So you can do something else on your tablet? I don't think that's possible..

If you're referring to mirroring, yes, you can get rid of it. Switch to hardware decoding in the player settings and it will output only on the tv. The tablet will stay black. But this way you can't use subtitles, because they'll be shown on the tablet only.

Probably change the TV's source to HDMI? It works here...
Mine came with a defective hdmi port..
Still haven't send it in for rep, since I don't use it..
Try a different tv if it doesn't work - to rep it goes

Works fine with most Samsung TVs, but other brands seem to give it trouble.

Does the hdmi out work properly on your tf?

i just cant get mine to work.... i tried to connect to my 32" LG , its recognize the connection in the tf , but the TV don't show anything (its also make my device very slow and the status bar bigger).
My device is on revolver 3.2 , clemsyn kernel , any suggestions?
Thank you

Works perfectly on stock with my 42" LG. I would suspect kernel driver issues if you're rooted. Can you go back to stock and try it?
didn't work on stock , that's why i rooted
Mine works fine. Could be a cable issue.

The first thing I would suspect would not be the stock OS, to be honest. Check the cable, check your TV manual to see if it supports the tablet resolution, check a bunch of other things, but don't root to try to fix it.

The first time I tried to use my TF on the big screen failed but it turned out to be the cable.
Second cable worked fine.
And I'm not rooted (yet
I tried with another cable same problam, maybey its the mini HDMI to HDMI convertor ?

Just checked mine, works just fine. I am using stock software on a Vizio 42" with a cheap mini hdmi cable.
found this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074816&page=2
look it trough
Works fine for me on both my Panasonics (56" plasma and 47" lcd) and various other HDTV's that I've tried while travelling over the last month or two...
Works OK on my Philips lcd tv.
I'm running Revolver 3.2.
In case it doesn't work I would try another cable and another TV.

5.1 audio over HDMI?

So far I've only been able to get 2.1 audio over HDMI using a variety of apps playing mkv files with AC3 or DTS. Has anyone been able to output 5.1 audio? I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is a tablet limitation, the apps I'm using, or my admittedly ancient receiver.
Apps tried:
BS Player Free
Dice
MX Player

Surely someone out there has taken note of whether 5.1 audio is being output from the TF700. In fact, I'm hoping it's my receiver's fault that I'm not getting it. Gives me another reason to upgrade. :silly:
I was not aware the 700 could do that???
I'll see if I can find a cable for it and hook it up to the ol' 3311ci tonight.
How can you tell which one it is using? I'll test when I get hone with my setup

On my receiver I have a display that shows what speakers are in use, as well as whether it's using PCM, Dolby Digital, or DTS. YMMV
Bump to see if anyone has tested this yet.

I have not yet. Did you enable libffmpeg for Dice player?

It's not a tablet limitation

Hi !
I've seen a test review on the net that was stating that they used an mkv with AC3 and it was working ... check your decoder, I know it is working
Thanks for that. I should finally have time to test with libffmpeg on Dice tonight.

Still not working even with the Dice plugin. My receiver is over 10 years old and is getting audio from an optical split on a Monoprice HDMI switch, and does support Dolby Digital and DTS, but will only play 2 channel PCM from the tablet.
Can anyone else try to confirm first hand that 5.1 works? I'd really like to know if it's the tab or my ancient receiver.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
Yes it does
It even outputs 7.1 with Spotify premium on my Onkyo TX-NR808.
I've not tried for movies but I guess it should not be an issue.
I haven't gotten this to work either. I use Handbrake to convert my video. Did anyone get this to work?

Android to replace windows media center

Hi
I'm currently using a windows media centre PC to watch films and listen to music etc on my TV. Its on it's last legs and I was thinking of trying to replace it with some kind of android setup. other than Google TV has any one had an android box plugged into their TV to use for watching movies and Netflix etc? I'd like to be able to control it from my android phone or tablet as well as with a keyboard and mouse.
thanks
steve

I use an mk802 hdmi stick but it gets hot after three or four hours, there is also the upcoming console called ouya which is $99 and will make a good media centre as the xmbc media app was announced for it today.

Maybe the upcoming Ouya (which is mainly meant to be an Android-based gaming console) would be a good fit for this?
EDIT: Beaten!
Thanks guys. I was just looking at the ouya. It looks very interesting. I'm tempted to donate on kickstarter. Do you know if we will have access to Google play with this or do you think it will be restricted to a ouya market much the same as the amazon kindle? Mind you it's rooted out of the box so I can imagine it won't be long until someone had cm10 running on it
Thanks

There's the Nexus Q, but it's very expensive and only streams media. There are some Android TV boxes with USB and SD input. They're not perfect as they mostly run Froyo/Gingerbread and stretch them out to the TV, meaning apps like Netflix would run the mobile version which would be pretty low resolution, but there are some ICS ones now. They seem good, and affordable, some come with motion remotes to work as the mouse, others with an actual mouse.
Just search for 'Android TV Box'.

Maybe the raspberry-pi is a good choice. Wifi version with hdmi port.

The raspberry-pi is an interesting idea. I'm a little worried it will be under powered though. I like the spec on the upcoming ouya. Just a shame it doesn't have google play access out the box.
thanks

I use HDMI with Samsung's connector. They have an over rhe air device but reviews are mixed. I will eventually get it to see. But hdmi works flawless. I get to use my plasma as a big screen the type & images are super crisp. I put my tablet on a tripod and use the touch screen as a remote controller.
I have the Allshare Cast Dongle and it goes fine. I use it with my N8000, S4 and Note 2.

Chromecast only works with certain apps. It's not a true miracast.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromecast
I bought a cheap rockchip miracast dongle off aliexpress, I will do a short review when it arrives. I'm not even sure if miracast function works but at least it has dlna.
Chromecast is great for the computer as you can mirror the entire screen, but it only works with certain applications on the phone atm.
