Sometimes my phone suddenly gets brighter and dimmer. Usually in the morning and evening, so I'm guessing its tied daylight times. Anyone know how to stop it?
Thanks

It may sound stupid, but have you checked your brightness settings? Might be set to automatic.
It was. Does that change the level depending on external light?

Yes it does. There's a light sensor which regulates the brightness - powerfull light outside, the screen gets brighter. Darker enviromental light, the screen gets darker, all this to keep a comfortable brightness for your eyes, in every condition. In automatic usually the power drains less.

I think it might just be my phone but everytime i use the physical keyboard in light the led on the keyboard doesnt turn on but when i use it in the dark they turn on. Has anyone notice this?
ERrr I think the light sensor controls that. Especially if you have it to set auto.

Mine does that, think it is a power saving feature. Uses the sensor by the earpiece much the same way as the auto feature with screen brightness.

It is a feature of the phone. I work for the sprint store, and our rep tried to show us that like it was an actual selling point. If you put your thumb on the sensor between the speaker and the camera the light will come on.

Not to my knowledge, at least not on the stock rom. CM7 had settings you could adjust, I imagine when CM9 hits we will see the same.
:edit:
I stand corrected, thanks.

Wow never knew about that setting. It would be awsome if you were able to change the keyboard light to a different color

Looks normal if you have been looking at it. Live wallpaper and screen brightness have nothing to do with time screen is on. It will use less while on but is still on if you have it open and will use more than any other process.
Did they take away the ability too adjust the brightness by sliding your finger across the notification bar in the official 4.0.4 update?

I used custom roms so I didn't know. That sucks though I'll probably waste 100 hours this year going into settings to adjust the brightness

Many of the jb ROMs have the option to place a slider in the notification drawer. See screenshot next to the word "auto"
I'm running Orthus Five at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that the option is also in liquid, as well as other ROMs in this thread.

Ya I went totally stock bacause I didn't have enough time for all the flashing and updating of roms.

Get and App called "Display Brightness". It provides a transparent and auto-hiding brightness slider on the screen that works anytime the screen on on (lock screen, in apps, home screen, etc...)
it works well on the skyrocket... and yes, I'm still pissed that samsung took the notification bar brightness slider away.
Hello
I'm looking for an app that disables the screen backlight but leaves the screen on. I don't have amoled, so I know it is possible, it even happened sometimes by some ROM error. Do you know any of such apps? The screen backlight is using just to much energy and I want the phone to stay active.

i'm not sure if this app totally turns off the screen backlight:

Hi everyone, I want to set the brightness of my phone correctly for daylight and night time, I was wondering how should I tweak this settings without affecting battery? Don't understand how this works.
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
It just changes how bright the screen is with the given lighting around you.
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
I will just leave it like that, lol
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
Lol here's mine as an example. I mainly tweaked the lowest setting to be dim so I don't go blind when I turn my phone on in the middle of the night.
