HTC one x Clean Rom installed, unresponsive lock screen - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I installed Clean Rom 5.1 on my HTC one X, and it installed properly, everything was good, hone turned on alright but when it booted to the lock screen, its unresponsive to touch. the time counts up ad the bttery shows that its dying/charging but i cnt unlock the phone. anyone know how to fix this? ive tried clearing all the caches and ive tried factory resetting/system clearing but still, no movement.

Did you OTA update before rooting? to jb that is.

Is your htc a OneXL or att OneX, or perhaps yours is the international quadcore? More info please?

Does sound like you have the latest update (HBoot is version 2.14), which I have. Viper XL is working on my phone, other roms that use the stock kernel will work, though I'm not sure which ones do.

Cleanrom is ICS, you took the jb update
You will need to flash a jb sense ROM (such as viperxl) no way around it right now, sorry bro

JB will arrive when an official JB sense update is released..
And everything works fine.. Telstra will work with it
Go for it. My family has 3 of these things running Viper on Telstra. No regrets, Rom is faultless. I am not in a 4g area, so I can't comment on 4g.

Hi Guys
Running viper XL 2.3.0 and i love the rom. Just a couple of queries. I like many others cannot get LTE settings to stick. Whatever APN's are used or whatever settings are tried. I am a Telstra user. Can get it to work by fiddling resaving APN settings but doesn't stick whatever i try. Dont think it is APN related as i have used them all with no difference. Must be a bug? But in some Forums even stock Telstra ROM users are having the same issue.
My only other drama and this has happened twice once on stock kernel once on Elemental X. When the phone shuts off due to low battery and a recharge and restart is required i get into a boot freeze on the Beats One XL screen. Wiped cache and Dalvik same issue. Reinstalled Viper XL rom same issue. Reinstalled Viper XL with full wipe all good. Phone boots ok. Restored data only backup same issue boot freeze. Must be a data corruption issue?? Any ideas, i realise the obvious one dont let the battery run out however thats not always possible.
Thanks

Just flash away. It will install the kernel for you. If you want to add Elemental, I'd suggest using flash gui app. It's never failed me. Also, make sure you download the ElementalX1.5. I had issues with tweaks force closing on anything less than. 1.5.
If you want to ensure Viper installs correctly, get the flash gui app and follow the wizard. Then point the app to the viper zip, then flash it. Manually go into recovery (twrp) and wipe everything, including system and do a factory reset all inside twrp.
Follow the install instruction and your going to then love you're phone even more

only the AOSP roms are based on 4.1.2.. Sense is only 4.1.1, and since you are on the latest firmware, you will only be able to run the sense 4.1.1 roms

Is it time to repeat the general rule that YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE OTA UPDATES IF YOU CARE ABOUT ROOTING AND UNLOCKING?!
Honestly, people.

Well i OTA JB updated before i rooted my phone and knew of all this greatness. I didn't know it would **** over everything! DAMN THIS SUCKS.
Anyways how would i have upgraded to JB without OTA for future references(updates) ?

So you're saying you took the OTA before you knew about what rooting was? If so, than that's somewhat understandable. iElvis's statement was to the many many people here who have taken OTAs when they are already rooted, or not rooted yet, but intend to root. In that case, taking the OTA should be understood to be a no-no, at least not without the proper research before taking the OTA.
With very little exception, there is no benefit to accepting OTAs. The content of the OTAs will show up in Development (usually quite soon) in a safely flashable format. And the OTA can do a lot of harm, as you have now seen.

The stock ROM will usually show up in Development in a recovery-flashable format, pre-rooted, and devoid of any nasty hboot or other meddling. Often, these get posted within days (or even hours) of the OTA deploying. Sometimes even before the OTA (in the case of leaked RUUs).

You get a pass, but as redpoint said, many others should have known better.
When kernel source is released (soon), this problem should go away.

Oh so to update to 4.1.2 i would have to flash a Kernel, which hopefutlly comes in as quick as possible ! Thank you IElvis and redpoint
Someone should be able to fix this soon, the same thing happened on firmware 2.20 no? Just be patient. Even though being able to flash new roms all the time has kind of become too much of an addiction.

transition to 3.4

I'm currently on a pre 3.4 kernel ROM, and I am going to be upgrading to the latest cm nightlies. I think I have a good grasp on the steps that I need to take. but I am just unsure of a couple things..
-after Im done with s-off and the 3.18 ruu, do I have to reroot by reinstalling twrp, then reflash a rooted rom?
-Do I have to upgrade/downgrade my touchscreen panel after the transition proccess? or is that only necessary if I want to use a twrp version 2.3.3.1+? and if so, am I missing anything by staying on twrp 2.3.3.0 which has worked for me for the longest time?
-is the transition to 3.4 really worth it? are the screen tearing and lag, that plagued pre 3.4 roms fixed or improved? that's my main reason of upgrading other than the obvious one which is being on the latest and greatest..
I would really appreciate any feedback on this matter. I have been procrastinating on transitioning because I just don't know if It is really necessary. my phone is working just fine, albeit with the lag and some tearing. Thanks guys!

After RUU you just need to flash TWRP again, I recommend using version 2.6. You can find it here. It has a much better wipe interface, plus you won't need to downgrade ts firmware. Then just flash a rooted ROM.
You don't need to downgrade your touchscreen firmware, unless you want to use older 3.0 kernel ROMs, and the first generation of 3.4 kernel ROMs.
I believe it's worth it for a few reasons. There is no screen tearing on the newer ROMs, there is an increased amount of ram available, plus some have reported an increase in performance and general smoothness since running the RUU.

You should be fine as long as you don't flash any nightlies from more than about two weeks ago I think. You'd be better off flashing the latest anyway I guess.
Or even better, the new cm10.2 (android 4.3) should be up and running properly soon. At the moment I think the only bugs are SMS/MMS and camera not working but they should be sorted pretty quickly I'd think. Plus that'll include the new cm Focal camera which looks pretty neat.

...and bluetooth, which is really the dealbreaker for me, and why I haven't jumped on it yet. Either way though, you'll want to run through the upgrade process. It's only a little bit painful, and it'll "futureproof" your device for whatever else is new that comes down the line in the future.
just an update, I now have s-off. my next step is to ruu. I'm just wondering, can I restore the rom that I am currently on (liquidsmooth) through twrp, in which case I have to downgrade my touchscreen panel (cause its a pre 3.4 rom) after ruu? or do I wait to ruu after the 3.4 cm nightly builds gets more polished?
Sent from my sexy One XL
It depends what you want.
If you want to restore your backup, you'll need to flash TWRP, and downgrade your ts firmware.
Or you can flash TWRP, leave the ts firmware the way it is, and download one of the latest 3.4 nightlies.

I was under the impression that as long as I use twrp 2.3 3.0 or 2.6 that I don't have to alter my tp? just an inquiry, should I go ahead and go to the 3.4 builds, or stay on my current rom? Is the new cm builds on par if not better than pre 3.4 roms albeit both has their own bugs?
Sent from my sexy One XL
Use TWRP 2.6, it's great and has no bugs, and you won't need to alert your ts firmware. People are still reporting a few bugs on 3.4 but I've run some of the 3.4 Carbon builds and they were solid.
Sent from my Evita
nvm. I think I got it now. I think I can't use ANY 3.0 aosp roms w/o downgrading tp period.. correct? so either I stay with my current rom and downgrafe my tp, or just flash the 3.4 roms. hmm.. I'm just trying to avoid messing around with the tp if I can help it.. idk.. just lazy I guess. I think I'm just going to take the plunge and go to new cm, and go from there if I don't like it... thank you so much sir..
Sent from my sexy One XL
i just finished the ruu process. I'm currently on the stock rom w/root thanks to twrp 2.6! I can't believe how I can get root access now from recovery.. I think I'll stick with stock rom for the meantime.. Im amazed at how my phone is running like new. I missed sense for a bit. I've been on aosp since cm 10.1 nightlies initially came out the first time.. man that was awhile there.... thank you all so much for helping me out! it's great to be back in the loop of things once again here in the community! cheers!

[Q] Not sure which custom ROM to go with

Hi all,
I've been digging around this subforum and the unbranded M8 forum, I'm trying to figure out which custom ROM I want to go with but can't decide- they all have really neat features which I like.
I have an HTC One M8 Verizon, running an official/dev bootloader 1.55.605.2, unlocked bootloader, S-OFF and rooted, stock Android 4.4.2 Sense 6.0
I'm considering InsertCoin, but am not sure if it's compatible with my current setup, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727300
Also considering VenomOne, but again, not sure about the bootloader version, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705292
Any ideas or advice? Switching my bootloader is not something I really want to do at the moment, but I could if needed. The reason why I'd rather not switch it is because I have a bootloader which is signed by HTC & has full adb root/su
Since you accepted the OTA before you rooted and are on the latest build number you can run both of those fine.

Either will work fine with your setup. I keep trying different AOSP roms but keep coming back to Viper. Still too many bugs yet for me to use as a daily driver.

Viper is known to be the king of customization. Everything can be changed and I mean everything. I've heard very nice things about insert coin too however. Its really up to you! Make a backup, and give em both a shot! You may also want to consider nV ROM I've heard nice things about that too. I myself am content on CleanROM as I said until aosp is more straightened out.

Awesome! Thank you, I'll look into all of these-
Quick question before I flash my stuff, is it possible to install ViperOne without changing my boot image? I'm looking inside the viper zip and there's a boot image there.
Try the newest GPE. I have been running it for over a day and that is the longest I have been off Viper. A few cosmetic issues but been very solid and is nice and light. About as close to the pure Google experience as you can get.
Oh yea, and it's the first 4.4.3 rom out for the M8 I believe.
Agree gpe ROM is great

I like the Skyfall but always come back to Viper for the exchange mod. If they would add that to Skyfall I would stay there.
Why not try 'em all?
When you install a custom ROM and configure it to suit you with all your apps installed backup your apps, etc. and then reboot to recovery, backup your ROM and wipe and install the next ROM.
It'll take you a few days but you'll find the one you like and be able to switch anytime by rebooting into recovery and restoring the backup of the ROM you want.
FWIW, I was running CyanogenMod last night but had a problem connecting to the free WiFi in the restaurant so I rebooted to recovery, did a backup of CM, deleted old backup of CM and restored my Clean Rom back up to see if it would connect, it did and now I'm on Clean until CM gets a few more updates to fix WiFi, it took only a few minutes to switch.
