Hello everyone its your friendly neighborhood hero..... Nah jk.
Anyways to the point, I would like to unlock and root my phone through my own computer an ASUS G75VW-BBK5 upgraded to Windows8 :highfive: So I installed Hasoon's All-in-One toolkit for the AT&T HTC One X, also got my HTC Drivers installed on my moms Windows7 and brought them over to my Windows8, installed successfully, I think. I have the Android development kit and all those proper files installed. I do the easy way of going into bootloader by using Hasoon's toolkit. I click volume down once on the fastboot and then it says fastboot usb. So then I try to get my bootloader unlock code and everything... But it says it failed on Hasoon's and waiting for device just by using the command prompt. So then I go back to my moms computer and copy my previous version of the Unlock_code.bin then bring it to my computer. It didn't work. I think I heard also that it doesn't work with USB 3.0's. Well in that case I'm doomed because my computer has four of them.
Problem relating to CM10 installation. I have had TWRP and my bootloader unlocked and relocked before. I had Viper XL on it before for one day until I decided I wanted to go to CM10 Nightlies. That's when all this happened. When I did try to flash CM10 downloaded on my unlocked booloader with SU it kept getting stuck in the endless spiral of CM10 doom. Which in my opinion <----- I blame on AT&T. Can someone please help me get my device be able to properly fastboot usb to my Windows8 with usb 3.0's and help me get CM10. Sorry for all this but once I do it once I should be able to do it again.:highfive:
Tommorow I well come back and check on the post with my phone ATM relocked and RUU'd. Also please wish me luck on the drivers test for the official licence. :good:

I have a sony Xperia S and i have rooted the phone. I've been trying to install some custom roms but i am unable to put the phone into fastboot because i haven't unlocked the bootloader. I'm assuming people have installed roms without the flashboot otherwise there isn't much point to rooting the phone without unlocking the bootloader.
I had a search around and found nothing. Any thoughts on installing roms with a locked bootloader?

Actually, a lot of people around here should be able to help because a lot of them had a droid x, which had a locked bootloader. Of course, that device had a boot strap to over come the lock bootloader. Since you're rooted, have you installed a custom recovery yet? If you get the recovery on it, you may be able to flash a ROM of there is one available for you device...

There is a problem with custom recovery and the xperia s, it doesn't support my phone apparently. My only other option is fastboot but i'm having serious driver issues with windows 8. I've followed a guide but it won't let me post this link up here yet.
my phone connects into fastboot for about 5 seconds and it just reboots. Apparently it's a common problem but i've tried everything and nothing is working haha! That guide was the closest i've got, i got the drivers to install and now my phone is coming up as "Andriod Bootloader interface"
I suppose that's some progress.
Have you had any experience with this issue?

The fast boot issue on win8, yes. I don't even see toolkits working entirely like they should because of that fastboot issue. Fortunately, i have a Mac, so just use that for fastbooting usually (or minimal adb use). You could just obtain the adb, fastboot, etc. files from galaxynexusroot.com (or other places) and work around that fastboot problem with the command prompt, but the fact that you're recovery isn't supported is a problem. If there isn't a custom recovery for your device model, i don't see how you're going to be able to flash a rom. If you google "xperia s recovery" there are articles that go into detail about it (DooMRecovery looks like one that might work), but i have limited experience with that particular device. Wish i could be of more help. Maybe someone more familiar with your model will chime in...

Hi there
I just got a new laptop running Window 8.1
I want to flash the latest TWRP to able to flash android 4.4 kitkat. But after i install "htc sync manager" and "htc sync", still dont have usb-driver on fastboot mode. So i cant flash the TWRP recovery.
Can any1 help me step by step how to get the fastboot-usb to install the TWRP on Window8?
My phone got everything already, just need the usb-driver, so in the fastboot can recognize the usb, so that i can flash latest TWRP.
(My phone running TWRP 2.3.3.0 already)
(My new laptop had Android-sdk already)
Thank for helping me guys :good:

Anyway, thanks alot for your help man, very appreciate but the problem still here
PS: another thing is my laptop using AMD cpu, and all of solution is just for intel-usb @[email protected] i cant follow someway, such as this:

Unfortunately I don't run Windows 8 so I don't have any personal experience with getting it to work. The best solution I've seen people talk about is to use a different version of Windows.

Run a Linux live cd and use fastboot that way.

There is no signed Windows 8.1 Android driver.
To make it work there is several hoops to jump through. Really its easier to just boot into Linux or use another computer.
Eg my Desktop runs Windows 8.1 but my laptop has Windows 7, so I use the laptop for fastboot.

windows 8.1 wont recognize my htc one x with ICS rom. however when i updated to jellybean 4.1.1 and connected to the windows 8.1, it installed all the required drivers itself and now I am able to connect the phone/fastboot etc. I tried installing HTC Sync previously but that doesnt help cuz while the installation process the Htc Driver Installer fails to install.
To try cut a very long short I have a Nexus5 that I am now unable to boot. I had used the Skipsoft unified Android toolkit a few months ago to both unlock the bootloader and root the device. I backed up my original OS to my PC. Now last few days I have been unable to access the play store UNLESS on wifi so after trying a new sim card with no success I thought I would use the toolkit to lock the bootloader and unroot the device so I could install the latest 4.4.3 system update(which had already downloaded to the phone), at this point the toolkit chucked up a few errors (DOH..did not write them down, what a thick head). OK so update had downloaded and phone restarts but goes straight into TWRP which now asks for a password WTF ? so then I turn off the phone and back on and all I now have is the google logo spinning and nothing else. It even seems adb does not work is there ANYONE WHO CAN ASSIST ME PLEASE... FEEL LIKE CRYING RIGHT NOW..
Don't use a tool kit. Use this. If you still have problems post what errors you're getting here.

Edit, Google 15 second adb drivers xda. That'll setup fastboot/adb which you'll need. Just follow method one in the link I posted. Backup what you can before preceding off your device as it will
be wiped

OK... So managed to format the system then gain access to the new ADB sideload feature to allow me to sideload a new ROM. Thank you to all who read A hope this helps someone..
Relocking the bootloader for an OTA is unnecessary just FYI.
That's probably the reason why Twrp asked for a pass. It's generally good (required) to let the system full boot without any mods when factory restoring.

I am a complete novice at playing with android phones but thought i`d have a play. I bought a htc one m7 that was not working and sent it to htc to repair which they did but ,apparently the phone had been bootloaded and they put this back on the repaired phone. Hence when i got it back , it all worked but i could not make calls. Sooo after reading some forums i tried to put a new rom on it, Android Hd one 84.0. Now the phone is stuck in a boot/recovery loop and is not recognised on my computer!! i`ve tried to adb sideload but this doesnt seem to load. Unfortunatley i didnt back up the the data before i done all this. Please help as im using an iphone and its killing me!!!!

Maybe it's just a bootloop and not a brick.
(Bootloop = neverending booting process, brick = either the download or the recovery mode doesn't work any more)

Good luck !
Thanks. Have tried all of your suggestions but no joy. Having read the suggestions I noticed it said about re locking the boot loader before installing a rom? If i say exactly what I done maybe I somebody may be able to tell me my errors?
Unlocked using htcdev and rooted. Tried to get s-off using rum runner but it failed with a message"unfortunatley this isn't going to work out with your configure, you have 2 options
1) flash an unsecure kernel that's compatible with your rom
2)flash a different rom.
Have tried to reinstall Android hd one 84.0 from recovery mode, Get a message on installation page at the end saying set_metadata_recursive:some changes failed.
On reboot it goes straight to recovery page and if I go into fast boot the phone shows in the device manager but not as a drive???

Ok, best to post in your device's help/Q&A forum ... with as many details as possible to get proper help.
Good luck !
Thread closed and thank you.
First of all I did check other forums, etc. before coming here. I also spent countless hours researching the rooting process. Here is my problem:
I'm attempting to root an HTC One x+ (AT&T) that I purchased on amazon. I'm using a Windows 8.1 system, and The latest Windroid tool (v2.3). With the tool I was able to unlock bootloader. The next step (flash a recovery) is where I believe I made my mistake. For my phone there was 2 choices (global and AT&T). I hence learned that my phone is evitare-ul, so I should have used the AT&T version, but I flashed it with the Global TWRP. I also made some errors in that I somehow wiped out the stock ROM (still don't know how that happened). I posted a question in the HTC One x+ forum, and was answered by LLoir (Thank you). The response was:
"You need TWRP for the EVITAREUL and then use the sideload function to put a rom on, also you need to manually flash the boot.img in fastboot. There's no MTP for TWRP Evitareul hence the reason for sideload."
Being new to "rooting" I wasn't sure what Llior was saying, ergo all the research. OK, so I found the TWRP-evitare-ul, but it WON'T FLASH! (Via Windroid). Windroid says it worked, but there is no recovery installed. I am however able to flash and remove the "global TWRP". Lloir answer also referenced 'NO MTP for TWRP evitareul", so I assume it is indeed the global TRWP I had flashed (it does has MTP wish I can enable or disable). When "enabled" my windows computer sees my phone, when "disabled" it doesn't see anything connected. I Need Help in Finding a way to Flash the "TWRP - evitareul" onto my phone.
A related issue is that after each Flash attempt when I attempt to reboot The screen on my phone changes from the "bootloader" screen to the "htc" screen And nothing more. Windroid is waiting and waiting and waiting. I end up pressing the power and volume down button combo to get back to bootloader. With the "global TWRP" I can boot to recovery, but I am in limbo when I try to flash with the "TWRP evitareul". It never installs! I'm guessing I have a booting issue.
Based on various forum articles I believe I'm to get the "Boot.img" to flash when I exe the rom file? I really rather just have the "zip" version I can use with Windroid. I'll need guidance and help there.
As it stands right now I have unlocked bootloader and apparently have the wrong TWRP installed. I have issues with my phone being recognized by my computer, and at various times my computer states there is a problem with windroid (when phone connected via usb). Is using a windows 8.1 system an issue. I can go to my old XP
In summary I need:
1) Find a way to flash the correct TWRP into my HTC One x+
2)be able to flash a ROM (MagioRom).
3)Flash the boot/img.
Guidance and help is appreciated. At least point me in the right direction. This is why I posted here. Please excuse my ignorance. Thanks
