Quick question:
I've been having wifi issues which I've searched for the solution, but haven't found it. I don't want to downgrade hboot because I see my limitations laying in there somewhere and don't want to mess everything up. Wifi is the the only issue I'm having.
I flashed the Fusion Ultimate v.4 kernel hoping it would help, but it hasn't, although my phone seems to run faster and smoother.
So I'm wondering... will a kernel even really help a wifi issue and, if so, is there one better suited than the Fusion Ultimate?
My phone:
HTC One S (S4) S-On
hboot: 1.14
kernel flashed via Flash Image GIU
It seems many have wifi issues with custom roms and hboot 1.14. Kernels doesnt help.
The only solution Ive seen around the forum is, downgrading the hboot.
In terms of kernel, you are one of the lucky ones who managed to get v4 to boot, welcome to the club Theres a giant bug somewhere in it which causes it to not boot for the majority of the users.
You could try Fusion v3.1 instead - but I doubt that will help your issue.
Surprisingly, it seems to have worked. At least, I assume it did since I made no other changes tonight and Wi-Fi is working. Even when I leave the house, it connects when I get back. Whatever happened, I hope it keeps up.
Thanks for the reply.

I still have wifi issues. I unlocked my phone using revolutionary and I have hboot 1.27.1100 I have tried flashing boot img through fastboot. Ran faux, sebastian, and stock kernel but no good. Even tried deleting the WPA supplicant file. My wifi is still stuck on "Turning wifi on". I've also tried the Wifix app and it does nothing.
I am currently running Ordroid 7.1.2, but I have been on ARHD and have had the same problem. I also tried the Wifix apk and it did nothing.
Please tell me how you fixed your wifi.
I'm just learning about things too but I know my WiFi worked on Victorious inquisition, and my WiFi is working on my new Rom beats by Grogg , maybe its within the Rom your using. Like I said, I'm just learning so perhaps someone more knowledgeable has a fix, in the meantime I know for sure WiFi works perfectly with above roms. Perhaps you might try a new Rom. If it does not work with those roms its another issue altogether. As I said perhaps someone else has a better fix. Hope this helps some. Wish I could be of more help. But I've been lucky as its always been working in the roms I've tried. But I know it can be an issue. I wish you the best!

Yeah, I tried inquisition a while back and it didn't help. Thanks for replying though!
Your welcome, it must be a different issue all together then! I'll search and see if I can find you a helpful link. Wish I could be of more help.

During searching I came across this. You might want to read it over and see if it even relates to your issue. Hopefully it will help or can lead you in the right direction
As I said I don't know much about this issue but it won't hurt to look over this link. Seems they were having the same problem. If It's its not what you need just disregard. Hope it helps its a WiFi fix for ics kernel.

I had this problem before, but on a non-sense rom.
All I did was reflash it and made sure not to tamper with ANYTHING.
No tweaks or anything. Just reflash, wait a little bit, reboot, and see if it works again.
Hi all!
After ditching my Desire HD, I bought myself a HTC One S for its faster soc and better screen.
As I was used to having everything working on my former phone I'd expect this for the One S as well..
So far I've reached Unlocked bootloader, SuperCID and S-Off. Still on HBoot 2.15 though.
On PAC-man Rom at the moment and experience some Wifi problems as its not connecting to all wifi networks, yet some of m work.
Tried all sorts of radios from the Development forum, Sense version, Temporally version and CM version. None seem to take effect.
Tried some different Kernels as well, same outcome..
Tried ViperRom (with and without update) this morning and Wifi isnt able to switch on, even after different kernel and radios..
In short... is there a way to get all types of Wifi working on AOSP or Sense rom?
Is it neccessary to downgrade HBoot (as there is bricks reported)?
I'm on 2.15. S-off. Super cid. But I never had wifi problems. Have you tried the wi-fi fix on the radio thread?

I have not found a seperate file tot flash or push for wifi fix, so i presume it is incorporated in the aroma installable radios.
Wat ROM are you on?
OK. Here's what I've found out..
Since I'm really anonoyed by my phone not connecting to all types of Wifi I flashed an RUU.
I did this during SuperCID and S-OFF and just ran a .exe RUU.
First one I tried: RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.09.401.1_R_Radio_0.14.3059.14_2_release_243825_signed.exe
It had no effect, booted up, yet Wifi was not fixed.
Next one I tried: RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.53.401.2_Radio_0.15.31501S.19_10.12.31501S.06L_release_251412_signed.exe
And voila my Wifi worked.
On Hboot 1.06 now, flashed recovery and next PAC-Man ROM v20.0.0.
Now my Wifi again is selective like it was before.
I hope someone has an idea where to look as I simply don't understand what the problem is..
Tried the Temporary Radio V2 as well, no effect.
Anyone?
In the developer forum there is a radio thread with the WiFi fix.

Yes, as mentioned, I have tried the wifi fix, doesnt make a difference :s
Have you tried switching your hboot around?

Thanks for the hint.
However something I found out was that the new version of VenomROM V2.1 does give me full Wifi.
Unfortunately I don't realy like Sense Roms and rather have a different one.
I redownloaded PACman v20.0 and have tried all Hboot versions, none seem to make an improvement on Wifi capability.
Some work, some won't..
Going to try one or two Hboots with different Radio's from Temp Radio installer V2.
Anyone got an idea? Or perhaps a nice Hint again
OK, so last weekend I managed to get my HTC One X (Evita) rooted, but not S-OFF. I made it once successfully through the entire Facepalm process, but the phone remained S-ON for some unknown reason. It was said to me that I may try to flash a custom ROM and then try again, so I flashed to the most recent CleanROM. Since that time, I've had great problems getting my cell service to stay active, and all further attempts to use the Facepalm/S-OFF method have proven useless because I simply can not ever under any circumstance get past the dreaded "device not found" from the command prompt. I should further note that I read about a LOT of people needing to add a few layers of tape to their SIM in order for their service to stay on with this particular phone...so I've already successfully done this and it did not resolve my dropped service issue.
At this point, I don't know which direction to go. Could the ROM be why my service is dropping? I've not done any sort of "radio" update on this phone yet...can that be an issue? I see RUU's listed on the index thread...would flashing to one of those help? If so, is the procedure same as flashing a custom ROM? And how in the world can I get passed the "device not found" error so that maybe, someday, possibly, I can have my S-OFF?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
OK, so I've done a couple MORE hours of reading, and I've learned this:
1. The signal drops (as well as the occasional reboots which I didn't mention earlier) are consistent with people whose kernel or radio need to be updated to something that appropriately matches the ROM they're running.
2. I'm not imagining things...rooting/updating THIS particular HTC phone is indeed trickier than the other 3 I've rooted in the past...in the sense that following the directions won't always yield you the same results as the next guy. I'm seeing this sentiment in forum posts (even from ROM developers/etc.) quite a bit today, so, if nothing else, I know I haven't lost my mind lol.
So anyways, it seems as though I need to figure out which "kernel" to flash. I've not flashed ANY kernels on this phone so far, and it came stock running Android 4.0. I ultimately want to be running the latest stable version of Android with Sense on this phone. It appeared the answer for me would be the latest CleanROM, which is 4.2.2. and Sense 5. It's been running on my phone for almost a week now and I like it, except for the signal dropping/rebooting.
I don't know if I've added ANY info that will help someone give me good advice, but....anyone?
...and even MORE reading led me to the xda thread for the latest CleanROM, which is littered with folks having the exact same problem as me.
So yeah, I was here thinking all these problems were brought on by me just not "getting it"...but it just so happens that the first ROM I flashed had these issues for folks with not-so-current radios.
I've got several threads pulled up now that will supposedly get me fixed up, but I can't flash a kernel without S-OFF, so I'm back trying to figure out how to get past this stupid "device not found" issue.
Flash a different ROM to get s-off, Android 4.0 or 4.1 will be best. Once you have s-off you can either upgrade to the 2.15 firmware or flash the Beastmode kernel, either of these methods will stop the signal loss issues you've experienced on Cleanrom. Also, please search before posting, the signal loss issue is plastered all over the Cleanrom thread, you can't read more than two or three pages without seeing it mentioned along with the fix.

Hi, I was previously running Android 4.1.1 Venom XL ROM. I saw 4.2.2 Venom XL and decided to upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly, but I have two problems
GPS:
As soon as I reboot the phone everything works. After a few hours, suddenly the GPS will not work anymore. When you bring up programs that require GPS like Maps/Waze, it will not even look for satellites (no GPS icon shown). Once I reboot, things will be ok for a little while. I tried installing the GPS Status & Toolbox App and even when I open that App, it is the same behavior. It works after a reboot, but the GPS lookup does not happen after a few hours. It is big problem for me since I moved to a new state only 4 weeks back and have been highly dependent on the GPS to take me around. Anyone face this problem and have any suggestions? I tried the different options the GPS Status & Toolbox offered but none of them helped. Thanks for your help. Never had any issues with 4.1.1.
Weak signal:
I have seen suggestions of installing BeastMode Kernel or update the firmware to fix this problem and am yet to try this. Do I need to be S-OFF to install the kernel?
My HTC One X is rooted and I have supercid, but it is S-ON.
Thanks for any help in this regard.

No, you do not. The kernel solution is a good option, if you do not have S-off.
Although you should consider s-off, as its easy to do (especially if you already have adb set to go) and gives you more options for recovering (if you are SuperCID and S-on, a Jellybean RUU will brick you). As long as your understand that s-off means all security checks are off (and you therefore need to be careful of what you flash) s-off can be a very good thing to have.
Also, your GPS issue may be related to the signal issue, so kernel or 2.15 firmware fix might solve this as well as your weak signal issue.
Thanks. I did S-OFF, installed the new firmware, reflashed viper xl 4.2.2 rom and I am back in. So far so good. I hope GPS works ok. I was trying to download the latest 4.2.2 beastmode kernel form the following link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/m53u563v2ql3818/beastmode_tester2.zip
posted on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45089267
Is this the official BeastMode kernel for 4.2.2? It says tester and that is why I ask. Also, I see no specific instructions of how to flash it. Is it just as easy as copy to sdcard and use recovery to flash? Can anyone please confirm?
EDIT: Found the updated link http://nosroms.com/?developer=Evita. But, if someone could still confirm the way to flash the kernel, that would be great.
Wipe cache/dalvik and flash kernel via recovery.

Thanks. All set now. Looks like my GPS is working great :victory:
I hope that my the kernel does its thing and no signal drops.
Thanks for the help.
crazy touchscreen problem
After flashing a ROM my touchscreen x axis seems to have inverted itself, so right is left on the screen.
This problem happens during the recovery screen also
I have tried changing recovery's,Kernals, flashed ROM's that I know work
I have even returned the phone back to stock nothing fixed it.
I have even went as far as removing the motherboard and installing one out of a working phone and guess what it does the same thing.
So i ask all you knowledgeable people WTF wold cause this and how can I fix it ?
these are the last two ROM's I was trying out when all this happened
they both ran without a problem I just didn't like them
MokeeOS 44.2 24/12/2013 [UNOFFICIAL],
UNOFFICIAL AOKP][4.4.2] [S4] [12/26/13]
I'm in no way blaming the ROM developers for this issue I just need a little help
Strange problem. I think you should flash firmware, it is worth to try i guess

mines actually doing the same, and from what i've been reading, i believe it has to do with your hboot version and ics not being compatible with it. try flashing your original ruu if you can. that's what i'm trying to do as we speak. if i ever get my problem figured out, i'll let you know if it works.

This was my test phone I had flashed just about everything you can think of before I would install it on the phone I use every day
I guess my luck ran out
I ended up flashing the phone back to the original firmware and OS version using the factory RUU without a problem
If I try to install anything over 4.04 it goes right back to the same crap
I tried different firmware, kernels, roms with sense/ no sense doesn't matter.
the phone is being sold as I type this and I'm leaving my other two One S phones alone for now on
Nobody should have to go through this much bull for newer OS version so I'm saving for a Nexus 5
Thank you for the suggestion
