SGSIII or the RAZR HD?

I currently have the galaxy s3 and I'm looking to see which is better, I'd like to see some opinions before I choose! :good:
I can't see a reason to leave the SGSIII for any phone right now... except maybe the next nexus but who knows that's a different story.

i agree.....the only real difference between the s3 and maxx hd will be slightly longer battery life and a 1080p screen when we only have 720p....and they're supposed to get an upgrade to jelly bean first as opposed to whenever the hell we're getting it lol
I'd take our unlockable bootloader any day though

true, i forgot they don't have an exploit like we do to blow the bootloader open, but they do have the motofail exploit to root, so they're halfway there lmao.....at least you can immediately debloat it if you decide to get the maxx hd
I wouldnt take a moto device if it was a gift. Even when a carrier (vzw)demands a locked bootloader, sammy leaves exploits for devs to do thier thing.
gs3 has 2gb of ram also. i thought the razr hd was 720p?
Just checked specs and RAZR HD is 720p like are phone so it has less ram but larger battery.

No phone in the US has 1080p screen yet, HTC announced the first device to have 1080p resolution display this week, the HTC J Butterfly. Available initially in Japan, should be the HTC 5" coming to VZW sometime in the near future.
Back to the question, The Droid RAZR and GS3 are very, very similar.
If you want a phone with more options out of the box, better looking and design... well, you should go with the GS3. The RAZR will most likely receive updated faster than Samsung. There's isn't much of a skin on the new Moto's phones so if you want an almost true Android experience, updates sooner... in this case the RAZR is your option.
I personally don't think updates should the reason to purchase a phone, with the dev communities we have now a days, I'm sure there will always be good qualities ROMs out there.

[Q] Many doubts

Hello!
I Hhave been thinking about this phone but I have many doubts with the different versions (Razr, Razr Maxx, Razr i Razr HD)
Of these, which ones has been officially updated to JB? Which one is waterproof? Have caps as the Defy or carry a nanocoating? Of the rugged ones, which is the best for performance, gaming etc?
I want to replace my Defy and I doubt between the Xperia V or Razr. Which is better?
Thanks in advance.
Razr HD is on JB officially. It also just got its bootloader unlocked so now it has a lot more dev support. It's very durable, I know because I'm using it right now. It's also smooth and has a long battery. Get the Razr. You won't regret it. Or just get the galaxy s4. Haha.

Thank you!I am very worried about the water resistant feature, what´s your experience with water in razr HD?
I don´t like samsung definotely, my other option is Xperia V with IP57 certified....
Keep in touch.
It's more splash resistant than water resistant. However, people have dropped their phones in toilets and pools and the phone has carried on as normal. I wouldn't buy the phone expecting to take it swimming.
Depending on the gaming you do, and the importance of that versus build quality, battery or other features then you may want to look for a phone with more RAM and a quad core processor. There are the two being released soon GS4 and HTC 1) that would probably be better gaming phones. Its all a matter of personal choice. I prefer a phone that is built great and has an amazing battery so this is the right phone for me.
Good luck...

Well I certainly wouldn't recommend showering with it but...I bike commute and have my Razr Maxx HD mounted on my handlebars. I sometimes run into you rain, usually not more than a mild sprinkle. But I have had no problems thus far with the phone getting wet. I do however keep headphones plugged in, thus closing the headphone jack.
I have also dropped my phone on a number of surfaces including concrete, and have experienced next to no visible damage. That being said, I have heard reports to the contrary. All in all, I am extremely pleased with my Maxx HD. Especially now with development picking up, I could not be more happy.

+1 to all the above and I don't know what you are expecting as a gaming device but every game i have played has never lagged on this device... And match it with a solid case such as otterbox defender and it's a very tough phone with excellent service.

Every game seems to lag at some point on this phone. I believe it is the IO issue that the TF300 had before the fix was introduced by the community, as I'm guessing the massive lag occurs during updates to data.
Really throws you for a spin when you're playing Subway Surfers and it jerks so bad you can't even jump. This particular game shows this problem the most, but maybe that's because that's the one I play the most?
Seems to me that it was less pronounced in some of the more hardcore games.

Every game I've played on here lags occasionally. Even contre jour lags at certain spots. Everything lags at some point. I would stay away from this phone, I regret it. Wonderful hardware horrible software.
Windows phone was much smoother as is my iPad. I guess if you are coming from android you might be more used to or tolerant of any lag or hiccups. And jb made it worse not better

Hi! I know for sure that Razr HD is water resistant! I splashed it heavily few times and everything works fine!
I don't think its water proof though.. Don't try to submerge it ..
Don't buy the HD, my inner LCD cracked and it wasn't covered under the manufactures warranty. Compete bs!

The Razr HD is great, but you might want to wait a few months.
HTC Once coming to Verizon and probably some stuff. If you have to buy get the HD. If you can wait, do that.

HTC ONE S vs RAZR HD

I'm on the lookout for a new phone, and just wondering which of these two to get.
One s pros: build quality, size, development?
RAZR HD: battery life, micro sd
Thanks

Can't say much about the HTC other than I hate Sense. Motos Blur is as close to pure AOSP as you are going to get on a non nexus phone. I can say that my RAZR MAXX HD is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. The battery life alone accounts for most of my pleasure as well as the build quality. The combination of kevlar , metal and gorilla glass make it a no need for a case phone. Development is finally heating up so fully functional AOSP is just around the corner.

That's me. The last HTC phone that I owned was the OG Evo4g. Sense was so overly bloated that the phone could barely operate for 4 hours with it. I did not use close to a quarter of the crap that it had preloaded. I would hope that they have worked on trimming that beast down over the years.

Well I guess bloatware is one of the reasons we root in the first place. My friends have both the RAZR HD and the one s, and there is no difference on speed as far I can tell. Sense has come a long way. The RAZR got jellybean a few months ago right?

Check this out http://versusio.com/en/htc-one-s-vs-motorola-droid-razr-maxx-hd
Looks like the One S has a better camera and speakers. The RAZR MAXX HD has a bigger and better screen with higher resolution. The battery is double the size of One S. Internal memory and SD support are also a plus for the RAZR MAXX HD.
Guess it all comes down to what you want your phone to do.

I guess so. I have Ord, Rom updating disorder, so development is pretty important. Of course, the sd card helps a lot. How is development so far, stable cm?
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
It's come a long way. Some amazing devs have just recently unlocked the bootloader without the support of Motorola. Now Hash and Byte are working on a custom kernel for AOSP. It appears that the kernel is nearly complete. There are some 4.2 ROMs floating around but they are suffering from lacking a completed kernel. Once that kernel drops, I'd imagine the devs will have us on official support from the likes of Cm, AOKP and etc...
...
I've had a One S and now the Razr HD. The HD all the way I'd say. No sd slot is a deal breaker and only 16gigs of storage. Depends where you live but the HD has far better signal reception. The reason why I got rid of the one S. Other than that most of of what has already been said applies.
HD!
go for the razr hd, you wont regret.
almost stock interface, great battery. period.

Well, the 2x RAM helps. You lose the on screen keys . Then active notifications and touch free control are pretty nice.

I left the s4 and couldn't be happier. This phone will probably not get the recognition that it deserves because of the X but it should be considered the best at the moment. I don't believe anyone will be able to top this because they are all fighting over who has the biggest cpu and not who can actually match the iPhone. This phone does match it. You have to own it to know what I mean.

Aye, active notifications + touchless controls and performance make this phone a star.
Well worth the upgrade. I jumped from my Rezound to the Mini and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. My battery life is insane (spent a whole day Trying to kill it and only managed to drop it to 43%), super quick, good feel, and clean interface. I pretty much love this phone. Since the Mini is essentially the same thing as the Maxx and Ultra I'd say all three likely rock.

[Q] upgrade from droid 2?

I like my droid 2 a lot.
Do they even make new phones with real keyboards?
if so, are any significantly better than droid 2?
I have a Droid 4 and it's really nice (especially with CyanogenMod 11 )
I too have the droid 4 with cm11, and works well.
Been rumors of a droid 5, for a while now.
