Hi everyone,
Long time lurker but only got around to registering.
I believe I am getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wifi (5110) next week for my birthday.
Does TriangleAway reset the counters correctly on Jellybean on this model?
I would be looking to root the device but ideally I would like to reset the counter for warranty purposes.
Thanks
Yes , I did on JB 4.1.1 TriangleAway ver2.37
there's 2 counters that samsung keeps track of. triangle away only resets 1. with the other they can tell you have installed a custom rom. I have seen threads of people stuck on update, just like mine did. that only happened with jelly bean 4.1.1 and above. not sure if others have been able to bypass it.
This is true, I also did TriangleAway, but I did not encounter any problems.
The latest secondary boot loader Sbl.bin check the recovery partition on every boot and mark the counter if found unofficial recovery.
P31xx and P51xx partition map:
Code:
$ su
# ls -l /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.1/by-name/ <
lrwxrwxrwx root root 2013-01-20 08:04 CACHE -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p7

Code:

So if I root the Tab 2 using the stock recovery and CF-AutoRoot will it not change this recovery flag? It would seem logical as I am not changing the recovery.
will triangle away work for me
I have a p3100 with cm 10.2 and cwm recovery.
As said above there are 2 flash counters so will triangle away help me get back warranty.I plan to flash stock rom from sammobile once done with flash counter. So at the end will my status be completely stock???
If not what should i do to get my warranty back.
Thanks
This is indeed confusing

if you use by-name it will be universal as far as fstabs and updater-scripts.
Code:
/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
yes I know. I'll take that any kernel scripts for the kernel. This script uses the existing ramdisk of Rome.

I know, I've yet to figure out why tho. lol
I have my klte repos in my github.
not using any of the stock ramdisk in recovery, so not sure wtf the issue is.
and its not CWMT, its swipe. lol
Wont have CWMT until I can get internal fix and get the repo merged into cm repos.
And I can swap the kernel in the stock boot.img and you can test it. lol
As usual .

Developers,
Here are the Device partition mount points for the Galaxy S5 Development edition. You will want to make a data dump of these partitions so you have a safe and reliable backup of your phone.
I will make some data dumps for everyone to use should something happen to your phone. The only item you must back up yourself is the boot loader as this is specifically keyed to your device.
I will also make some ODIN flashable tar balls so you can easily rescue your phone with one click
Google "How to DD an Android partition block" if you don't know what this information below is used for.
Lots more to come!!! Stay tuned

DD the bootloader partitions
Follow me @Bash_array
Hey guys,
I am new to the custom rom community on android and have been going through the cooking my own rom guide using kitchen over here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195858)
I have been able to make the roms using stock roms provided on the http://sammobile.com/
Thing is i was never able to restore the roms i made using CWM after creation. I even tried restoring the stock rom (N915SKSU2COJ4_N915SSKC2COJ4_N915SKSU0COJ3_HOME) itself without any modifications. Just converted the update-script to updater-script.
Nothing seemed to work. However if i flash the stock rom (N915SKSU2COJ4_N915SSKC2COJ4_N915SKSU0COJ3_HOME.tar) directly using Odin either by .md5 format or the .tar format which i downloaded from http://sammobile.com/ it works fine.
However i realized that my Samsung Boot logo is also gone now instead there is a garbage colored screen which shows up sometimes even the last time running app or screen displays as the boot screen. And at times my screen won't turn on, or you can say the mobile gets so slow that it takes forever for it to light up again.
I believe that my partitions are messed up. Is there a way for me to restore all partitions now?
The phone is running on the same rom I was running before i started all this. However it not has issues like i mentioned above. Also the USB MTP or USB Storage doesn't working when i connect my phone to the computer either. But it connects as soon as i put it in the Odin Download mode. So i can still flash using Odin.
Please any help would be great.
Ok I got my USB back up and running using GSM dial code *#0808# and setting USB to AP mode (MTP+ADB). However every reboot this gets reset somehow. I have to dial the same GSM code again to enable my USB on the phone. But the slow performance issue is gone for some reason, at times the phone does not respond after it goes to sleep for a while. But that only happens occasionally.
But it would be nice if someone can help me make a custom rom for this device, maybe even restoring the bootlogo which showed nice crisp Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. I think this all happened because of some custom firmware i tried to load earlier which had direct writing method such as this
Code:
ui_print("Starting ...");
ui_print(" ");
ui_print("Boot Partition Writing ...");
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p8");
ui_print("System Partition Writing ... ");
package_extract_file("system.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p15");
ui_print("Recovery Partition Writing ... ");
package_extract_file("recovery.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p13");
ui_print("Pass");
ui_print("Wipe data & Cache & Dalvik and reboot system ");
Following are the partitions i have on my device now as i can use my ADB Shell again using USB.
Code:
[email protected]:/ $ ls -al /dev/block/platform/15540000.dwmmc0/by-name
ls -al /dev/block/platform/15540000.dwmmc0/by-name

Found some interesting article here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750645) on how to get my boot logo back. Will update the post when i have done that as well. I seem to be on the right track to restore though.
Does anyone know what the DNT -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 partition is for?
