Head phones problem - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi,
The problem occurred while I was speaking on my hands free. The person I was talking stopped hearing me. Since then I could not use my handsfree, it just does not take calls when I push handsfree button. But I still can use them as headphones - listen music etc. But phone does not react anyhow on handsfree button - although it should stop/play music. Phone does recognize that the handsfree is connected - the icon appears on the tom when I'm plugging in the handsfree. I have noticed one this also. Before when I plugged wire connected to my AUX input in the car it showed on the phone icon for head phone (no microphone on the icon), now no mater what I'm plugging in it show headphones and microphone.
I have tried soft and hard reset.
Please help

Are you rooted? Have you flashed a custom ROM?

I do know what does it mean "rooted". How would I flash the ROM. The only thing I have tried is soft and hard reset.

Wait, OK, sorry. I wasn't clear before and made assumptions. The headset problem you have sounds similar to one that was a problem on a custom ROM awhile back. Since you aren't using a custom ROM, I'm being uselessly unhelpful and you should ignore me.

3.5mm Male to Male w/ Mic

Anyone bought one before for use w/ the Eris? Looking to use this for audio to home stereo or car aux input but also not have to unplug it to use the phone. This way I can use it as hands free in the car. I've found this one for $10.99
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=41130&cat=3811
and this one for $9.99
http://www.thinksamsungcaptivate.com/samsung-captivate-wired-headsets-10329.html
but it says it's for the Samsung Captivate.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
J
Cool find. Exactly what I have been looking for. I haven't used it or known anyone that has, but I'm probably going to buy it just to try it out. I'll report back with findings unless someone beats me to it.
I personally use a standard line (no mic) keep the phone on my lap and am able to have conversations as if I am wearing a blue tooth headset. Although if this is for your car stereo you do have to take into consideration of the stereo volume cause the conversation can echo back to the person that you are talking to

For some reason that doesn't work for me. I tried it but have to unplug the cord to talk. I can hear them just fine but they can't hear me (no music on either) That's why I started looking for this. I wonder if it's a setting on the phone somewhere...

Assuming that you didnt hit the mute button on the phone, there may be other factors that are giving people on the other end problems hearing you.
a) is your phone rooted? if so, what rom are you using?
Check with the dev who created the rom. Could be possible that you have a older rom version. One of the last updates that VZW pushed out to the eris was for the "sound bug" If you are using a older rom, it could be a possibility that the update was not "cooked" in cause of the date of the ROM. You will see more DEVs stating in their ROM descriptions that is has the recent updates. Using one of thoser ROM may fix that.
b) if your phone is not rooted then is all the updates installed? You can check by doing the following
menu - settings - about phone - system updates
c) depending on where your phone is placed, (ie my lap), seat belts, clothes or some thign else is blocking the phones microphone.
d )slim chance but any chance that the people who can not hear you are only eris users them selves? If yes then see a) and b)
I just use the phone itself as the microphone and the audio routes over the stereo. But of course we don't have laws against talking on the phone here.
Wow, nobody posts in this particular forum. Well, I was just thinking about this type of product today, and seeing it on the forum, I had to buy it.

I know this is an old post, but...
When I try that the other person can't hear me. Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

Hissing when audio starts

So not sure what's up, using that icecream fake rom and OC kernel, and I hear audio hissing most noticible through headphones when there is a noise, there is a hissing going on. It stops after audio stops though, not sure what's up.
I don't know if my rom and kernel are related to this, may have been here before? Anyone else notice this?
Try putting different rom and see the issue is still there cauz I been running ice cream rom with faux123's kernel and never had single problem like this.

Just tried this and still the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426590
Guess my phone is broken?
Also tried returning the ICS one to stock same problem. Also tried it on my hd595 headphones, same problem.
I should mention it does it on the speakers as well, but it's much less noticible.
Do factory reset and if its still bad than you have bad hardware.

By factory reset do you mean like unroot and all?
Well try out stock rom first and if you still have problem than i am pretty sure its ur phone but going stock won't hurt because you would be returning them any way.

It's not your ROM its he audio chip in the phone. There is a thread in skyrocket general where we have been discussing it.
Only workaround is bluetooth or higher quality headphones kinda mask it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428792
So what exactly did you guys do for workaround?

Wait so all phones do this? But I mean it's so loud... well there is a tiny scratch on it too, might as well replace it anyway.
I can't use bluetooth headphones though because I have an icontrolpad and I don't think it can connect to multiple audio devices. Oh well, I don't use it for heavy music stuff, but I mean it's just really loud that hissing.

Nothing, you either ignore it or go bluetooth

Yup, just some of us notice it and others don't. I forget about it unless I try to hear for it. If it's extremely loud I'd get a replacement
So replaced it, same problem. Oh well, but I mean I guess you can ignore it, but hissing bugs me, not enough to not love this phone though.
Even have LTE in Pleasanton.
Thx fags for help anyway

Can't hear the caller

Hi,
My Samsung Omnia i8350 was working great but suddenly today I can't hear the caller at all, although they can hear me. Tried everything from changing the SIM to calling different carriers but no luck.
I hope there's a fix for this?
Thanks!
Yes. The fix name is the "manufacturer's warranty".

Hmm, it's a pity... BTW, did you tried Bluetooth or regular headsets (headphones)? Or wait... Check first - may be you accidently paired with Bluetooth device/headphones?
I would definitely suggest trying both headphones and a headset.
Also, silly question, but did you chek the in-call volume? It's different from the volume used in the rest of the phone (it's the *only* different volume meter the OS has, somewhat to my annoyance). I know I've accidentally pressed and held the volume-down rocker while on a call a time or two.

Any reason the headset might stop working?

I recently switched from CM10 to JellyBam version 5.2. It is running Android 4.2.1. Ever since I installed it (and I've tried re-flashing it twice) the audio is only coming out of the main speaker and not the headphone jack. Does anyone know why this would happen?
Update:
It seems to not be recognizing the headphones at all. When I set it to make the phone silent when I plug in headphones nothing happened.

If you check that thread you'll see that there are problems routing sound to the headphones in this release.....ther's also a suggested fix as well.

I see that a permanent fix is on it's way through some code change. Others report that app works for them, hope you have the same experience.
It foes work... However the auto detect wasn't working for me... When I use headphones I had to set it that way
.. Using the speaker I had to set it to speaker... Its not jumping through hoops as its just checking an option. But it does indeed get the job done

Changed my digitalizer on my OPO, problems with loud speaker?

Hello, this is my first post on XDA I recently bought a OPO from a friend fairly cheap, he just changed the digitalizer on it as he cracked the screen. The only problem was that the loud speaker stopped working when he replaced it. Everything else on the phone is working fine. I've opened up the phone to look at the ''motherboard'' which the speakers connect to, can't see any issues (would post a picture on the parts i mean, but since i haven't made 10 posts i can't have links in my posts). Now, can it be this part acting up? As i read somewhere that this part also controlls the vibration, and the 3 buttons in the bottom of the phone. But those work just fine. Or could it be the actual speakers? But i couldn't think that he could possibly manage to break the speakers somehow... Any suggestions? Also, english isn't my main language so excuse me if there are any errors in my text

Make sure the daughter board(speaker assembly) at the bottom of the device is properly aligned and well screwed.

Yes, the speakers were working before he changed the digitalizer. I'm on Cyanogen 12.1-YOG4PAS1NO, no custom rom or recovery on the phone.
