Hi Bhattu
I have just got an Allwinner A13 Cortex A8 1.0Ghz and I am wanting a CM10.1 on it as ICS is sluggish. I have done the CWM backup and have a full backup of the original ROM. I willspend some time looking into putting something together that should work, however this may take some time as I have never built a ROM from the ground up.

I have a cupple JB 4.2.2 ROMs I have Posted, They are Identical except that 1 supports The gt811_ts(touchscreen) the dmard06(gsensor) and the gc0308(camera) camera support is for single camera but multiple hardwares are compatible.
The other Mod supports many touchscreen and Gsensor combos but requires compatibility scripts which I have not posted and are located in a place I cannot post at this time, I will place them on my 4shared once I get them, but for now if you want to use it you could give me an lsmod from your tab and I will try and get a compat set posted for it.
I was/am working on a CM10.1 but at present I am still trying to get the repositories downloaded. If any interest in this feel free to contact me.
I have an idea that I might be able to create a compatibility script to make an existing A10 version work Using the uboot and kernel from this Rom.

I dont Know if any of the ones that have been converted have that combo... but here is a link to all of the ones I have currently:
http://www.4shared.com/dir/snrY5LKs/Compatability.html
You should be able to test all of them... and if you find one that works I would recommend re-flash the rom then load only that one... if you do not find one that works, Load a Working Rom... make sure it is Rooted, Uberizer can do this easily.. Do a Google on it.
then with the Tab Connected via ADB type the following in a cmd Window :
Note : Open a cmd window by going to a folder where you will store a couple of files in windows explorer, right click while pressing shift key then select open command window here from the menu (ensure that the explorer window is selected but no files are clicked and the Mouse is over a blank area)
adb shell su -c "cat /dev/block/nandc > /mnt/sdcard/nandc-root.img" (Press Enter Key)
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/nandc-root.img (Press Enter Key)
adb shell su -c "cat /dev/block/nanda > /mnt/sdcard/nanda-bootloader.img" (Press Enter Key)
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/nanda-bootloader.img (Press Enter Key)
Close the command window.
Now in the folder in which you started the command window you will find 2 files called nanda-booloader.img and nandc-root.
I need those files to make you a compatibility package.
Try the ones here first though... PM me or leave a post here and I will help if I can.
Thanks

This Thread should have a CWM for you... :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189640
Follow the directions to find out which version matches your ROM... the CWM installed will depend on the ROM Partitioning scheme...
For a custom ROM the A10 device should be readily Moddable... I have a How to on that on a different forum ... but will post a similar topic here on xda soon...
In the mean time check out this thread on CM10 for the A10 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821398
Combine that with the methods for modding a ROM and you will have it working in no time...
I do not have an a10 I have its child the A13 both share a lot of the same attributes however so methods used to mod one should work on the other ... Once I post a thread on a sort of how to here I will let you know where it is .. or just do a search on modding your a13 Rom... the title will include those words so you will be able to find it... I may even toss a10 into it as well since the 2 are so much alike in programming..
Be aware CWM is functional but not a perfect choice for our devices.. it can also mess up your ROM if used improperly... keep in mind most of those neat CWM Flashable programs, functions etc.. are Not aimed at our devices and our partitioning is nand .. almost everything else uses the standard Linux conventions for Block devices..... this means almost any CWM Flashable that directly reads or writes or mounts a Block device will either fail to work or cuase issues on your Tab. Any of the generic ones for instance the ones for beats audio or other programs will work... look at the installer script inside the zip of any you want to try... if it mounts a Block device it probable will not work ie. mmcblk0px
our device does not use this for the Tab internal partitioning.. it uses nandx where x is a-k depending on your device, the only mmcblk devices are the external sd card and the external usb block devices.
Almost any of the ones that Do Not address these directly will install on our devices but may not work as intended.. most will require init.d which you would have to install... there is an app on the market that will do this called universal init.d also your tab must be rooted... many apps/methods for rooting exist, the one i use is Uberizer it has many functions .. you can locate it by googling Uberizer.
I hope some of this is usefull to you.
Thanks.

Would you mind if you do a patch for my tab? I'm sure that you saw this LSMOD listing, but I'd like to have a JB ROM on it even if camera support for it would be sketchy.

Is that lsmod from an Alcatel OneTouch Glory X 918N or an A13 Tab ?
If your question relates to the Alcatel OneTouch this is the wrong Thread... this Thread is about the A13 devices... Anything I told you here would relate to those devices and anything I link here would be for those as well..
If this relates to an A13 Tab your post confused me because it refers to the alcatel... in any case first try flashing the ROM I posted with Livesuite
then use the patch files from my other post one by one... if none work we can work on a patch specifically for your Tab.In most cases to make the Mods for you I need the script.bin from the bootloader.img and the boot.img from your fully functional ROM. You can get those by doing a firmware Dump using a utility... I use Uberizer I do not currently have it on my 4shared and cannot link the source location here as the site requires registration, however if you do a Google on it you will find it, or look for Techknow.me that is the source Forum but does require registration.

Lulz the stuff on your sig must've confused you. I'm referring to an A13 tablet that I own. I'll give the ROM a try some time, as I'm quite bummed at the one that I'm running right now being that it lags quite a lot.

OK I see it now... it was your sig line... sorry for the confusion.... I hope the suggestions helped. The JB 4.2.2 rom works well for me... and I intend
to attempt to port a CM10.1 rom using the kernel/bootloader from this rom with modification.
There is another thread on this forum dealing with a ROM called FaastJB that would be the v1 which is based on JB 4.1.1 ... My ROM is based on
a newer Factory ROM JB 4.2.2 and is also the basis of FaastJB V2 JB 4.2.2 ... I made my ROM compatible with the Faast JB V2 comatibility patches so patches from it will work on my ROM as well... I am still working on improving my ROM and am looking into a better patching method that will not tie TS G-sensor combos together and will also support camera drivers.
here is a link to the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189569
I hope this helps.

Do you have adb connect with the bootloop ?
If so you can open a adb terminal and get whatever info you want...
outside that the only thing I can think of is to write a script to log the progress of boot and write the log to an external MicroSD.

@fsebentley
I flashed your ROM to my A13 Tab and managed to get everything to work via a modified Script.bin and certain kernel modules.
However, I have this really weird issue where it would crash within 5 mins of booting, any ideas?

I suspect the drivers you are using may not be compatible (they must come from a ROM using a 3.0.8+ kernel) or you may not have all the necessary files to use them... what drivers and peripheral files did you use ?
let me know... and if that doesnt look like the issue we can do the following...
Send me a copy of the script.bin and I will have a go at it... I have not had any issues with crashing...but others using the FaastJB V2 version of this have had the issue... the compatibility scripts come from there, i just added the method used by Faast to a version of my ROM to accommodate those who cannot make a compatibility modification themselves...
I could almost guarantee a compatible ROM for you if you sent me a copy of the script.bin and the boot.img from your OEM Rom... to get them the simplest way is to do the following with that ROM Loaded on your Tablet:
Create a folder call it whatever you like...
In explorer browse to that folder, hold the shift key and with your mouse over a blank area in the folder right click, select open command window here from the resulting menu..
Ensure the adb files are in your path or copy them to the folder you created.
then type the following:
adb shell su -c "cat /dev/block/nandc > /mnt/sdcard/nandc-root.img" (Press enter Key)
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/nandc-root.img (Press enter Key)
adb shell su -c "cat /dev/block/nanda > /mnt/sdcard/nanda-bootloader.img" (Press enter Key)

you will get 2 files from that ... nanda-bootloader.img and nandc-root.img those have all the info I will need...

[APP]Ubuntu Install Guide - Galaxy Note Testers wanted - 12.04 in testing

I have working on a project in the form of an app, which guides you through the installation of Ubuntu within android via chroot. It includes a ubuntu 10.10 image I have been working on which includes lots of program to allow users to develop program/scripts etc within Ubuntu on there phone/tablet.
However I have I have yet to get much testing on this device and would like more feedback from users!
Please post your device/kernel/rom along with what did and didn't work, so I can draw up what I need to change in the next release of the app/ubuntu build.

This image is 1.5GB to download, once extracted 3.5GB, and include alot of programs like openoffice, thunderbird, firefox and over programs for 'developing' - Also allows you to switch between the LXDE and Gnome desktops, and you can define screen size on boot!
ubuntuV5-image.zip
Lightweight Image - This is yet to be included in an app, will be included in the next release (aka 2.0 ), so get it now before anyone else!
This image is just under 500MB to download, once extracted 2.5GB, and include only programs needed (LXDE desktop, web browser, + other basic programs) also allows you to define screen size on boot
ubuntuV5-sm-image.zip
12.04 images
I have now started work on building new 12.04 images these come in core (just the bear-bones ubuntu) and full (ubuntu with GUI and other programs) and will be updated as 12.04 moves through its milestones (and when I make new updates to the mods I make from the main stream arm port).
These are for testing ONLY until 12.04 reaches stable release.
You can view the images here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/12.04/
I also want to build up a small group of testers who I can email with new images and scripts, these will include all future distros that I do. If you are interested in joining this test group please PM me or send a email to [email protected]
The only requirement is that your willing to test and send feedback along with screen shoots etc where required, it would also be good if your willing to try different roms and kernels for your device!

Indeed its VERY odd that stock works but custom roms do not work...should really be the other way round, perhaps something to do with how the device file system in custom roms is different or something?
I don't know, this is the problem trying to support as many devices as possible, I don't have the device to test and work out what's wrong, just got to keep basically stabbing into the dark until I hit something
Change log for new release (release will be in the next few days for paid end of next week for free) - all new images etc will be added to the first post as they are finished and uploaded!
*PAID app now supports 960x540 'qHD' resolution
*ALL Ubuntu lightweight images cleaned up even more saved another 300MB of space
*ALL Ubuntu images updated with all new updates
*ALL Ubuntu images now in .zip format to fix problems with some peoples devices failing to extract the .rar files
*Boot script updated, once booted now terminal acts like a command line interface for Ubuntu, and some boot problems now fixed
*Image and boot script now downloadable separately to allow easy updating of the script
*+more likely before release

Samsung Galaxy Note G7000
FM 1.5 Kernel
RocketRom V10 (14Toggle, smoothnessupdate, addperformance, stock theme)
Note freezes after executing ubuntu.sh, only restarting by holding powerbutton helps...
It's a pity, I thought booting ubuntu is only possible on a Rom with loop devices capabilities and now I read that only the stock rom is working
tried ubuntuv3.sh see picture:

Odd so I'm guessing the two kernels that don't work don't have loop support...best talk with the kernel developer

Yep, I was really enjoying - had PHP and mysql installed and working as a wee test environment, then flashed FM and no more Ubuntu.
Thanks for the work - appreciated
If I manually downloaded the script and the image, where do I put
the extracted content of the zip, and the script ? on the root of external SD or phone storage ?

Place them in a folder called ubuntu on either your sdcard or internal memory as you have both either should work

Thanks, by pressing ahead without knowing I put the files there, however, in terminal emulator, after aquiring superuser persmissions, changing to the ubuntu folder wont work. I must be doing something wrong. I came as far as cd /sdcard but /sdcard/ubuntu fails. Asking ls -a says dir is empty ? Linux noob

check in a file explorer where the sdcard is mounted, sometimes the internal memory is mounted as the sdcard directory and then the sdcard itself is mounted in another directory within that.
Once you work out where its mounted then just cd to that location
Got it to work. Copied the ubuntu folder to /
Pretty responsive in 24bit colour. Working with cassies ultralight v4.

Hi
Before run ubuntu.sh check if loop inst bussy with other kind of programs who use it.
try losetup will show you how many loop you have used and edit ubuntu.sh to get 1 free
like last 1 user will be 10 then line with busybox mknod /dev/loop11 b 7 11
and wher you see loop0 change to loop11 or any free number.
Hope will works for you.

Hi,
Nice work but you forgot something.
Your image wont work on many device since the /sdcard partition if VFAT who limit the file to 2G.
converting /sdcard to ext2 or ext4 is the way to work with files larger than 2G.

Thank you very much I will integrate these changes in the next version of the script
you can also change de fstab line where root partition is mount by uuid and replace by name
losetup returns nothing...
I also asked the dev of FM kernel and he told me that it has loop capabilities
if losetup show nothing then or you dont have loop set or you not root.
for see if you r root type id and the have to show your id. If is not root type su -
For the no loop set then the original ubuntu.sh have to work.

Notice to annoying n00bs & newbies
Most of your questions are already answered on this thread so pls read it...
1) Either your MTK is still ro.secure=1 then use this method here then EXIT/ CLOSE it first then re-start the porting tool...
2) i've already put in alot of error checking to make sure this porting tool works, either the Auto or Manual port, it will leave behind Ported-CTR folder then manually install it via SPFT when it fail to auto install.... Most probably why it fail to install is b'cos you use SuperSu did you bother to look at your MTK device & grant access to Root Shell... There has been cases where the stock recovery is already corrupted then this tool will also port a corrupted CTR too. Re-install your stock 3e recovery.img & make sure you can boot into it then only use the porting tool again or just use the manual port... The differences is Auto will upload whatever recovery already at your device be it older CWM or TWRP & it will repack it with CTR ramdisk. While Manual will use whatever at your stock 3e -> factory_init.project.rc, meta_init.modem.rc, ueventd.rc & etc... Refer to this by Master Shifu carliv... :good: This tool has no log b'cos it is actually a simple copy & paste program, thats what it actually do....
3) Pls bear in mind that this porting tool has been downloaded by many & confirmed working BUT i can't guarantee that it will work flawlessly on your MTK device so continue trying & report back the solution if you found one...
4) This has been mentioned many times on this thread, if you really can't get it to work then don't just say your porting tool doesn't work...
Instead list out everything then it'll be easier to trouble-shoot
a) What OS you are using on the PC & your MTK...
b) Did you disable UAC & Anti-Virus on your PC
c) Did you execute the porting tool at C:\ drive if you're using XP else then at your Desktop READ what the porting tool says & it will ask you to wait then wait for it to continue without pressing the OK button...
As said many times, this porting tool uses Russian Master Shifu Michfood Repack Utils Huge Credits to him, it is actually DOS program with cygwin dll working at the back so all DOS limitation still applies such as it will ONLY operate properly when it is executed at the Desktop on latest OS... Tested working on XP to 8.1
As much info as possible then it'll be easy to identify where it goes wrong & did you bother to read 5 to 10 pages from the back then you would have know what is the latest story...
Last but not least, i didn't compile CTR so any features not working / bugs found pls report it here BUT again, read the whole thread first as most already answered at that thread...
Q&A
1) Touch not working, refer to here...
2) MTK Alcatel devices refer to here & here... Supported on CTRv2.4
3) All MTK devices supported except this...
4) Inverted screen solutions -> Compile your own
5) CTRv2.5
Nice one bro.....will be helpful for many.......!!:good:
Good to see you back......!
--------------------
P.S: Thinking of creating a Multi-tool for MTK6573.......what are features that can be added bro ??
Yo, Bala bro, been quite busy with work, until now only manage to finish this tut...
Yeah, i was thinking about that too, to mod dsixda's android kitchen just for MT6573 platform that includes Bruno Martins's unpack/ repack boot.img, unpack/ repack recovery & port it to CWMR like this tut, replace a2sd with data2ext or ad2sdx; only this two mod stable on MT6573 platform so far that i have tested...
actually did try but give up half way as my scripting skill is still at novice level...
did read it on some other forum that someone is actually doing that too but i never see it got release though...
Well i guess we need dsixda expertise to be able to do that but he is retired now...
Added on Sept 04, 2012 Info Update
Dark Tremor's a2sd/ Apps2sd works well on MT6573 platform after all...
i was using the last version 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 all this while & i always use a2sd datasd all the time & it FC all apps after a few weeks of using/ sometimes a few days even after a fresh install...
After all, DT_a2sd/ apps2sd is actually apps to sd & i always push it as data2sd...
Only until recently that i play with Android Kitchen, use it to extract my system.img & update it with its built-in Darktremor Apps2SD version 2.7.5.2, it works extremely well because 2.7.5.2 doesn't support a2sd datasd feature...
So guys, if you are using DT_a2sd beta 4, don't use the command a2sd data2sd instead use a2sd cachesd...

hello y2yu,
Glad you find it informative...
According to this site, there will be another 2 new cpu after MT6575/ MT6577... (use google chrome for translation)
This means MT6573 is 5 generation behind MT6588 & it is still unexploit with all info/ tools scattered all over the web...
Thats where i decided to compile all these info & put it here... :good:
Now that i check, i've bought my first mediatek back in 2008...( never knew it until i check it just now ) :silly: It has serve me well for almost 2 years in spite of dropping, a few times from 8 feet height when i was on a ladder & it still works ! It was the last drop that spoilt the mic & render it unuseful. It can still make & receive call to date but the other side can't hear what i say...
At that time, made in china phone was famous for its extra loud speaker/ ringtone but doesn't support android back then...
haha, enough of history, have you manage to port CWMR to your MT6573 ? In fact, i have manage to create a plugin for dsixda's Android Kitchen which can port CWMR to any MT6573 with a few copy & paste features just like Android Kitchen... :good:
Still testing it, may be you would like to be the first beta tester...
Thank you so much for this. I managed to "port" cwmr to my phone without going through the build hassle. Thanks also go to koush for the builder. I had downloaded the source but hadn't managed to completely set up my build environment as there are a couple of gotchas to iron out for ROM development.
Anyway, this serves as a good precursor to actually porting a custom recovery to new devices. Just one problem - cwmr does not recognise any of the hardware buttons for the select action. I can only scroll. The phone has 2 side buttons for volume control, 1 power button on top, and at the bottom on the home row there is a home button, the menu (these 2 also scroll, in stock recovery the home button selects), the previous, and the search. [1][2]
Do you happen to have any cure for this? Is there some place I could remap hardware buttons? One more thing. I made sure root shell access was configured but adb shell will not work (insufficient permissions). Also, adb devices, as is the case for stock recovery, will return question marks. Any idea?
edit: It is important to mention that the flashing had some errors:
Code:
/mnt/sdcard # flash_image recovery recovery.img
mtd: read error at 0x00000000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00020000 (Out of memory)

The flash of the stock recovery goes without any error.

u r most welcome, jason...
i think the button key map is actually built inside /sbin/recovery so there is nothing much you can do about it unless you build the whole recovery from sources & change it from there...
i do have feedback from fellow xda member that has the same problem flashing recovery with error however he reported back, all menu options at cwm works fine...why don't you use mobileuncle tools, its easier that way...found another flashing tool for ZTE, reported unknown image but it works fine on MT6573 platform too...
As for the adb shell at cwmr, it should work by default & if it doesn't then you have the check default.prop & make sure ro.secure=0 As for stock recovery, mine doesn't work at all...
i think after 6.0.0.3 version, ported cwmr has the camera button as enter key for MT6573 if you built it from koush builder...

Crap, then I have to dig through the sources really hard. This phone has no camera button.
If I'm not wrong the last time I checked "mobileuncletools" uses flash_image. Either that, or nandwrite, or failing that, dd. Coming from a Linux and UNIX background I'm more comfortable with the simpler underlying commands rather than a complex front-end wrapper around those commands. NAND images have some peculiarities so we kinda have to deal with it I guess.
I had triple-checked that ro.secure != 1 I think this is probably a hardware issue where during recovery there is no bridging interface exposed.
Anyway a couple of other things related to the documentation side of this:
* Why not just upload your own recovery.fstab to the builder instead of editing it later?
* Changing the fstab is only needed for those who have an ext-sd, i.e. a second partition for the memory card
* The bin/ folder is empty, and the lib/ folder only contains the ext2 module, so if above not needed, this is also not needed
So in the end, I think we can simply advocate use of the builder as-is. What do you think of putting up a list/database of MTK phones and some details? Like rootable or not, cwmr available or not, etc. I think RootzWiki would be a good place for that?
AFAIK, most readers at xda are non-registered, only when they are stuck somewhere or they really needed help then only they'll register & start posting; that is including me !
You can see my other post where it is nearing to 300 over downloads while the MTK phones list feedback from users is less than 10 !
AFAIK, all MT6573 are root-able & all needs data2sd mod. There are so many apps & games at google play, MT6573's 256 or 512MB internal memory gets filled up pretty fast !
On adb shell, did you have all the three adb files (adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, AdbWinUsbApi.dll) & on linux, i use ./adb shell to get it to work...

Indeed. I actually want to try just bind-mounting data to a second partition, but I don't know whether init scripts are supported on this phone (would be better instead of editing the init itself). But I will also try this data2sd mod, haven't looked at it yet. After clearing out loads of preincluded apps I was happy for a while, but am now running out of space again!

Actually I have the Android SDK set up already on my system, so everything is conveniently there including adb. I will have to find some other day to troubleshoot why the bridge would not work during recovery.

I get the following when trying to repack:

Unpacking is no problem.
This Android Kitchen plugins only work with cygwin...
Even unpacking shouldn't have work because mkbootimg & 7z is windows exe...
i'm in the mid of modding it so that it can work on linux too...
Thanks for your reply yuweng. 7z is available as a plugin for Ubuntu too.
In the mean time I will try another website which I already posted a link before.

It will work on any GNU/Linux as long as you have the proper tools installed. Almost all tutorials for Android "modding" are Cygwin-based, which basically emulates a GNU system on Windows (so you can skip all parts about "setting up" anything). Here your file does not exist, please double-check that it does. This is a perl script which utilizes gzip, gunzip, and cpio. Make sure these are available as well.
Btw, this is independent of Android Kitchen. You don't need that if you're using the builder. Android Kitchen is just a front-end to modifying ROMs. So skip the Kitchen for now and do this manually.
Again, the "another website" you link to is about backing up real filesystems (which the boot and recovery partitions are not). See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744265&page=2
yuweng: What benefit does using the Android Kitchen have over simply using the builder? All you need is a rebuilt /sbin/recovery along with the resources in /res, and optionally an ext2.ko if it does not exist on the phone itself.
This is just a simple tool for n00b/ newbie...
i was a n00b six months ago & even now my android knowledge is still half empty...
As the first post says, there are hundreds if not thousands of android phone based on MT6573 SoC design, each with their own recovery.img-kernel.img & AFAIK, non is compatible for use on others...
i simply provided a plugins based on Android Kitchen so that even a n00b/ newbie can port cwmr to their MT6573 simply by just drag & drop files to it... You are a programmer by profession i presume, so this is chicken feet to you but to a n00b/ newbie they don't no even where to start, like i did...
you'll be surprise if i tell you the top download of my tuts is rooting & installing busybox !
As for the builder, you still need to unpack it, copy few files over & repack it with bgcngm's MTK-tools for it to work on MT6573...not alot of n00b/ newbie know how to do that !
the intention of this plugins is to be able to port cwmr to any mt6573 based android phone...

yuweng, and I thought you were the programmer! (other than bgcngm I see you as our local MTK expert)
Seriously, we are all noobs. That was my main concern :silly: Android Kitchen interface is command-based whereas the builder you just need to upload an image and you will get an image in return.
So do you mean using Android Kitchen there is no need to go through setting up Cygwin, repack, unpack, etc.? Just download the Kitchen, enter some commands, and you will have a recovery.img which you can flash directly?
i'm a half-cook programmer...
yaya, but you need to setup java, Android Kitchen & the plugins scripts will do everything... That is for linux...For windows, you already know...
As for the builder, it works on major brands where it can be flash directly but not on mt65xx...
Ahh OK in that case I do suppose the Kitchen would be much simpler.
Ya, the MTK partitions and images are not the same as those of other devices. That's why Bruno wrote the script to help us

Hi Jason,
I have cpio and can execute perl scripts. gzip and gunzip are setup too. The script just cannot find the file ramdisk-repack.cpio.gz and I cannot find it anywhere.
Maybe the dump of the recovery.img was not good. I will try again.
*UPDATE*
The mkbootimg executabe I download was not correctly installed. Now the script finishes without error.
However the recovery.img doesn't do anything. I think I have to look for another mkbootimg or compile one from source myself...
For people who are interested to try the Ubuntu way:
Unpacking:
sudo perl ./unpack-MT65xx.pl recovery.img
Re-packing:
sudo perl ./repack-MT65xx.pl -recovery ./recovery.img-kernel.img ./recovery.img-ramdisk ./recovery.img
I will attach the mkbootimg once I succeed

Hi All, thought I'd put this here for anyone having trouble with this device.
had it a few weeks, accidentally let the battery drain.
Charged it up tried to boot, but unfortunately it was stuck in a boot loop.
Kogan support didnt even get back to me,
in order to solve, I followed the eken a90 steps to recover:
futeko.com/navpage/support.php#ekena90
(same device rebranded)
hope that helps someone out there having the same issues.
I also tried a number of different firmwares with little succes - touchscreen refuses to work ie:

Guessing at this stage you haven't herd back from Kogan?
I killed boot but have managed to install a October 2012 dated firmware to it via LiveSuite.exe. The only problem I have found is the wifi wont turn on. I'm going to try the version on the site you posted tonight.
I've just sent a request through asking for a link to their Kogan branded firmware. Doesn't really matter but I may want to revert back at some stage.
Have you had any success with Cyanogen MOD? I'm going to have a go at installing it tonight but not sure what recovery to go for.
Cheers,
Brian
I am in need of a stock firmware, a backup rom or a good compatibility patch that works with cm9 or cm10 that has working wifi.
Kogan's reply to my email.was that they did not have access to the original firmware. Less than helpful and it took 2 weeks to get that answer.
Kogan Agora 10" tablet
I've had the same issue with my Kogan Agora 10" tablet - had a boot-loop issue and followed the above instructions to flash my tablet.
The flashing worked fine and the tablet is up and running again, but, the wireless will not turn on. (like the issue stated above).
I'm wondering how you got on... did you find a way to get the wireless to turn on?
Is there a newer flash version or a patch that gets the wireless going?
I'd really appreciate some help with this (thanks for the help so far ... got the tablet up and going)
Chrys
I've got one of these too - the 16GB version (KATBL10A16DA)
I have attempted to flash clockworkmod recovery to the device without success (Says the update installed OK, but it always boots to the standard recovery).
At the moment I just want to get it rooted - not so concerned about a new ROM at the moment. The stock one is not all that bad.
Mine seems to be missing the english dictionary, so I need access to the system folder to put one in.
hybiepoo
I have used Tasselhof root script for AllWinnerA10 perfectly for rooting, dont use super one click it wont root properly. As for clockworkmod I had the same problem, this was solved after i rooted the tablet first ( not sure if it needs to be rooted first but it worked )
If you could take a backup with clockworkmod after it is all setup and post a link that would be awsome as my tablet had the bootloop issue before i could make my backup and now im without wifi which sucks and kogan will not give a firmware link.
hope all this helps
Thanks wvusrj, that root worked fine after adding the drivers.
Now my dictionary is also fixed after using the files in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498006
Clockwork mod is still showing an unsupported device. Did you manually install clockwork recovery or do it through the app?
If you installed manually, did you use it from an A10 device, same as the root thing, or some other way?
For Clockwork mod you will have to install it through the original recovery. Look for cwm_recovery_6.0.1.2_a10.zip or cwm-20120615.zip. I can not remember the exact process but this should get you started in the right direction. You wont be able to install it from in the android os it has to be in the original recovery.[/I][/I]
Ok, I could not get the recovery to install using quite a few methods, and I could not get a dump of my recovery image either, just in case I broke something.
I managed to manually install a recovery image and back up my own first, but now my device won't boot. I just see the android mascot in the middle of the screen and it goes no further.
The strange thing is - I did manage to get it into the new recovery once, but after rebooting it now seems busted.
This is what I did. You need root access.
To backup my boot and recovery partitions:
- Using either a terminal emulator, or adb shell: cat /cache/recovery/last_log
Look for a list of partitions, something like this:
Code:
recovery filesystem table
=========================
0 /tmp ramdisk (null) (null) 0
1 /boot emmc /dev/block/nandc (null) 0
2 /system ext4 /dev/block/nandd (null) 0
3 /data ext4 /dev/block/nande (null) 0
4 /misc emmc /dev/block/nandf (null) 0
5 /recovery ext4 /dev/block/nandg (null) 0
6 /cache ext4 /dev/block/nandh (null) 0
7 /sdcard vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /dev/block/nandj 0
To backup recovery and boot to your sd card:
dd if=/dev/block/nandg of=/sdcard/recovery.img
dd if=/dev/block/nandc of=/sdcard/boot.img
I won't post how I flashed recovery yet unless I can fix my issues.
Ok, so something I did stopped the device from booting into recovery, or the OS.
Unfortunately, I had to flash the software from the EKEN website, which means I don't have the original ROM any more either.
Wifi won't turn on for me either - obviously it needs a different driver. Pretty useless tablet now isn't it? :/
Right. I have managed to get a recovery working.
Please use cwm-20120615.zip.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ce36p1z4ofpevn/cwm-20120615.zip
Unzip the recovery image, and copy recovery.img to your internal or external sd card.
Start adb.exe
A link to a working adb for our devices is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/22oqm507i...ild.Prop,_&_Tweaks_Script_-_AllWinner_A10.rar
Extract it, open a cmd prompt in the extracted dir.
If you used external sd, use the following command:
Code:
cat /mnt/extsd/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg
If you used internal sd, use the following command:
Code:
cat /sdcard/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg
Once the image is uploaded, we need to boot to recovery.
Code:
adb shell "echo -n boot-recovery | busybox dd of=/dev/block/nandf count=1 conv=sync; sync; reboot"
Once it's booted into recovery, use the volume buttons to move down to backup and restore.
Use the power button to select the backup option.
After you have backed up, zip the contents of the backup, and put it on a dropbox somewhere so those of us that have lost the Kogan firmware can try a restore
NOTE:
You may want to do a backup first, then copy the backup to your PC.
Restore to factory defaults so none of your personal stuff is in the backup that you put online.
Then you can restore your original backup afterwards.

If somebody on a stock ROM could also run the following command in ADB, that would be handy for us to work out what's missing for the wireless device.
Code:
adb shell lsmod
This will list the modules (drivers) currently loaded.
Here is the output from the ROM I'm using:

I have installed CM10 to my device and then installed the 907c_compatability_1.2.0.zip patch.
The patch got the touch screen working, but I still can't turn on WIFI.
On top of this, there is also an SD card issue that I need to resolve.
I'm sure WIFI would be fixed by adding one of the other zips... just need to work out which one.
This is what I see when I try to enable wifi.

Not sure if it means we're using the wrong driver or what.... if we can get someone to run the lsmod on the original firmware, we should be able to see which hardware it's using.
I must have tried a dozen ROMs now... none of them will allow me to enable wifi.
Final update for tonight.
I definitely believe this is a driver issue. Most of these clone tablets (there are heaps of them) seem to use the realtek 8188 range of devices, and those drivers are included in all the ROMs. This one does not use a realtek.
This is the chip that we need to identify:

Finally some good news. I've found a ROM that works.
It's currently uploading to my dropbox at home, so I'll post a link this afternoon.
Now we might be able to work out which drivers are required, and get them included in the CM9 and/or the CM10 ROMs.
Damn there is an issue with this ROM too. Changes are not saved during reboot for some reason.
It might be an issue with partitions - it might be writing changes to a partition that is wiped every boot.
Anyway, I'm going to try and get some drivers included in one of the CM ROMs.
Ok, this ROM is not perfect either. It resets after every reboot, so no changes are saved. Must be an issue with partitions I think.
At least it contains the right drivers. Feel free to test with it.

Same as on mine. Imagine this would be the same with all Kogan devices. Would be good to find another clone for their image.

I'll give this a try tonight if I have a spare few minutes.
Cheers for sharing.
I also did a bit of serching based on the revision of the board.
I found this Kraun KT.A1
I have also read a forum talking about another version of the tablet posting and someone having the same issues with CM10 that we have.
Soo... The firmware posted on the site linked may bring wifi back. As long as it has English.. This is a Italian release tablet.
Ok, re-imaging without format seems to have fixed it, and all my changes are there. Weird.
I have a feeling that when I installed busybox it screwed with the storage.
So at least we have a ROM that works!

If you can help in development - please, write here.
This is very nice! Its certainly a good start.
There are definitely changes between your implementation and Jay's build. It would seem that after reviewing your source code that the major difference is your overall system config and choice of location of rootfs.
The kernels aren't too too different.
you are using noop vs cfq which is understandable since you are using the stock kernel vs CM10
you incorporated less debugging vs debugging (agree with your preference)
you incorporated framebuffer vs no fb
you incorporated zram vs no zram (smart move to help chromium)
your enhancements are much better IMHO.
You are not utilizing the linux for Tegra drivers. I think we could benefit by utilizing the latest version at least for sound. After reviewing the documentation and reviewing the drivers themselves I think we should integrate. That is unless you are trying to have two separate kernels instead of a monolithic kernel that can boot android and linux kind of like "Ubuntu for Android"
Since I have a working nvflash'd tf700 I am working on a dualboot kexec.
I still prefer the monolithic kernel approach for Android and Linux concept though, and make selection during boot as to which environment to go to. Essentially, it is possible to boot the kernel and run a specific environment and end that environment and switch to another environment.
As others have suggested I think we should integrate both into 1 tree and also try to get the tf300 on board because other than their kernel, specific tf700 configs/rules the rest of the rootfs and other portions should be identical.

You mean - HW sound? I have integrated drivers, because I use modified nexus7 rootfs. Maybe, I wrong...
Also, integration of kernels is too difficult task for me now...

I also have nvflash by wheele, but for users preparing device for this - is too difficult. Now I already prepared dualboot with same kernel through initrd menu. In 0.6.0 I will release it. I have some problems with integrated cameras, but wifi is now works in android.
I think we have some problems with non-JB androids with this dualboot... But it is simple.

Applying to tf300 - is good idea. It's a part of integration all tegra3 devices in same Ubuntu installation for pads.

I am more than willing to try, but how can I dualboot that first build ? If you provide a few step by step instructions, I am sure a lot of people will try which will help the development by giving several feedbacks.
I am currently on Clean Rom Inheritance (= CROMI) 2.7.2 which is the latest update in the Clean Rom series. Since you are using 2.4, I guess the steps woul be exactly the same as for you. I am however using Clemsyn kernel. Is the stock kernel required to be able to dual boot ?
One the OP, Ubuntu seems tobe pretty stable since a lot of features ar working. Is that really the case ? Is compiz already something I could consider using at this point of the developpment or is it still a little bit early ?
I am really interested in this project and I thank you a million time for starting actively a development allowing us to dualboot Ubuntu. Keep up you awesome work !!!

Thanks for your support)) I think, you could use users general thread for test boot steps. The steps are the same, but with the current rootfs (0.5.0) linux in dualboot may not start. Android with CleanRom should work. Soon I will release a rootfs 0.6, which can be used with dualboot section.

Hi
How is it going with the developpment? Is the dualboot working nice with Ubuntu now?
Do you think a cube desktop will ever be usable on a dualbooted Ubuntu on our device?
Thanks for the good work
Hello, I have managed to get this booting on my tf300t tablet. It is working alright and I would like to learn a bit about this area of development so I can tweak it to get it working as well as contribute to the project as a whole. So far it has bugs with wifi, bluetooth, and sound. Also, when I select shutdown from the ubuntu menu, it corrupts the image and it will boot to lightdm and then freeze. I tried compiling a kernel for it based on a tweaked tf700t 10.4.4.20 kernel that was patched by untermensch to work for the tf300t but it did not solve any issues, it pretty much performed the same. I wanted infrom everyone of the issues on the tf300t as well as ask for some guidance as to documentation for what steps I can take to fix these issues. Thanks.

It seems that this is the rootfs problem. Maybe you find some info in tf300 forum or ubuntu forums, but you need try to read log files and, maybe, do hard gdb trace.

Your dummy signblob header is one byte too long - there is a 0a byte before "MSM-RADIO-UPDATE" that should not be there.

Successfully flashed via fastboot and it booted my Android (still the old CleanROM 2.3) fine. The initrd menu and framebuffer console is awesome. Can't try your rootfs right now because my PC cardreader is making trouble (I hate SD cards and readers, they are unreliable sh**, or they hate me).
Only everything is very tiny (160 dpi instead of 240), and adding ro.sf.lcd_density=240 to /system/build.prop did not help. I'll have to add it to the initrd and see if it helps. Strange, because I thought newer CleanROMs also set the dpi via /system/build.prop, but who knows. Eventually I should install CRI 3.0 anyway.
Hm, while I was writing this, the TF700 spontanously rebooted... looks like problems turning off the screen. /proc/last_kmsg contained two WARNINGs with stack trace, both containing do_blank_screen (drivers/tty/vt/vt.c:3728 and vt.c:650)
I just read that this is Clemsyn's kernel - where did you find the sources for the current version and what did you modify? There are so many different binaries in that thread and so few source drops that I totally lost track.
Hi
I've just seen the cube desktop is know supported on 0.6.2. How is it performing ? Is the latest version smoother than 0.5 ?
Thanks for the great work!!! I hope our tabs will soon have a stable and smooth Ubuntu dualbootable with CROMI

You can find info about kernel here and here. I'm used this source from second link to build 0.6.2 kernel.

I just installed extra plugins))) Currently Nexus7 is more smoothed then tf700 with unity... Cube is rotating ok, but with IO lags - sd speed so slow.
Currently I working on more basic things, like install linux in main flash drive. If you have any ideas - please, post it here.
Hi everyone,
I've been working on getting ArchLinuxArm running on the TF300 over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918849
Just something that might help with your touchscreen - you should be able to get basic functionality if you use the xf86-input-mtev driver (see https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xf86-input-mtev-meego/ )
While less than ideal, it's better than nothing. We have the same issue with X segfaulting when the evdev driver is used. I actually looked into that, and it has to do with the way events are reported by the kernel driver, if I remember correctly.

- Tegra drivers
- Hotkeys - Use shift+ Hotkey
- Media hotkeys work for VLC use ALT + Hotkey
- Vol keys (rockers) on the side
- OSK on boot for login - You need to press the button next to shutdown to get it to come up.. click twice.
- Sound - but cuts out on some mp3s and will not come back until the tab is fully powered down and back up (not just restart)
- Touchegg
- Bluetooth
- Firefox Youtube (HTML5), VLC video play back (as seen in the youtube in post two) -- This may not work.. BUT!!!!!!!! copy the youtube link to VLC and play it..... It works much better!
- HDMI
- Web / Video camera via USB Logitech C110
--------MODULES addins for kernel .10.12 only
- USB DVD PlayBack works with VLC

THIS NEEDS TO BE UPDATED... OLD
How to change things in this build Post #157
Problems: (in order of what makes me angry)
- Icon theme RED Icon network manager-- Fix here (sorry)
- SD card will not auto mount, delete key will not work - Fixes here: POST 268
- Sound .. Is buggy and crashes .. May need new driver or patch for alsa.. Needs to be fixed..
- Mic does not pickup audio
- GPS
- Cam (both)
- tilt sensors
- Maybe 3G internet.. I don't have a TF101G to test that it works.
--- I am working on the sound issues with kernel modules..
FIXED Problems in this build:
- Sound headphones does not kill speakers sound (they both play) - see workarounds
- VLC crashes when playing mp3s.. use gnome-mplayer for now
- Keyboard: Bluetooth hotkey.. I have the code but didn't add it to disable bluetooth, auto brightness hotkey
- ZRAM -- see post #166
- adduser /sbin commands don't work.. run this: export PATH=$PATH:/sbin:/usr/sbin
If you know of more bugs let me know..
Workarounds:
Firefox can be slow.. Install "no script" plugin.. then its heaps better
Keyboard and mouse can stop if the battery is getting low.. Just redock
- Sound headphones does not stop the speakers playing sound - Use alsamixer on command line and press M on the one you want to mute
- If the sound does not work at all..Run alsamixer and toggle DRC (m button)
What can I do with this that I can't do with Android?
USB printing
Full Desktop and mouse etc..
Crack wifi
Use a second screen.. not as a clone - via HDMI
DVD burning
DVD playback
Lubuntu / ubuntu apps

Fixes from other builds:
- System does not fully turn off the sreen / keyboard so it can always be woken up from keyboard press - this can be changed from power manager
- Auto usb mount
- Cheap usb network adaptors driver installed dm9601
- Play, Next and back hot keys talk directly with gnome-mplayer.. So play your mp3s with that
- Audio controls (hotkeys) on have been mapped to turn down both the headphones and speakers.. at the same time .. As the mixer does not have a "master" control. (see problem / workarounds)

Mini 12.04.4 LTS ::: Ubuntu Core with LXDE armhf
No Frills! .. Nothing really installed at all.. Add what you want Minimal install
-Super small 320mb unpacked - 160mb packed
-Very light on ram (160Used on startup)
-Tegra drivers installed & working
-Wifi works
-HDMI works
-Video playback + Youtube HTML5 works
Not tested / note included: Bluetooth, Hotkeys (scripts are present).. to turn down brightness open new terminal and type brightnessdown
NOTE:
This build maybe very annoying for some people.... It does not include the normal Lubuntu things.. It also does not include Firefox or VLC by default (to save space).. It has just about nothing // People who want a full desktop can wait until I build a full Lubuntu ones with drivers next week sometime
Also usb needs to be manually mounted..
All the above can be installed by using your normally apt-get install firefox vlc ..etc!

Ok here we go:
User: tf101
Password is: ubuntu
-please change this for your own piece of mind
HOW TO:
In Android..
Rename your current linuxroot if you have one using mv
Download and unpack into /data/linuxroot
Comannds:
Code:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /
--Rename old Linuxroot
mv /data/linuxroot /data/linuxroot-old
mkdir /data/linuxroot
chmod 755 /data/linuxroot
cd /data/linuxroot
tar -pxvzf /pathto/tf101-14.04-xubuntu-armhf.tar.gz
busybox mount -o remount,ro /
(This will take bloody ages maybe 40mins+ ... Go have a few coffees) - its faster if your going from micro SD
Reboot and you should be away
If you have any issues just delete /data/linuxroot and mv your old one back
The first time it maybe a bit slow to get going... Just wait... You maybe need to start without dock attached
-second boot should be better..
Problems:
Mine always loads with root file system needs to be checked.. Can get past it by pressing i ... I tried scanning it with the tools in this thread.. But no love for me.. I tired also formatting /data still coming up
As this is a 14.04 build it can't include the nvidia drivers.. So that's not so fun... I am planning to build a 12.04.4 one soon ... Maybe someone has a solution ? Last time I tried to get it working I had to reinstall
Also HDMI does not work.. I am guessing because the nvidia drivers are not installed..
Brightness buttons.. See post 41 - for a hack
Its in the Australia time zone use this to fix for you:
sudo dpkg --configure tzdata
Maybe Audio maybe not work in some apps... I tired to fix up pulseaudio .. By removing it... Anyway audio is working for me with mplayer -ao alsa something.wav
your may need to run alsamixer and enable speaker (3rd tab along) press M to enable it
Performance notice while using firefox chrome etc.. Using ABP helps speed uploading time for pages and helps using pages... Otherwise your loading flashy, gifs other useless things that slow down your TAB
Workaround for the below:
Screen saver turns screen off - This is very annoying -- You can turn off the screen saver or wait for me to fix it
If it goes black and you can turn it back on do this: Pressing power button first (screen will go a little bright).... Then ctrl + alt (search) then f1 (the second key along the top) .. Then alt+ Ctrl and f7 -- And then screen will be back........
see page 2 post 1 for fix for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50399357&postcount=1
I have some code I am working on to get the power bind to do what we just did - will have a fix that can be easily applied
If anyone wants to have a look:

... Yes I know I am not using git right

Nice I think you can rename your thread to be more general and add more img ? What do you think ?
( I mean like a img repository for rootbind kernel )
I'll try to do a img with different DE and things.
Thanks for your work anyway, really appreciated !
BTW, x3maniac, if you read this, glad to see you again around here
For our discussion about 13.10 and 12.04, I think I'll make a 13.10 then, like this we got plenty of choice Nvidia driver are supported until 13.10, and not supported anymore since 14.04

@Kingzak34 Good idea! .. OK so I have renamed it now.. let me know what you think.. If you can thank of a better name.. Just paste it and I will change it
OK didn't know about the support up until 13.10.. I was never able to get it to work past 12.10.. Maybe I am doing something wrong.. I was looking and your thread about installing the drivers.. Or is it better just to do it via the software centre?
Somehow I magically fixed the libgl.... Its even fixed in the tar.gz that I uploaded .... Don't know how I did that.. But now I can run Midori (browser).. Faster then FF on the tablets and lighter
I am going to be building more from Monday.. I want to get more fixed with this image (I think it can start quicker and fix some of the errors in syslog)
And I want to fully remove pulseaudio and get ALSA working by default .. Currently in the img.. Audioapps are trying to load to pulseaudio... Even when its full removed.... NFI why that is happening.. anyway more fun time fixing
Oh and the screen fixes for idle .. never turn the screen off correctly
re x3maniac he PMed me a few times today! He working on a another kernel ... But he does not have much free time so its likely going to be a long process .. Anyway this kernal appears to be working fine for me..

For 13.10, the better way to get nvidia driver is through software center I think. But you maybe right, maybe 12.04 as LTS version can be better, I'll try too.
Anyway, thanks for your work, I'll try to do some too, when I'll got more free time

For whatever reason I could not get the 12.04 core to upgrade to 12.04.4 .. My next plan to to use the pre installed desktop image and roll the 12.04.4 over the top and see how much it breaks .... Then it will be current LTS with support for a little while longer.... If they fixed (didn't drop nivida support) in 14.04 it would be perfect

Yeah I was looking at a fix for that last night... Anyway you can get around it by pressing power button first.... Then alt + Ctrl f1 (the second key along the top) .. Then alt+ Ctrl and f7

The ability to install nvidia drivers depends on whether nvidia will release the appropriate versions. It depends on the Xorg video abi, which has to match the version that is installed on your system. (Ubuntu 13.10 is abi-14, 14.04 is abi-15). Abi-14 has been released so there is an nvidia-tegra package in Ubuntu 13.10. It remains to be seen whether nvidia will release the abi-15 driver for ventana (tegra2 cpus). Even if Ubuntu does not provide the package you can still download the driver from Nvidia directly and install it yourself.

(Read at the bottom - Additional software).
I would revisit this page once 14.04 has been "officially released" and if nvidia provides the binary driver for abi-15 then that should be no problem.
I don't think they will as stated in 16.3 changelog ventana driver will not be updated in future release
R16.3
Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse Support
U-Boot is officially supported
This is the final release supporting Ventana. T20 support will not be included in future releases.

Sure, but they have updated the abi-14 support for 16.3 after its release (see Additional Software), this is not a new release of the drivers, it is just providing updated xorg abi support. So that may well happen for abi-15 as well.

Black screen hack
...After lots of googling and head banging I managed to get a fix for the black screen... Its a hell of a hack.. But for now I am running with it..
So what is happening when the screen goes black is the keyboard and touchpad stop responding (don't think I can fix that)
So we use the power button soft press to get the screen back, but it still stays black... (little bit of brightness can be seen after pressing) - After that the keyboard and touchpad work.. OK good... so then we use ALT CTRL F1 then back to F7.. yah back to it.. But thats too much pressing in my mind.. So I have got this below commands to so that work..
Some other background to this.. Lubuntu and use another config to bind commands so its a little easier but Xubuntu uses xfce what is harder
SO you don't have to wait for your screensaver you can use this to test:
xset dpms force off
---Steps
sudo apt-get install xbinekeys
xbindkeys --defaults > /home/tf101/.xbindkeysrc
vim /home/tf101/.xbindkeysrc
Add the below to the file just below line 51 or just below this: control + b:2
Code:
# turn screen back on agian
"/usr/bin/turnscreenon"
m:0x0 + c:124
Then:
sudo vim /usr/bin/turnscreenon
Code:
echo "ubuntu" | sudo -S chvt 1
wait 1190
echo "ubuntu" | sudo -S chvt 7
sudo chmod a+x /usr/bin/turnscreenon
I also needed to remove all the commands on line 124 in this file and log out and back in
vim .Xmodmap
-----
There must be a better way of doing this.. As this requires your user password ... to run SUDO..
I sure there is a clean way of getting around the blackscreen bug.. But I can't get it fixed with my skill set so this workaround I am sticking with for now...
I'm just starting trying your IMG, will give you some feedback when I can

It appears that ubuntu tired doing this already from what I can see..

reports that the package was removed as of: 2014-02-05.

doesn't work with new xorg abis, requested by mlankhorst
The ABI version for 14.04 is abi15 what means the debs are missing for the install.. I have forced installed packages like this in the past and it fails to start xorg after
This package should work for everything apart from 14.04
@MiniBlu for the info! (he can't post here yet)
I had word that Nvidia will stop dev on anything older then E3 for linux
@Kingzak34 Let me know how you go! .. The blackscreen bug was really eating away at me .. But now I have at least a workaround I am much happier

The abi15 drivers have also not yet been released for the latest Linux for Tegra R17.1 from Nvidia (which only supports Tegra4 devices). So I would not write this off completely yet. If they release them for 17.1 but not for 16.3 then that would be the final nail in the coffin I guess...
