I used to have Cyanogen 10 for my pico but now I changed it to Cyanogen 9 because I keep getting the "robotic voices" when I used Cm10.
Anyway, can anyone suggest me a good kernel for Cm9? (currently using the Cm9.1 Build#9 by liverpool-fan). I'm totally new at this so please bear with me as I learn the ropes.

I have been compiling the cm7 source and sharing. Gapps and rom boots and work. It is more basic gingerbread aosp then cm7. Cyanogen and teamdouche have been working to get this together and this is more kinda like a nightly

You will need to flash the new recovery.img to flash/get working gapps.
after flashing gapps, run fix permissions to get gapps to work.
This is cause of cm7 going to ext4 based system unlike older roms that are ext3
The new recovery does make it so you can not use older pre gingerbread roms so find a older recovery to fastboot back to anything like froyo or restore old backups

The gapps are posted on on that link also not built in, building in causes bootloops. Don't have any clue when it will be in rom manager, the one uploaded is the recovery.img built with the source

I don't know cali's version. I just posted it cause I built it for someone else and he confirmed working. It is repo synced from the cm7 gingerbread source at about 7pm.
I don't have a desire hd so I can not confirm what is or isn't working

Its slightly more advanced along in development than the other version. ADW is now the default launcher. Haven't noticed any difference apart from that.

Yeah everything should work fine. Give it a shot. Just make a nandroid in case you don't like it.
Yeah, do it. GPS has been the fastest with it for me. Battery life is the best as well. And camera is better than stock 2.3.

just flashed it seems awesome...one more question what is the best kernal to flash battery life and speed.
I use MIUI daily.
It works best with Faux's 4.3 SV DS Rom (increases battery life).
My only issue is WiFi calling doesn't work.

Dude just go over to dev section look for faux cm7 kernel, go to op and look for 4.3, dload and flash. Or i could flash it for you just send me your phone.
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't find a similar thread on search.
I'm using franco's ICS kernel and the USB debugging in ON.
ADB recognize my device and I can 'Run As Android Application' but I get no Logcat at the DDMS tab.
All it shows is:
Code:
?:??: W/?(?): Unable to open log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory
Kernel developer approved that logcat is disabled on his kernel and currently has no plans of changing this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20005555&postcount=455
Also, enabling in insmod shows only partial logcat
http://forum.xda-developers.com/report.php?p=20037182
Anyone has a solution?
Thanks!
Updated OP with new info.
Just a question... This is hybrid ICS / GB kernel that no one will care about any day now when the OTA drops and there is a proper ICS kernel. Why is a logcat so important for this kernel? Just wondering?

Can't see how the fact that this is a hybrid kernel has anything to do with my question.
Logcat isn't important for this kernel, it's important to me because i use my phone to develop apps.
I want to use an ICS ROM but most of them use franco's kernel, which has logcat disabled by default, hence this thread.

Why would you develop apps based on an ICS ROM that has at most a 2-3 week shelf life and is flawed at best. If you just must why not use another kernel?
I am just asking because as soon as the OTA drops all of these ROMs and kernels will be obsolete
Where is my G Nexus?
Edit: Nevermind, please delete this post

I'm adding support for HC/ICS so i have to use an ICS ROM.
Regardless, using an ICS for development doesn't mean i develop only for ICS.
I couldn't find any other kernel for ICS, if you know of one, that would be excellent, no special love for franco's one (even though it's a great one).
Thanks

He does, on GB I always used this kernels but unfortunately, on ICS, version 11.5 breaks WiFi. so no kernel for me
Okay so I am new to the Nexus S 4g (crespo 4g) and i'm just wondering what some good ROM/kernel combos are, I'm currently running paranoidandroid and it's not bad but i want more speed, also the RAM on this phone isn't that great so are there any ram scripts available? and since there's no ext sd is there anyway to partition so i can move apps/data/cache to sd? I work so much I don't have time to thoroughly search for this info like I used to be able to... Thanks in advance
As far as the kernel goes, i have always stuck with matr1x. there are quite a few rom options out there but my top pics are AOKP and Euroskank kangs. Also Rascream is definitely worth checking out. I would recommend running the phone without scripts at first so you have a baseline then if you add scripts later, youll know if they are working or not later on. Not sure about moving apps/data/cache. good luck

Help!
I have been experimenting with a lot of ROMS on my Rooted Nexus S (I9023) and so far haven't been able to find a single stable ICS ROM!
Frustrated with my experience, I went back to stock GB ROM which has now got automatically upgraded to ICS (4.0.4).
However, since the time the ICS upgrade has been done, I am unable to flash clockwokmod recovery on my phone! Even superuser permissions don't seem to work!
Can someone please help me with this problem & also suggest a stable ICS ROM with everything working?
Thanks!

hi mate, I've been running Codename 2.0 for past 3 months ( prior JB), never had a single issue, no reboots and other crap, only issue is that ur start up tweaks don't stay after reboot.
Btw rom has been left without support.
So after installing this amazing rom and loving it for a week or two; I see a kernel update and install it. Everything went smooth but I lost my wifi after the fact. I was hoping someone could help me keep the kernel and get the wifi going. nothing about wifi problems were stated and it work fine previously. I wiped everything and even tried the wifi fix manager thingy i got with the ics rom i was running previously to see if that would do it but to no avail. I wanted to ask the developer but need some 10 post so help a bro out!
p.s....gotta give props to the man who had me running jb before anyone of my friends with newer phones!!! RANDOMBLAME!!!!

ditto, this happend with my Paranoidandroid install as well. kernel allowed me to stay running without crash, but wifi is a pretty big letdown...
unfortunatly, without the kernel itself being fixed, or the wifi module fixed, we are stuck looking for another alternate kernel... oh yeah, we are pretty limited.
thanks
appreciate the quick reply man. And I'll be keeping my eye out then

So I'm only using it with jelly time or jb. I'm flashing the os then the kernel cuz the os installs its own. This is an updated kernel for the os.I'm thinking i should maybe wipe the cache partition after the the os then do the kernel but at the same time I would think that other problems would be happening if that was the issue. What do you think?

does the system function without the kernel update?
if it does, you might want to hold off on updating til the ROM updates for it.
