Help identify this tablet. - General Questions and Answers

So my neighbor brought me a tablet they got locked out of, its a little chinese device they bought downtown.
I tried all sorts of combinations of the buttons while booting to no avail. It has a "reset" button (doesnt say reset just a pinhole entrance) next to the volume rocker.
No model number, no brand name, googled/ebayed/amazoned for something similair or near identical, googled reset methods for those tablets, tried them, nothing.
Been at it a few hours, with zero progress.
Please help. :crying:

Use any app like antutu benchmark . It will show the system specs & information.

[app] TheftAlarm

TheftAlarm
Version: 1.8(Last free: 1.7)
Last update: 06.03.2011
Interface languages: English, Russian
Description:
The program is designed to help you to find phone if it is stolen or lost.
This works like this:
In the program settings you add allowed SIM card and phone numbers to send SMS messages.
After the boot program reads the IMSI number of the current SIM card.
If the IMSI is in a list of allowed, it displays a notification that the SIM is checked and the program ends.
If the current IMSI is not in the list of allowed, then program send an SMS messages to configured in the settings telephone numbers.
If for some reason the message is not sent (there is no network signal, enabled airplane mode, etc.), the program attempts to send it again after 10 seconds and it will be repeated before the SMS is not sent.
Thus in case of missing device can learn the phone number, which is using your phone.
Among other programs TheftAlarm distinguished by the fact that it is simple, does not have any (possibly unnecessary) functions.
ChangeLog:
v1.1
- Added code for killing self. After notification program killing self process after 10 seconds (notice disappears).
- The program also kills self process when you enter the wrong password and when you click "back".
- Fixed a reaction to the program for IMSI = null. Now the program works correctly, if the airplane mode enabled, there is no SIM card or other network errors.
- Translated the string "SIM check OK" on Russian
v1.2
- Added Greek translation (thanks to dancer_69)
- Small layout optimizations
v1.3
- Created apk with those languages: Russian, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish. Thanks to authors.
v1.4
- Now, if app can't read IMSI on system boot
(if airplane mode on, waiting for PIN/PUK input or another reason), then app will do it every 10 seconds.
- Added additional info in alert sms: IMSI and IMEI.
- Sorry, but in this version and higher app will include english and russian translations only. It is hard for me to create many packages for one release, but including all languages in one apk - increase apk size. I think you understand me. This is simple app. Everyone can use my app in english.
v1.5
- SMS text changed: "Phone is turned on. Unknown SIM inserted". In Russian version: "Вставлена чужая SIM"
v1.6
- Now, notification "SIM check OK" disappears after 10 sec on Android 2.2
- Small code optimizations
v1.7
- Fixed issues when running on Android 1.5. Program works on all versions of Android now.
- Sms sending code optimized.
v1.8
- Possibility to send coordinates, which determined using network cell stations (not GPS, For Russia and CIS countries only yet);
- Intellectual alarm SMS sending system;
- Black background on "enter password" screen;
- Storing password in md5 encryption;
- Small Interface changes.
This Pro version of program not works(soon) on Android 1.5, sorry.

Excellent.......................!
Dutch translation.
Nice app.
Would it be possible to add the IMSI number of the "stealers" SIM card to the SMS message? Cause receiving "Alert messsage" text is kinda useless.
Thanks.
Very nice app. Thanks so much.
Here Spanish translation.
Thanks and here is the croatian translation!
I'm making a french translation, but can you say me : When "alarm stand by" is checked, is the app active, or not?
Anyway, there is the french translation (I translated "Alarm stand by" by "Alarme en pause", which is as much ambiguous than the original) No offense
Here's the italian translation
Since this relies on SIM cards not matching I'm assuming tihs is GSM only and not CDMA as CDMA doesn't use SIM cards.

It reads out the the ID of your SIM-Card and checks that against the instlled one so far.
My HTC Desire is configured to use HSPA (so WCDMA) only and it still shows and uses the correct IMSI.
Edit
@author: Do you mind adding a (a)gps support (or is it already added?), so it also sends the location of the phone? And maybe a response to a caller who sends an sms with location etc (received msg has to be hidden of course) with a special key-word?
Cool app. Gonna try it. In the meantime here is the Danish translation.
great app mate. works like a charm.

[Q] Multi lingual spell check / correction suggestions

Do any one has found a way to get the froyo (spell check for second language feature ?)
Or a way to change the spell checking from whatever language is in settings without having to go settings --> input --> spell check --> navigate trough list of languages ?
I tough of adding 140k french words and 100k Spanish words to the custom dict using UDM app but didn't work... the spell checker insist in using its own dict and ignore my custom.
This problem is magnified with the use of the bloody dock keyboard which was the single reason i bought the TF700 (which is on ebay for sale ATM)
I remember the times when Linux meant freedom and flexibility... JB is an Ugly unfinished IOs rip off (and that's in a good day)

The problem your encountering is not a "JB" issue. Rather, it is the fact that the TF700 (and ASUS in general) uses a proprietary subsystem called XT9 (produced by a company called 'Nuance'). For this reason, we cannot create new keyboard layouts nor add more languages. I've been investigating this in my spare time and, though there are some hacks you can do for some modified functionality, the extent you are wanting requires information that is just not available.
Hope this at least gives you a better idea of what the problem is.
Alien, thanks for your reply,
Maybe some of my problems come from the TF but the second language spell check is a feature last since ICS, that was the reason I sold my SG3 after three days.
I use a qwerty layout on all my hardware and my Desire HD2 for example is set to English and second language French.
I still miss spanish but it being my mother language i tend not make many mistakes on it.
There is a Bug report for Android about it http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22707
The problem is that they split the system Spell checker and now we realy a lot on the keyboard used and its suggestions, evidently that magnifies the problem on a Docked Asus TF but it is general to Android.
I think sadly that this is going the wrong way, like the bar not being hidable, or the gmail app not allowing to remove the conversation view... Google is trying to force on users theyir way of what is better for you just as Apple does.
even more Sadly Ubuntu and Unity are taking the same path. (I.E Unity top bar cant be hidden, at least they had the tought of putting it on top, as on android every time i try the OSK on the asus instead of space i hit the bar andallmywordslooklikethis)).

I understand your meaning as I am multilingual myself and Android isn't as versatile as I would like. I'm merely saying that everything that is entered via the dock on your TF700 is handled by the subsystem and not by Android directly. Anything that is entered via "ASUS Keyboard" is available for spell-check in the keyboard language that is selected. Just try opening SuperNote and typing in something like "Eu sou um americano Je suis un américain Yo soy un americano Ich bin eine Amerikaner" then setup your ASUS Keyboard for French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. While in Supernote, press Left-Control+Left-Shift to bring up the keyboard list, and select a different language. When you change the contents (like add a space at the end) you can see it reparse everything and highlight words that are not known in the selected keyboard language. It's not 100% perfect but it should at least give you a bit of flexibility.
Edit: For clarification, no I don't speak/write in French, German, or Spanish. They were just thrown in for elaborating the test.
Thanks Alien, didn't knew about the CTRL ALT thing, however I did the rational thing... Sold the Asus and got an Ipad after all i only need to do note taking on the go, boor reader and emails and sadly the bloody ipad handles those very well...
BTW: I had removed Super notes after it crashed on me and made me loose a lot of text i had entered, i was using another note app free from the market that did less but did well.
I dont know if im getting older or what but my frustration trying to get the most of my screen while reading books and coherent margins and stuff while my wife laugthed at me reading the same book from her ipad got to me.
Now trying to jailbreak the thing so i can brick it lol...
PS: With a BT apple KB, command space swaps the language im writing in seamless like with the on screen keyboard and the spell check works, thou auto caps not...

[APP] RADAR BEEP, warning radars [FREE]

Good afternoon. I would like to present the official Radar Beep app.
It was launched today on Google Play.
The way the app works is simple:
- Install the app via Google Play, select the country, and that's it. It warns you of the nearest radars, and you don't need to worry about updating the radars, as it updates automatically to always have the latest database.
- It also warns us when we are going past the radar so we can keep to the desired speed.
The main screen has two buttons:
- Spanner: Preferences
- Green ON button and red OFF button: this changes when we touch it, turning detection on or off.
It can integrate with all GPS navigation apps, as the detection dialog pops up over the navigator. You can hide it with a single touch.
It has a directional map system - in other words, it always shows you the map in the direction you're going, as well as flagging all the radar guns.
We have a Widget for turning detection on without having to open the app, and it can also turn on automatically when you turn on your Bluetooth hands-free system, turning off when you turn off the car.
And finally, we have a Radar Beep NFC sticker which can turn the app on when the phone gets near it.
The app is free and ad-supported. You can pay to get rid of the ads, but if not, the app is fully functional with a little advertising so we can maintain the service.
The app is available in:
Spanish, English, German, French, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, Romanian, Polish and Arabic.
There are some screenshots below so you can check it out.
Best regards,
Juan

Nice app but it have 2 questions:
1- The radar database will update forever?
2-How can i do to run it in background?
Thanks!
Regards
re
If radar alone are updated.
To use it in the background gives the home button and that's it

Do a Google search for:
"TWRP for (your specific model number)"
If that doesn't find anything for that specific device, it probably doesn't exist.

Same spec. Dummy phone
Hello, it seems that the vendor info is the same for my phone. D'id you get it for about 45$ on wish, or other discounter ?
It this is the case, I've found 4 Malware installed on it (the same on reset to factory settings), that I've removed with malwarebytes and ADB.
I've installed some APK and I was limited by the size, all the applications took about only 2Gb.
It's written that we have 128Gb and when I use adb shell I've only 2.6Gb (/data 2.6G 432.2M 2.1G 4096)
After several research I've installed "System Info Droid" that shows the following informations :
Device: P41 P41
Android: 4.4.2
Processor: MT6572
Instruction Sets: armeabi-v7a, armeabi
CPU Max Frequency: 1300MHz
CPU Cores: 2
System RAM: 466MB
GPU: ARM Mali-400 MP
Audio Chipset: P41
Internal Storage 2.56 GB (2.08 GB Free)
Display Size: 480x960 (4.47")
Screen Density: 240 ppi/dpi
Back Camery: 8 MegaPixels
Front Camero: 4.9 MegapixelsInstead of the "Display size", it seems to be correct. I've buyed a dummy phone (that I've asked my money back )
Let me know if your are in the same case.
Thanks.

Hi Eric
I have the same phone. I would want to root this phone and reinstall as it is full of bloatware blugwan etc halligames etc. Can you advise what I can do. Please email me on [email protected] thanks
Hi Eric
You need to make a backup of the phone's firmware before doing any installation, since for that reason I lost the operating system and I can no longer recover it, there is no firmware left for this phone. If you can do the backup and you can share the firmware, I will appreciate it very much.

I can make a backup of my phone, but the firmware is teeming with malware that needs to be removed.
I cannot find a stock firmware for this device to get rid of the malware.
