, I can't get data connection with my actual operator. I called to it, asked for the configuration, and even they bring me to a special secret menu to select the radio band, and etc. But no joy...no data mobile. It appears "ON" but it also says "disconnected"
So...i don't know how to do.
Hardware problem? Or I have to debrand the phone?
Thanks a lot

Try asking in the International One X Forum. This one is for the US Non Tegra 3 variant.
Hi,
A friend just arrived from the US with a HTC Inspire from AT&T. He got it unlocked, and phonecalls work just fine with an Austrian SIM card, however Internet does not.
I made sure the correct APNs were entered, and that Mobile Internet is turned on, but no luck.
Any suggestions?

Inspire 4G has different frequencies than Europeans...that can not be solved with any custom rom....it is just a hardware issue. You might get edge at best...but never 3G.
Hey All,
I have a Model: HTC C625a (PM23300) originally a Bell Canada phone but unlocked and being used on ATT. Does anyone know if I could flash the ATT factory ROM on this phone? Bell have been slow with any OTA updates and I'm still waiting for portico. As far as I know, the radios are the same.
Anyone done this? Cheers.
Crossing paths again . Did you ever get the Portico update pushed from Bell?

Hey! Yep, finally got it but now this tethering thing is bugging the hell out of me... maybe its time for a new phone???
Just FYI guys, I have a Bell 8X on the Bell network, and can tether without any problems. Not sure if LTE works, there's no LTE yet where I live.
I also have an 8X on Bell, tethering works, and have reached as fast as 18 down / 14 up, with 67ms ping in central Vancouver.
I have a Bell 8x on the Fido network and I can tether on LTE as well.
Sent from my C625a using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
The problem is that the phone would tether but would not let the tethered device tunnel through to the internet. It would connect to the devices no problem just no internet connectivity.
I called AT&T and while surprisingly helpful, they didn't have a clue. Then I got in touch with HTC, they tried a couple things and suggested that my phone had a problem and while I could send it back in for "repair", they would just send me a duplicate Bell phone. It is in fact still under warranty. Now that sounded like a plan right up until they told me that it would then be locked to Bell when I got it back and that this new DCMA law now says that only the carrier (Bell in this case) can unlock a carrier branded phone. How do you like that?
So, I have retired my 8X and gone back to a Lumia. I really did love the phone and I hope that HTC brings out a couple new WP8's in the next few months. Something maybe in a 32GB and with SDHC card support??
Anyway, good luck to you all. It is a great phone but I'm not going to buy another new one. This is my second 8X as it is. I'll just wait and see what's next...
Cheers.
did you try factory reset? my wphone did this i ad to activate tethering at my carrier , then do a reset
