Probably a known issue - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

On all of the jellybean ROMs I've tried the music app seems to lag at times when my screen is off. Not sure why it happens just wondering if their is a fix. Also its seems that in order to play music I have to quit out of the music app and restart it for it to play, and that's not with the stock music player app that's for all of them on the play store such as pro amp, player pro and a few others.
Thanks guys.

I'm running AOKP JB and have none of those. And I listen to a lot of music. Try clearing your .DB files and see if that helps

Tried didnt work, havent tried aokp jb yet. Might try it. Right now im running vincoms slim samsung leak rom works fairly well just wish the music didnt lag.

Yeah man that sucks. Try jet audio basic. Go into settings and pick gapless playback for everything. If that doesn't work I'd have to say its an I/O issue.

Never had this issue

no issues here, where is the music located, ext or int sdcard, if ext maybe an issue with the card, either way maybe time to format either or both sdcards, back them up first

You could be right I have all my music stored on external, im going to try installing music app to sd card and maybe it wont be laggy, if not that then ill try putting music on internal, then ill try formatting just want to make sure I do everything first before formatting. Thanks ill get back to you guys when im done.

He was asking where the music itself was located, not the music app. Try placing the music itself on your internal storage

I think you have a really low class speed external SD, maybe class 2-3, that's why its laggy. I have a class four though and have never had a problem

Yes and I answered :\ I said it was located on ext and I said I would move app to sd card and if that didnt work then I would move app and music to internal.....make sense , I probably wasnt clear enough.

Good point I have class 2 16gb, but its odd because it only lags on jb roms, ics and gingerbread never had this issue.

hmm that's rather strange then. maybe jellybean is just optimized for higher read/write speeds?
class 4 and higher 16gb are cheap, I've seen them for 5-10 US, or u could just go the route u already know of, internal

I tried it for today but it still lags , it has to be my SD card I'll probably end up getting a higher class SD card
EDIT: Since more memory doesn't hurt anyone how does this SD card look, any opinions?

new mem wont hurt but that maybe not the problem
first try "stock" music player and save the music files to your internal sdcard, if it lags then ext sdcard not the prob, further troubleshooting required, btw dont have cable plugged in as it might be the media scanner running in the background which might effect performance, it seems as if something might be running to get the lag u r getting

Are you using any roms? What about saving to a SD card? If so, what speed class is your SD card? Sometimes even stupid small things can cause headaches.

By any chance, do you have very little space on the storage that the video is being saved to?
No roms and its stock I have it going to my external SD card 16 gig class 2. The card is empty have nothing on it

Maybe it has something to do with the speed of your sd card (class 2). If you can replace that card with a class 6 or 10 and see if the problem clears.

Google play music on beans build 8 rom

I am having issues with play music not showing my music from my sd card. I had similiar issue on clean rom and had to clear data on the app and then google play music would find the music on the ext.sd card. I installed beans rom and had the same issue. So figured I would need to do the same. So tried clearing the data on the app but no luck. Reinstalled the rom wipe everything still no luck. It's driving me crazy cuz I loved the rom but nandroided back to clean rom cause need the music app working I can browse with the file explorer and google play plays the music just didn't show any music in its library. I even tried installing the cm music app and both and same thing. Please any ideas I tried everything

No i dont see that. Why should I? Its the weirdest thing cuz on clean rom and beans rom i use google play on both and it seems to work fine on the clean rom. I dont get it
Try an app called SDrescan.
This would happen on my dinc, that app would find the files.

sdrescan didnt help. I dont know what goin on. Format sd card? Obviously after i backup everything
I think I figured out the issue and the sdcard was getting flakey. Woke up this morning went to work my battery was 100%. I leave the house at 730am. By 1030am I was at 45%. Was like wtf cuz I go all day usually on the same charge so I go into battery stats and see media taking 70% of my battery and the phone was running hot as heck. Took my sd card out and noticed temp was back to normal and the battery drain went away. Thru in a new 32gb sd and since no issues. I am gonna try beans rom again and see if google play can find my music more I am pretty sure it will cuz I started to notice issues accessing the old sd card all of a sudden also before I removed it

After replacing my sd card beans build 8 rom work flawlessly. Music was found right away and it got rid of my battery drain

[Q] unable to remount SD card?

Hey, recently I have been using my player pro apk and I will be listening to music and my audio will cut out, I will look at my notification bar and it shows that my dock is still conneccted yet my 32Gb sd card is no mounted, the only way I have found to get the tablet to recognize that it is mounted and be able to listen to music from both my MicrSD and my SD is to do a reboot, not sure why this is but help would be appreciated as this is starting to p**s me off
EDIT: I think it is kernel problems, I have switched kernels quite a bit in the lastt few days and that SEEM to have fixed it though.\

Don't take any chances and get it warranty replaced ASAP. Even if it starts working again it might give you trouble down the line. The bottom line is that it shouldn't be doing what you say it is doing at all. This shows the importance of the warranty because stuff like this will happen no matter which phone you have, especially with early releases.
^+1. You've paid for an expensive phone, that's not acceptable, regardless. Just get it replaced anyways. Unless it's a standard issue everyone's experiencing, which I doubt.
Take a photo screen shot next time it happens as proof. You should be able to walk into ATT and get it replaced.

through the pc and through settings on the phone.
iv googled this alot and found no way to fix this. there must be a way.
Seems simple to troubleshoot here. Simply plug device into computer, copy a handful of songs or ones you know that have issues to the phone's hard drive, unplug device from computer, take sd card out of device, now try playing the songs off the device's hard drive. If they play just fine, well then obviously the sd card is the issue. This is the first step i would take at least to figure this out.
Also try using the internal storage and see if they will play from there.
