Which 4.2 AOSP ROM has wifi tether app working? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm using baked beans native WiFi AP but only works unsecured.

They're all like that right now. This didn't require two threads.

I use Bluetooth tethering to my tablet and it actually seems to use less battery than hotspot. Just an alternative if you don't want to use unsecured hotspot.

Download Wifi Tether from the Market, go into settings and uncheck "Wifi-driver reload". Set up encryption if you want and you'll be good to go.

Here is one I have been using for sometime now. Never updates but always works. Wireless Tether 2.0.5

Favorite Tethering Option

So what is everyone's favorite tethering method? Rooted/unrooted? I honestly haven't had the need to tether with this phone yet, but on my old device I was a fan of WiFi Tether and PdaNet depending upon what the situation called for.
I either use the built in mobile hot spot or foxfi. Of course modded the mobile hot spot so I can use it for free

[Q] AOKP and wifi hotspot

Whenever I use AOKP's built in free hotspot with Windows it connects but with limited connectivity. Thus making it pretty much useless lol. Tried it in Ubuntu as well but it just wouldn't connect altogether. Anyone else experience this issue? If so what is the fix?

I think I read it had to do with security. Try using it as an unsecured access point.

(Q)Tether/hotspot

I don't have hotspot and tether on my contract, is there a ROM that will allow this? On my other phone (T-Mobile) they could detect if you were using tether or hotspot without paying and shut it down. Is this the case with Verizon as well?

Pretty much any custom ROM should have the native tether working fine without vzw knowing. Some ROMs use an app by Treve (I believe) but either way, yes you can tether.

yes you can, did u try? should work
usb tethering works with pdanet i believe it was but i gave not found a wifi tether solution.

wifi tether works with built in settings at least on xt 925 stock, make sure u either JUST try without security or just use number as security. I know it works both rooted and unrooted.
does that cause you to get the mobile broadband connect fee?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
no there s no fee , you are just sharing your own internet that you pay already for, depending where you are an dyour carrier, there may be a limit to how much you can use , maybe 4-5GB but that depends...:good:
