I have scoured hte forums and seen nothign seeing as wm6 is so new. I also read that they didn't have the requires framework for voip in wm6 (or the release otu so far atleast). Is this true? Reason im askign is i instlled skype to give it a (long) shot since i was bored out of my mind, and when i go to load it tells me not everythign is there, pelase reinstall. This is with 2.2 mobile for smartphones off the site
Thanks

Well i foudn teh 2.2 beta which loads and so on. I tested it with regular calls (not to a land line, jsut using skype to skype) It works and then freezes up adn drops the conenction.. It works for a few seonds at first though, tried with a friends CPu to my 750.
ANy ideas about getting it to work fully? kinda of works.. then dies
thanks!
Skype 2.0
I had the same problem as you did.
Do a search for Skype 2.0 as 2.2 doesn't seem to work very well.
After installing 2.0 skype work well for me now.
Skype 2.2 beta works good for me. But the official release 2.2 crashs when i attempt to make a call.
hurm, maybe i have bad luck then... when ever i call, or recieve one (cpu to phone so far) it works for a few seconds, then locks up fo ra bit and disconnects the call, every time i've tried. Tried with 2.0 and 2.2 beta.. any ideas at all?
When i try to run Voice Commander I get an out of memory error. I am running version 1.6.19209 Anyone else tried this or gotten it to work?
I'm using 1.6.21040.
Gave an error during installation, but seems to be working as far as announcing calls and reading texts.
I have tried to installed version 1.6.21725 and it seems to work fine, but I tried to link to the key virtually using AE Buttons, everything collapsed. The lnk file just got deleted: any suggestion.
How did you guys use to assign to a key?
Was asking the same question. Install worked with one error message. The program works when I start it manually, but I cannot find a way to assign execution to a specific button press. Looking for ideas here.
Toby
i didnt link the button once i got the latest version installed and working. i jsut made a link and put it on the start menu instead and it works great that way
I've switched to 21725 and used aebutton plus to assign it to long press windows key, all works perfectly now.
I dont want to use aebutton plus, so I tried to use the old Long_Send.lnk and had no luck, am I doing something wrong?
or is it a diffrent name in 6.5
MSVC
I got that error too but it has stopped for some reason and now works well.
Version is v1.6.21040
I tried to upload a cab for you but it wouldn't upload.
I use MSVC for text to speech, to announce calls, read emails to me and announce calendar reminders.
This version won't read text msgs.
I don't use it for voice commands, Cyberon Voice Speed Dialer is much better for that.

WHICH LINK DID YOU USE, THE SHORT OR LONG ONE??
Thanks!
I got this error on the stock TP2 ROM as well. For me, it only occurred when I checked the box for announcing WMP selections.
Oh, regarding the MS Voice Command CAB, while it is not the reason the upload failed, XDA does not allow MSVC to be posted in CAB form since it can then be installed on devices that it is not licensed for.
MSVC cab
Oops!
Got it.

So was anyone able to get MSVC running with a bluetooth headset??
I mean initiating MSVC commands via the headset button and also get the commands itself in the headset?
I cannot get it run like this.

When I start MSVC, the command is repeated through the headset first time then it comes through phone speaker after that. Phone calls are directed through the headset ok. Strange.
I Think I've Found An Answer
If you go into the registry and go to:
\\HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand
and edit the value for VoiceCmdEnable to 1 (it was set to 0 on my HD2), then soft reset.
Now you should be able to get Voice Command working through BT, at least it's working for me at the moment.
It does not help fo rme at all...
No change!
Which version of MSVC do you use?
I'm not entirely sure, but in the Voice Command settings it shows v1.60.4622.0

In my case it is very similar, but when i activate voice command with the assigned button on my HD2 and not via the headset, everthing works as it should. Maby thats a indication how to get it worki`n the right way.
VoiceCommander Working
Hi,
Initially I couldnt get the BT to connect to VC (just got a BT disconnect beep in my ear).
Tried installing 2nd time (over the top), and seemed to 1/2 work but sometimes I would have to say name I wanting to dial through handset - then it would put call through BT - strange.
Finally, I noticed that if the BT headset was on when the phone was switched on (fluke that happened), it worked fine.
If the BT headset is switched on after the phone, it still plays up. Not tried turning BT on handset off and on whilst BT headset turned on yet - something to try tonight I guess.
Note : this only started working a day or so ago so not tested throughly yet.
My VC version is 1.6.4622.0.
I also noticed that on handango - a new VC version is available (updated 20/11/2009) which says works with Touch HD2 - but only USA voice at the mo so I'm waiting for the UK (hopefully released soon).
Hope the above helps.
Looks like I have an old version of Voice Command MSVC1.6.19214. How do I get a later version? Don't see why I should have to pay for it again when it is still 1.6.
Sorry, my bad - not working anymore. Worked for one day, then I get the same as everyone else
Hey gang,
I've got a Captivate i896 with Rogers and was wondering if there was any way to enable the integrated voice control? I'm running 2.1.
Does anyone know why it was disabled?
Thanks!
Not sure what your specific interest is. Can you be more specific?
I'm not exactly sure which voice controls you're talking about. If you're talking about the voice commands that allow you to send texts and emails and the like that is only available in 2.2. It is not a feature that is disabled in 2.1, it just was never implemented.
Hey. Thanks for the replies.
I was under the impression I had the option to use the mic on my earphone to control my Android device. I'm assuming there is no way to enable it?
I am running 2.1, which would explain my I have none of the good stuff. Hopefully we get a CM 6.1 for the Captivate in the not to far future!
you can install vlingo.
the stock keyboards dont have the microphone button and i think voice control only works for google search but i could be wrong i haven't used a stock rom in a while.
I still don't know what you want to control on the device.
Voice dial phone numbers, if I remember correctcly, just cannot be done very well on 2.1 Vlingo makes an attempt, but not very good.
With Vlingo, you can read text and email messages into it, but you need to speak very clearly.
It will not, at least last they told me, open third party apps. The latest does, but I think it may require 2.2...not sure
Vlingo has a promising app for using in the Car. You can set it to automatically come up based on a specific BT you turn on. And you can have it set to be 'listening', so you don't even have to push a button. HYou just say "Hey Vlingo". and it asks what you want. Problem is it doesn't listen (BTW this does require 2.2). By that I mean it hears when I say Hey Vlingo, but after that its like the mic is shut off, and it does not hear. I don't know if that is a bug in Vlingo (it is beta), or the leaked Froyo Rom I am running.
All in all, things sound like we'll be there some day, but not now.
Google Voice Action (also requires 2.2) is more accurate for dialing (in my experience) than Vlingo. But it is opposite of Vlingo. Where Vlingo can come up with the push of a BT button, but not hear; Google won't come up wiht a BT Button, but when you push the search button to bring it up, at least it hears.
The android keyboard has the mic button and accepts my speach just fine

Similar question: on 2.2 with the Google Voice Actions, is there any way to use them when not connected to wifi/3g? Anytime I try it says that there is no connection. I just want to call someone with it, not search. Should that require a connection also?

Have you tried the Nuance Vsuite (Voice Commands) that's on the Fascinate? I can post the .apk and .so files if you're interested.
I've used the voice command stuff w/o being on WIFI a lot.
On the Nuance stuff, I'd be glad to test it.
BTW...there is someone in the Cognition thread working on a program that will call up the Google Voice Search via Blue Tooth. I am testing it for him, and it seems to be working for me. Not sure when he'll be making it available to general public. He wants to add some features.

OK. The attached is from my stock D101 (Eclair) Fascinate /system. You can just flash the thing in with CWM if you like, or move the files yourself.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible if something breaks
Being as I have a Captivate, and am on 2.2, not 2.1, what I think I'll do is hold off testing until I am ready to do a new flash. DG has a new Cognition 2.2 ROM out, actually based off of a Vibrant rom, which I may flash after I see how it is going for everyone else.
So when I'm to that point, I'll test this first on current ROM, and post back then how it goes.
Thanks for the files.
I would hope that voice control would work over bluetooth and without 3G or wifi. Wouldn't it be a function of the phone? I'd hate to have to pay Roger's every time I want to use it.
I'm probably going to wait till a CM 6.1 release for the Captivate before I do anything with it. Roger's will be releasing 2.2 to Captivate users some time in January 2011 (which could mean any time really). Hopefully CM comes first. By then, 2.2 will be out no doubt.
This may be a bit confounded, but it works for me. I use four apps for voice control.
For phone calls, I've found Vlingo to be the most accurate. (but not so great at opening apps). You can also say things like "call the nearest Walmart" or "call a taxi"
For opening apps, I've found Choice Dialer to be the best (but no so accurate at phone calls). It also has lots of other features I don't use.
For Google searching, maps & navigation I've found the regular voice search to be the best.
And for defining words, spelling, math, translation, and a bit of fun, I've found Edwin to be the best.
Hope this helps!
The way that google voice control works is that it records your voice command then uses the servers on the internet to interpret the voice command. This allows more powerful servers with billions of voice samples, which now includes yours, to accurately interpret the voice command and respond quickly. That's why it needs either wifi or 3g connection. I'm not sure how Vlingo does it. It was so buggy on my 2.1 that I uninstalled it.
Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies!
I flashed Cognition a while ago and it voice control (long hold on magnify glass) works beautifully! Exactly what I was looking for and works like a charm.
I tried a couple of applications like Vlingo and it doesn't work nearly as good as the native function.
All credit goes the great mike1986. as this was taken from his thread.
Thanks to him Ive successfully been able to fix the bluetooth voice earpiece feature that was not working on the Rom in the signature.
Ive flashed my share of Froyo Roms and it seems that a lot of them have the same problem as well as some Gingerbread maybe.
The idea is to push the call/end button on your bluetooth connected earpiece to do various call related features without having to grab your phone, its all controlled via voice command.
Many people have been looking for a fix for this.. well here it is.
Directions:
Flash via CWM, reboot and you should have the feature fully functional.

I'm running RCMix 5.3 and the BT voice dialer works alright for me. Do I need this fix? The one thing I'd really like from the current ROM for BT voice dialing is to have a tone to cue me when the applet is ready to listen.

I am running AR 5.1.3. Voice dial works fine from the phone but when I try to initiate it from my bluetooth headset I get a Force Close of processcom.android.voicedialer. I uninstalled voice dialer with TB and then installed the bluetooth voice dialer from this thread via CWM and I still get the force close when initiating from my bluetooth.
Any ideas on how I can fix this other than flashing a new rom?
Okay I just flashed to LeeDroid which claims to have fixed the Bluetooth Voice Dial Problem and I still get a force close when initiating it from my headset.
Anyone have any ideas please????
Wow this is cool to have. Im not having much accuracy though. Ive got a 2 year old Jawbone Prime so my bets are that its the problem. Looks cool but hasnt played nice since day one. Anyhow this does work if you got a decent headset
Did you ever figure this out?

I'm having the same problem and would really like to see this fixed. When I tap the voice dialer app on the phone, it works as it should. However, it always FC when pressing the bluetooth button. I think the settings file associated with connecting the bluetooth button to the app is the problem, but I don't know what file it is or how to make it better.

Download Cyberon Voice from the market. It does cost a couple of bucks but it makes all problem go away on every rom you need BT with. At least for me it did!

missing voice dialer
I tried to flash it, and it didn't do anything. I'm using Virtuous Unity v1.27.0. I even tried to extract the app from the zip (which currently doesn't exist on my phone) and install that way, but it says "application not installed". Nothing happens at all when i hit the button on my bluetooth. With the stock rom, before installing VU, it would pull up the voice dialer. But i can't even install it now. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
EDIT: Got it to install, but now it force closes when I try to use it, with or without a bluetooth headset.
awesome!!!!!
I'm running AHD 6.1 but it lacks the ability to let bluetooth headset to do voice command. but after i flashed this it worked out fine!!
and btw im using vlingo to do voice dialing, its an awesome app!!

Yeah, I wasn't clear. I figured it would work since it worked on the one before, but I wasn't sure if the previous post was confirming 6.1.0 or 6.1.1. So, I'm hoping for 6.1.1 support confirmation so I don't brick this puppy.

6.1.0 was the first version of his new base (2.3.5GB based on HTC 3.06.405.1)
6.1.1 is the same base with updates/enhancements from mike1986. I can't imagine this would bork you. If you're too worried, make a backup. This isn't going to brick your phone to a point where you can't get to recovery and flash your backup

Right. That was my assumption and my plan once I got home tonight to do that assuming no-one confirmed it for me. Will flash after while and edit post with results.
I flashed this to arhd 6.1.1. It don't work. App did not appear to be installed. I tried installing the apk and it would just say application not installed.
So it appears to be a no go.

I upgraded my xt720 to Dexter's Froyo 1.3 a few days ago and it is working well so far. The only issue I've found is that Fring, which worked marginally on the stock Android 2.1 system, now simply fails on every attempt to call, including the Fring test call. This is the case with my own wifi setup, which includes a firewall (yes, I opened the necessary ports to get Fring working with Android 2.1) and WPA, and on another completely open wifi setup with no firewall. No luck either way. Has anyone else seen this? Anyone have any bright ideas for a fix? This is far from a critical problem, but Fring is nice to have, when it works.
