[Q] Battery Replacement - General Questions and Answers

Is it possible to replace a battery of an imitation tablet like "Meiying m10" or "Technaxx Techtab"
because my battery is dead and not charging. I'm planning to replace the battery with the ones
which Samsung Galaxy Tab uses. There's is A shop here in my country that replaces battery only
for Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Question Is. Is it possible to use Samsung Galaxy Tab Battery for
Tablet with Rockchip 2918 board.
Here's my tablet in the Message Attachment [meiying.jpg]
After all the output charger is the same both charger are equivalent 5v and 2000mah
Thanks

Good Luck
Good luck with that. Most tables aren't made to be taken apart by the end user. If you can get it apart without breaking it, and can see the battery, try to get a part number off it. If you can find a part number you could do some internet searches to try to find it. If you can't find it, just look for one with the same dimensions and the same mAh rating, or better (bigger mAh number). But not too much bigger. You're unit was made to charge a battery of a particular rating. If you go too big, you might have problems charging it.
Say it's a 3200 mAh battery in your table. If you find a 3200, 3400 or 3600 mAh that will fit into your table, those should work great. You might have problems charging a 4200 mAh or bigger battery.

YouTube usually has tutorial videos for disassembling devices but if you're not experienced with doing this, you could have a COMPLETELY useless device at your hands. I had an old WM8650 tablet with the same issue but I did not dare to take it apart because I knew I would screw it up. YouTube had videos showing the complete process. If you do have experience, go for it. I ended up only being able to use the WM8650 while it was hooked up to the AC adapter.

Sorry It wasn't my intention. I just don't think I put the right Title.
Anyway. I just want to have a quicker and more opinion.

My tablet was open by a technician. So far it's not compatible for samsung galaxy tab battery. It's smaller compare to samsung's battery. It's 8.7khr and 3.7 volts. by converting it to mah. It's equivalent to 5000mah
thanks for the information

Thanks for the info the battery is 8.7kwr and 3.7v therefore it's equivalent to 5000mah.
It's hard to find that kind of battery so were trying to replace it. with the availability. It thinks smaller mAh is easier to find
Well thanks for your information
I appreciate your effort.

Thanks for all of your information
I'm glad I find an answer from different user for the specific question

It will probably fit, I don't doubt it but there seem to be a battery door as well and by the looks of it. Although it seems its for the fasinate only.
the fascinates battery fits but when ever I charge the phone, it says battery not detected, and the phone does not charge. more than likely you'd get the same error with the extended one.
all the galaxy s phones use the same 1500 mh battery i have the epic but i bought the battery sold for the vibrant and the have the same exact serial numbers on them.
says it needs a xl door

I just did a search for Samsung 2200mah and came up with a 3 page list of batteries and phones. I'd be completely fine with a thicker phone to get longer battery lfe.

has any1 tried these batteries?
I bet the batteries are fine, it's getting the door to fit back on being the next issue.
i ordered me one
now waiting for epic battery cover
Since the battery is thicker, you could halfass the cover by simply cutting an opening in it just enough that the battery could protrude from it and still allow the stock cover to snap on. Other than it being pretty, the battery hump would stick out less than the cover that is included on that eBay Fascinate link. Or maybe you could get really fancy by cutting off the bump from the Fascinate cover and epoxy it or something to your existing Epic cover.
As I'm sitting here writing this, I'm thinking about just doing it myself...dremel out the hump and epoxy it to the Epic cover, using enough epoxy to create a smooth transition lip instead of an actual bump, light sanding to clean up the epoxy work and then wrap it in some 3M Di-NOC carbon fiber graphics while I'm at it.
The ONLY problems I've ever heard with some of the aftermarket batteries (while I was on the Samsung Moment forums) was that occasionally people would get an incompatible battery warning on their phone, but could easily be resolved with a reset. Once you get yours, keep us posted how it works out. When I first got my phone, the battery was completely dead, but I was thankful. I read random stories (which are debatable) as to if battery conditioning is even necessary or if it even matters. Either way, I put my phone on the wall charger (faster than USB via a computer) and let it charge completely. I then ran about 4 streaming music apps at once to completely kill the battery, then did a nice slow charge on the PC. While I can't say if my battery life is good or bad compared to anyone else since everyones usage is different, at least I can say I tried to condition it. My point is that I've tested the life of batteries this way when swapping between older and newer batteries on my Treo as well. Charge them till their full, run a battery intensive app (streaming for example) and timed how long it took to die. I have Treo batteries that lasted as little as 1.75hrs and as much as 3.5hrs, so naturally I keep the 3.5 in there as much as possible. You could test your current battery vs the extended battery the same way. I chose streaming as my testing of choice since I stream music while working anyways, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary...I'd just let it go until the music stopped, noted the time and swapped to the next battery. Maybe you could do the same to confirm the difference in life between the 1500 and 2200 battery, otherwise we'll never know.
On a side note, I like this cover http://cgi.ebay.com/3000mAh-Extende...788955?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5adbfc1b1b since it thickens the whole phone vs just adding a hump. That hump would just be constanly snagging the edge of my pocket everytime, hence why I wanted to make it a smooth transitional edge like I mentioned above. Also, this battery is 3000mah, 2x the stock Epic battery. Is the i9000 the same height and width as our batteries? It'd be an even larger hump, but twice the battery...hmmmm.
One thing to keep in mind about battery ratings is that it is dependent on discharge rate. A battery discharged at 1 c will have a different and lower apparent capacity than the same battery discharged at 0.1 c. Thus a larger battery benefits in two ways. Physical size and lowering of the c rate based on the same amp draw. This is where less reputable battery makers cheat. They will put an incredibly small load on a battery to achieve a higher rating.

So, what's your point? How does one distinguish a good battery vs a bad battery then if we're going to try and test these?
I'm waiting for Seidio to release this battery. They have an extended battery for the Evo and it gets good reviews overall, as seen here. Super expensive and makes the phone super bulky though
Why wait for Seidio and their overpriced batteries? People have been buying the extended batteries for the Moment for years via eBay, so why would any of the Galaxy S line batteries be any different for the sub $20 range?

The point is that unless they are giving you a physically larger battery, not to put too much faith in the MaH ratings of batteries. Especially ones out of china with no brand to speak of. The difference between a 1500mah and a 1700mah is likely in how they discharged to to rate it.
If you can find it, the C rate on discharge is a good indicator of quality in lithium batteries. Higher C rate discharge have lower internal resistance and are made with better materials. I'm not sure how likely you are to find the full specs on a phone battery.
In a test environment its not too difficult to figure out which is which. Put a temperature probe on it, and then put a high load on it. The one with the lowest temp is probably your best battery. (same size anyways)
Assuming the 2200mAH batteries are genuine Samsung OEM, I'd love to see one get tested by the guy at batteryboss.org to see how they rate under the same test conditions as the other batteries he's tested. If they end up being real, honest-to-god 2200mAH @ 250mA discharge, that would put them right on par capacity-wise with the average, much thicker no-name nominally-3500mAH Evo/Desire/Hero batteries from eBay. 1500 definitely isn't big enough, but a real 2200mAH battery with back that's large enough to accommodate it (preferably with a sculpted, rounded profile instead of a boxy pregnant lump) might be a nice alternative to a full-blown ~2800mAH-nominally-3200/3500mAH extended battery from Seidio.
In any case, I think it's been well established by now that the "extended" batteries that are the same size, but ~100mAH larger than stock, are almost a complete waste of money. Even when they DO last 30-60 minutes longer, you seriously have to question the sanity of spending so much for so little.
That said, I suspect that most of the cheap 2200mAH batteries that will eventually end up on eBay will end up testing out at around 1500mAH.

I think I got what you mean. Either way, both the 2200mah and 3000mah battery are incrementally large than the next vs the stock 1500mah battery, so I would assume that each battery will in fact store more of a charge.
has anyone tested whether these batteries work and charge normally? If they do work, you can grab a cheap hard case on ebay for 3 dollars and cut a hole through it for the battery. It will be ugly though, unless you figure out how to make it look nice

battery upgrade question

I'm sorry if this has already been answered, i searched a couple times and didn't find anything relative....
I was wondering, are there any potential drawbacks besides battery shape and physical size when choosing to go from a 2100 mah battery to say a 2900 or 4500mah one of the same voltage?
I would really prefer my phone to not explode, but i would really like the extra juice if its a valid option. Part of me already thinks it may not be a great idea because I don't see too many threads about it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

so youre saying if i replace my battery i wont be able to use bluetooth and apps like "bump"?
will my phone work well otherwise with a battery that powerful? (providing its well manufactured of course )
Is there a link to the said batteries you were looking at?
NFC for the Samsung SIII is built into the supplied battery, the official batteries sold by Samsung for the SIII should have this built in, however aftermarket batteries might not. Always check the product description to be sure.
Also, while both forms of short-distance communication, Bluetooth is a separate component from Near Field Communication, and wouldn't be affected by your battery.

sorry i dont have permission to post links yet
I would have posted it earlier but I didn't want to post a for sale item without somebody asking.....not trying to sell items or be accused of such
He also has a 4500 mah somewhere in his store, but im having difficulty finding the link...I've also semi-ruled it out since it would need a larger back cover that wouldn't be compatible with my case.
I decided to pull the trigger, for only $11 i have a chance to upgrade my battery life and have a couple spares floating around. I've also seen these external "battery extenders" floating around.....its basically a portable cradle for your phone that charges it.....if these batteries don't work I'll look into those. As you can probably tell, i'm a bit paranoid about running out of battery life.

[Q] N9776 advice

Hi I have just puchased a N9776 - 6 inch MTK6577 Android 4.1.1 JELLY BEAN
I am please with the devise and have had no problems apart from a faulty sd card. I would like to do the following, so if anybody can advise I would be grateful.
1. Make this a rooted device.
2. Purchase a higher rated battery, this came with EB615268VU 3600mAh
3. A docking station that can sync and charge plus spare battery
Any help or advise is most welcome
for rooting your device, look into this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783
the battery most likely has something around >1500 mAh, they are labeled wrong. e.g., the battery of my device should be original "Samsung EB615268VU (hmn, this will say sumthing to you i think ) with 3200 mAh. i mesured the capacity with my x-charger, it will load not more than 1600 mAh ( it will cut off automatically at around 1430 mAh).
you can get other batterys for your device, maybe original ones will work. you`ll need to check the size of your battery first. i cannot imagine that these will be the same size than the samsung ones. you can try docking stations for galaxy note 2, it is working for my device (Star N9770) you`ll need to check the size here, too.
Thank you

Thank you very much for the advice, I will have a look at the rooting link for sure. I thought it would be a note 2 dock that would be the closest so I will get one that has open ends so the width does not matter.
I have two other questions for you or anybody else who is willing to help, do any other phones use the same battery and is there a preferred usb cable as the N9776 seems to require a slightly longer micro usb connector.
Info on battery:
Li-ion Battery 3.7V
Standard: GB/T18287-2000
EB615268VU 3600mAh
S/N: KPDBB17GS/6-B
I cannot send the link to the replacement battery as I have not made enough posts yet.
Many thanks
like i mentioned in my post, i got the same one. not same capacity (wich is faked so doesn`t matter) but i can imagine that they have different sizes. these are mine:
l/w/h ca. 80mm/61,5mm/4,5mm. someone needs to check if the original samsung ones woukld fit, never tried it though. you can remove the plastic from the USB cable to fit it in or you can order one from china for your device. they are 2 $ or so, takes a while to get here though. the lenovo ones should work, but to be save i would recommend to order one for your device.

CAUTION - 2600mAh battery AceSoft - DO NOT BUY !

THE RESULT
So, after warming it up for some days, I decided to make benchmarks, and did it with two different apps.
While the stock battery (1800mAh) drains 30% for the same test in the same time, the AceSoft battery drains 40% although it is allegedly 2600mAh (or 2830mAh).
Also, the AceSoft is the same as the sunsky 2500mAh noname replacement battery. Looking in it clearly they only changed the sticker and selling it this way. You can see the battery material is identical in design.
------
Thus, no need to buy that! I am tired and give up trying any other batteries.
cheers guys
I want to try the battery of the Galaxy Note, the dimensions of it are almost equal.
Has anyone tried it?
Hi folks!
So I received the battery from AceSoft today and the first thing that impressed me was that Im reading on it "2850mAh", so let's see.
To get confident that it is not just a sticker over another noname replacement battery I pulled down the red sticker a bit to check whats behind, and I see at least no other sticker behind, only the battery. But unfortunately the design of the battery looks like same the replacement battery from sunsky, both bit different to the stock one.
I put the battery into the phone and it got already about 50% juice. The only weird thing was that on my first use, the phone was working and reacting very slow. I put to charging and waited 10min, when it was still slow, then just rebooted and now it is fine. Is that normal with the first use? I hope it was only once.
Will see and report the results these days!
@Balthasar85 sorry, haven't tried it and don't know about it
when plugged in for charging, i found out that it stops charging as soon it reaches 4.3 V or reaches a temperature of 43 C to prevent any damage. it got (from 10%) to about 85% charge, i then need to wait about 20min till it cools down a little and comes lower state in voltage, in order to proceed fully charging.
maybe it needs some training in the first usage, in order to get used to charge completely. will see..
but for now i am fine with the battery
Looking forward to the results

Hello,
For now, as I guessed it is better when charging over USB from pc, because the temperature of the battery stays always cool below 40°C, not getting quickly warm as through the charger, neither does the voltage reach as quicker to 4.3 V. You can see in the pics attached.
Though I have to say that I am using a different charger and not the original charger (american) because I am in Europe, as the power supply socket is different here.
I previously read for extended batteries, they need a few charges to get out the full capacity. In the screenshot we can see that the charging jumped from 92% to 100%. I then waited a bit, and recharged smoothly again. I believe this is normal for the beginning and will be fixed after some uses/recharges.
the screenshots include the graphs while charging in % of the battery state, Temperature (it is more warm before the charging, because I was using the phone) and in Voltage, all of during the same time range. and the re-raising to 100% in the last pic.
will definitely let you all know the further results.
cheers for now

i don't want to sound like a douche but the outcome was to be expected. given a definite size for a battery, there's only so much power you can cram into it and it's already highly unlikely that a 3rd party cheap battery would match or slightly surpass the branded original one, that it's basically just screaming scam when dirt cheap, noname batteries claim insane power like 2600-2850 mah vs the stock 1900
There are ways to cram more power into the same space. Using higher quality cells or better manufacturing can lead to better batteries. I'm not vouching for any of these off brands, and in most cases you can consider them bad, but there are exceptions. But it seems finding a reputable brand or original S3 batteries would be your best bet for extended slim batteries

External Battery Charger (High Capacity) - Info Needed!

Hey one and all,
Now I know there are already a few threads with some external battery chargers but a few are quite outdated and it's quite a pain looking through them all so I've been a little lazy and started this new thread.
Basically im currently using the ZeroLemon 7500 extended battery, which with my heavy usage lasts 2 days which is fine by me. I am now starting to get bored with my mini brick and would like to downsize to a 3000mAh battery so as to be able to use stock sized cases, but invest in a high capacity external battery charger. Something in the range of 12000mAh or thereabouts.
Ive searched amazon and google and seen countless brands and sizes and some with extra functions like wifi file transfer / wifi hotspot / sdcard reader etc. My main interest is for the charging, optional extras are just a bonus. Ive had my fair share of fakes from china / hong kong which although super cheap do tend to lack staying power.
I want something that will keep its charge, that has a high capacity to enable me to charge a 3000mAh battery 3-4 or more times and that i can charge fully overnight between 12-16 hours.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated, I dont want speculation on products that are out there as i have searched loads and read reviews on what i can. I would just like to hear from people who have similar wants and needs to myself that have used certain products and can give any recommendations.
Muchos Gracias in advance :good:

There are no higher capacity stock sized batteries, its usually fake or over rated. If it exists, Samsung should have produced it already. Better get a power bank to extend your usage.

That's pretty good. Only need it to give a few charges anyway. Does it hold charge properly too? So say if you didn't use it for a week and then used it to charge your phone, does it still have the same charge left on it?

You mistitled the thread. It's external battery pack, power pack, etc. Not charger. Battery packs do charge the phone but "external battery charger" mostly refers to those wall-chargers on which you put the battery to charge directly out of the phone.

Again ... I appreciate your input and willingness to make a point however if you had read what the guy put, regardless of my thread title, he was talking about extended stock size batteries, whereas the title is still pretty accurate for what I want .... An "external" pack to "charge" the "battery". And secondly the title I feel is pretty relevant, but even if it wasn't all you need to do is read my post to understand exactly what i wanted.
Please don't feel the need to take time out of your day to say I did something wrong when in fact you have done exactly the same as the first guy and countless other people by just not reading.
Thank you.
P.s. external battery charger as a description does not restrict itself to just wall chargers at all. External could be referring to a battery charger that can be taken outside its usual confines of somewhere like a house or building and used externally / outside where there is no access to a socket.
Thanks again.

God loves a tryer.
Perhaps try reading dude it'll give you an advantage over ignorance.
Lol nuff said indeed.
Anyway back on topic (don't post in a thread unless you have something useful to say )... I've ordered one and it should be arriving on Monday so I will let you know how it goes
I have a 10000 mAh EasyAcc. Purchased from Amazon, 28 euros.
It is quite slim (similar size as S4, double the thickness) and not very heavy.
I have already used it a couple of times and I am very happy with it. I can charge 2 phones at once, and the charging seems similar like from a normal power cord (got from 10 to 50 in about 30mins).

To be honest, power bank is pretty handy at times but please note that it takes time to charge your phone thus you need to carry your phone with the powerbank on the move which will be even heavier than your zerolemon battery alone. :good:
I've been using the PowerGen 9000mAh since August last year. It is a good size to carry in your pocket.
It has dual USB outputs plus an attached Micro USB cable that shares the 2 amp output. I like the dual output because I can charge it fast with a 2 amp port that will charge my phone a good 60% in an hour or so, or leave it on the .6 amp port over night and only have the battery pack drop 25%, or charge 2 or even 3 devices at the same time. I really like that it has an attached cable.
I can get a good 3 full charges of my S4 from it.
I mainly use it when traveling. If I am not going to be using it for a while, I discharge it to about 50% and it will stay there for months at a time. This is good practice for any LiPo battery not being used. They basically last forever at that charge level.
I also carry a spare OEM battery with me all the time, which is why I don't carry the battery pack often.

Ah, sorry about that. I was thinking about the internal battery.
Anyways, I'm using a Yoobao 7800MAh Power Bank. Its quite well known in the Asia region (like in the PH), can charge my S4 2-3 times, and quite handy (not that heavy).
