[XAP] Internet Sharing + Interop Unlock all-in-one for Samsung Phones
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As long as your device is unlocked in some way (Developer/Chevron/Other) you can get internet sharing on your Samsung phone.
IMPORTANT: If you updated to 8107 via Zune you may have also updated your phones firmware. If this is the case you will not be able to use this hack. I would suggest rolling back to 7720/7740 and updating via CAB Sender using the cabs in Heathcliff74's thread.
1.) First install the WP Dev Tools and unlock your Samsung phone.
2.) Use Microsoft's Application Deployment Tool to send THIS (Update 8107 use THIS) to your phone. Don't run it, delete after it has been deployed.
3.) Install the Diagnosis app by typing ##634# on the phone keypad.
4.) After the Diagnosis app starts type *#9908# and select 'System Tweaks' press 'Save' then 'Close' and RESTART your phone.
5.) Your phone now has internet sharing and as a bonus is interop unlocked!
6.) (optional) Press the 'thanks' button at the bottom of this post if it worked for you.
PS: You need to have a recent mango firmware on your phone or your diagnosis app and drivers will not be new enough to work.
EDIT: I built the file depoyer using the tools provided by Heathcliff74 so many thanks to him! Also, ADC is built in to this as well so no need to worry about that. I also upped the max number of connections from 3 to 5 devices.
NOTE: If you have internet sharing turned on (active hotspot) you will not be able to deploy XAP's untill it is turned off. Also, as with any xap, you need to have your screen unlocked to deploy this to your phone.
SECOND NOTE: If you can't get any XAP's to deploy try turning ICS on then off again, it may correct some errors.

That seems to have done the trick. I am guessing that with sim security turned on ADC is not doing what its supposed to because the sim card is locked until the OS has fully booted and I put in my pin to unlock it. Since I really dont know what ADC does this is just a guess however I have only had a few minor data issues since turning sim security off. Anyone else out there having data issues should give this a try and let us know if it helps out.

Recently unlocked an AT&T HTC Surround to use it with my T-Mobile service and everything works fine except I can't receive or send MMS messages.
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me? I've googled and search everywhere and all I get is to download the Connection Setup App but apparently it doesn't exist anymore?
Also, I saw something about using Mango? But I'm confused about that.
For some reason, HTC has pulled the Connection Setup app from the marketplace (no official reason that I've seen as to why). They haven't revoked it from phones where it's already installed, but if you don't have it already you can't just install it from the HTC Apps section anymore.
If your phone is dev-unlocked (and interop-unlocked if on Mango), you can sideload Connection Setup and it might work. If not, I can't help you. Sorry!
How do I dev-unlock and interop-unlock on Mango? I downloaded Mango but have no idea how to use it on my phone.
Right now my phone is just unlocked so I can use my t-mobile sim card and service on it. I don't know what that is called?
From what I've heard is you just hard reset it and it should be fine?
@wedbaby: If you phone is on Mango already, there's no known way to interop-unlock an HTC phone without rolling it back to pre-Mango. Dev-unlock can be done by getting an official developer account ($99 unless you're a student) or through ChevronWP7 Labs (http://labs.chevronwp7.com) for $9. It has nothing to do with SIM-unlock (what you did to your phone already).
MMS issue on HTC Surround for TMobile solved
As I got no help from TMobile support team on MMS problem I had to find my own way . Here it goes:
1. Go to settings.
2.Choose cellular.
3.Set Data transmission to on.
4.Roaming- setting does not metter.
5.Here comes the trick: Network selection has to be manual, manually select TMobile.
6.Enjoy
I have three HTC Surrounds in my family. All of them have DFT Mango rom installed, and they are unlocked (sim and dev).
Let me know if it works for you guys.
I purchased an (at&t unlocked)HTC SURROUND but I am on the tmobile network....SOOOOOO...I called tmobile...Who told me that ''they couldnt promise me that they could help me and if the info they give me was gonna work.''......But their info actually did get my HTC to sending and recieving MMS messages INSTANTLY!... So I want to share this with you hoping that it will solve your issues also.....
1. From the MAIN screen..Tap MARKETPLACE...
2. Tap HTC APPS
3. Scroll down and tap CONNECTION SETUP (wait a few seconds and an INSTALL icon should pop up at the bottom of the screen)
4. Tap INSTALL
5. You will see the screen jump back and you will see CONNECTION SETUP dowloading to the phone
6. Once it dowloads...Tap CONNECTION SETUP
7.Tap the bottom of the screen to pull out a pop-up
8. Tap MANUAL SELECT
9. Tap COUNTRY and select UNITED STATES
10.Tap CARRIER and select TMOBILE US
11. Tap the ''check mark''
12. Once it shows that it has configured to the network...power your phone off n then bck on...
THEN TRY AND SEND URSELF A MESSAGE!!!...HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!
Short version: "Use the Connection Setup app". You might not have noticed, but when this thread was posted that app wasn't available in the marketplace (the OP specifically mentioned it). Thanks for necroposting, though!
Wow!!!!...thanks...smh... I apologize for givn a step by step set-up!!!...smh
And there is availability of a xap to install? And not found in the market
Connection Setup shows up in the market just fine for me... are you not on an HTC phone?
It's under the HTC Apps section.
Ok, I did this on my Samsung Focus, which is dev unlocked. The internet sharing works great to be honest. It says that it will Interop unlock your phone as well but I have a new problem now as when I tried to deploy the Advanced Configuration tool to my phone, it keeps giving me an error saying my device is not connected and I need to make sure it is connected to my pc. Yes, it is and Zune recognizes it but I cannot get any other apps to sideload any longer. Nothing else seems to be wrong but the Application Deployment keeps giving me the same error message. Has anyone else tried this and had luck, or the same problem. Please help if you can, thank you. I want to get custom themes for my phone bad. I already have the battery percentage app, the folders app, and the screen capture app which are all great. Any help would be appreciated.

uhh yeah where is this XAP?
i just followed heathcliff74's guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334248
I used this right here. ^^^^ It had worked as advertised and was quick and easy. I have internet sharing and it works. Like I said, I tried to deploy the Advanced config tool but now I can't seem to deploy any apps to it. The deployment tool just tells me It can't connect to the device, make sure it is connected to the pc. It is and it is synced with zune so I don't know what the problem would be.

Ok I just checked with few XAP Files and I got a same error for one but not for other.
I tried installing the NokiaMap App which is on the xda forum it failed but the Battery App worked.
I just get the same connection error no matter what app I try to sideload now.
You don't by chance have internet sharing on while you are trying to deploy do you? This possibly could cause problems. I just my XAP on two of my devices and it worked on both and I can still side load other apps including ones I know are interop unlock required like WP7 Root Tools so perhaps there is something wrong with the XAPs themselves.
EDIT: When in doubt when dealing with anything Windows try a reboot of both the PC and the phone.

Voluptuary, I am pretty sure I didn't have it one as I rebooted everthing multiple times but I did turn it on and try to deploy and got the same error message. Then I just turned internet sharing off and redeployed and it loaded, just like that. I am not sure why or how but I got the advanced config tool on my phone now. What I wanted on my phone most was that tool so I can change my theme colors. Now I am smiling. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
No errors, but no Internet Sharing menu
Hi, so I followed all the instructions and got no errors:
deployed XAP - no errors
loaded up diag tool, and entered codes, selected system tweaks - no errors
although it just sits there and says "loading GPRS Profile for system tweaks"
chose Save and rebooted phone
There is NO Internet Sharing option in the main settings menu..
@voluptuary
Where are the Hotspot entries supposed to go? HKLM/Services/Hotspot or Classes Root/Hotspot?
Are there supposed to be entries with the following names, because my i937 has none of these?
Enabled
MOInfoLink
MOHelpNumber
MaxUsers
Connection
WifiChannel
EntitlementURI
IdleTimeOut
Having a crazy day. Got the new ChevronWP7 unlock last night. Did the internet sharing interop combo. Now get error trying to reload xap files. Trying to put on accentchanger file.
Error - failed to connect to the device. Ensure that the device is connected..
The xap app is not supported
You have to deploy supported xap only
Ex:
Screen cupturer
Nokia maps
Battery status
Tango, but it is now in marketplace
Some other apps like Native keyboard are not working.
Good luck.

@verynuclear: Not sure what you think you're trying to say, but it's totally possible to use high-privilege apps like Advanced Config (which does custom accent colors, among other things). You just need Interop Unlock, which is easy on LG, possible (via an app) on Samsung, and difficult but not impossible on HTC (I have it on my HD7).
The problem is that after using the Interop-unlock app on his or her Samsung phone, the OP seems to be having trouble with the XAP deployment tools. @jgibo, I suggest you read and then post in the relevant threads for those apps, rather than starting a new thread.
The main reason for asking question is if the deployment tool stopped working for anyone else. After I got Chevron on there I was able to install screen capture, accent changer. Screen capture worked. So I removed accent changer and followed instructions for interop unlock install. Then saw the thread for internet sharing and interop in one. Installed that to phone. Got internet sharing Then tried a few different xap files and couldn't install any. So did that xap mess something up? Guess I will look elsewhere for answers.
This is all they have on MSDN site.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This can be caused by several reasons, including if the device is off. If the device is already connected, sometimes disconnecting and then reconnecting the device may fix the problem. Rebooting the device may also fix this problem
You do have internet sharing OFF right? You can not deploy XAP's with ICS on. I don't mean to be rude but it really does pay to read the whole post when someone gives instructions on how to do something before saying it messed up your whatever.

Of course if you have ICS off then I'm sorry for this little rant and all I can suggest is restarting your phone and PC and trying again.
ICS is and was off. Found other posts with same message. Currently reinstalling dev tools. I do IT support for a living and hate havinng to do troubleshooting on my own stuff From past experience with computers it is either a coincidence or cause when a new problem occurs. Hence the questions asked. I do remember seeing an odd usb error in system try when I was doing step 4. Did a troubleshoot on my Focus connection but that didn't help. Also tried all usb connections. If the reinstall doesn't work will have to get my htpc out and try on it.
Reinstall didn't work. Since it stopped after running system tweaks I am trying again. Wish the instructions had a note on how long after hitting the save button before it was done. Has the Loading GPRS Profile for System Tweaks on screen. I think I may have hit the close button yesterday while is was still showing Loading. Right now I am not touching phone till I see it go away. Unless you are supposed to hit close right after hitting save.
The settings are applied almost instantly, as soon as it says loaded after you hit save then you can hit close and restart. Another user stated they had to turn ICS on then off again before he could deploy XAPs. Another question, you haven't turned on wired tethering have you? I ask because if you don't set your phone back to Zune sync you also will get the error you are getting.
EDIT: Main question, does Zune see your phone when you plug it in at all? Can you sync media? Cause if you can't you have another issue that is beyond anything my XAP could have done.
That kind of worked. Turned on ICS then back off. Got Advanced Config to install. Now get UnauthorizedAcessException. Click ok and app closes. Go from one issue to another.
Hi
I just unlocked my samsung focus using my developer account and attempted to enable internet sharing from addictivetips.com:
Sorry I can't post links yet, these were the instructions:
Requirements
1) As told earlier, you will need a developer unlocked Samsung Focus or Samsung Omnia 7.
2) Download this link.
Instructions
3) Deploy the file you downloaded in step 2 of Requirements to your phone. If you are not sure how that can be done, you can try our guide on deploying XAP files to WP7 devices.
4) Once the XAP is in your phone’s app list, go to the device’s dialer and input ##634#. This will install the Diagnostics menu app on your phone. (Here’s a complete guide on WP7 Diagnostics Menu).
5) Enter *#9908# in the Diagnostics menu.
6) This command will take you to a new menu. From here, choose System Tweaks.
Hit Save followed by Close.
However, not only the internet sharing function doesn't work, I can no longer make calls. The phone can pickup the network (Rogers for me) but I cannot make calls or send text messages. The signal drops once in a while as well.
Any idea on how I can fix this?
Thanks,
Patrick
Forgot to mention. I've already tried rebooting, hard rest and formatting the phone.
Sim card works on another phone.
Also, I just tested 3G data and it's working. I just can't make calls or send/receive sms for some reason.
Have you tried using any of the connection repair tools? Most of the time the problem is that you lose your 3G connection, but they may well help if you lost your voice connection as well (which SMS also goes over, not data... it's weird).
You could also try manually setting your APN in the phone Settings page. That shouldn't be needed but it might help.
What is a connection repair tool? Can you direct me to a link?
I just restored the phone to pre-mango. Still no voice / sms...
I've fixed the issue...
Just to bring closure to this...
I found the full restore function in WP7's diagnostic menu. Fixed the call problem immediately after the restore.
Thanks a lot for the help. (and XDA's wiki)
If you look on the Interop Unlock thread in the Dev & Hacking sub-forum, it lists a number of tools and techniques there. Sounds like you found it yourself, though.

So I am on Simple Mobile on an unlocked Tmobile HD7. The problem is that everytime I run the HTC Connection Setup the phone detects Tmobile as the default conncection (which is because Simple Mobile does use Tmobile networks)
however when I manually select Simple Mobile from the provider list. MMS/Picture Message seems to work fine. Of course given the fact that Data Connection is active and we don't have much APN settings for MMS on Windows Phone Mango (yet).
So I was wondering if instead of using the HTC Connection Setup if I use some other OEM connection setup app like that of Nokia or Samsung using the xap marketplace changer,
would it still work ??? I don't want to run HTC Connection Setup again and again for it might relock my deepshining custom ROM.
Please answer.
It won't work. The various setup apps work using a type of configuration file called provxml. In order to have the permissions to apply these files, the apps need to call into a high-privilege system component (a software driver, usually). These components are OEM-specific (they're part of the OEM firmware, not part of the Microsoft OS) and therefore each app targets its own OEM's component. Connection Setup won't work on any phone without the HtcProvisionDrv.dll driver binary (so, on any non-HTC phone), and the other apps won't find the component they need on an HTC phone.
That said, why are you worried about relocking? That doesn't make sense. First of all, there's no reason why that would happen (you'd have to install the equivelent of the HTC Interop Unlock XAP, but with the provxml files set to lock the phone instead of unlocking). Second of all, a Full-Unlock ROM like yours doesn't need to worry about that anyhow. That's baked into the ROM and can't be removed without re-flashing the phone.

ok...got it...thanks for your reply. Well I was worried because I read it somewhere that running HTC Connection Setup might lock the device again. Can't remember where. Anyways it really is annoying to run the setup again and again...I wish there was a registry fix to input the MMS settings manually.
