[ROM][CM10][Kang][Alpha][3 Aug] q&a

I installed this Rom and I have a few glitches that I didnt see in the development thread but I dont have enough post to actually post in there. I cant find a bug report site so I'm curious hth Im supposed to find solutions or even address the issues.
1) Keyboard disappears while typing in Google chrome.
2) Status bar flickers and shows multiple images at times.
3)Notifications don't open for advanced options when long pressed.
4)First time booting the screen was distorted and couldnt read anything,had to press back a couple of times and then it went through setup fine

I just installed Chrome and couldn't reproduce the issue you mentioned. It seemed to behave properly during the brief testing I tried.

Yes (sort of a staggered effect).

Not certain what you mean here. I get a few options (WiFi, BT, GPS & Vol) and an option to get to settings.

Yup I had that as well. on the very first screen after installing it for the first time.
You must remember that CM10 is very much an Alpha and subject to a lot of change as the various bugs get ironed out. There seem to be quite a few issues in getting CM10 (from CM9) to run with JB. So far the devs have done a fantastic job.
Please also note that you'll get shouted at if you post questions like these in the Dev thread. It's being used almost exclusively by the CM10 Devs. I believe that there is a CM10 thread in General where it might be more appropriate to post questions like these.

1.I am getting the issue with chrome, although this happened in ViperS also so it suggests to me that it is a particular chrome bug rather than CM10.
2.I only get this when I have a notification and only briefly.
3.Havn't tried sorry.
4.I didn't have this issue.

Easiest way to disable capacitive buttons

Hi guys,
I tried searching for this but I keep running into very old threads.
I read on Android Central forum that there's a zip file to make Galaxy S3 CM10 have the same exact menu bar as Nexus devices and completely disable the capacitive buttons.
Could someone please point me to this zip file? Also, is it possible that this is already just an option in CM10?
This is honestly the only thing stopping me from getting this phone. Since I have Nexus 7, I don't like how I have to adjust to buttons every time I use my wife's Galaxy S3.

you should definitely check out paranoid android and all its modes that are available.

Thank you! This is just what I need but it doesn't seem stable in this video I found (perhaps because it's outdated). I can't post a link since I'm a new member.

I am running the 9/6 build and i havent had any issues with the ROM.
not one reboot, no screen flicker, everything works for me.
just do a nandroid prior so you can revert back.
if i remmeber correctly, there is a bug that causes the backlights of the keys to stay on. nto sure if its been fixed

I think most CM based Roms have the option to disable the capacitive buttons and enable the on screen navigation bar.
Unless it's been fixed now, when I was running Paranoid Android every time you reboot your phone you have to go back in to the settings and disable the lights on the capacitive buttons.

NFC tags

How many of you use NFC tags? I just got some and seems to be hit or miss if they work. Sometimes it will trigger and work, other times it opens the set-up screen, and sometimes it doesn't work at all unless I unlock the phone.
Thoughts, ideas?

using a case?
go to more settings and see if the ROM youre running has polling modes. I think that effecs when NFC works.
but do a search, theres a lengthy thread dedicated to NFC tags and their uses. might find info there

I watched the video here on setting them up, how they work and such, but was wondering what peoples true life experiences was with them. Currently running Hyperdrive and Darthstalker as my main 2 drivers. Current one does not show polling in the settings. It was just weird how sometimes it works great, then other times doesn't even register until I change something on the phone (like it is in sleep mode).

[Q] Lock screen apps

I'm sorry if this thread doesn't belong here but I have a question/problem: I have tried several lock screen apps and two of them seemed pretty nice though they had one VERY bad habit. I have my phone's sim card secured with a pin code and the lock screen apps I'm talking about kick in even BEFORE I get to the screen to unlock my sim card whenever I boot up or restart my phone. That is NOT normal behavior and I don't know if it's device specific or Android version specific since I have yet to see ayone else besides my sister complain about this particular issue. I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 mini running Android v4.1.2 and the apps in question are Hi Locker and Snaplock. So is this a bug within the apps or is this Android specific?

A difficult start with LineageOS followed by a happy end ...

Hello, I have just installed LineageOS 16 onto my old Samsung Galaxy S III Neo and I am very satisfied, but I find a little problem at a very start of it. In fact it shows me the screen where to type the sim code twice. The second time it shows me that I don't have to type it again as when I touch it it disappears and appears a short message saying that "Trebuchet is not responding", so I close it and a black screen appears. At last I push the power button and everything goes well. I'll be grateful to you if you give me a suggestion in order to fix this problem. Best regards. Alberto (from Genoa, Italy)

Could you link to the lineage os forum post? It sound like is a beta build thus some small problems like these are not uncommon.
However, I would suggest changing the launcher to something like the nova launcher and see if that helps.

Hi, thanks a lot for your reply! I'll try to install nova launcher and try it, even if I noticed that some people are not happy with nova. As for lineage os forum I didn't even know it existed. How can I do in order to link my thread to it? (I am a beginner in such things ...)
