[Q] I have CWM and TWRP installed, is that OK? - LG Optimus 3D

Hi guys.
Two weeks ago I upgraded my P920 from stock GB 2.3.5 to xbsall's ported ICS 4.0.4 and installed ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.5 (Touch).
This weekend I flashed xbsall's custom ICS v5.2, which includes Team Win Recovery Project v2.2.2.1 (Touch).
Now I have both Recoveries installed and working!
I can access CWM through 3D+Power+Vol UP and TWRP through 3D+Power+Vol Down.
Is this normal? Will this create any problem?

I had the same setup only with acuras touch recovery instead of the 6.0.1.5
I flashed stuff from both, backed up and restored from both with no problems that i had knowledge of. Im trying darkroom international v2 now which i flashed from xbsa5.2 through the same touch recovery after wiping cache/dalvik/data/format data/format system...no problems what so ever, still have recovery and running fine.

I think you have one recovery installed on separate partition and the other one on system

True that. On Xbsa5.2 twrp recovery is on system partition. Both will work but twrp will disappear if you wipe your system. Cwm should stay on recovery.

Does that mean it's ok and no problem will appear?

If you flash a new rom through twrp and format system you will just loose twrp. Same if you wipe system with cwm but either way you will still have cwm on your recovery partition. You can easily change that by flashing twrp through the fast boot tool though if you want it back but you can only have one recovery on the recovery partition at once. XBSA rom is just awesome enough to have the temporary recovery included on system. No matter what you do though, they all will work fine but i repeat if you wipe system you will loose the twrp recovery you have now. Until you do though you have both so use whatever you like

I'm confortable with CWM, so there's no problem if I loose TWRP.
Plus, can I delete TWRP to gain system space?

That I dont know nor do I know how to do it

The nvflash put you back to stock download the rom you want boot into recovery wipe cache data flash rom flash gapps .should be good you might need to reflash cwm recovery if you pushed the wrong button in nvflash.

Do you have an S4 or S3 phone
Did you check md5 for good/bad download
Did you wipe all including System 2x in recovery
Which recovery are you using
I have s4 and I didn't check the md5 cause all 4.2 ROMs have the same problem for me,i have twrp
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
which version twrp. some of the later 2.3's had issues
otherwise if you are wiping all and fastbooting boot, not sure
fastboot boot after rom and fastboot erase cache before booting onto rom

I'd reccomend clockworkmod over twrp, had more bootloops with twrp in the past.
Also, good alternative rom is dark jelly cm10.1 with android 4.2.1 stable and reliable, using it a pretty long time.
Easy install via an automatic installer program called aroma installer, no need to flash boot.img here

yes, ck your md5's. i use es explorer and it is easy
as john said you can try another rom, but still ck md5 and wipe system as part of your wipes
if you flash a rom with aroma, don't wipe in recovery and aroma. only one. i prefer recovery
as for cwm or twrp. everyone has their favorite. it is my understanding though cwm hasn't kept pace on updates with later version roms afaik
hope you get it--

[Q] Switch from CWM to TWRP ?

Hi all -
I have a bit of a problem, and was wondering if anyone could help. I am rooted of course, and I run [JUL13-Build80] Domination ( from Owain ).
I had CWM v5.0.2.0, but I like TWRP a lot so I decided to install TWRP ( latest version for LG-G2x ) via goo. Well what happened was, when I boot into recovery it still booted into CWM, but then I would click on reboot from CWM and it would then boot to TWRP. Well I could live with that...but... now I can not get back into TWRP at all. I can only get to CWM.
So my question is .... what to do. I would like to use TWRP as my recovery and not CWM. What should I do at this point ??
Thanks
Interesting problem. I am assuming you have tried flashing TWRP again to see if it solves the problem? Do you get any error messages?
Edit: I think you should try nvflash to load TWRP. That should fix it.

If I may ask, what exactly is the difference between twrp and cwm?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
It sounds like twrp got flashed to your boot partition.
If you uses something like
"dd" "if" "twrp-image" "of" "dev/block/mmcblk0p5" you wrote twrp to your boot partition. This phone has a protected recovery partition accessible only via NVflash. Flash a kernel or ROM, and use NVflash to flash the twrp image.

There is a Modded version of NVflash somewhere in the g2x thread that has tarp in place of cwm. The OP is mustangtim. Ill see if I can find a link.
Here's the link to TWRP in our Devices forum. The link to mustangtims nvflash download is right under the install instructions. This modded NV flash is the only way I could get TWRP to work correctly on my device.

Can you get back to recovery to flash a new ROM?
I have flashed many ROMS recently to try them out and also had a similar issue with one or two of them.

Not sure what is going on but here is how I flash a ROM from recovery and so far so good.
Copy rom file to external sd card in phone.
Do a full factory wipe, cache and dalvik.
Install rom.
Install Gapps if necessary or desired.
Wipe cache and dalvik again.
Reboot
Note that some roms will give you a recommended list of what to wipe if doing a new install or upgrade of that rom, if such instructions exist its best to follow those instead but the above has worked for me for a while now.

That's what is advised to do before flashing a completely different ROM anyway by some. From recovery, flash the ROM again, and if the ROM is not corrupted (check md5 or whatever comes with it), you should be good to go.

[Q] First time flashing a ROM, doesn't seem to be working.

I have a rooted Optimus Dynamic (2.3.6) I am trying to flash FroyoPro 1.5, I have followed the instructions (Just flash it with CWM) and it does not seem to be working, CWM gives the whole log, says it installed then to reboot, I do and my phone is still stock.... Very much a noob so any help would be appreciated....
Hello well usually when installing a new ROM the recommended method is to flash stock ROM via flash tool on a computer and DO a full wipe clear partition and dalvik wipe as well then flash custom Kernal through flashtool which most of the Time comes with cwm then boot phone go into cwm and then flash the custom ROM
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
The first part doesn't make sense to me, but do a full wipe then flash froyopro?
Sent from my LG-L38C using Tapatalk 2
If you DO wipe you have to flash a stock ROM after wipe otherwise phone well hang on boot logo
