[Q] Update for locked devices - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

Hey,
I got the 8X from Bell in Canada (same as AT&T in the US). Anyone knows when the update's going to be released?
Also, would unlocking my phone with an online service make my phone an international unlocked phone? Or would it still be a Bell phone but unlocked?

You should be more specific. Which update? What version do you have at the moment?
AFAIK the latest version currently is 8.0.10211.204.

It should make it an international unlocked phone. But note this is only a simlock, other lock types like interop-, root-, full-unlock are not yet made (if even possible) for windows phone 8. Only developer unlock is currently possible.
Also, be sure to be careful which site you use, others in the forum experienced difficulties: thread 2101075

Sorry about that, by update I did mean Portico, I'm still running 8.0.9903.10.
So by unlocking my phone, would it allow me to perform an OTA update?

Got my AT&T update today. So I would think that yours is coming soon. As far as unlocking your phone, I don't think that will make any difference as far as the update is concerned. The update will still come from Bell.

Yea, it doesnt matter whether its unlocked or not. The update still comes the same way

OTA updates

Hey all,
I just got my HTC dream, unlocked, running on the AT&T network. My question is this: If I stick with the official RC30 rom will I still get OTA updates when T-mo releases them?

HA HA WHERES MY CUPCAKE!!
Now, to be serious, if you stick with the original RC30, you will recieve the official OTA updates no matter what network you are on.
You will need a data connection, either wifi or having a data plan on AT&T.

As long as you have a stock build (not a rooted version), you will get the update, regardless of carrier.

debranding tesco, is it worth it?

I read it's pretty easy to go from tesco to UK retail 4.3 my question is..... is it worth bothering and will I still get the OTA KitKat or have to put it on manually?
I see some say it will upgraded OTA but are they really guessing? because don't want to unlock the bootloader yet.

if your going to flash the retail 4.3 uk image you might as well just flash the US GSM kitkat image like many from the uk have
including my self as its the same process and all works as it should, or wait a week for official update

[Q] At&t Phone abroad

Hi, I have a serious question. I recently bought my LG G3 D850 AT&T version and I'm loving it. I rooted it and removed AT&T bloatware. I was wondering will I still get OTA update of lollipop? One more thing I don't live in the States, would I get the OTA through Google or AT&T or do I have to manually install it ? . Thanks

Yes you will still get lollipop, if you use ota you will lose root and the bloat will come back, also the ota will come through att on your phone, if you want lollipop now i recommend installing CM12, i did and i love it

Check it out. You can stop ota.

Thanks so it really doesn't matter if I live in states or in Asia ? Still will get the OTA update through AT&T? I dont have AT&T contract I think this phone was unlocked when I bought it. CM 12 is stable ? can you pls give me the direct link for it ? Or should I wait for the OTA from AT&T (which is still hard to believe that will get the update from them since I live in Asia not the USA). Thanks

Its got some bugs, id wait until theyre sorted out, and since you live in Asia id recommend flashing Cloudy G3 as its based off the international rom, and soon he should update it to lollipop, also i wouldnt flash the ota from ATT as you could lose root and most important Bump,

At&t variant unlock bl

Can this one be unlocked bootloader? And the steps rooted and ROM? Anyone know what quarter we see Nougat?

On At&t variant you can unlock bootloader, steps to root is similar to every other phone, flash twrp and then superSU. You cannot install a custom ROM on the at&t variant unless you convert to another model. I wouldn't ever expect nougat to come to the at&t variant, once again, convert and flash nougat ruu for the us unlocked variant
But there is a slim chance for Nougat?

I wouldn't even give it a slim chance, the AT&T variant is still on 6.0, they released just one update and that was it...

wow! i wish i knew this before i bought my AT&T-branded A9.

Changing software?

Hey
I am considering purchasing a Pixel, but this may be directly from my network (EE UK). They are often months behind Google's releases.
If i was to purchase one from them, is it easy/safe to install Google's own software over the top?
Cheers
EE UK use the stock android, so we get the updates as soon as they are released, i'm with EE UK. There is no bloatware or anything on these devices, they are the same as if you bought them direct from Google.

And you purchased direct from EE? Or via a 3rd Party?
Directly through EE as an upgrade.

I just did the same. Leaving Huawei, had a P9. Fantastic phone, i just miss the Google experience
It is a good phone, best Android device i've had, I came from a HTC M9.
All Pixels are getting updates right away. Verizon is the only carrier that has control over Pixel updates but they have also released same time as Google.

Someone correct me if i am wrong bjt you cant flash the EE phones. They are bootloader locked.
You can ADB sideload the updates right from Google's download page though.

I just download the new OTA from googles site for my Verizon Pixel and side load that. Never had a "Verizon" version on the phone.
Currently using 7.1.2 N2GA7E
Stock no root.
