my galaxy s1 browser smoother than tf300t..why? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My galaxy s1 phandroid stock browser is more smoother than stock jb browser on tf300t.. I understand one is custom ROM and one is Asus ROM...but given hw difference...I just find it to be confusing.
Any idea why may that be?

The transformer line of tablets have slow I/O issues. Browsing on stock ROM is quite bad. It might be worth installing a custom ROM

Your TF300T browser can be faster, but You must install browser2ram. Your TF300T must be rooted.

+1 on browser2ram. It only works with the stock browser, not any aftermarket browsers, including Chrome. This, along with setting my user agent to 'ipad' makes the stock browser much more usable.

browser2ram for chrome?

This will probably be a little noobish... but the stock browser and chrome look alot alike. Is there a way to get browser2ram to work for chrome? During at times is painful. It should i just get a class 10 card and do the ext sd mod?

I believe that in the most recent version of CleanROM Inheritance, the data2SD mod has actually been made to work with Chrome as well.
EDIT: forgot to mention that I am not theone to comment on your second question, since I have never used the data2SD mod myself and therefore am not a good judge of whatever the improvement might be...
The latest browser 2 ram works with chrome and I have updates it in latest CleanROM Inheritance

Well, the sbdags' reply inplies that it should, as I gather from it it works on Chrome by default (so just by installing the mod itself) and that he "merely" incorporated it in his excellent ROM.
I know it works on stock based ROMs. Just need to install it and try. You need to be rooted of course.

is there any way to test, other than by guessing that it may or may not be improved after installing? i will give it a go when my infinity has some battery.

Nope, browsing and scrolling through web sites and use your eyes as the judge!! ) There are a few test sites that you could use, but visual is the best way!
It works great. Just try you can easily revert it.

You can always go into SuperSU and check the logs to see if Browser2RAM requested root access or not... If it's working, you should see it requesting root access in the SuperSU logs.

Does browser2ram work with Chrome Beta as well. Seeing as Chrome beta is based on Chrome 25 (vs. 18 for the stable Android Chrome) is there a way to get browser2ram to work with this as well. Thanks

Pure AOKP JB ROM?

Where can I find a pure AOKP JB build for the TF700T. I checked the AOKP website. There is no official JB build for the TF700T. I checked the Transformer TF700 Android Development forum. I couldn't find one either.

Wow, you mean there is no AOKP JB build for a flagship device like the TF700T? I'm pretty sure that someone is working on it. The closest I could find is Baked Black Bean( BBB). I will wait for the release of BBB7 and then take a look at it.
I have been looking too. I am a big fan of AOKP, I have it on my Galaxy Nexus. I am running BB6. It runs great. I was thinking of trying to port over the TF101 ROM, but I'm a noon when it comes to that stuff.

Might not even have to "port", now that AOKP is running off their own source. I suppose you could check the CM vendor tree for our device and start from there, I'm sure they're pretty similar.
I've built CM in the past, but I currently lack the hard drive space to do it currently unfortunately.

General stuttering and lagginess

I just got this tablet and am running Stock 4.1.1 android. I have unlocked and root my device. Although I have noticed that occasionally the tablet stutters or is a little laggy. Coming from my Nexus 4 I do not have no lag or stutter issues.
Is the Nexus 4 really that much faster?
Does the 4.2.1 update fix the lag on the tf300?
Is the stock ROM(4.1.1) just not optimized and would go to a custom ROM fix or help with the lag?
I assumed that the tegra 3 would give similar performance to what I get with my Nexus 4, which is very quick and pretty much never has any stutter or lag issue, but maybe the Nexus 4 is really that much faster. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've read that performing a factory reset has fixed this issue for some people. Is there any issues with performing a factory reset on an unlocked rooted tf300t? Would I have to reroot the tablet?

CleanROM is a good choice because it's regularly updated and based off stock Asus firmware. However, when I used to use it in the past there were issues with using custom high-performance kernels cause it broke the ability to use my front camera (not good :thumbdown. So now I'm using CM10.1, on the official nightlies and its the best experience so far.. latest stock 4.2.2 android, full dock support and everything works as intended. Plus, I think there's been a performance kernel for CM10.1 released in the dev section just recently. Take a look!

Front facing camera was fixed a long time ago with kernel modules. Newest version that will be out soon based on 4.2.1 is based from the Asus 10.6.1.8 source for the TF300 so everything will work correctly

Yeah I think I may jump onto CleanROM again, now that I'm using linux I'll need stock based roms.. have an idea for 4.2.1 OTA? And would we need to be on the new bootloader/kernel?
AW: General stuttering and lagginess
I had the same Problem with my TF300T ago, but after a few days of using the lags were gone (Im on official 4.2.1 not rooted). So i would use it for a few more days and see what happens
Sorry for the bad english, im from germany ˆˆ

i presume you are on latest stock.
Your options:
Custom Rom:
CM10.2 has all the 4.3 features in it and is smooth and fast.
or
Wait for asus to release a 4.3 stock based rom
cheers

sure you can flash stock rom via fastboot and revert back to stock. but keep in mind that you void your warranty when you unlock your bootloader.

[Q] which ROM is closest to google play edition the 300t?

I've got very limited experience with rooting & roms but I'm finding the lag of the stock Asus transformer 300t to be horrible. so I'd like to know which ROM would be closest to AOSP + GMS with the keyboard add-ons.
I'd also like to change what some of the special keys do.
thanks in advance.

To get close to the Google Play editions, you will need a AOSP based ROM. That includes ROMs like CM, AOKP, OmniROM, SlimKAT, CMB, etc. Pretty much anything that is not CROMi-x, which is based of stock, but optimized to get rid of the lag.

I was wondering which of these was the closest? And if any of them had the keyboard controls for the Transformer.

I'm using the CM M3 snapshot and keyboard is working fine. It is pretty close to AOSP, but I haven't tried all the others.
If you don't know which ROM to choose you can install multirom and have them ALL on your device
