[Q] Can I record videos directly to my hard drive using USB otg? - General Questions and Answers

Hello. I have a question.
I want to buy and USB Otg cable (ET-R205UBEGSTD) for my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but I can't find one important (to me) information. if I will connect hard drive (sata3, but inserted into Case with USB out), and connect it via USB Otg I will be able to see all my data from hard drive. That's easy. But... Will I be able to save photos and videos taken and recorder from Samsung Camera App directly to hard drive? I am asking because I want to record long videos in Full HD and I know that they will not fit on internal memory I could buy a memory card, but I want to see all my options.
Can anybody who have that kind of cable check this for me? I would be great full
Thanks in advance.

[REQ] TV-Out to TV-In

I like TP function that they could connect to monitor out for presentation, etc..
But would it be better if TP could use TV-Out cable as a TV-In and record some TV programs, and convert into FLV or MPG formats ?
Anyone could develop this idea?
Thanks.
I don't think it has the hosrpower to do that.... Outputting is one thing but receiving a signal and encoding on the fly... Naaaah not gonna happen...
However a small device that plugged into the USB, and essentially streamed video direct to the built ijn memory card would be possible, but somebody would have to create it !
I don't think it can be done, for the same reason you can't just "convert" a TV-out on a PC video card to TV-in. It requires different hardware, which isn't there. That's why you need to buy a video capture card.
Well, you could just point your camera at a TV showing the video source...

You mis-understand, the device I have in mind IS a video capture card, with USB host facillities, allowing it to use the phone as a USB hard drive to store it's video on, this video could then be played back on the phone !

Yes, I think that's a valid idea, I was actually replying to asiandelight's post, because he mentions the TV-out cable.

Nexus Media Importer app (review)

Have any of you guys checked this application out?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5ob21leXNvZnQubmV4dXN1c2IuaW1wb3J0ZXIiXQ..
It does not require root and you can import off a SD card, flash drive, and external hard drive. It's a really smooth interface. I'm not the developer or anything but I made a video review of the application.
Thanks,

Nexus Media Importer works on HTC One X+...
Hi everyone,
I just tried Nexus Media Viewer (the free version of Nexus Media Importer) on a new (locked / non-rooted) HTC One X+ from AT&T. Simply amazing!!! I connected 2 completely different MicroSD cards, 8Gb and 16Gb and they worked. I was able to see their contents on my HOX+. I also tried an IBM wired USB mouse and a Logitech M705 wireless mouse (using a USB dongle); they worked flawlessly and I was able to see a cursor, scroll through screens and select using the mice! Awesome work.

[Q] How to record from pc without capture card?

Hi I have a Asus tf300t tablet and I want to record and make videos of games with good quality and no lag. I don't want to use screencast or android screen recorders because they will probably lag. I read about using HDMI to get the best quality but is there a way to do it without a pc capture card? I don't want to install new hardware into my computer. I tried finding usb options and stuff but can't find any information.
Does anyone know the best way I can record high quality from my android device without a pc capture card? Like some kind of hdmi usb thing? Thanks.

Try this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iwobanas.screenrecorder.free&hl=nl
It records your android screen in High Quality (The users of the app says so) and store them up in your SD card, after that you could just Connect your Device to your PC and place them on your PC. (For this app your android device needs to be rooted)

[Q] USB OTG direct video saving

I'm having a similar problem to one I noticed in a different post, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987102 . I need to save HD video to an external storage device directly, as this guy wanted to do. However, every camera app I've tried, and ursafe media director doesn't recognize my usb otg hard drive as a location. the only way I can browse it is through file manager. Any suggestions? I have a Lenovo S-3000, takes 1080p video, and I want to be able to record directly to a thumb drive with it. Thanks in advance!
