Last night I flashed the official release and did not lose root. Today there's an updated ROM that is deodexed. Would it be beneficial to flash that as I'm assuming the official release is not deodexed?
Thank you for your time
No all deodexed does is allow easier theme building .

Can we expect a pure stock rom with a working camera?
Useleless Questions.. like everytime a new Android version comes .. yes there will be an fully working AOSP rom!! It just need time!
There has already been work ongoing for CM9 i.e., ICS CyanogenMod for some time. Nothing released yet though.

OTA update: only if you are on a stock release. The OTA update file only includes changes from the previous release and (in the case of JB) won't probably apply to anything other than the stock ICS rom.
EOS: only time will tell, but there is a decent chance of them getting some improvements out of what Motorola releases.
There should be a flashable zip after a while. Motorola always releases recovery images for the Xoom, don't they?

Yes, but like I said, the image will only work if you are on the correct ota release to begin with (it's not a full image like the custom roms you would install)

The ICS leak #2 is the same as the SOAK ICS, which to my understanding is also the same as the official ICS OTA. And yes, you can run SCv7 and other ROMs that were made from the ICSL2 build on the ICS OTA...

Thank u, ill keep the leak then, there is no point getting the ota, since is the same, i will waste my time only :good:
I just received a refurb I535 from ebay.
Thought it would come with 4.3, so I was planning to use saferoot..
Lo and behold it came with 4.1.2 build MB1.
Now I'm faced with more choices.
Here's the thing.
It's going to be flashed to Page Plus Cellular, so no rom changes or updates ever again (without a $45 reflash I'm told)..
So.......update to 4.1 MF1 and call it a day or go up to 4.3 and live with a locked bootloader and saferoot?
Just want the best / stable factory rom that I can safely root, then disable OTA, & kill bloatware.
*EDIT* what about modem / reception tradeoffs?
What would you do?
OK so considering you want a fully stable ROM with 0 bugs and you don't mind touchwizz then look no further then CleanROM. The most stable TW ROM ever made IMO.
If you want to go AOSP but still want to be as stable as possible. Go with LiquidSmooth. But go with the more stable Jelly Bean builds. I don't think the KITKAT build are 100% bug free yet.
Do NOT go with Cyanogenmod. I do not care what the fanboys say. That ROM is always having issues. For me anyway. If you must have CM then go with Milestone release as those are more stable. But generally for you I would say stay away from CM
You can flash the ML1 modem (4.3). But flash the modem only. NOT the firmware. I'll try to find a working link. I may host it myself. Edit: I went ahead and uploaded it myself
CleanROM: http://goo.gl/pC0Yw
LiquidSmooth 4.3: http://goo.gl/cZobd

I just got off the phone with the guy who is going to flash my phone.
He said to do some research and find a way to do exactly what you suggested.
Your links just saved me hours.
Thank you so much!

So recently my phone, Galaxy Victory L300, has received an update, MG5 to ND4. I made a ROM based off MG5. Is there a way to make my ROM based off of ND4 but flash onto MG5 phones without harm? The update changes kernel source, adds some apps, and changes the baseband and a few other things. The only way to do the update is to be on the stock ROM and do it, then flash a ND4 ROM onto it. Thx ?
