[Q] Screen brightness - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i just got this used from ebay. And i noticed the screen brightness changes a lot based off what its displaying. Is this a setting? Or normal behaviour? Or is the screen shot?
BTW i do have auto brightness turned OFF

Yes there is an option under "Asus customized settings" that changes the brightness according to the contents you are viewing, and it's enabled by default.
So try to disable that

I am most likely missing this, but whats it called? I noticed the brightness changes depending what power profile is selected. But i cant find how to make it stay constant.

It's near the bottom of the asus customised setting. Called something like smart brightness adjustment or some such ****e. Turn it off Smart it is not.

Ah gotchya. I'm actually sending this device back. Has a weird digitizer issue and there is a white spot on the screen when viewing dark images. Looks as if something heavy was set on it.
Buying one from new egg after I get refunded for 44 more dollars.

Remember it's a percentage, it's representative of the part of battery the screen consumes, for example if wi-fi consumes 2 times less of battery on a rom, the all others percentages in battery will increase to get a total of 100%. Sorry for my english, i hope you understood what i said.

Auto is off, brightness is down. Since my screen is a slcd, the backlight uses a lot of juice anyway.
I knew how slcd was more of a battery hog, but other than keeping the screen off, those are the only solutions I know of

This free app will lower your brightness beyond what the OS can achieve. But be glad your screen is the highest power consumer ... at least you know why it is high i.e. you're using your phone!

What i mean is the lowest brightness and highest brightness could be modify by some control file,
So I googled forum. some one said there is arrays.xml file in framework-res.apk . but i didn't find it.
Does it mean that 4.2.1 changed the way to control brightness. ?
problem 1: auto brightness is too bright at night and little weak at sunlight
problem 2: auto brightness take too much power
problem 3: turn auto brightness off , the lowest brightness is still too bright to reading at night
Give me a hand ! Thanks a lot!
Try screen adjuster. It's made to change the color mostly but will let you change brightness more as well. You can make the screen pretty dark. Can't speak to 4.2 but works on 4.1.2 and the app was updated in Sept as opposed to the beginning of last year.

You need to change the levels in the source then compile the full build to get framework modified. Lowest level was changed from 35 to 10 with ICS and in JB 4.1. Might be that they've put it back to 35 now.

Look up how to build Android from source, but I'm afraid from your questions that's a bit too much for you to do it.

Nexus 5 - vibration intensity ?

Hi all, never owned a nexus phone previously but just ordered from play N5 - coming from S4.
Just got a quick question... Is the vibration intensity adjustable on the N5 or even LG G2 like it is on my S4?
Thanks in advance

Hmmm... played around with it all night and can't find the Vibration intensity setting anywhere. There is also no settings for displaying battery percentage.
Looks like i may have been a bit spoiled with touch wiz.

Download a custom kernel that support it and install trickster on Google play to control it.
And there's a app call battery widget reborn that will show your a battery percent on the top left. This phone hasn't even been release a week yet.
Lol but no touch wiz did not spoiled you the nexus 5 support will suck you in if you like customizing your android.

For G2, yes the vibration intensity is adjustable. I'm waiting for N5 in the mail, but my N4 wasn't adjustible.
On the Nexus 5 the intensity isnt adjustable. On my Nexus 5 the vibration is really low...

the intensity is adjustable...at least for the haptic feedback when typing
I have a mushy annoying vibration when typing...especially when typing fast.
I did RMA my Phone and the new phone is allready on the way to me (still have the old one)
After i did RMA i found out that the haptic feedback is adjustable....i put it on 1ms for typing....now it is less annoying and feels kinda normal....but not as crisp as it should imho.
I will receive the new one tomorrow and will compare them......who knows how the new phone will be (dust, dead pixels).....if there is anything like that i´ll keep the old one....if i am allowed to...i heard google forces you to keep the new device....anybody knows that for sure?

Yes it is thanks to custom kernels like Franco or Faux.
vibration config on the playstore will sort you out!
It´s adjustable without custom kernel or any app...
just go to settings -->Language & Input
there you will find Google Keyboard and at the right of it there is a symbol (haven´t seen it for the first few days)
Push it and you will find an extra poined called "advanced settings"
There you can change the vibration feedback for typing

Wondering how the new one compared to the first one you bought? My vibration is also quite mushy (not crisp/sharp like my GNex nor the Moto X) and I'm wondering if I have a bad unit or if that is how the vibration was intended to be...

I don't think so, I did it before and I couldn't find anything, just root it. it's really easy.
by the way that APP works great.
Hi guys, is there any way I can increase vibration strength permanently by editing a file instead of using a root app? I tried doing what Vibration Config does by going into /sys/devices/virtual/timed_output/vibrator/amp and changing the value from 60 to 95, which works, but on a reboot it keeps changing back. Any idea how to keep it permanent? Thanks

It changes back because the kernel sets everything back to default, which is why kernel apps have a "set on boot" option. It also requires root access to be able to modify such values.
You can:
- compile a kernel yourself and change the default
- use a kernel app to set on boot
- use tasker to change the value on boot
- change it manually every time
An init.d file can do the job also.

Yeah forgot about that halfway through writing the post, but you also need support for init.d in kernel ramdisk.

High Brightness Mode Widget

Hello, I'm looking for testers for High Brightness Mode Widget: mod edit: link removed
have promo codes for the first five people to post here and willing to report back to me.
It will make your screen extremely bright at the touch of a button. However, it requires root.
Works on other Samsung devices with AMOLED screens, so it will probably work on the s7, but I need confirmation.
can test it if u want
got a G935F , Exynos Version
I can test. Pm me

Yes, it's really bright. I wouldn't use it indoors. It's for direct sun, or bright environments like beaches or snowy areas.

What do you mean? I've heard that there is some issue with brightness on Samsung but I don't know what it is.
I'm pretty sure this widget does something different than you think. It kicks the screen into a different hardware mode that is extremely bright. Much brighter than turning the brightness slider up all the way.

Question over Dark Theme.

When I apply it on my OP6
Every thing becomes dark as usual.
But when you go to places like
1. Settings - Apps - App permissions
Or
2. Settings - About Phone - status
There the screen is light themed/white background despite having a dark theme on.
Is it in your mobiles as well.
Also, the Shelf also remains with white background.
Help plz

u are correct, mine does the same, it also does on my 5T as well so its just something that was not themed

Anyone still use EasyEyes or other brightness control apps?

New OP7, read about the "adaptive brightness" setting, but so far I find the phone way too bright compared with my previous one.
On the old phone I used to have "EasyEyes" installed to add that red filter, wondering if that's something that is no longer useful now (has that been incorporated in Android Pie?), or are you guys still using these types of programs?
Hoping to find the most restful setup for the eyes!

Night mode (red filter) is built into OOS under Display Settings.
Thanks for that — that's news to me.
In your opinion, does that work well? (Well enough to stop using something like EasyEyes?)
