[Q] No phone Calls, only data and text - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I got this phone a month ago and flashed various stock based ROMs with no trouble. I then tried AOSP (cm10.1, eclipse) and everything seemed to be ok although, I couldn't make phone calls because I have no service where my house is and was never able to test (I remember that in settings->about phone->system status it said it wasn't activated and it didn't display my phone number, but when I went back to stock it did display my number). Then I went back to a stock ROM and my phone would not make or receive calls. It would send and receive text and was able to received data via 4g but when trying to make a call, it would say "dialing" and then eventually just stop without making any type of connection. when calling the phone it would go straight to voice mail as if it was off. I used odin to go entirely stock and had the same problem. I ended up returning the phone and getting a new one and I am running Clean rom 5.5.1 and everything is working fine but I'd really like to try other roms but I don't want to have the same problem again. anyone know if it was just a bad phone or if I did something wrong? if so, what? any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You should have consulted xda before returning the phone. With your original phone, you needed to reprovision your sim to properly have your data return since you had Odin flashed. That code only works on ICS though.
The loss of data on your prior phone was from flashing CM10.1, you just needed to follow this post to resolve your issue without Odin flashing a stock rom.
Edit: The sim reprovision code suggestion is still valid BUT disregard the data loss part...

Help; I've destroyed my phone.

Running an HTC Touch Pro 2, Verizon. Saw the update, and saw the Cookiemonster/Energy ROM preview; though it looked sweet.
Flashed HardSPL.
Flashed Cookiemonster/EnergyROM CDMA. Was working fine; but my wife is the primary user, and she wasn't comfortable with the interface. Flashed the official 6.5 update- phone was no longer able to connect (making calls gets a prerecorded "Cannot authenticate at this time", SMS messages can't be sent, no internet connection, etc.)
Tried *22899, and *228 option 1; have re-flashed both the official rom, and the April 17th build 21899 "sense UI" version of Energy. Both have the same issue. Calling the phone causes it to ring, but the call instantly hangs up as the ringer starts to play.
At this point, I'd just like to get the phone back to stock... Can anyone provide me with the instructions to get this back to Verizon stock?
Any help is appreciated; Thanks!
Just flash the stock rom by usb or sd card. Also you need to call verizon and ask them to authenticate the phone because you did a hard reset.

Do exactly what the previous poster said.
When you flash to the official ROM it wipes out the A-Key. My prefered method: Rather than calling Verizon, if you have another phone, just activate that, then reactivate your TP2. That will generate a new A-key and save you the phone call to Verizon. 'Using Verizon's Online Web Activation'

[Q] Sky ICS 4.2F "Connection Problem or Invalid MMI"

I just flashed Seanzscreams's latest ROM SKY ICS 4.2F-2.5 with the RUXLF modem, and tried to punch in the *#2236# code to LTE/Auto it and got "Connection Problem or Invalid MMI". The phone works fine, as I was able to speed dial out of contacts.
Sean posted that you need not pull the SIM card for this operation, so the first few times I did it (and I've reflashed the full monty, with wipes base and everything a couple times now), I didn't pull the SIM. THis last time, I did pull the SIM and ust got a "No Mobile Connection" message. Popped the SIM back in and came back to the "Connection Problem/ Invalid MMI" message.
Any thoughts?
I've also had problems connecting to my Exchange server at work, though I had it working fine in the stock email in Sean's 4.2E. I was able to connect to the server with K9, but that program seems to suck. Anyone have a suggestion for a better Exchange-friendly, push-friendly email app? Thanks!

check checksum or redownload rom for ur device rogers ot att
I've reflashed, not sure about checksum.
How do I check the checksum?
I've now flashed both ATT ROMs and the 2.5b update. I'm going to flash the 3.5 here in a second and see what happens.
Worst case, I roll back to 4.2E-17, which worked great for me. BUt I don't know the cause of this problem, so diagnosing it is a *****.
Anyone get this?

"No SIM card" initially...
Hello. This is my first post in this forum. I have flashed this ROM with the 6/27 update for an AT&T Skyrocket. I'm experiencing the "No SIM card" message for 5-10 seconds, then it seems to connect to my 3G MicroCell and work fine. I followed the directions for this that I found after searching the forum, with *#2263# and so forth, but it doesn't make a difference. One thing... I placed my AT&T account in suspension while I experience, ummm, "job transition." My MicroCell recognizes my number, though. And when I atttempt to dial a number the system at least recognizes my number.
Otherwise I'm loving this build! Any help would be appreciated, and let me know what else I can tell you to help answer the question.
UPDATE: I hadn't restored my latest backup prior to this. I did (apps and system data) and it doesn't do it anymore. I know that doesn't help much, but there it is...
Doesn't work with SkyICS
I wanted to unlock my Skyrocket, but the #0111*CODE# wasnt working, kept getting Invalid MMI Code
I had to restore my GB Stock Rom and I was finally able to unlock my SR

[Q] I can do everything except make calls! please help!

I have a Mexican S2 LTE i727 Skyrocket from Telcel.
I rooted it, unlocked it via a web code i bought, and after a few hiccups everything seemed to be working fine (GPS, Wifi, installing and using apps), i did try to keep blocked cellphone data because i dont have a plan yet.
Yesterday i received my 1st call (not my main phone yet) and i found out that i cant make a call longer than 15 seconds!, as the phone will cut audio, or hang up, or restart the phone all together...
The only thing weird i can think of, is that when i first unlocked the phone is said "SUCCESSFUL" and 14 seconds later "FAILED", i restarted and changed roms a few times, and kept being locked...
I tried the alternative methods they sent me by mail and did something that apparently unlocked it successfully, because now i dont get any message when i insert a different SIM, and the carrier name actually comes up (2 different carriers), and everything seems to work...
BUT when i dial *#7465625# to confirm if the phone is unlocked, i get a "Unfortunatelly, the process com.android.phone has stopped." message.
*#06# does gets my imei correctly (a different ROM said it was 0, I changed roms and i could see the imei correctly again.
I tried changing to different mods, like Embyro 6.0, Embyro 6.3, Embyro 4.1, CM9.1, CM10.0, ATT stock deodexed, ATT ICS 404, and a few others... and its the same with every one the phone will hang up, or reboot or lose all audio in or out. (it wont pass the bootscreen with the actual TELCEL stock rom from sammobile)
Am i missing something? a test i could do to see whats wrong?
Could it be a hardware issue? any other *# codes i could try?
also... Anyone out there has the official TELCEL firmware/rom??? or an alternate source for some reason i cant get the one from sammobile to work and i was planning on taking it back for warranty if i confirmed its a hardware issue... :,(

[Q] Stuck in roaming after flashing MIUI (fixed)

Hey everyone here at XDA, just wanted to share my recent experience with loosing my phone service after flashing MIUI from the clockwork rom manager app. Basically, i flashed the rom from within the rom manager app and really liked the rom until I noticed that I had lost data and phone service. Apparently I was stuck in roaming, with a little triangle replacing the 4g icon in the notification bar at the top of the screen. I did a bunch of searching through forums and everyone who was having this issue was having it due to the loss of there IMEI. The people afflicted by loss of service did not have the correct IMEI or any at all on their phone.
But my IMEI was there and it was correct. So I restored the nandroid backup I made at the time of flashing MIUI but that didn't solve the issue so I restored the backup I made when I originally rooted my phone and installed CWM. That still didn't fix it. Some forum posts were saying the SIM card might have been fried, some were saying that they had totally lost the ERI folder, or something... I was getting worried. The last thing I tried was flashing a stock 4.1.1 rom via Odin and still I had no service. Well I needed a phone for work so I went on the VZW site Monday morning and switched my service to an old blackberry storm (I know, right?) that I had laying around and went to work. When I got home I looked on the web some more and found info about accessing the hidden menu with a code that wipes all data and settings. Is this different than the factory wipe from the settings menu? Anyway I wiped via the hidden menu and after that the little roaming triangle was gone. I switched my service back to the Gs3, which involved taking out the SIM card and registering it again, and after that my service, data, and 4g icon was back. Problem solved. I am wondering though if I could have used the hidden menu/wipe feature from MIUI, and for that matter what caused my phone to get stuck in roaming?
I would like to root, and explore other roms but now I'm worried about this happening again. It doesn't help that someone told me service providers can deny service for rooting your phone. I don't know if that's true or not. I know now that I should make a IMEI backup, even though I don't think that was my problem. I recently took the ota and am back on stock 4.1.2. Just wanted to share this with everyone, and bounce it around to see if anyone has any ideas, and maybe this could help someone who is having the same issue. As far as the hidden menu and wipe code, I don't remember what it was but you could look it up if you need to try it.
Thanks everyone

My suggestion, never use Rom Manager to flash!! Stick to TWRP(I prefer twrp), CWM or Odin.

SIM hacked/infected - reflashing does not remove it

Hello XDA.
Over the last three months, my phone has been regularly sending SMS's to a number in Singapore. Of course this is not something I have had anything to do with.
I have an LG G3 (D855) phone running Android 6.0_EU. My phone has been rebooting itself numerous times a day with the message that the SIM card was removed. It starts back up and usually works without a hitch. Checking my carriers log, I see that every reboot correlates to a sent text to Singapore at the exact time the phone was booting up again.
There is absolutely no evidence as far as I can tell that these messages are sent from my phone.
As I only just recently discovered this, I started investigating. I flashed my phone with a 6.0 KDZ from a thread on this forum, but it still rebooted afterwards and sends texts. I placed my SIM into my wifes D855, and it started experiencing the same issue. When we placed her SIM back into her phone, we could see that her phone number had ALSO started sending texts to Singapore.
We flashed her phone, put in a completely fresh SIM with an unused phone number, and that number started sending texts as well.
This leads me to thinking that there was a virus or malware on my own SIM and phone which then was tranferred to my wifes phone via my SIM and then from her phone onto the fresh SIM.
My question is this:
Has anyone ever heard of a malware/virus capable of replicating itself in such a degree that it exists on SIM cards and on the phone while it survives reflashing a stock ROM?
Also, is there any way to competely, and i mean completely wipe a phone so a bootkit is removed as well?
I hope there are some wise heads out there who has any idea regarding this.
According to Google there aren't really an precidences of what we are experiencing.
Infection has now been removed
Persistent memory can be a nuisance.
Confirmed infection has been removed by two days of inactivity on a fresh SIM-card by doing the following:
Rooted the phone using KingRoot and a guide here on XDA
Installed the custom Recovery TWRP
Installed the Lineage OS 7.1.1 custom Firmware
Through this, we can with a 95% certainty determine that the virus/malware resided in the recovery partition and the reflash of stock ROM did not flash the recovery partition.
In fear of being reinfected, I have not inserted an infected SIM into the new environment test test, whether or not it would be reinfected.
I hope this helps anyone who may experience this gnarly situation.
