I've got the galaxy s3, and an old thunderbolt, I'm due to upgrade the thunderbolt soon and I was wondering what phones may be coming in the next couple of months. I also have a Nexus 7 and love it, if a new Nexus phone had Lte and an sd slot, it would be a no brainer for me but I don't know if I'll get that lucky. My gs3 is the one I carry, and the best phone I've ever owned, but I may put it on my other line if the right replacement came along. What are you guys looking forward to?

If your going for right now you have two options the droid DNA or note 2. I would personally go for a note 2.. But if you wanna wait a couple more months you have the galaxy s4 coming out soon

I've been thinking about waiting for the s4 but the note 2 looks pretty sweet as well. I know the DNA is supposed to be great, but I'm leary of htc because my thunderbolt has been pretty lousy, particularly when it comes to battery life.

Yeah I know what you mean with the whole HTC thing lol, so now it looks like its down to 2 devices the note 2 or s4.. If your like most ppl and always want the latest and greatest then I think you should wait for the s4 but if you want something right now then go for the note 2
Wait until summer or fall.
S4 in Summer, Note 3 in fall or winter.
Probably an S4, IF Samsung keeps the phone dimension the same, or smaller.
Ideally, a top spec phone in the size of Motorola Razr M is perfect for me. I wish phone makers would stop trying to out-size each other.

I'm also holding off on the note 2 because I'm not interested in rooting the phone, and Verizon has significantly limited the amount of apps that work with multi view. My understanding is that you can't use YouTube, twitter, etc etc. Why would they lock that down? Or am I wrong?

I'm not due until October of this year, so plenty of time for the S IV to be released and the dust to settle. I'd prefer a Motorola, though. I just like the feel of them and prefer Blur over TouchWhiz.

Oh my bad you want me to speculate what phone I am going to get based on rumors. I don't know when the next galaxy note or galaxy S is going be out until Samsung actually announces the phones and whatever other phone for that matter. I can't really say I am looking forward to anything that has yet to come to fruition so I can't get all gadget nerd about it. There is also a lot of under the radar development going on so I have until 6/12/14 to figure out what my next phone will be. The only sure thing is that Canonical hopes to have Ubuntu smartphones by 2014.

It's a reference to the pot calling the kettle black. I stand by my point that I was simply asking if anyone knew of any devices that maybe I hadn't considered. You literally chimed in for the sole purpose of pointing out that you had no interest in the conversation. That didn't make any sense to me, sorry if my original comment offended.

I know what you meant about "the pot called the kettle black" I just responded in accordance to the comment. What I meant in my original post was my next upgrade isn't due until 6/12/14 so I am not thinking about my next phone. The last time I checked literally means that I am not thinking about my next phone. There is no hidden meaning in regards to my interest in your post and my humblest apologies if you thought so. You have an upgrade soon you can go with the current selection of phones or you can do what I did and went month by month until the phone you want is available. You can always Google CES 2013 as they are unveiled some smartphones not mentioned before. What am looking forward to is 2014 when I have a better assessment on what smart phones are out in my upgrade year. Also I am bed ridden from surgery there is but so much I can do for the next 3 weeks.

Minor bleed but still there, and still a lil screen separation, but to be fair the sensation had a tiny separation also..... Weird thing though is box is dated may 16th. So gingerbread wasn't out when this was made and its not a refurb, so how the hell did gingerbread get on there? Did they open boxes and flash the older phones? Weird.. My box was cut open too with the sim in there (new line)...

Why don't you sell your next one that Tmo gives you and buy mine which has never rebooted, has very minimal bleed and doesn't have a single bug I notice. I agree. The damn thing sucked at locking anything. Although the rest of the phone was pretty awesome minus the super Amoled. Yes its colorful but once you have a g2x, the colors are close and the clarity and crispness of the letters are night and day vs the two.
Also I just love the for factor of the g2x. I still think 4.0 is the perfect size. I love the curved edges and the way the Hdmi port looks with its cool lil cover. I love how the grills are at the bottom. The phone just looks like a mean machine. Hell I actually like that extra space at the bottom so many people frown on. I love this damn phone. I just was saying that Its true, there are defective ones that have screen of death.
And I say again, just exchange it till you get one that works. I know ive had a few none issue ones with rebooting or freezing while charging.

jrwingate6, been blathering this same post much more than 3 times. He goes on and on how his phone works wonderfully. He got the phone for free, is now saying he uses the Senstation, and claims he can not even sell the device. A used G2x goes for between 250-375 on eBay all day long. Still this guy whines on thread after thread that he can not liquidate his phone.
If he wanted it sold it would be sold, period.

That is not screen bleed, its IPS glow....its just part of the trade-offs of the technology. AMOLED super tight text reading suffers, but the AMOLED display is superfast and has perfect blacks.

what are you running? It certainly could be exactly what your are running. I also just posted a thread on how to set up a new G2x, would be interesting if you would trying that and see if it helps. What is it you have loaded? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198094
I just sold my G2X on Ebay and I took a pretty good hit on it. I lost more money on this phone than any other phone I've ever sold. Had I known this in the beginning, I would have never purchased it as I like making good investments and usually always sell my phones after 3 to 5 months. My G2X was in mint condition with absolutely no scratches to the display or body. I only got $280 for it with free shipping so in reality, the device sold for about $270. I also laid my 100% feedback rating on the line with a garonte of a non buggy device that has never rebooted or froze with minimal screen bleed. Does the G2X have that bad of a name to drive the resale price down by $270? That just doesn't make sense considering I sold my Vibrant for $310 eight months later.
To the people I have had intelligent conversations with over the past 4 months, ill see you around if we ever happen to own the same phone again.

Not really a burden. It just didn't do me any good sitting there. I'm just trying to understand why this phone dropped in valuevso much. It doesn't make sense. After 4 months you should be able to sell your phone for about $150 less than retail value. I even stated it was bug free and I would lay my 100% feedback on the line. Its not like the G2X is a bad phone.

Here was my dillema. I am definitely buying the GSII and I'm going to purchase it on a contract so I can keep my rates when ATT buys T-Mobile. I have a feeling there going to tell everyone who's not under contract to go **** themselves. I did think about selling my Sensation and using my G2X until the GSII gets here but in the end, I would have sold my G2X either way whether its now or next month. I was affraid if I waited to long, the value would drop even more.

I plan on selling mine when the new Nexus comes out. I'm not even gonna risk it with the Galaxy S 2. I absolutely can't stand Custom UI's. I love Stock Android, and timely updates. The G2X had one of those things. haha.
My dad got lucky, and got a G2X for only $50! He picked up the floor model at this cellphone store, and oddly enough... It was in PERFECT condition. They had install in Invisible Shield on it before it was put on display. He has no screenbleed, and no freezing issues. -.-

I don't like custom UI's either but I use ADW on top of everything so it doesn't really matter whats under it. The reason why I like using ADW on top of Touch Wiz is because TW brings the very good features to the table that is not on stock Android such as a better messaging client, better email client and better contacts list. I love being able to swipe on contacts to call or message them and I also like the idea of having all of my controls built into the notification area.
When it comes to updates, Samsung has been the best with releasing them out of any other manufacturer since the release of the GSII. I think it's already received about 5 updates. Samsung has changed gears and there pulling away from the other manufacturers. They realize how important mobile technology is and therefore are putting more resources into there mobile division. If you think about it, Samsung probably has more money and more resources than any other Android manufacturer. Samsung is being highly innovative now being the first manufacturer to add hardware acceleration to there browsers. I also like how the other big manufacturers are looking to lock their devices down while Samsung is giving phones to devs so they can start developing for them.

I love Samsung's hardware, but I hate the build quality. I like having weight to my phone. Maybe when the Hercules is released, I can give that a try.
I think im going to jump on this new Sony Xperia Z or ZL (liking the Z looks better) once it becomes available factory unlocked. Should work on T-Mobile's "4G" right? My poor SGS4G is just not cutting it these days. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Don't get me wrong I like my phone but its a love/hate relationship at times. Running Barebones Gingerbread and its a hit or miss with stability, etc.
I recently move to the DC are from Miami and just also realized we have been refarmed for 1900! So I might have better luck geting any Sony Xperia phone for now.

There's no problem with this community. Some people do, some don't and some full in the middle. I don't want to speak for erik, but, I have a feeling he puts his work out publicly so others may enjoy it as well. It isn't leaching the way I look at it. More of a enjoy what you have and stop asking for more idea. So yeah 4.2 is stable enough and it will most likely be released soon. One final thought before I go, you are part of the community you have a problem with. Be one of those who do.
My next phone is going to be a rock.
It's super stable, but does have a tendency to chip a bit.
I'm not that concerned about dropping it.
Because of lack of concern about dropping it, I can TROW IT!
No dependencies on Proprietary Software or Hardware Designs. It's open source like physics!
No need for a cell plan!
I will have less people bugging me about paying bills and doing stuff for them and can concentrate on what I have to do.
Hope that helps you make your next phone decision

the iPhone 6. Apple went so crazy this time! They used android 4.3 KLP and it's a nexus device, so it gets google updates!!
Jokes aside, I might get a SGSIV. Not just to continue with the tradition of having a galaxy s device with a 4 at the end of it SGS4G-->SGS4.
Bryan, you should get the Stone III. It's stronger than the rock, it's got a huge screen(face), It's got great signal, you can get rid of everything out of your path if you throw it. It's water resistant all the way down to the bottom of the ocean, and when placed in space, it attracts objects at a faster rate than the rock, so you can make your screen bigger. My only negative points are that it doesn't fit in my pocket, and unfortunately, it won't last through my expedition to the core. You may also need to defragment its hard drive cause the stone has a tendency to fragment at times.

Stone III is ok. I'm thinking about getting the IRON 4G. It's solid! I'll probably never go to outer space or the core of any planet. So I'm probably good.

Lol I agree with hechoen it's not leeching.
And if I can be honest here I think I'm the user who shares the most lol if anything people have complained about me putting out builds too quick. As for 4.2.1 I haven't put it out because I just stabilized it today and my plans were to work on 4.1.2 until it's stable then work on 4.2.1 the only reason I released cm10.1 was for people to play with and see that it is coming but I got bombared with posts about instability battery life and PMs so why would I rush myself when I said alpha build. So I'll still stick to my plan and go with that. Not because people piss me off but because it's not ready enough.

Thank you based beastmode
I still have another year and a half on contact, so I'll be sticking with the sgs4g for a while. It does everything I want it to and almost runs the latest version of android. Honestly I think phones with quad core processors and 2 gigs of ram are huge over kill
I'm moving on to the Nexus 4 (arriving today, even though it said 1 - 2 weeks, it took 5 days). The SGS4G has fared me well for over 2 years, and thanks to the developers here, I wasn't stuck on TouchWiz. Had GB months before Samsung updated it, and ICS wouldn't have even been possible.
It sucks that this phone was pretty much abandoned by Samsung, and never got support for official Cyanogen because of it's wonky file systems. If only they had kept it more like the Vibrant and just upgraded the modem. It was a great phone for it's time, and still works well even with 2 years of heavy use. Happy to be moving on, but sad to retire a phone that's been in my pocket for so long.
we might get CM support later.
I went to Galaxy Nexus after hard bricking my SGS4G and and got my Nexus 4 at the end November. Loving my Nexus devices.

Plus you need somebody committed enough to maintain the device FOREVER! (say forever in that obnoxious voice)
LOL! Sorry - I just knew that this would get eyes!
Made the jump... Using the S3 & totally loving it. Just like my Charge though, I, within 24 hours, totally bricked it & spent a long night without sleep unscrewing it... Of course, got to hear the whole speil from the fiancée telling me THIS is why you will not be rooting my phone...
Just wanted to let anyone who's still here know that it's been a great ride with the Charge. Frustrating as hell as I saw new features roll out & knew I didn't have the hardware to run it but the Devs here & elsewhere made it a totally fun trip & made a phone with issues from the gate usable and powerful. Certainly more so than Samsung seems to have intended...
I'm just so darn glad to be able to ROM @ will & have actual choices. Dwith, YOU ARE THE MAN! Unfortunately, you've been the only guy here for the last year (NOT to discredit all those who've helped with theming, hacks, scripts, etc... but you've been the motivating force behind development for the last year or so, I believe). Gummy Charged, Nitro, et al, jumped ship long ago. And while Tweaked made this phone awesome, it's been the only
choice for too long...
So to all of you still here, thanks! Every one of you has made this forum a great time and while I have never met a one of you in person nor spoken with anyone other than through this open forum, I feel like all of you guys are great. I'm sure one of you or so is a mass murderer or some such, but hey, how bad can someone really be using a phone like the Charge....?
Again, thanks y'all. I'll keep trolling the forums on occasion and stay in intermittent touch but wanted to make sure I said thanks.

Couldn't make myself do it. I'm buying 2 phones @ a time. The Charge for me & the fiancée was $600+ back in the day and I just can't make myself do that again for the newest / best out there. I've been keeping my eyes open for @ least the last 6 months, knowing that if I was smart with my contract renewal, I'd be able to get the S3 @ a serious discount. I really wanted the 32gb version but for $100 and some change, got 2 of the S3s (16gb) on a contract renewal. And, like Mr. Burns would say....

According to my sources, the GSM version of the S4 will be out April 28th (everyone knows this), while the CDMA/Verizon is delayed about a month later, apparently due to "stringent network testing policies". I too will be making the jump when it's time, but until then I'll still be here.

Preorders for the US Cellular GS4 (which is basically the exact same thing) start on April 16th.
i picked up gnex for $150. works good enough for me. sadly, neither my galaxy note 2 nor the gnex are as good at playing music as the charge is. so the charge isn't fully retired yet!

from what i've read it's a cheaper lower quality wolfson, but no official voodoo support. asop roms have unofficial, but i don't want to lose my s pen.
no audio boost i've tried gets as loud without distortion like the charge + voodoo does. at stock the gnex and gn2 are pitifully quiet when hooked up to a car stereo.
S3 and Note 2 are fully supported by Boeffla Sound, which is essentially the same thing. I've been using AC!D+Noozoxide on my Note 2, and it sounds great.

i've tried just about everything. i spent almost 3 hours in my car switching different rom, kernels and audio hacks and nothing came close the the sound level and quality of the charge. worst thing is when it's set too loud it'll actually pause the music player and set the volume to about 60%. it's happened with every music player i've tried - noozy, power amp, google, samsung...
i've used the voodoo hack and it works the best but still not as good as the charge. the kernel i use isn't supported by boeffla.
i'm using the sprint version if that makes any difference.

There's nothing accidental about the leaked phone in the slightest.
It'll be good to see when it's officially announced but I just find it funny how so many people can actually believe it was an accident.

Definitely building the hype, in my opinion. They've managed to keep KitKat a secret from pretty much everyone (including loads of Google employees) so they wouldn't be so simple in making such a mistake on the video unveiling the newest member to Mountain View.

It does look nice but a bit of a strange mix. From the close up pictures it looks like another LG Nexus but the phone itself looks more like a Sony model. It could just look that way because of a case but I'm not too sure.

It should be another LG device. HTC made the first two (G1 and HTC Nexus) then Samsung (Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus) now LG. I'm guessing manufactures get two shots at designing a Nexus phone for Google.
Same with the Tablets. Asus so far has made both Nexus tablets.
Either way I'm excited.

ahh crap, well i really hope so, from what i know nexus devices have always had good batteries, great performance, pure AOSP and the latest android of the time, i mean, the sd card slot is the only good thing they lack
I believe up until the Nexus S, they all had SD cards. But that was WAAAAAYYY before cloud storage. And I believe that's why they don't have SD cards anymore, Google wants you to use their Google drive storage and music cloud services with a Google phone. Seeing how devices are expanding their internal every time a new phone comes out, the Nexus 5 SHOULD come with 32/64g variants. 32 is more than enough for me. Im currently at 11g with my S3 and used the SD very little.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 4
the fact is, here in Italy 3G is a total f*ck-up, HSDPA is unstable, and i can for no reason rely on internal storage
guess i'm gonna have to get one, open it, add an sd card slot on my own, close it, pick a god and pray him to make it work
hell, i don't want to deal with bloatware again (samsung/acer/htc/any other oem) or lack of features, if i just could build a freaking fully-featured phone on my own :banghead:
I wonder if this is Google's way of competing with the iPod Touch or it is just gonna be a Phablet
