Hey guys!
So i had my HTC One S unlocked and rooted and all was fine until i gave my phone to my friends to flash a custom Rom into it... The problem is that it got stuck in the bootloop... After surfing the web for hours i think i only made it worse cuz now i cant get in the recovery anymore!
I got my HTC 4 days ago so Im not an expert at all...
Mainly when my friends saw that the rom failed and my phone got stuck in the bootloop the tried mounting the phone to the computer via recovery but the phone said that the mount failled! they did the wipe of cache and factory somthing...(i cant remember exactly cuz they did it and not me).
I have read that i need to install the RUU and i did but i got the error 132 signicher failed... so i did what was in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
But failed at step 4 cuz i cant get the the recovery(when i press recovery it reboots and goes to "FASTBOOT USB"...
please help!

Download twrp recovery IMG and flash it through fast boot to get recovery back.. Then go to boot loader select fast boot again and run cmd OEM relock and as long as you are using an ruu with the same or higher hboot you have currently have it will work.. If it doesn't then you need a different ruu...again the ruu needs to be same or higher than hboot version currently installed..

well after countless hours i was able to get the recovery back!
the problem now is that in the recovery i press "mounts and storage" and "mount USB storage" it wrote:" E:unable to open ums lunfile (no suchfile or directory) "... im in the CWM recovery and the usb cable is connected to the conputer with the installed drivers...
also, i tried installing RUU's and they all failed in the same place :"signicher failled"
i noticed that there was a website where i could download all the original RUU's but is has shutted down for some reason...
BTW if there are any files i need to download could you please post the link cuz i have no idea where to look... if you cant post the link for some reason could you please post the full name of the file?
So I have advanced and now im in this situation:
I have a TWRP recovery... I enter mount. Check mount storage, data, cache but sd card wont mount...
X Unmount System
X Unmount DATA
X Unmount Cache
O Mount SD Card
My computer sees the phone as removble and askes me if i want to format it!
Should I format or should do something else?

Format it then again install recovery through fast boot.. On your PC pick and download a custom rom.. Open zip and extract boot.IMG file to PC in the location of your fast boot..boot phone into recovery mount SD ( it will mount fine after you format and re flash recovery ) move ROM zip to SD card... Boot back to fast boot this time open terminal type...fastboot flash boot boot.img... When done do... Fastboot wipe cache.... Then boot to recovery wipe every thing except SD card 3 times and install ROM zip.. After process is complete wipe only both caches one time... Reboot and you'll be good to go...

That worked! Your a genius!
Not sure if anyone will check this thread anymore, but Im having almost the exact same issues as the guy above ^ and I tried the solutions given in this thread and Im still stuck on a bootloop. I have another thread on here and people are trying to help me but still nothing works. Ive tried installing dark jelly cuz they told me you dont have to worry about flashing a boot.img and it installed fine but went right into bootloop. So im kinda stuck. just branching out for answers at this point. Thanks for any help

Good evening,
I really need your help. Been satisfied user of the Virtuous Ville ROM, but wanted to try Leedroids On S Rom today.
It all started with flsahing the Boot.img via ADB, which worked fine. But hereafter, I think I may have made a bad mistake: I launched ClockworkMod recovery, pressed "Nandroid Backup" - without verifying the message - and then wiped my phone. I should have noticed that Clockworkmod wasn't able to mount the SDCard already at the time when it attempted to do the nandroid backup.
Situation is, phone is empty and won't boot, I have been trying to restore access to my SD Card since about three hours, re-rooted my phone and read some bricking threads here at XDA... could not find a solution.
I have used the android internal encryption feature when I had the old ROM. Could it be that this blocks Clockwork Mod from accessing the SDCard?
Can someone please help me?
Maybe there is a way to flash a Ville ROM via ADB, so I can bypass my SDCard-Problem?
Greetings
Ulukaii
Amendment:
right now, I am trying to revive my phone via relocking it and installing the Stock ROM via RUU afterwards. I hope this works while the phone is in fastboot mode.
If this is successful, I am going to post it here.
Does anyone know if I have to revert to stock recovery before applying the RUU?
Thanks in advance
Ulu

And NO you dont need stock recovery, Just a sense ROM and a relocked bootloader
no you dont have to. RUU flash via fastboot should be no prob.

Edit -- azzledazzle already provided correct link -- apologies for double post
The link works, had to use it myself.
why not just try flashing stock recovery then going back to bootloader and clearing storage and then going back to bootloader restoring to factory and then rebooting into the rom it'll wipe all partitions including sdcard except for system that uses the original proc/mount and restores sdcard to default
worked for me everytime

I also get this message "Can't mount SDCard" when using HTC sync to PC..
QUICK WAY TO FIX SD CARD ERRORS
Well this worked for me can't guarentee it for everyone else. I'm running a mac, was able to boot into CM10 very well. Initially it just got stuck at the bootloading image so I had to flash an update boot.img and was able to get in but noticed no sd card even couldn't access the sd card in recovery. So I flashed a TWRP Recovery, still showed that it wouldn't allow me to mount the sd card telling me there is some error, however it allows to mount usb storage which is a life saver.
On mac automatically it comes up with a pop up window that says initialize... ignore eject.
Click Initialize.
Tap on the Drive on the side -> ERASE TAB on top
From the drop down list chose FAT -> CLICK ERASE
After it's done eject the storage safely then unmount usb storage from the phone, you can try and tap mount SD CARD and it will still give you the same error. No worries there, boot into the OS and it'll prompt you that the sd card partition is damaged, it'll ask you to format. Let it format and your in the clear.
This works great if you were able to get into your OS.
I was running CM10
Just use TWRP. Thats it.

I tried this after a whole night of trying to fix my phone and instant fix it mounted as soon as I formatted from computer using use mount. Thank u a ton.
Ok just got the same problem ... unable to mount my sdcard. went back to stock recovery and it wasn't able to format/mount the drive.. I'm on a an OSX machine as well.. was about to RUU update but all I can find are exe (windows) files to run.. anyway for me to do a RUU update with a mac anyone.. Think only option for me is to lock my bootloader and install RUU .. but don't know how on a mac... thanks in advance...
oh forgot to mention i'm stuck on bootloop...
nvm I got it done.. just did a virtualbox with winxp and got all working.. wish they had osx native way of doing this. but at least I got a working phone again.. finally found the right words to search to find my answer..
what i had done was created a backup of the current rom i was using AOKP, to try another rom. i tried to restore back to AOKP using the back up but i kept on getting stuck in the unicorn bootup and it was just continually looping. I tried a few different things but still nothing worked.
I boot up into the bootloader and i accidentally did a factory reset from there and it wiped my entire sd card clean. so right now, im stuck without a working rom but i can still boot into TWRP recovery.
The very big problem right now is that i cannot mount the SD to my computer.
I kept getting this error as i was trying to restore to aokp too "E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)"
im not sure what is wrong with my sd card. it wont mount to my comp so i can transfer a rom there to flash. any help or ideas? thank you
Edit* i dont think twrp can read the SD. :'(

Factory reset will not wipe user data on the sd, you must have done something else. Relock the boot loader, reflash he relevant Ruu to go back to stock then start all over again

Try updating TWRP to 2.2.0
Download it, reboot device into the boot loader, go into fastboot using volume keys and power to select, rename the TWRP .img file to TWRP and put it into your ADB directory then fire up ADB and type "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img" reboot then try to mount. If I were a betting man I'd guess it will fix it.

So, a friend came to me and gave me his newly acquired One S and asked whether or not I could get it back up and running..
Apparently, from what I understand, he got the phone, unlocked the bootloader, but then didnt know that he should install a custom recovery image before attempting to flash CM10, so he used the stock recovery to flash the .zip from the SD Card. After rebooting (I have no idea if the flashing was successful) the phone is stuck on the quietly brilliant screen.
So, I took the phone, rebooted into the bootloader and used fastboot to boot up into a clockwork .img. Everything good so far, however, the problem is that its seemingly impossible to mount the SD card. My friend told me he fiddled around and "tried stuff", so I suspect somehow he must have messed with the sd card partition.
Since the SD card partition isnt actually on a physical removable sd card, I am running out of ideas.
Anyone have any bright tips? All I need is to get the Sd card mounted so that I can flash a ROM properly.
Thanks!

Ruu is installed from a computer, flash standard recovery and lock the boot loader and then run the ruu.

RUU runs life an exe file on a PC, since your friend didn't install a custom recovery, just relock bootloader and run RUU while phone is plugged in to pc in fastboot mode.

Had a similar issue that you can't mount SD from clockworkmod, it mounts ok on TWRP, flash that recovery instead.

Aha, right!
However, this still doesnt resolve the issue of a broken SD Card partition..
It probably isn't broken. I've never managed to mount SD through CWM. Try flash TWRP recovery and mount through there.
Dude just listen to everyone and download the ruu and run it only way to fix it I think

There is a sticky in Q&A on how to fix unmountable /sdcard. (Basically: Flash stock recovery through fastboot, then clear storage in bootloader, then flash your favorite custom recovery again.)
It would not surprise me if this is the same thing a RUU does (except for flashing your favorite custom recovery of course). If so, you don't need to fix your sdcard before running the RUU if you decide to go that route..
Beware that the RUU will also update your hboot, which you may not want.
If you don't want to re-lock, RUU, re-submit token, re-unlock, re-root, just manually fix the sdcard mounting issue. Once you can mount your sdcard in recovery, you can just adb push a rom to it, flash it, (wipe cache), boot it. (Depending on your ROM/hboot/recovery, you may have to flash the boot img through fastboot. The best time to do so is before booting into recovery.)
@djsubtronic: There is some misunderstanding about what 'mounting the sdcard' means.
If you can't mount it onto the root file system in recovery, you have a problem and it must be fixed. In this case you can't push/pull to your sdcard or select a zip from it for flashing. If you can't mount it on your computer over USB from recovery, that's not a problem and you don't really need it as you can still adb push/pull.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Once my mate responds Ill give it a go!
Unfortunately, so far, no luck..
Booting into the bootloader and selecting "Clear Storage" seemingly did little other than boot up into the stock recovery. After going back to the bootloader and selecting factory reset (which also just booted up stock recovery), I made him do a data wipe/factory reset.. which seemingly ran okay, but the problem still persists.. sdcard partition doesnt mount in neither Clockwork nor TWRP, and the boot is stuck on the HTC quietly brilliant screen..
My next idae I guess is to try and install a RUU.. just need to set up a Windows VM as neither of us runs Windows
I had a situation similiar, when i went to flash, i had the recovery twrp, but something happened when i went to flash, and my sdcard got corrupted,
i cant remember if i formatted the sdcard thru windows, but i think i formatted it twrp, and then was up and running,
or in windows7 disk management i had to fix the partition then formatted...
this happened over a month ago took over an hour...
but i really really really dont think ur phone is bricked... i can be fixed...
get the ruu and go over a friends house who has windows.... hope it works...
Thanks, booted up a Win 7 VM and pushed in the RUU, partition table reconstructed and everything is back to normal.. Thats another One S now kicking CM10
Thanks for the advice everyone!
I tried to install drumlock app and my phone restarted and went into the recovery. I can't mount the sd card either to flash the rom again. I dont have anything backed up. I am really lost and need someone's guidance.
I had the same issue one time what I did is I mounted the phone as a USB drive (don't know if it works with CWM, if not just flash TWRP recovery) and formated the SD card (when I mounted it Windows asked to format the SD card; Format in FAT32!). As you can imagine all data from the SD will be lost but your SD card is mounted again and you should be able to boot again. If booting still doesn't work try putting a ROM on the SD via mount as USB drive function and try to flash it. It should work.
worked but another problem happened :[

Thanks for that advice. Everything worked. I formatted the cd card and it is now seen in TWRP where I installed the viper one s rom. BUT! Now my phone just keeps on restarting - it shows the htc logo with a red banner under it and just restarts and does it all over again. I can get into boorloader mode If i get lucky pressing it before it restarts, yet the bootloader wont let me get into recovery. I am going to try other methods I guess but I am wondering if there is a way just to use RUU and restore it to stock?

You must've done something to your recovery when you formatted your sdcard. Try flashing TWRP again. You can easily bring your device back to stock by running the RUU. Info can be found around the forum.
Relock bootloader and run a official HTC RUU (warning: itll update hboot).

So you can't even get into recovery even if you flash it over fastboot?
Sent from my HTC Sensation
So I have been using Hassoon 2000's HTC One X All-in-One Kit to unlock the boatloader, flash TWRP 2.3.1.0 recovery, and finally install the latest version of "Clean ROM."
I tried a couple times before and after flashing the rom to boot into the white bootloader by powering on while holding the power button but it didn't seem to work so I have been using Hassoon2000's tool to send a command to boot into bootloader.
I "successfully" installed Clean ROM but it kept cycling "Unfortunately process com.android.com stopped" or something very similar, and then it would reboot and try it again. BEFORE doing this I wiped the cache and dalvik cache but that was it.
SO, I rebooted into TWRP and tried wiping everything. Cache, Dalvik Cache, and System worked but Factory Reset, External Storage, and Android Secure all say "FAILED."
So then I went into "mount" which prompted Windows to open a Window that said "You need to format the disk in drive x: before you can use it." I have NOT clicked "format disk" because I'm not sure what it is formatting. Before hitting "Mount USB Storage" there are 4 buttons to check 1) Mount System, 2) Mount Data, 3) Mount Cache, and 4) Mount SD Card. I can get the first 3 to check and say "Unmount" but I CANNOT get the SD card to "check."
Now that I've gone back into into Install it shows /sdcard and there is only one folder there which is TWRP. So I no longer have my "cleanrom.zip" on there because the SD has somehow been wiped. I guess when I wiped System it also wiped the SD card because the first time I installed cleanrom, I don't think it deleted the SD card.
Now I am scared to exit TWRP before know how to get a custom rom .zip BACK onto the sdcard so I can, you know, have a rom to boot into since mine has been wiped.
So that is the first problem. The second will hopefully be resolved (the com.android.phone problem) once I re-flash because when I searched the forums for the same error everyone recommended to wipe everything and I had only wiped the cache and dalvik cache...
Any help please...?
I'll help you out

Let your computer recognize your phone, bring up"my computer" and right click on removable storage. Hit "format" only bad thing you'll be wiped out. Once it formats, mount in recovery. Download a fresh copy of cleanrom to your comp, and drag it to phone. Flash entire cleanrom 5.1 through twrp.
Now you back on a stable rom to work with.
If you try anything else you'll have to use flash GUI app or fastboot kernels

CheesyNutz: Thanks for pointing that out, I really did not see that sticky so I won't ask anymore questions in General...
InflatedTitan: Thanks for the help. When you say "mount in recovery" does that mean I will need to do the Power on with Volume Up trick? Or will I remain in TWRP? That's the only thing I'm afraid of is not being able to get back into bootloader or TWRP...
I've always flashed roms through CWR (and now TWRP) so I am not very familiar with the "manual" way. (i.e. I'm lazy.)

For some reason HTC took the option to mount and transfer files easily. Its faster now to boot into twrp to transfer :/

Don't forget to flash boot.img in fastboot before/after flashing the ROM if you were from 2.20 firmware.

Hi all,
My evita was a bit slow so I performed a factory reset from the bootloader... stupid idea as it removed the OS (ROM) from my SD. I tried to push a ROM in the device, it said it was successful but there is still nothing on my SD card.
In the bootloader adb is not detecting my phone, fastboot is working though. Sideload is not working.
When i try to wipe anything from TRWP it says : it says "failed to mount 'sdcard' (invalid argument)"
Charac:
EVITA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT2.15.0000
TWRP 2.8.7.5
Could you help me???

I found the solution : Plug the phone to the PC, open in TWRP recovery / click on mount, then the PC ask to format the device, format in fat32. Then copy the rom to the sdcard. Flash it with TWRP. Done!
