This .zip includes all the .apks and libraries required to use the new camera app, including all features. This means you can finally share your photospheres to Google Maps!
It includes a patched version of the app that does not require you to edit your build.prop and therefor any Jelly Bean device should have no problem running the new camera. It includes the updated Maps and Google+ apps in order to allow for sharing your photospheres.
~~This camera is a different package the the existing Jelly Bean camera and will not overwrite your existing camera. You will see two camera apps and two gallery apps listed after the install~~
Features that work:
Take photos, panoramas, photospheres and video (some devices apparently unstable using video)
Filters and editing in the new Gallery
share photospheres to Google Maps
share photospheres to Google+

EDIT: To all those having issues with this, make sure to wipe your cache and your dalvik cache before flashing it.
Working with ginger or ics above??
HTC Salsa with Unofficial CM7
installed this on my Galaxy S2 SlimICS rom. installation was fine, no errors. after reboot, there weren't any new camera icon or gallery.
To answer both of you, it's only tested as working on Jelly Bean. It's possible that it'll work on ICS but I doubt anything lower than that.
I have to remove the other one or overwrite it?
thanks

No, you don't need to remove anything else. If you've already got the 4.2 camera installed then this will just overwrite it with the patched version.
Awesome, thanks for this! I can confirm that it does indeed work on ICS. I'm looking forward to trying my first Photosphere uploaded this weekend.

Unless it's hiding in the menu somewhere, then no. Sadly.

What ROM and version are you running? Will it run if you open the camera app?

Thanks, will try today on ICS
Works fine on 4.0.4 and 4.1 on T-mobile SGS3, stock touchwiz, rooted
Share to map app and Google+ works great.
Thanks
Edit: ICS had normal issues, camera flash and video record buggy, edits fc. JB everything works.

It already has Google+. Is it not working on your device?
Flashed this and it replaced the gallery and camera apk's. Rootbox 4.1.2 is the ROM. Not impressed.
I have AOKP with Android 4.0.4 and when i open the camera It says that the gallery stop working (FC) But the gallery app work fine

4.0.0 AOKP on the GT-I9001? Hrm, I have a friend running CM10 on a GT-I9001 and for him everything but the camcorder feature works.
You are seeing two gallery and two camera apps, correct? The camera app and the gallery app are technically a single application so that FC message you're getting is referring to the 4.2 Gallery and not your stock Gallery.

I've never seen this on any other device. The .apk and package names are not the same. I've flashed it on all my devices and none of them have displayed that effect. I have no devices running that ROM so I've no way of testing that effect, I'd say if everything on the new camera works then you're fune, otherwise just roll back to your last backup.
I've personally confirmed this package as working on stock Jelly Bean and CM10, others have confirmed it working on various stock and AOKP ROMs but it's still a little random which ROMs/devices work and which don't.

I have the same problem on Galaxy W (CM9 beta3)
Hi people,
I have using the custom roms with my P3110 for a long time with JB, but with the iminence of the now released stock rom from Samsung I roll back to stock 4.0.4 version last week and will update to take a look. One think I like with 4.0.4 camera is the absent of video timelapse function. Will this new 4.1 version come with? Does some one already have tested?
You people with 3113 or 3100 and Jelly Bean can confirm that?
Thank You
Kfir-br
I just updated to JB 4.1.1 Samsung Stock ROM. The camera app is essentially the same
I am trying now to install the 4.1.1 camera application and for that I am going to install the Gallery2.apk. The new Gallery and Camera app shows up but such what occurs when trying to use the 4.2 cam app with 4.1.2 the camera app FC just after load. I guess that framework part could be the same, but not... Tried to clean cache and data no success.
Something I am missing?
I think i made a huge mistake I tried to flash Galaxy note 2 camera and gallery and it crashed my camera and gallery app. Does anyone have a flashable (zip) file of stock jelly bean 4.1.1 Camera and Gallery so I can reinstall my file. Thank you in advance!!!!
Im running Stock rooted Jelly Bean (Verizon Sch-I535)

Hello Guys . I'm here because I love the 4.1.2 Avatar ROM but when I flashed the 4.2 Gapps Everything worked with no problems but the Camera App . So my question is ... is there a Fix for the 4.2 Camera app or is there a way I can flash the 4.1+ Camera apk back on this rom .. or other ROMs .. cause none of the camera apk works with the 4.2 Gapps..

I rooted my Nexus S yesterday and install CyanogenMod 10 stable latest gapps-jb-20121011 for CM10 from goo.im. Everything runs smoothly I only miss the fact that my Picasa albums are not getting synced. I know this has to do with the right version of the gallery.apk that needs to get installed.
Anybody any tips on how to get that gallery.apk?
Thanks
Odp: [Q] How to enable photo/picasa syncing of gallery
as far as I know to enable Picasa You need gallery with photosphere. you'll find modified gallery.apk here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33544546&postcount=33 this should work fine

Does this also work if you have CM 10.0 (Android 4.1) as photosphere is an Android 4.2 feature

Thanks. It works on CM10. Even I can take pictures in photosphere mode. Only problem is that I don't seem to be able to view them, but as photosphere is not something I need I'm happy that at least the web albums sync again
UPDATE: photosphere also works on CM10. I guess 1st time something went wrong
