[APP] Samsung LED Controller - Tasker - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey Guys,
I have just released an app on the Google Play store.
It is a plugin for tasker so you can control your notification led
Free - Ad Free
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.galaxys3ledcontroller
(this plugin only works for touchwiz roms)

I don't understand... Taker can control the LED on the s3 without this. What is this for?

What ^ that guy said

Thought this was standard? What does this app do??

Guys, this is a tasker plugin.
Please don't confuse this as a static settings screen

i thought so. i don't really know who would need this. every ROM i've been on has these settings. some have more control than others.

Don't worry man, I get what you're saying. If I wanted to turn off all led's based on location or a time of day then this plugin makes it possible through tasker. All ya gotta do is read people.

Perfect. Just what I was looking for.

I like this app but its only for settings. Is there an app that forces LED to light up/blink using tasker? anyone have any ideas?

I love this app, but I have one request. It would be great if there was an option for "no change" in addition to ON/OFF. There may be times when I want power saving mode on, but not change the LED settings, or vice versa. Just as an example.

Yeah its already in tasker.
Create a new task go to add>Alert>Notify LED. Add a title and whatever else you wish, the title is mandatory though, set the color and rate, and any actions on the notification if you wish. Press play and shut off the screen and it should be lit up and blinking (select 1 if you want it to be set on).
It seems though it doesnt play well with touchwiz.. The blue light always overrides at least for messaging. I wanted to make it blink faster, but I did not succeed in what I tried. No big deal though. THe only reason I wont disable the touchwiz is that it is used for other things than just messaging and I do not want to have a notification I missed because I just wanted a light to blink faster.
Remove the notification to make the light go away. This only works on screen off though.
Need any more help let me know I have been using tasker for over a year now and have much experience with many features of it. PM me if you need to.

Thank you for the reply. I figured it out a few days ago but still thank you. Tasker is an awesome app. You really can get the most out of your phone with it.

Just what I was looking for. This is great!

Can someone post a step-by-step guide on how to set this up in Tasker? Much appreciated!

I can't get the Do Not Disturb to work as State on the S7. I use the %INTERRUPT variable but toggling DND does Nothing to the variable. Can you please help us set this up in Tasker?
Or does Tasker need updating?

Power Save app and Timer & Clock widgets

There is a link to download: http://www.xperiablog.net/
just extract the rar and install each apk.

Power save app from Xperia Ray is easiest way to turn on/of power save mode.
The timer would be a good app if it alerted you at the end of the countdown
Uninstalled! Clock...Uninstalled! Gonna try the powersave app tonite and see how that works out.
i can't get into the link...can somebody post a direct link to the file please..
nvm..i got it already from here

Well I gave the powersave app a go last nite and its really nothing different than what ive been doing, but it does it all in one shot so im keeping it.
It turns off background data/wifi/animations/gps/bluetooth as well as turns brightness down to 0. I would normally do all that stuff manually (except for animations, which ive always left on) and my battery life is excellent! 2 days on a single charge easy, 3 days once.

How so? I tried it two ways, once with the screen not locked....all it did was flash the start/stop button green, didn't make any audible sound.
Once with the screen locked, it didn't even turn the screen on, make a sound, nothing.

Dim Softkey brightness? Is it possible?

Is it just me or are the softkeys really bright on the s2?
Well, ive gone on google and tried to find the answer, but seems like there is not a way to possibly reduce the brightness of the softkeys itself.
However, before i give up (i find those softkeys useful, but hard to use at night as its too bright, and turning off the function is difficult to use) I was wondering if its possible without rooting, by using a 3rd party app.
Thanks

That's an interesting idea. The brightness issue made me turn off that light all together (running CM9). I found the light so distracting when using my phone to read a book or something in a dark room at night...
I hope someone chimes in with an idea.
.
Seriously doubt its possible without root.... with root, the only ones i can find just turn them off.. havent seen anything that just dims.
Would definitely say impossible without root, as you need to edit system files to alter hardware functions. I don't believe there is a variable anywhere to edit that though, because I've only ever seen their functions to be off and on with all the phones I've used that have had them. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure a skilled dev could give you a better opinion.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Darn alright thanks for your posts!
Hopefully a dev could give his $0.02, as i would believe it would make the softkeys more usable throughout the day and night.
i think over time you get use to it. i turned my keys off and i have no problem navigating.

Use the app screen filter. It will allow you to dim the buttons. Not sure if root is needed or not tho.

I'm not sure exactly how these specific leds work, but I know with store bought leds, you can use what's called multiplexing which makes them flash faster than your eye can see, but slow enough that it seems as if they are dimmer...not sure if there is a way to lower the speed or if you can even make them flash at all (constantly)
You could also maybe look for a night mode from a third party app to change settings at a certain time
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
That said.. I wonder if its safe to have a an app to lower voltage/amps to these leds.

Notification sounds don't shut off

Anyone else have this problem? Can't imagine I'm missing a setting.... Mute generally means mute.

Samsung wants me to send the phone in to fix this but I'm not sure being without a phone for a week or more is worth. Plus, I'm pretty sure if I install a custom ROM this problem will disappear. I'm frustrated, this is a stupid easy problem to fix (with an app) but a BRAND NEW phone should not have this problem to begin with. I wonder if I flashed the stock rom on top of the stock rom (lol) if that would work? Only one other person has this problem?
factory reset should fix your problem.

As a workaround you can choose "Silent" as your Notification sound.
If you only need this functionality at work for example look at Llama that will allow you to configure it very easy.

I've tried Llama before but really didn't look into it too far. Where I work is only about 3 miles from my house so I'm bouncing off the same tower in both places..... Did not work too well with Llama. Can someone check if there volume shows the same as mine when set on mute? The only thing muting is the ring tone. Just curious...

I see the same thing if I set the phone for Silent mode.
There's all different notification sound settings in this phone, I've noticed - my email accounts have their own notification settings per account, messaging has its setting, etc.
Maybe Silent mode primarily silences ringtones and doesn't prevent separate apps from making sounds? Which types of notifications continue to make sounds?
- ooofest
All of them. Anything not set to silent (email, text, messaging, etc) makes a audible notification when the phone is set on mute. Also, when my phone is set on vibrate I also have audible notifications.

From the User Manual, pg 124:
Use Silent modes to temporarily silence the sounds your
phone makes, except for media playback and alarms, or
replace them with vibration.

So, it doesn't seem to claim affecting your sounds beyond the ringer and maybe keypad noises or similar. Working as designed, it seems (not that I agree with their design, in this case).

To me that means it should silence notifications since it's not "media" or "alarm"? I'm just going to buy sound manager since it has more options anyway..... $2.99 to end my frustration with this

I would classify "alarm" as notifications, in trying to interpret their jargon for the context given.
Yeah, an app which can configure sounds across all your apps and settings seems best, here.

Appreciate you looking that up in the manual. I actually downloaded it after your post . I bought the app and set my work and mute profiles... Nice app. I know this is stupid thing to worry about but it gets frustrating when I get woke up or a notification goes off during a meeting. Silent on the sound manager app silences everything.

Light flow HELP ME

Why am I having so much trouble getting light flow to work? I just had it working fine on my galaxy Nexus so I definitely know how to set it up but no matter what I do it won't work.
Are there any special settings I need to turn on or off?

Make sure Light flow is checked in accessibility settings. So currently, having an "always on" notification for any one setting will mess with the other settings. Dev is working on a fix. other than that it should be working.
What exactly is happening on your end, you didn't give a lot of detail?

You should be starting to get the update now. I've done a workaround for always on as the LG drivers just don't accept it. I'd class the "always on " option for the Nexus 5 as being "almost always on"
Updated the app now, will see how it goes
I still seem to be getting notification light illuminated after the notification has been read.
Addmitedly I don't have it running as a foreground service.
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the lightflow notification in the pull down shade? I like to keep that area clean for notifications. I know other apps offer an option to disable that notification.

[Q] Notification light timeout

Not sure if I just haven't found the option yet but can we extend how long the notification light blinks after a missed call, text etc? It seems like it may only flash for 5 or 10 minutes. I know it seems like not that big of a deal but I would like to know a way to change it. I'm dispatched for work through text so not having to constantly pick up my phone to see if I have a missed call or text would be ideal. Thanks in advance!

Well after some more homework it sounds like this has been going on for a lot of HTC phones. This is my first one.Is there an app or something that can bypass this 5 minute timeout? I'm assuming it's probably something I would have to be rooted for since apps like liteflow don't seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Light Flow has a "HTC alternative direct mode", and it states "Phones such as the latest HTC One control the LED differently when running in Direct Mode. This option should enable flashing the LED." Granted... I am unsure if you need root for that option. Same with Direct Mode. Only option I am sure that needs Root is, well, Root mode, lol.
Sadly this is all I can think of that might help you, sorry.
