I wouldnt actually say that. stock ICS worked damn good tbh, by far the best stock rom Ive ever encountered in an android device.
Of course, compared to, say, viperS 1.2.1 its quite garbage
As I said you can't downgrade to stock from stock jb without a dangerous bricking solution which is impractical for most people and he doesn't seem to be adept so.I.wouldn't suggest that solution to him.

Its actually very simple. You just need to know how to use terminal in linux, and how to follow directions. However, some users have experienced bricks after...I have done the downgrade, and I have had no issues.

read all this and u will figure out
Go through the guides on the index thread in the desire s development section.
Also read the tips on how to avoid bricking.
If done correctly, totally safe. Depends on your experience n patience too I guess. U haven't mentioned what version hboot etc you have which is the starting point.
Re your recovery thread, Google it or search xda, there's also a glossary...

Does revolutionary requires administrator to run? Cuz I don't hv the admin rights x( is there any method that I can bypass that? Sorry if this sound stupid
You will be fine with revolutionary,it's. What I used to do mine straight from virgin. it will S-off then drop the file you download from the site on the SD card and flash it to get root

Is it an AT&T phone?
If so, you can't unlock the bootloader, and thusly you cannot root.

The fact that it's refurbished has no bearing over whether or not it's rootable.
The main point of the question was if I should or shouldn't... If they didn't reset the bootloader or main circuit board I can end up with another brick. That's what I'm trying to avoid this time

I've been trying for HOURS to change the CID on my HTC One X att running 4.1.1 ( i think it's running 2.2, whatever that is).
I've tried all of the different one click methods to change the CID to no prevail.
Can anyone help me out?
Edit: It actually is running 3.1.8
You have to use the 3.18 method. I don't think there's a one click yet.

hello everybody! ive had a iphone for about 2 months now and couldnt take it anymore so i just bought a htc one s! i want to root it but i want to make sure i know everything that need to be done. i see the videos and the step by step processes but i have a few questions. every tutorial i see looks to be done on ics. i bought the phone and it was already on android 4.1.1. do the tutorials still apply? also when i plug my phone into my laptop it doesnt have the charge only/ sd mount (or whatever its says) like it does on ics version....it just says usb connected and wen i tap that it goes into hotspot and tethering options. it is a htc one s S4 so can someone please help me? thanks
You can still unlock boot loader the same way. To get s-off go through the development section till you find moonshine s-off
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
Ok now what exactly does s off do and do I have to do it in order to root?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
No you don'tHAVE to do it. All you have to do is unlock boot loader. S-off just allows you to flash whenever you want. If your s-on you have to flash the boot.IMG from the rom.zip through adb

Oh ok. So how do I go by rooting this thing when I'm on android 4.1.1

You can use hasoon2000's toolkit to unlock the boot loader then install a recovery

You don't necessarily have to s-off except for certain things. If you want to flash custom ROMs, can be accomplished even without S-Off

There are these ROMs TrickDroid and zenROM. Sense 5 based. Head over to the Development section you'll find them there. Read the requirements for flashing the ROMs. If it says S-Off is a must only then should you go for it. Otherwise no need.

It's not that difficult. Also try non-sense ROMs like CM 10.1, ILLUSION 2.0 by $droyd$ (very good and stable ROM), PACman ROM.
best of luck.
