apps safe to remove - Motorola Atrix 2

can i remove some apps and att bloatware from my a2 safely?
if yes, which ones.
using non-rooted att A2 4.0.4 OTA

i believe that's impossible to remove bloatware without root
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull

This has been covered many times. No need for a new thread.
And whatever you can remove in "Manage apps" without root is probably safe.

so i have rooted my A2 now. but is there any list of apps which are safe to freeze/remove on ics. the list provided in earlier thread was for gb. or am i missing something?

Just download an app freezer, and freeze all the bloat apps. It is much safer. Then if something messes up other things because it was frozen, then unfreeze it, simple as that.

so, it's a 'trial & error' method.

Unfortunately, yes it is kind of trial and error with freezing apps, because it all depends on the "other" apps you use from the market to do things like sms and email and such. Some apps want to use the att address book and others do not, and so somethings things will FC if you freeze something that another app looks to be running.
It is really not as hard as it sounds.

If you are rooted and have Titanium Backup, simply freeze it.. I did when I first got my SR back in November and haven't had a problem.
I use bloat freezer free. Allows you to scroll through all apps and shows which are running( including system apps that are hidden) I freeze tethering manager to allow use if native AP app and freeze bloat

Layar won't uninstall

So, I never had this problem before.
Usually if I uninstall an app through TB and it still shows in my app drawer,a simple reboot will make it go away.
But this time it's different.
I'm trying to uninstall Layar (bloat), through TB, buy it always comes back to my app drawer. Reboots won't make it go away. And if I click on it, instead of force closing, like an uninstalled app showing on your drawer usually does, it works normal.
As if it was never uninstalled!
I even tried looking for it with root explorer, to remove it manually, but I can't find it in system/app.
Any suggestions?
I think it may be bundled with maps now.

Weird.
But that would explain it.
Never really understood what it does though.
So, if I uninstall maps from my system, and then install it from the market, do you know if it would still be bundled?
Just try it! Remember cleaning dalvik cache after removing. Thwn install maps and see. Trial and error!

I removed it with just Titanium. Another solution would be removing it completely before you flash a ROM.
You could try using Bloat Freezer (on the market) to freeze Layar. Worked fine for me (though technically it doesn't remove it, it just renames the apk so Android can't see it). It's worth a shot.
Have you tried sgstools?

You can always back up your apps with TB and reinstall back later.

You're making it harder on yourself. Do a full titaniumbackup and then use my debloater. If/when you need the app again do a titanium restore for that app. Much easier than freezing by hand.
ok...
can u just give me a list of the apps to remove?
anyway i just wanna remove those BACKROUND RUNNING APPS
I agree with FB backup->debloat-> enjoy lol
Look at a rom in the development section called SimplySimple he has a bunch of apps removed and he lists them that might help you know which apps are ok to remove

I use Gemini App Manager. It shows you which apps have "autorun" code in them and you can selectively kill the "autorun" codes you want.
Nice

You should still debloat. And help us keep the forum from getting bloated. Your post today could have gone in your previous thread. And consider hitting thanks.
If you want a list of apps you can safely remove try this.
Debloat. You have no idea how much ram will free up. Just do not get rid of Visual Voicemail. You already have a copy of the rom you downloaded- just unzip it, look in the system folder, and there will be all of the apks that come with the rom. If you want those apps back, simply load them on your sd card, and push them using a program similar to root explorer back into the system folder that they were originally located.
If your running Valhalla Black, don't get rid of Amazon Mp3.
I make the mistakes so you don't have to
Why not Amazon mp3?

At first it caused a process related to it to keep bringing up a force close message. The only way to remove it was by removing that process.
Here's the catch- once you remove that process, a process called com.android.xxxx (can't remember), starts force closing, which in turn resets your phone. I was also loosing my signal randomly.
I also had flashed other roms before. It could be some part of my phone was corrupted. I couldn't get a log because quite frankly, I needed a phone that worked again. I would just be safe and leave it alone.
The debloater is completely safe though- just don't get rid of visual voicemail.
I froze the amazon mp3, but all is well

[Q] [Solved] Titanium Backup

Ok, here it goes. I have been using tbu for a few years now on various phones. I am using version 3.9.0.1. This is one of the first problems i have had with it. When I go to install or uninstall any app, I get a force close. I have tried numerous things to get it working again with no success. Anyone have any thoughts?

The only thing i can think of is, i have too many apps backed up. I have 247 user apps that equal 3gb. I don't know, I'm lost on this. I might back them all up on my computer, then start uninstalling them normally. I'll get rid of 50 or so and then use tbu and see if it acts any better.

Now rooted, what apps can I delete?

So for now I'm gonna stay stock rooted. But I am tired of seeing all these nonsense bloatware apps. Does anyone know what apps are safe to remove? Also can I just remove them via root explorer in system/apps or is there a better method.

There are numerous threads asking this same question; most of which even have answers in them. Here's an example of one to get you started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828541&highlight=freeze+apps
Okay thanks. But is it recommended to freeze them instead or can I just delete the actual apk?

I freeze them because I don't want any issues when OTA updates come along, but according to this thread you can delete them (and it provides a huge list of the ones to delete)
