My Galaxy Note 10.1 is stuck in recovery mode and I'm not sure what to do next. Here's what happened:
After connecting to wifi, a software update was downloaded and a message asked me to install it. I accepted, because otherwise it said it would remind me in 3 hours.
I left it plugged in and went out. When I came back, there was a screen warning me of the dangers of installing a "custom OS" (?) The options were to press the volume-up to install it, or volume-down to reboot. Neither option did anything. Hard rebooting went to the same screen.
Later, I tried to charge it, but got this repeating sequence: the symbol showing a charging (but empty batter) for a couple of seconds, then a picture of the android robot with blue polyhedron thing (like here), then blank screen. A few seconds later it repeats.
Finally I try rebooting into recovery mode:
Android system recovery (3e) ... reboot system now apply update from external storage wipe data/factory reset ... MANUAL MODE -- Appling Multi-CSC... (sic) Applied the CSC-code : INU Successfully applied the multi-CSC.
Now, I don't really care whether I get the update or not, or whether I lose some data - I just really want a working phone again. I'm travelling atm, so it's a bit inconvenient. But mostly I'm asking for help to avoid making the problem worse.
So: what should I do?
It's a (unlocked) Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with ICS.
Download the full firmware for your region. Then charge it fully
Install Kies so that you get the USB drivers.
Download Odin
Unzip the firmware that you downloaded
start Odin and select the PDA,browse to the firmware and select it.
Enter download mode on the note with Power & Vol up
Make sure kies is not running
Now connect it and check that Odin finds the Note.
Press start to flash the firmware.
Don't go out while it flashes!!

The unit has been used for about 2 months and remains quite new. It was quite stable before. Yesterday night, about half an hour after plugged in for charging and with WiFi Hotspot turned on for sharing 3G data to another netbook, the unit suddenly rebooted itself. It then stopped at the start-up screen and remained there for several minutes. I kept holding the power button for a few seconds to turn it off but it then automatically reboot itself afterwards, and stopped at the start-up screen again. It means that even complete turning off is not possible.
Trying to enter into recovery mode showed the following few lines:
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Updating application...
Copying Common Apks.
Click to collapse
and then it automatically rebooted again. It means that it can't enter into recovery mode normally.
It was possible to enter into download mode. And it was the first time this machine went into download mode. I run Odin Downloader and flashed the official stock ROM. After showing "Pass", the device rebooted itself. Unfortunately, it still stopped at the start-up screen, just showing "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus". It is really troubesome. I have experience playing several Android devices before and it is the first time I face such troublesome problem.
The device is an official product. The biggest problem is that the original purchase invoice was lost and most likely that I couldn't get official support, repair service or replacement.
May I ask if anyone would kindly provide me some help or advice. Thanks!
Instead of going into download mode go into recovery mode and see if there are any errors. Your scenario is sounding very similar to the one I had in the past.
I just ran into a nasty snag at boot logo as well. nandroid, stock kernel and factory reset were no help. Try Odin back to Stock, it still may not get past boot logo, hold vol up and power to get into recovery and factory reset. Hope it works for you.
Unfortunately I was unable to get into recovery mode even after odin flashing stock ROM.
It rebooted itself a few seconds after displaying some lines of text. I can't see the normal recovery menu.
Hi,
Not sure why this happened, but while charging my tablet (galaxy note 10.1 GT-N8013 2013 edition) the tablet flashed and rebooted itself without user interaction. Upon reboot it froze on the samsung splash screen, so i pressed and held in the power button until the device restarted. When it did restart it no longer showed the splash screen, just squiggly lines thru the screen and it sits there unresponsive. I can boot the device into download (odin) mode, it shows that there is no custom binary download, shows the current binary is samsung official, but it says system status is custom, which is odd because i have never attempted to flash a custom rom nor have i tried to root this device.
i proceeded to install odin on my laptop and downloaded the factory binary from sammobile. I loaded everything up (as per the directions) but it fails, says there is no PIT partition. Im not sure where to go from here, i contacted samsung, but they are useless, says they cant help because the device is out of warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated , thanx in advance.
TLDR;
Trying to install custom recovery with odin auto-reboot checked off so stock doesnt replace odin says PASS I disconnect the phone but in downloading mode the blue bar is full and the phone doesn't want to shut down. I remove the battery and try to boot into custom philz-recovery it gets stuck in samsung logo. But functions perfectly on normal boot. I reset the whole phone and try the cf-auto-root method and the phone gets stuck in samsung logo now not even booting up normally. So i reset the whole phone again with odin and firmware from sammobile now sitting with a stock android and knox warranty ticked without having a root.
(Sorry for the long post I've tried to provide as much info as I can) So I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 exact model number SM-G900H. And I'm trying to root it. I go into download mode than I launch Odin and check off Auto-Reboot so it won't boot up and the stock recovery replaces the custom I'm trying to install, I connect the phone it says its connected than I select AP and than choose philz-recovery (latest version) and start it. So the Odin finishes its work says "PASS" in green letters. I disconnect the phone but on S5 the blue bar is full and it does not want to shut down (if the auto-reboot is checked it just reboots and it doesn't even want to boot into stock recovery just stuck on samsung logo) I've waited a good hour and still nothing. So I pull out the battery for it to shut down and than I straight try to boot into recovery and it just gets stuck on samsung logo and the blue letters don't even show up. Before rooting the recovery worked and I factory resetted the device before so samsungs knox does't interrupt with its not-being-able-to-boot-into-recovery-if-you-dont-know-the-password-to-the-samsung-account. And I'm now sitting here now with knox warranty ticked and not even rooted BUT I CAN STILL USE THE PHONE PERFECTLY WITHOUT TRYING TO BOOT INTO RECOVERY JUST BOOTS UP NORMALLY. So what I do than is reset the phones firmware with Odin from sammobile. Ok stock android. Than I try the Cf-auto root method with Odin. No luck phone just doesn't even boot up. So I reset the phone again same method. Ok stock android again. Sitting here reading through google for 8 hours 5 of thise spent on xda. STILL NO LUCK. So I hope someone can resolve the issue. I can't provide any pictures as I just rage closed my computer and didn't take pics. And if I install cynogenmod with heimdall is it going to be rooted (i know you don't need a root to do that) and can someone provide a guide to that heimdall cynogenmod install method?
Device: unlocked international - Samsung s6 - > SM-G902I never rooted!
i didnt do much with my phone. left it on my table and came back to check. its gone black screen unable to switch on.
thinking the battery drained, i connected it to my charger and then the battery logo blinks on and off.
no percentage number seen. no signs of it charging. just pops on and off.
next day, i tried turning it back on again. this time is the "SAMSUNG S6" logo thats on and off (i guess on bootloop?)
and on the top left corner of the screen a tiny red text says "RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING"
Im so desperate to get all my data backed up! And the last choice would be to flash a new ROM and theres a high chance for data to be wiped out.
ive been trying ways to access my data before flashing a new ROM and i dont mind to pay for anyone who is expert at this and able to back up all my data!
This what i did:
- went to get it checked by technicians (they said motherboard is corrupted and no way of backing up the data - choice is to flash new ROM)
- Vol Up + Home + Power buttons (not working)
- Vol Down + Home + Power (works and it directs me to Download mode)
- i tried connecting it to PC via USB but PC will only detect it when its in Download mode. however not able to access any file from it.
- i tried installing DrFone data recovery and it doesnt work, my phone will start to go back to bootloop and my data recovery process gets interrupted.
- i tried using SmartSwitch but it says device not recognized/ although i have installed latest USB drivers for samsung s6
- i tried connecting it to ODIN and it is detected while on DOwnload mode. but im not gonna flash a new ROM just yet
now i have heard of this twrp or adb but im researching more on it.
please guide me on this!
if you have further suggesstions or advice id appreciate it.
i think the phone can be saved. but the data needs to be saved 1st! and no doubt, it aint easy!
Hi everyone
I have GT-N8000 2012 version. A week ago it suddenly went off and I am no longer able to turn it on, i.e. after showing the Samsung white logo, it is restarted. I have tried flashing different firmware versions but it doesn't help. Also the Power+VolumUp combination does not show any menu (I think it usually boots a menu for factory reset). What can I do? (I prefer being able to recover my data).
Thanks in advance
Same problem here, on same device type (N8000 2012, standard stock samsung firmware).
Mine doens't even reach the Samsung logo. It just gets to the 1st screen (Galaxy Note 10.1 white message) and reboots after a couple of seconds.
Also can get to any menu using Power & VolumeUp (doesn't seen to have any effect). Only Power &VolumDown gets to the Download menu.
Unless this is a Hardware problem I wanted to factory reset the device, hopping this would clean "everything" but put it running again.
Thanks
Suggest flash stock rom via Odin ,and download mode.
try this one

no worries. it happens. soft brick situation
you need a stock rom for your device or back up rom.
go back to PC and start ODIN, cable in, then boot your device under download mode not recovery.
once it is in download mode, flash your device using ODIN.
allow to reboot.
un-bricked device.:good:
stock ROMs are here in case you are looking
