[Q] Is it possible to go from a 4.2.1 rom to a 4.1 rom - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I flashed CM10.1 and I decided against it, so then i did a full wipe and tried flashing Hydro 4.1 and I got suck of the boot logo. No matter many times i wiped and flashed, it would not work, I even wiped my user data. Then I tried flashing CM again and that worked, but still no luck with hydro

Yes it is possible. I have gone from CM 10.1 to CleanROM 3.2 several times without any problems
Not sure why you are getting a bootloop, but i can say that i had a similar problem with The Ultra Fast ROM from surdu_petru. I tried manny times but did not work. I havent tried this, but after installing Hydro try to wipe dalvik chache.
BTW, what recovery are you using?

Seems to me hydro is based on stock and flash directions have you on stock prior to flashing. Stock kernel required before flashing hydro and several others.
Good Luck!

@up yes. When you try to install Officall Asus Jelly Bean Hydro, you have to install Asus stock JB, and at the next you should format System and flash JB Hydro.

PRIME issues

Ok so i was running Android Revolution but after repetedly being unable to use my dock i decided to switch back to prime. I noticed a few of my apps werent compatible anymore because it was showing my device as the TF101G and not the tf101. is there any way to change this back? i tried installing the 3g toggler but nothing has changed. Thanks in advance for any help

Which version of Prime did you use?
If it's 2.1.0 it shouldn't have the 3G script in it.
Seems like that's what solved it for this member at least
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20354980&postcount=3
yes its 2.1.0 withe the 2.1.1 patch. just flashed the diabler again with no change. just shows TF101G

You might want to back up your apps and do a full wipe and flash again.
Restore app + app data only and not system data. Good luck man hope you get it
working
Did a full wipe by flashing the android revolution full wipe and tried 3 different roms including the android revolution I originally had and nothing will change it back to tf101. Any other ideas?

CWM or TWRP?

I finally got my replacement Infinity from Best Buy and it seems like its a keeper Given that some decent looking JB roms have appeared I am going to unlock. I am having some indecision about which recovery to use before the flash-fest begins.
I use TWRP on all of my other devices but after reading the thread in the dev section I am a little hesitant about using it on my TF700. Specifically, it seems like some people have been having problems restoring because TWRP doesn't deal with restoring /boot properly. I had exactly the same problem with my Prime and all of my TWRP nandroids were useless without flashing a kernel after restoring. This is a bit of a problem if this happens with the TF700 since there are no custom kernels available yet.
These are my questions:
- How common are the problems with restoring TWRP nandroids? Can most people successfully restore with TWRP?
- How well does CWM perform? Looking at the thread it seems like it works just fine or am I missing something?
I appreciate all of your input. Thanks!

To be honest i have the same problem with CWM ,it doesn't restore /boot so you can't switch between various roms by just just restoring your backups. This beeing said i didn't had any issue with TWRP and so far is more user friedly than CWM.

I have been using TWRP exclusively and have been going back and forth between 4 different roms, restoring from each, and have had zero issues. I believe the problems reported related to those who had flashed the TF300 JB update and replaced their bootloader with one for TF300. If they hadn't made a full nandroid prior, I think they were stuck with that bootloader until the most recent .30 ota update. I could be wrong, but I think these issues you heard about were related to the TF300 bootloader.

Thanks okantomi. I'll try TWRP but keep the stock rom on /sdcard in case of emergency. Now, which rom shall I try...decisions, decisions

Of the JellyBean Roms, the 9/14 versions of Baked Black Bean and the CM10alpha work well, but the latest version of CM10 (9/18) won't boot all the way into the os. Hiemashu is working on it. Also the TEAM EOS Jellybean has issues (random reboots and newest doesn't boot). My best recommendation would be to flash the ZEUS v4.0 ICS Rom. It's complete and nice and fast. You won't be sorry. Read all of the OPs and follow instructions. Have fun!
The problem with CWM can be solved quite easily. It doesn't restore the kernel properly. So therefore you have to flash the kernel after you restored.

[Q]My problem with stock and stock based ROM

Hi everyone,
When I use stock or stock based roms and I "Wipe cache and dalvik cache" ONCE then I keep getting Android is upgrading EVERYTIME I boot up. Does anyone know how to fix this or what kind of problem is this

Zip align feature? What is that?

It is listed as one of the features of cleanrom to zip align on boot. I have read that when apps are zip aligned that performance is better.

I'm sorry if you haven't previously been on cleanrom or one of the others that uses zipalign then I don't know the reason for your issue.
I'll try to do some poking around to emulate the problem. Stock, which version? I run 10.4.2.18 as my baseline rom and have never seen your issue. What rom were you on previously?
I'll flash your previous setup and then your current to recreate the issue!

Well it started when I use energy ROM, but then I move to stock ROM .18 then .20. Both .18 and .20 when I wipe cache and dalvik cache once then it started...Maybe it's because I have official zip (.20) in my eternal memory... But I don't think that's the problem. Now I'm using CM10.1.

Good, I'm glad you have managed to lose the problem. I have not been able to create the issue with energy rom. After flashing I don't have the problem or zipalign. I flashed both the regular and the debloated without an issue but as I said I don't find zipalign in the rom even though it is stated as a feature.

Why do you think it is an issue? It takes 3 sets to complete. It's just a bug, ignore it and worry about something more serious :victory:

Odd issue with cwm for JB.

Ok I hope you all can help sort something out for me. I just got a refurbished TF300T a couple days ago. I unlocked it in ICS and then it forced the OTA of 4.1.1 on me. I had no problem getting ADB drivers in and flashed the jelly bean recovery. I rebooted into recovery and there was cwm. I tried flashing the rootzip that is out there but it did not work. I then tried to do a bakup and it failed. I then realized i could not see emmc only sd.
Any ideas.
I have a rooted modded nooktab so i am somewhat familar with these devices but i am stumped.
Thanks for the help

I'd try manually flashing the firmware and then flashing CWM again, or TWRP which some users will argue is much better than CWM.

Thanks for the tips. Yea in a tough spot. Not sure what to do. I will, search around. You think flashing the firmware will work. Should i flash stock recovery too.
Odd issue. Wonder why they did this?

Just read the post again if you are still on 4.1.1 the disreguard what i had mention theres probably away to fix which im sure some one can help but what i had talked about was the 4.2.1 jb update attempting to root on that is a no go. So just ignore that post. I'm on stock 4.2.1 but unlocked bootloader so can't help there cant go any further myself at the moment.
In my setup menu theres an option to add seperate users some seem to think that it encrypts the information so another person who has access under another user name cant see another person info. Sound logical to me but really messed things up for us.
Now still thats all just speculation no one knows for sure what the exact issue is with the 4.2.1 update is yet but best advice is to wait till it's figured out.

Flashing TF300 ROM on the TF700

Hello there,
Since the TF300 and the TF700 are almost identical I was wondering if some CM10. 1based ROMs (PAC-man ROM) can be flashed on the TF700? Does anyone have some experience in this (or with any other TF300 based ROM -> Hydro ROM) ?

If the kernel is a pure TF300 one at worst it won't boot, at best it'll boot but you may have some issues like no USB, camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc
You could flash a working TF700 kernel and a TF300 ROM and test it?

I tried and they boot, just no WiFi. I'm sure there are other things, but the no WiFi stopped me.
