[Q] Pretty sure i just bricked my phone - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I was trying to flash a new rom. [ROM][VRBLK3][4.1.1][RLS15] GalaxyMod ¯`•._ Universal | Tweaks. I was using Rom Manager, I tried to instal the first time and the phone froze inside the aroma installer. I pulled the battery and restarted the phone. I went back to my current rom with everything wiped. I then tried to flash again. Everything went fine until the phone rebooted. I get a quick samsung screen. Then Samsung Galaxy S III. then the screen just goes blank. I have tried to reboot into recovery but it does the same thing. Also into download mode. Someone please help

If you would of read rls15 is having problems booting.
You have to pick developer's choice in Aroma.
And as soon as your phone boots up disable ripple effect.

I just told you what to do? Flash the rom with developers choice and when it's done booted up disable ripple effect before the phone goes to sleeps and locks.
And maybe you just didn't ewad enough because it there was about a hundred complaints of the same exact thing, I'm not kidding.

Your phone will evebtually recognize to get into recovery mode, keep trying since you phone can at least boot up.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

That is because you didn't do a clean install (wipe data cache, dalvik cache, factory reset and system). Also you didn't choose developer's choice in the aroma installer. Also both recovery mode and download mode do work as I encounter the same problems as you it took a couple of battery pulls to do it.

[Q] Phone Frozen!!! (Solved)

Ok so within 20 minutes of doing a nandroid backup and restore my phone freezes at the main loading screen after i press reboot phone. Is there anything i can do to fix this. Please someone help.
Do battery pull, then three button combo to get to recovery, clear both cashes , factory reset , wipe the system, remount the system, reinstall your from fresh from the SD card. Sorry but you Android back up is some how corrupted, you can try to do an advanced restore of just your data from it, only if you are coming from the same ROM.Good luck.

Since you're in download mode, flash a one click file with a modified kernel with cwm. I think eollie has a thread for it somewhere. That'll get you back to stock GB plus CWM.

right now i am using heimdall one click with a stock rom so i will let you know if this works
Well i was able to do the one click but now when I go to download an app it says error package file is invalid or something like that
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
If you are having problems using heimdall you could always try Gremlin Remover just download it make sure you have the right drivers installed, install GR then run, the plug your USB in , wait for the top left bar to turn yellow the press start. Then eat lunch or read a book, watch a good show when it says completed. Then you'll have a stock GB with CWM ready to go.

Problem with SGH-T989 (VTR Chile)

Hey guys:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus (SGH-T989)
it seems to be different than other T989 i´ve seen by net.The firmewire that i have is T989WXLE4 and i don't find it anywhere.
The think is i try to flash with a rom (CM10) wich didn't work. When i flashed it everything was going ok until it stopped in the bootloader. From CWM i tried then to factory restore but i couldn't, also tried to flash it again, but it stopped in the middle of the process, Passes the same with all the items on the list of CWM except restore from a file. For my lucky i had the file, but the process also stopped in the adroid security thing.
Now i can star it in Android, but many things doesnt work like it should be, USB is one of those, the PC doesn't recognize my phone, either the phone recognizes the PC, but it charges. And i can not go odin mode, goes straight to CWM.
I need help guys pls on factory restore/stock.

[Q] Samsung Skyrocket help

I know there are threads on this but i guess i could start a recent one.

Now is when you're going to have to do some reading. You will need to odin the stock firmware. Go to the development forum and look for the stickies by vincom. They're you'll find one that will tell you how to return to stock. That's a good thing, because you should never flash if you don't know Odin.

Were you able to get into download mode and connect to Odin and did Odin recognize your phone? You do know how to use Odin?
Were you able to access recovery as suggested by using the power button and volume button combination and maybe restore your back up? You did do a backup before starting?
I don't remember where it is but their are well written steps on how to do both. As someone else suggested read and research. As someone suggested to me "Don't trying to flash custom ROMs until you know how to use Odin to be able to get out of trouble."
Just a suggestion you probably know more about this than I do please don't take it the wrong way

Still, after all this time with the device and people don't know you don't have to hold the keys that long. Device off--->hold power and both volumes until you see the Samsung screen... You can then let go of everything.

For what its worth when I have a problem I can't find the answer to I Odin back to stock when phone settles I do a factory reset to remove everything on phone. If it reboots okay I start loading everything back into it.
If I run into problems I go into download and Odin back to stock and start over. Sometimes it takes me more than one attempt.
I'm sure their is a better way but I'm no expert. For the most part going back to stock has been the answer then go from their. Hope your phone is not hosed. Good luck.

You don't have to go into recovery to do a factory reset you can go into settings.
A hardware problem is something that will have to be answered by someone way smarter than I.
I use CWM recovery and when I first started flashing I installed it using Odin.
Sorry I have run out of ideas Good luck.
Edit : just throwing this out their you could try replacing the SD Card.

Ok guys i have flashed near every rom this phone has ever had and never ran into a bootloop problem. So i had CH 10.2 on my phone for 2 days with no hiccups. Then today after letting my phone die completely "battery death" i pluged it in and now it keeps bootlooping and i cant get it into recovery if i hold down volume down + power it loops at the galaxy s 4g starting screen. If i let it go of the power button at the correct time it just bootloops. anyone have any ideas?

Anyone have any idea what could have caused this just so i know what to or what not to do in the future ?
Try using adb

To get to CWM recovery on this ROM, simply download 'Quick Boot' application and use it to get to recovery. It works.
Apex launcher crashes as well. I think issue is ROM related. Also, ROM is very heavy, I couldn't find why.
Edit: ROM is snappier after using CM performance features and letting cache do its work.

I got through the splash screen on 1st try.
You should check if you worked according to ROM instructions.
I usually always format system as well as wipe everything twice before flashing any new ROM.
I was referring to :
1. the lack of recovery button on power menu.
2. The inability to use hardware keys to get to recovery after flashing this ROM.
Heimdall One-click (in download mode) and try again.
You're right - I missed that option in developer features - it's called 'advanced reboot options'.
I'd suggest you get to download mode - one click heimdall and reflash this ROM after dowble wiping dalvik, cache, and format system.
I've flashed numerous ROMS to my phone before but have never ran into a problem like this.
-I went back to stock
-flashed CM7, as recommended from the OP
-downloaded and flashed CM10.2 but it gets stuck around 75%
I've been on this thread, and the rom thread as well as waiting a bit, hoping to find a solution or it figures itself out. Nothing! Is it unsafe to pull my battery when its at 'Installing update' (75%) for an extended period of time?
Also, i am on CWM 5.0.2.8
Thanks
I flashed it from ICS (Ultragen) and had no problem.
You can try that as well.
