Thoughts on choice of phone - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So I have the s3 and I love it. I also have the opportunity to get the note 2 for $100 but would have to give up my s3 for it. I'm thinking of getting the note 2 until the s4 comes out, then selling the note 2 and buying the s4. Any thoughts from the great xda family?

If you're fine with the giant screen, go for it. The Note 2 is better in every other way. Also, it will have the higher value when selling it. Even though I love my S3 and couldn't deal with that giant screen, I say do it.

Do the swap then sell the note 2, buy the LG Nexus 4

If the note 2 works fine, I would trade for it, give it a try, and see if I like it. If you don't like it, you can definitely sell it for way more than your s3 and make a profit, then get another s3. Or just keep it til the s4 comes out, either way you'll get more money than your s3 for sure.

I'm not crazy about the note 2 just because its so big, but I like the idea of making some money on it and getting the s4 when its out.
What's particularly special about the nexus 4 and would it be better then the s4?

Galaxy S 3 for Note 2

I switched to Verizon from T-Mobile because of signal and i had an at&t note working on T-Mobile. I loved the phone, it was purely perfect. But when i switched i had to choose a different phone,i do like the s3 but i loved the screen size. I was thinking of trading someone that gets the note 2 and doesn't like the size for my mint condition s3. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The note 2 probably won't be out for another couple months. Its pretty much guaranteed to have a locked bootloader (which may or may not get unlocked) i'd personally keep the S3
The Galaxy Note II should be released sometime in November. I myself will be making the switch. And I personally think you'll have great luck making this trade. Some people don't like gigantic phones and would much rather have an S3. I suggest trying Craigslist once the Note II gets released.

Swap or not

In a meeting today and was using my note 2 to make notes. Another guy shows lots of interest and after the meeting he asks me if I wanted to swap my note 2 for his iphone 5... said I'd think about it. .. should I think about it.

Definitely do it, then sell the iPhone and get another Note + some profit

No need to think about it. Serious downgrade and not really making a profit unless you're extremely patient and lucky
Just compare prices and do a decision.
do it. if you dont do it, your stupid
Compare prices and see if you can make profit! Galaxy note II is much better than Iphone 5 but the prices are different.

[Q] What is your next phone?

Well I, like many of you, have had my phone now for just over a year and I think its about time to look for something new. Restarts are becoming increasingly frequent and my SIM tray has become exposed to the harsh world that is a pocket as my back has snapped in two. After hundreds of reflashes and ROM installs, the phone is finally starting to give in. Anyone else experiencing similar circumstances? With the last sliver of plastic barely covering my battery, I've been looking for a worthy replacement of the BEST phone I've owned to date.
So, that being said...
What phone are you guys itching to get your hands on?
For me, I obviously see the S4 as the strongest phone, spec wise, to be coming out this year but with a release date said to be sometime after May, I may need something earlier.
HTC M7- meeeeeehh. I'd get it if it was the only 1080p phone AT&T will bring in.
Any LG Phone- nope.
Xperia Z- I reaaaally like how this phone looks and with all its specs, its tops on my list. Who knows though, by the time it comes to the states, octacores will be standard and it'll sell like the x10.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4
Tablet:Nexus 7 cuz of price and space
I'm weird. I won't know until this one dies

Both of my choices are the same as the ops, but we'll see how long my rocket can hold out for
Something in early 2014. I do like Samsung but we'll see who comes out with the 2.5ghz octi-core, 20 megapixel camera, self-charging from body heat phone/tab/wallet first. lol
S4 or Nexus if it carries LTE

Galaxy S4 for me too. Hope it doesn't take too long to get to us.

I've been [email protected] the Optimus G. Like the specs. Upgrade coming in May. I'll try and hold off until then. But S4 probably

Probably the S4. Maybe hold out for the Motorola X phone if it's going to have Key Lime Pie and a Maxx battery. Not in a big hurry. Loving my SR with EMBRYO-6.1

S4. Heard it's a March 22 release. 8 cores. It's gota fly.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I still think those rumors of an 8 core are false, that chip set design is VERY new. And at the earliest itll drop in may, we may see reviews and sneak peaks in March however
Maybe the next Nexus, if they're able to keep the price down again and meet demand.... or if a smaller G-Note ever comes out.
I'm in no hurry though. SlimBean has been rock solid for me. I'm also getting great speeds on T-Mo (even faster d-load speeds than my friend's G-Nex) in the Bay Area.. and I have the option to go back to ATT's LTE if I ever wanted to.
My backup phone: Samsung Rugby Smart.
Gotta be the Galaxy s4 or the next Nexus that has LTE
I think I'm holding out for the Samsung Galaxy s 4

Off contract international s3 or s4

Either the note 2 or the next iteration in the note series. I'll never buy a nexus phone, and the note screen size is too good to pass on.
with the contracts the way they are in canada, i'll be ready for the s8

very true, but I only had to get a two year "data only" plan, and I STILL had to pay $200 for the rocket. I may just buy my next phone full price off contract

should I change my s3 for a Nexus 4?

If I don't mind having LTE or not and a non-removable battery. Should I sell my S3 and buy a Nexus 4? My only concern is Speed and can't take pictures at night .

i think u should try Nexus 4,
its better than S3, check the gsmarena.com maybe u will consider it.

Of course u can!!! N4 > S3.
But, I reccomend u to save money to buy S4!!!

S3 to nexus 4? I think it's better to get the s4. I use nexus 4 though and I'm so happy with the performance of this device. Awesome design too unlike s3 or s4.

r u kidding off course go for nexus4
are you guys sure that N4 is faster ?
Just get a dslr because s3 to nexus 4 is just aint worth it
The upgrade isn't worth it the s3 has great devoloment and its a great device
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
It is more of a price diffrence. When you buy a Nexus 4 (unlocked I might add) you are getting more for less.
I think both phones are awesome.
What I dont like about the S3:
AEOLED is too young. It burns out, and the pixels actually die out (happened to my S2).
Too expensive.
Way too big.
What I dont like about the Nexus 4:
No SD expansion (but everything is becoming cloud based anyways, which means CW Recovery must be a pain).
Poly-whatever battery (can't remember the name). Just like AEOLED, the technology is still young. The battery is dangerous, and also loses charge capacity rather quickly.
I prefer the N4 over the S3. With a little salt as well.
These are my observations. Please click thanks if you found this useful at all.
I switched from a s3 to a nexus 4 and i love it!. I will probably only buy nexus devices from now on! I love the clean look of having no physical/capacitive buttons on the front! :victory:

Hah from now on pretty much any phone I own will end up on PA. Anyway, to bring the thread back on topic I don't think it's worth it if you have to pay anything, but if it's free then I personally would do it.
Save your money for the S4. That is my plan, though i have been stuck on a Bionic for almost 2 years...
save our money for S4
Nexus 4 is a good choice
If you aren't losing money, then the Nexus 4 would be a good alternative. I, personally, would rather have a Nexus 4, but Verizon botched having the Galaxy Nexus, so that won't be happening.

I dont know how about your country, but in Ukraine it's very expencive, so better save your money if S3 suits you

I sold my Note 3 to pay for the M8, yes. Had the Note 2 before that, too.
I left it for the M8. No regrets, the note was just too big.

Sold mine on Swappa. Got less than what I wanted, but it's all good. I definitely got my money's worth out of my Note 3. There just wasn't anything too remarkably different from the Note 2 and Note 3. I like trying different phones. I swap between this and my Moto X. I should be good now until I get the new X coming out later in the year, now. I am taking a break from Samsung products
Man I would love to get rid of my note 3 for the m8... just can't afford it.

I got the M8 off contract for $600 and sold my Note 3 for about $150 less than that. So for the 6 months I used the Note 3, i definitely got my money's worth (I bought the Note 3 on contract pricing).
Same here, I went gs3 to note 2 to sg4 to note 3 now to m8...couldn't be happier. I wanted to use the s pen more, just didn't find it was all that functional. Really love the idea of it, but I rarely took notes with it and other than that, really just kept it in the phone.
I'm thinking of making a mass thread called "what phone did you come from and how does it compare?". I just love conversations like this on xda XD
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
Yeah I came from the note 3 and I still have it until I decide which I like better. Part of me misses the size as it's hard to get used to smaller size. I'm having issues typing but I'm sure that will get easier. I will say this phone feels so much nicer in the hand. Anybody tried that light bright case yet?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
I have the "light brite" case. It's actually really nice.I'm used to using the sview case but I like this case much better just for the different look it has. The flap is a little annoying but I figure it will get worn in and be a little better awhile
