[Help] In-call sound quality - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Since I rooted and started trying different ROMs I finally settled with CleanRom. Problem is since flashing I've noticed when I'm on the phone talking with someone they sound all distorted and computer like. I sometimes get a nasty echo. The echo happens in my car on Bluetooth as well. My wife has the same phone not rooted and hers sounds fine. I've tried a beats app and ac!d app from devs, but none seem to make it better. I would post under Scotts forum for CleanRom but I'm not allowed yet.
Any ideas how to fix this? I don't want to go back to stock rooted. I hate all the big red and sammy extra junk.
The sound distortion I've noticed the distortion on a few other ROMs I've flashed as well.
Searches haven't helped or I wouldn't be asking.
Thanks.

Have you tried Goodness ROM? It does have good sound quality with no need to flash acid or beats.

I'm having the same issue and on CleanRom as well. I was hoping to find a solution on this thread lol

Sound issues after rooting and installing a ROM

So, why exactly does this phone have crappy sound after rooting and installing a ROM?
What file causes it, and is there a way to fix it?
I'd install a stock ROM that's been rooted as long as wifi tether and HSUPA were enabled, but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen.
Right now I'm using attn1's with the audio fix and it's not bad, but not as good as stock.
I suspect a different sound driver or maybe even a filter may be present in inspire stock rom. I'm sure it will be found.

I hope it's found soon, cause there are a lot of great roms there, but with awful audio.
I agree, I'm getting used to the tinny sound though and it doesn't seem to be as bad for me on bluetooth in the car. I'll take gingerbread with tinny sound over no gingerbread at all any day.

I didn't install gingerbread, running a Froyo Rom. Don't want to lose Sense.

Stock sound quality

Hey guys,
When I first got my inspire I loved the audio output coming from the headphone Jack. I am now running the android revolution rom and the sound quality sounds like it leaves something to be desired on the lower end frequencies, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this and what you did to fix it
Thanks

ARHD 6.1.0 has known audio issues on the Inspire (judging by the comments in the dev thread). Earlier versions may need the Inspire tinny fix applied to them (link is in the dev thread).
BTW your question would be better placed in the Q&A thread for ARHD.
Youre right, my apologies. Can the mods please move this to the right section?
And while I'm at it ill ask this question to everyone. Which ROM have all of you found to have the best sound quality?
I came from a Captivate and the Voodoo sound enhancement made phone sound better than my laptop with SRSwow sound effects. I was hoping this phone would be just as good if not better with the Dolby and SRS built in
*EDIT* I was using poweramp then decided to give playerpro with the DSP pack a try and it sounds waayyy better. Definitely worth a try

not to shamelessly plug away....but......
With a response from the dev himself I'm going to have to check it out

Yeah I never had a problem with the sound in the stock firmware. It was a lot better considering I came from an x10 which had horrible quality. Depends on what your standards are.

Does centered elements, such as drums, almost completely disappear? Not sure what could cause that, unless some dsp function somewhere filters the audio to leave only sidechannels centered, which usually will leave only rock guitars/hardpanned elements.

Maybe you have the 3D sound on in music fx. I always turn off the 3D function.

Tried this function too but no positive response.. I can not even imagine what could be the problem.

I have exactly same observation - bad sound via headphones.
It look like some kind of "3d sound" feature on headphopes. Sound via speaker is correct.
(2-3 JB roms)
Any solution ?

Awful sound

I was on insert coins sense 4 ROM, and my sound was fine and seemed louder. Now I'm on the cm10 kang, works perfectly but it seems the sound is just awful. Half the ringtones crackle and music just simply doesn't sound good where as before it did. I put the bass reducer on in DSP manager and it helped a little. So my question is; is there any real fix? I've noticed this happen in quite a few other ROMs. Some ROMs sound great, others it sounds as if my speaker is blown.
Hi there , you might want to post this on the cm10 site as they know about the Rom and could possibly know of a fix for you. People who are on that site are likely all using the same Rom And likely know the tricks and tips for it. Hope this helps. Good luck. Hope your issue is resolved soon .

Ahh? I just have the opposite opinion with you.
CM10 + DSP manager should be better than STOCK SENSE 4 + BEATS
Beats audio does not improve audio quality at all...
Gah! Forgot to enable the equalizer. All is right with my phone again.

Equalizer app w/ Beats included

Perusing in the general android section and read the last few pages of this link. Member confirmed working on stock/rooted S3. Made a nandroid and ave it a shot. Have tested with bluetooth headphones and changes are noticeable. I really like the bass boost.

Edit: got it installed with no problems on synergy r52. Just need to test it on something besides the phones speaker to see if it actually is using the equalizer or not. I don't have headphones with me.
The music does seem louder than it was before tho...
You are correct. Which is why I backed up prior to install. After installation, you can go into System-Sounds and there will be a new menu option, Music Effects. Select Awesome Beats (fyi I got a MusicFX force close for some reason).
You will now have an app named Awesome Beats. You can open that and make your adjustments for wired and wireless headphones.
I use bluetooth wireless, so I made my adjustments while listening to music.
This may be no better than an app that is on Play. I was in a modding mode, so I did it.
FYI - you will also not see the red Beats logo on the taskbar.
Installed fine, with no force closes so far. But it didn't do anything to the music.
Installed on Synergy r53 working great.

You can actually hear a difference in the music though? I couldn't hear any changes when switching between presets. Even on the headset that came with the phone.

I hear some small changes like you said the music seems louder and I think the bass boost is working. Not entirely sure but did get the force close for MusicFX.
Just flashed it, works but only for for native music player.......

DSP Manager is an excellent equalizer app, as well.

Curious what ROM you're running and what DSP settings you're using?
Bass sounds pretty distorted to me.
