Can I use sim from GNex? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know if I can just use the Sim from my Galaxy Nexus in my new RAZR HD and go? Or am I gonna fry something?

yessir, your phone uses a mini sim and the RAZR HD is a "microsim" phone. Several guides online about how to "trim" it. quite easily actually. that being said, newer sims often times offer better features and reception. if you have lte in your area your sim card may not be lte compatible, in which case you'd only get HSDPA + speeds.

Well my GNex has LTE and I'm staying on Verizon. Do I need to contact Verizon that I'm switching phones though?

The sim from my Verizon gNex fit perfectly in the sim slot on the HD without any trimming. I didn't have to contact Verizon to switch and as soon as I booted it up with my gNex's sim card it was active, no other steps required.

[Q] LTE Sim Card to HSPA+ Nexus

I have a AT&T Skyrocket and live in a non-LTE area. With the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus being offered through Google Play for $399 off contract, I'm very tempted to purchase it. My concern/question is will I be able to just take the SIM card I got with the Skyrocket and just put it into the HSPA+ Nexus? And if so, will selling my Skyrocket w/o a SIM make it that much harder to sell?
I have used my LTE sim in my nexus one without any problems. So I would imagine you wouldn't have any either
Sim is backwards compatible, so no worries about GSM & HSPA, guaranteed to work. As for selling with no sim, that's the way its supposed to be done. The buyer should be supplying their own, they can get one on the spot from an AT&T store
Don't give out your old SIM. Your SIM is what associates your phone with your account/phone number.

Sprint vs Verizon sim card

How come Sprint doesn't use a sim for their LTE? Is the sim even necessary or is to bring global usage to the Verizon version?

The SIM card is used for 4g. 3g and voice is over the cdma radio. And sprints does have a SIM if I'm not mistaken it's internal tho and cannot be accessed.
The biggest problem with the "non-removeable" sim setup that Sprint uses is you can't just pop it out & stick it in another phone.
I do this all the time with my VZ sim card.

thats for sprint? it looks like verizon its all handled through the sim for both lte and 3g.... right?
As far as I know its just the lte that needs the SIM. Now of course the phones are made to not function w/o them but I'm pretty sure it's only the 4g that actually relies on it

[Q] Verizon 4G Sim in 3G GSM device

From what I've read, you can pop a Verizon 4G sim into pretty much any unlocked LTE capable device and have it work.
Now I'm guessing this is going to be a no, but...
I got an Airtel 3G Data card (specifically the Huawei E1731) when I went to India and unlocked it, if I remember correctly it kept swapping from CDMA and GSM signals. Now if I pop the Nano SIM I got with my iPhone 5 into this data card, (I'll try to make my self a Nano SIM to SIM adapter) is there any chance of it working?
I've also heard if things like the 4G sim being deactivated when you swap to a 3G device. But wouldn't putting it in a 3G device be the same as using the iPhone 5 with LTE turned off?
And is there any chance of Verizon messing with my data plan if I put the sim in the data card and start using it with my laptop?
I just saw a a video of someone putting a nano sim in an iPhone 4s and it working so I think this should at least work on the data card, still worried about the Verizon side of this.
Also I just remembered something about different frequencies, would the fact that the data card is from India affect my ability to use it?
Actually, I'm pretty sure Verizon SIM cards are only for their devices. I don't think they work otherwise

I've read from a few different reliable sources, don't have any links on hand. But its the phone that is locked to a carrier, not the sim that is locked to the phone, so as long as the device is unlocked and has the required hardware, it should work with that sim.
In verizons case, at the very least the LTE should work with an LTE device, I'm not sure about voice, 3G, and 2G.
In that case you wouldn't get 3G on other phones, since the SIM cards Verizon has are for 4G LTE only, their 3G networks are CDMA and thus built into the phone.
LTE is a GSM technology which is the only reason they use SIM cards at all

That is what I was thinking, but the data card seems to have both CDMA and GSM bands and when I pop out the LTE sim from my phone I lose all signal not just LTE.
Now what I'm thinking is that, since the SIM holds all the Account info, etc, not just 4G related things, that if I pop it into the 3G data card, (I've seen Iphone 5 SIM be put into a 4s and work) that it should work. That is if the Data card is compatible, which I'm not 100% sure on.
The SIM in a GSM phone holds all the account information. The SIM in a CDMA phone is for data only - the phone will work for voice/text without it. The SIMs are different software/wise.

That's what I initially thought but, If that's true than why is my iPhone 5 not able to use Data, voice, or text without the SIM inserted?
I'm not to worried about it not working, the thing I'm concerned about is verizon messing up my plans if I try using the sim in a data card.

[Q] Using Sim Card Slot

SO can I use the Sim card slot for an GSM Carrier? with maybe a Mod? Not sure if I can since its I think one of the first LTE phones that Verizon got. YES I know Verizon is CDMA but phones like the S3, and S4 I pop my AT&T sim in and it works 100%,
It won't work on the Charge. There have been no successful carrier changes for the Charge.

Did swapping my LTE sim card break something? 3G only?

I've been using the LTE sim card I received with my Galaxy S3 back in 2012 with a Moto G LTE I bought several months ago. I recently cobbled together a Galaxy Nexus from a couple of broken devices. I noticed that this phone would only connect to 3G (EHRPD), but when I tried to use the sim card with my S3, Moto E LTE, and S6, those devices will also only connect to 3G. I have tried both Global and LTE/CDMA on the devices that will let me, but the phones still do not connect at anything other than 3G and I did not dial *228 or *228nn from any of my phones.
Did I break something? Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation to let my phones connect to LTE again, or do I need to obtain a new sim card, and if this is the case, what's the best method to obtain a new one?
Thanks!
When I needed a new sim I just went to the store and explained it wasn't connecting to LTE and they went ahead and replaced it without any fuss.
