SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hello Guys. Can anybody upload SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk of Sony Xperia Tipo(ST21i)?

I tried to copy using root explorer to SD card, but it can't be seen on computer when connected using data cable. How do i copy those two files? I need it for UOT Kitchen! I'm not able to find the procedure or files in XDA. So please do help!

They are probably hidden files in SD Card, try to enable showing hidden files on your PC.
Secondly, try to make zip file from those two files, send to PC and then extract.

I copied to SD Card. It didnt show up. So enabled show hidden files. DIDN'T WORK. Zipped it. Again DIDN'T WORK.

Use another root/file manager, maybe change something on phone to show like not hidden?

I managed somehow and i downloaded UOT zip file. Now when i try to install i get Status 0 error. I saw "How to" section of that site, i read that status 0 procedure, but i didnt get it. What is overriding UOT's file mean? What actually i should do?

What are you asking? Making zip file?
What do you want to do with that?

I'm really sorry for my english! The problem is I want SystemUI and framework-res files for UOT Kitchen to customize the notification bar. I downloaded the UOT zip file. But when i try to Install it using CWM, it gives me Status 0 error. In the website there is instruction if this error occurs. But i didn't get it.
WORKAROUND for recovery error (Status 0):
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)

Can anyone explain me what does this mean? What should i actually do?

Ahh I get it.
That is an error in update-binary in META-INF... folder, you should replace it with some other update-binary file.
But you don't need CWM, you can manually put those files with some root manager if you can not get that workin'.

Koush Auto Browser without commands.

Well i know many of you have done this but i havnt seen it posted in this thread so here it goes just in case. * Longer Process* but skips dealing with all the commands.
To get auto rotate browser without going through all the command process.
1. Download Koush auto rotate browser here, http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/12/auto-rotate-for-android-browser.html.
2. Open the browser.apk file, I use winrar.
3. Copy all files from that zip.
4. Open any theme of your choice using winrar, goto app and open the browser.apk
5. Open the browser.apk in winrar and paste the files that you have copied from Koush's browser.apk
6. Save, Now you must autosign your update.zip by following this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3178676
7. Now put the update.zip that you just signed into the root of your sdcard.
7. Turn off phone and boot using home+power
8. Now hit alt+s to update, when finished reboot and walaah!
*This is for the people who are not comfortable using command prompt, works like a charm, has been tested on my phone using jf 1.31 rc30
? Has anyone els tried this and succeeded ?
Not understanding # 2, I went and downloaded the browser, it's an .apk not a zip file?
just fyi, the koush's browser does not need the odex file removed. it is just unnecessary, so why not remove it?
Edit your link for autosigning

ok- G1 newbie here- by theme you mean JF RC30/ADP1/RC8 etc?- YES is the answer to that-
now do i just zip the folder with the pasted files in it? Do i add it to archive? I did that, then chose RAR format and then changed name of file to Browser.apk. Is this correct?
crap! just realised i need java installed for this to work....... will try later..... still not sure if i did the rezipping procedure properly....

Have you tried rebooting your phone after the update?
Well, I didn't before now, lol. Howerver, still a no go..
If his file is an apk, why can't you open the update, and replace the whole browser.apk file, then just resign it?
ill try it.
Has that worked for you?

How to make a CWM file

Hello, I have searched everywhere and cant find the answer to my question. I wanted to replace a file using CWM .zip how in the heck do I do that? Most of all I just wanted to learn how to do it as well...
Thanks,
Chad
Well to begin with you can take an existing zip with the file path you need, delete everything in the folders not touching the META-inf folder at all, those are the install instructions, and put the file you want to flash in the correct folder. I think thats how everyone starts out.

but your update-script has to match what you are flashing via cwm. if you take a rom zip and just pop in a few files in place of the whole rom structures, your flash will fail because your update-script is looking for specific structures.

One way would be to use: Update Zip creator/modifier (Requires Windows)
yeah it would be bad mojo if you used a wipe rom zips META INFO to make an update zip.....
Thanks a million everyone......
Sorry for being late to the party again.. Here goes my attempt at an explanation though:
Essentially, a CWM flashable zip is just a zip file with the file system replicated in it. So for example, if you wanted to add swype, and you know Swype.apk would regularly go in /system/app, then you would create a blank folder called 'system', and another folder inside system called 'app', and put your Swype.apk inside that. (/system/app/Swype.apk)
After that, all that's left is to build an update script. So, from your root directory (where your system folder is), you would make another directory called META-INF, with a folder inside called 'com', another one inside that called 'google', and finally one called 'android' inside that (/META-INF/com/google/android), you put a text file in there called 'update-script' that tells recovery what you want to do (in this case, copy swype over to the corresponding directory on the file system).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641223
^There's a guide for how to make those. You can also pick apart any rom you find in the dev section and check out the update script for reference.
After that, it's just a matter of zipping up all the contents in your root directory, then signing the zip with testsign.jar

Is there a way from the CWM interface to do the same with a backup you create? I noticed backups are not in the same format, they are usually .img, .tar, and an md5 file?

Yeah, update to the latest firmware. It should work after that.
Try OTA Root Keeper (it might save your root so you don't have to root again).
IF not just update, run ViperMod again and install RecoveryInstaller
I can not flash the update. I put the Update on the SD, the system dedects also the update but after the restart the update breaks and the system restart again.
I desperate slowly
Did you extract the file you download to get to the zip file inside? You also have to rename that extracted file. I cant recall exactly what it need to be rename to but I'll check soon as i get near a PC

"EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" i think this is what you have to rename the file
edit: Tips from Baseballfanz For those not able to get it working, a few things to check.
1-Make sure you actually extract the WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip within the zip. Inside the file you download is an Asus folder, inside that is an Update folder, inside that is the WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip file you'll be working with.
2-When renaming, if your PC is set to "hide known extension", you'll not see the .zip so if you type in .zip you'll get filename.zip.zip The file manager on the TF should show you the extension
3-Make sure it's on the root of the sd card and not within any folder.
4-Check spelling of files WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip EP101_SDUPATED.zip
5-Micro sd card is in FAT32 format. Try a different card or format again (after saving your stuffs)
6-File manager on the TF sdcard is internal and Removable/MicroSD is the external sd card.
THESE ARE TIPS FROM BASEBALLFANZ POST SOMEWHERE ELSE ONLY I X'ED OUT THE FIRMWARE NUMBER TO DENOTE THE NEWEST FIRMWARE.... HOPE YOU DNT MIND
Thank you very mutch for your help. I have the last update installed 8.6.6.23 but i can this not rooted. ViperMod no longer works.
YYYEEEEAAAAHH
I have root with nachoroot. CWM is already on it. Many thanks again!
That's good to hear.

[Q] Problem in installing my custom rom made through android kitchen

I am getting and error when flashing my custom rom which i made through android kitchen. i am a beginner to this.
Error is like:
Error in update.zip
(status 0)
Installation aborted
Can anyone help me on this?
I'm not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that may be related to an incorrect update-binary in the ZIP. Try downloading another Explorer ROM and copying the update-binary from it into your ZIP, replacing the one that's there already. It's located like this within the ZIP: META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary
EDIT: You don't have to download a full ROM btw, any recovery flashable ZIP should do, e.g. one of the custom kernels such as Cranium (smaller download than a full ROM)
Thanks

There is a problem, i use my htc explorer for calling and other works, so whenever i want to check my rom, i have make nandroid backup which takes 15-20 minutes bcoz of lots of apps installed. and after checking the rom i need to restore my previous system which is very time consuming. Is there any other way to check the rom working or not without using it in my explorer, maybe using an emulator in windows 7? if there is an easy way then pls help me on this.
Let me explain you clearly what i am doing.
1. I extraced rom.zip file from HTC Explorer RUU.
2. I placed it in original_update folder in android kitchen.
3. I set up a working folder from android kitchen menu and i got these files and folders in WORKING folder
boot.img
system
META-INF
4. I selected the option 99 in kitchen menu that is Building a ROM.
5. After successful completion i got a zip file in OUTPUT folder.
6.Then, i copied that update.zip file from OUTPUT folder to my sd card.
7. Now, i boot into recovery, and try to install zip from sd card but it shows an error like this
Error in sd-card/update.zip
(Status 0)
Installation Aborted.
Now i dont understand why it is giving me an error even i have not touched any file from the working folder.

I have no idea what you're doing wrong. But I don't think you have tried my suggestion from earlier in the thread.
Take the final update.zip file you have (the one you put on the SD card and try to install), and open it using an archive manager such as 7zip. Navigate into META-INF/com/google/android and delete the file "update-binary" that is located there. Then replace it with this one: http://d.pr/f/VHF1
Close 7zip, copy the ZIP to your SD card and try to install it in recovery.

Well, 7 > 0, therefore it's better
In all seriousness, I think this means it's probably getting further than before, but there's some other problem with the ROM. I don't know the various status error codes, I just recognized 0 as one I'd come across before. I'm afraid I can't be of any further assistance I don't think.
EDIT: From here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30415128#post30415128
Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc

I think this is the error....
When you setup a working folder then change your updater-script to update script... ( search for the option to change it) if you want to make some changes in update-script Do so and then build your rom... the update-script will automatically be changed to updater-script .. now place the rom and flash.. If any problem feel free to ask
