I did full wipe and flashed the latest CM7.1, I kinda like this rom but my camera is so laggy only when I use paper camera app it works fine, I tried other camera apps they are laggy too, any advice?
any advice
I have the same issue on CM7.1 ROM. When I run camera app the picture is viewed frame-by-frame per 1,2 second instead of stepless.
On the stock HTC ROM camera works excellent.
Does anybody have this issue? Where can I ask support?
Seems like it is a hardware issue with the desire S. HTC seems to have released a new hardware for the camera which isn't supported by the CM7 kernel yet (as of CM 7.1).
So your best option is to find a custom stock-based rom (sense 3.5), with a lot of the sense things removed for now.
Unfortunately we'll have to wait until either HTC releases the drivers (miniscule chance), someone fixes it in CM 7.2, or someone fixes the ICS camera problems.

Are you sure about that? I thought it was because HTC app is more optimized..

Unfortunately the problem isn't fixed in CM7.2 rc1 either... and apparently we're not alone as users of Incredible S are also getting camera lag.
I've done some forum trawling on CM and xda, and it seems that the complaint summary is:
1. Users of CM7-based kernel roms are affected (stock-derived sense roms don't seem to have this problem).
2. The Camera works, but live preview appears to be broken.
3. When you first turn on the camera app, it works for a brief second, then it freezes.
4. Touching the on-screen buttons appears to temporarily fix live preview, but if you let go, it freezes again.
Issue is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397883
Other users also seem to complain of video playback lag (though I haven't tested this myself...)
So, I'm guessing the problem is a Camera harware vs. driver vs. kernel incompatibility with CM7?
And apparently we can't flash HTC sense-based cameras on CM7...

Lucky... apparently users have been complaining that phones after october 2011 seem to be having problems, if you got your DS before then you should be fine.
I used to have a ONE XL on AT&T back when they first came out, but I suffered from the delayed push notifications on wifi bug that was apparently pretty prevalent, so I returned it. I was planning to get a Nexus 4, but after seeing all the reviews about poor battery life, mediocre camera, etc., I'm now not so sure about that. One thing I do love is stock android. I despise Sense and other manufacturer skins/bloat. So when I saw that CM10 had a stable release for the One XL, I am considering come back to the One XL. I loved the build quality and LOVED the camera.
Anyways, so my question is this-- how good is CM10 stable on the One XL? Is it as fast and stable as the stock HTC rom? Does everything (bluetooth, gps, wifi, notification LED, etc.) actually work properly?
I see two threads in this forum that give me some concern. One about messed up wifi on CM10, and one about messed up GPS on CM10. Are those threads unusual? Or are wifi and GPS problems on the One X common on CM10?
Also, does anybody remember the delayed push notifications on wifi bug that plagued the One XL when it was first released? Does anybody know if that is completely fixed on CM10?
Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!
Edit: And yes, I posted a similar question in one of the CM10 threads but wasn't getting much feedback, so I decided to start a new thread.
Wifi bug spoils the experience
I also love to use the vanilla Android Experience and have tried CM10 nightlies every now and then with hopes that Wifi bug will be fixed but it hasn't been fixed as of now. The UI is smooth as butter, the camera is good too but, for me, the battery life was very bad with CM10. I'd rather go with CleanROM V till the CM10 wifi bug is fixed.
I felt that the camera UI, Panorama and Burst photo capability of Sense is second to none and that is the one reason I keep moving back to Sense based ROMs every time I find CM10 wifi bug is still there.
WiFi an GPS work on mine with Cm10.
Always has for me, hit an miss for a few.
YMMV

Pictures taken with a Sense based ROM are better (more features, sharpening, imagesense chip, ect). That said, the camera on CM10 does work pretty well anyways. I've been running CM10 for a while now, and I don't have any complaints. Once the new camera in Jellybean 4.2 hits our device it will be much better.
Been running flawless. Not a problem since using the stable CM10 build.

CM10 has been flawless for me. I did have battery issues soon after my flash, but discovered the reason (Spotify burning immense background data), and once I fixed that it's been great. I get two days of use on one charge, with about 2-3 hours of screentime. CPU set to ondemand, min 192, max 920. No performance lag whatsoever.
Wifi has been no problem for me. GPS is only an issue for navigation, but if you start nevigation and then press home to run it in the background, it gives you turn by turn. I also believe that that issue was fixed, but I can't remember where I read that.
As you probably know, the stable build was released a few days ago. I haven't had any crashes or force-closes, or any other issues.
Pictures with sense are better than AOSP because Sense contains HTC's proprietary Imagesense tech, which is undoubtedly fantastic. That said, unless you really need great pictures, CM10 pictures are perfectly good.
Don't use bluetooth myself, can't vouch for it, but the only issues I've seen have been resolved or are obscure. LED notification works perfectly and can be customized lots in CM10, which is useful.
CM10 running sweet for me on a Telstra HTC One XL.
Haven't had any major dramas. 4G is working, wifi is working, and my battery life is a fair bit better than the stock ROM.
Download install and test it for yourself.. every phone will act differently

This thread has some comparison pics between Sense and AOSP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943160
Bottom-line: Sense is a little bit better, especially for panoramas - but I think the difference is overstated by most people.

The video camera on cm10 records a very high pitched sound you hear on playback. Its an interference between the two mics while recording. Its a feedback.

Figured I'd throw in my 2c.
I found the Bluetooth gimped, at first (pre Nov) it was very bass'y and hollow sounding on my car stereo, using the latest nightlies it's better but still doesn't sound as good as stock, (yes I disable Beats Audio). Also the stock CM camera sucks a **** compared to the sense one.
AAAnd, no project butter support (yet), so it's not as speedy as it should be.

Hello,
I have the following problem:
I experience visual artifacts when using two-finger rotate in Google Maps, also Photoshpere is really acting up... the images flicker...
Not all devices have it, as a matter of fact there are few of them (reported). Let's try to collect as much data as we can in order to find the cause of this and maybe a fix. I'll start.
HTC One S
Color: Gradient Blue
HBOOT:1.14.0002
Radio:1.06es.50.02.31
Jun 11 2012, 14:36:28
It's recommended to attach a logcat with the problem.
The problem allways happen when try to rotate Gmaps with two fingers, and photoshpere gets crazy especially after taking 1st photo.
It seems like an accelerometer problem, but accelerometer utilities seems to report the sensors working fine, so maybe a GPU driver problem.
C'mon guys, let's get this fixed
For the flicker have you tried changing debug.composition.type=dyn to debug.composition.type=gpu? I also had the same issue with that camera but only tried it when it come out, have you tried other packs that have it?

I've tried many packs... i will try those and report back. The thing that scares me is that this happens on Virtuous Rom also (which is almost stock build with HTC jb libs), and this may mean that i will never have fully working jb not either from HTC.

Keep in mind the camera is for 4.2, not 4.1, and I doubt we'd ever get stock camera on official Sense.

ok, that's not a problem, i can live without photoshpere, but the fact is Google Maps also have this problem and I need GMaps...
I know that at least 3 others reported this problem (and i'm sure that are many others who didn't test for it) I wonder where are they now...
I started this thread hoping that if other users reported it, the devs would try to solve this, but i think i'll just have to wait for HTC to give us JB and see if i still have the problem (but I am really concerned that I might have it). What's wrong with this One series? so many bugs (and not minor): cases chipping, helicoptering bug, sound issues, performance issues (one x), this problem....
I reported in another thread that I have this problem and I do, when using photosphere, I've seen it, although if I keep my movements nice and slow and steady, it seems to hold together.
I haven't seen any problem in Google Maps though, what happens to you in there?
Cheers

when i rotate the map with two fingers i get visual artifacts
I have the same problem on photospere, on maps I have no graphical problems, but the magnet sensor seams to change it's direction sometimes. Had this on CM10, and now on 4.1 Sense+.
Edit: I mean I have the orientation problem on photosphere. My screen does not flicker.
I have this same exact problem with an HTC One XL. I have not found a fix for it.
I've tried flashing every flavor of jellybean there is. It oddly seems to not happen if I use a sense version of jellybean. But I hate sense and want vanilla android.
AOKP, AOSP, modded, unmodded, doesn't matter. I get this annoying graphics glitch when I try to scroll around using maps or photosphere.
I hope it's not purely hardware related, and that there's an easy software fix for it.
Hi guys
I have been experiencing a very annoying buy on my one xl when I run on JB roms.
I experience image artifacting (screen flicker) when I try to do any sort of movement using google maps.
Note that this does NOT happen on sense-based JB roms, only AOSP/AOKP roms.
It doesn't matter what non-sense JB ROM I use, the same issue happens (though it's more pronounced on some ROMS over others).
I searched XDA and found someone else with a similar issue using the HTC One S, and he recorded a video:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053337
Direct link to vid:
Messing with the dev options for GPU rending does not fix the problem.
It seems to be a fairly isolated but major problem.
Are any devs here aware of this problem? Anyone know the cause, or if there is a possible fix for it?
It's driving me nuts! I vastly prefer sense-free JB Roms, but having glitches in such an important app like google maps is very frustrating.
sorry guys
I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, should probably be in the QA forum.
Can a mod move this for me, or should I delete/recreate it in the proper forum?
I really want to switch to a 4.2.2 rom for the HOX, but two things have been holding me back:
* CM 10.1 (The one I am considering the most) is still unstable and seems to be at a standstill (though it's looking bright).
* The Sense Camera is not included in any 4.2 ROM (as far as I know)
The main feature I would miss is the slow motion recording. As far as I know there are no other (good) apps that can do this. The best I've seen was 'pseudo-slow-motion" where it looked like more frames were interpolated.
Other great features include fast continuous shooting, and taking pictures during videos (I have not looked into other apps for these features).
My questions are:
Is there any way to get the Sense Camera into a 4.2 Rom?
If not, are there any alternatives for the features I'm looking for (apps, different roms, etc)?
And any other advice you wish to give me!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
My info if it helps: ATT HTC One X, Rooted, S-Off, Boot-loader Unlocked, CleanROM R2
And a side question (not a high priority): CleanROM is great, but I seem to be missing any HDMI out features, does that happen for anyone else?

This is absolutely wonderful! Thanks for the link!
Ease of use and (from what I can tell) picture quality is superior to the HOX camera app
However, it's missing the key features I want, slow motion video, and fast continuous shooting. Maybe I couldn't find these features, but they aren't in this app. I couldn't find any continuous shooting feature in fact, but I could be wrong. That's a big issue right there. I got used to being able to take up to 20 high speed shots just by holding down the shutter button. I wouldn't mind having a to change a setting every time though, but I can't find that setting if it exists.
Follow up questions:
Are there any modifications I could do to this app?
Am I just being plain dumb and can't find the continuous shooting?
Is there any way to extract the HOX camera app like this team did for the JB 4.2 camera?
Well I use viperxl Rom which is soo good and has that feature you looking for. With viperxl it is sense based but customiZation options are huge and dev is active daily. I think its up to 12 k posts . They are the best

No, there is no practical way to get the Sense camera on an AOSP ROM. The Sense camera app leverages usage of various Sense frameworks and some proprietary drivers for ImageChip, all of which are not present on any AOSP ROM.
If you really want the camera, you'll need to switch to a Sense ROM. I recommend ViperXL JB for now. I'm personally waiting for a Sense 5 ROM to come out before I switch back from LiquidSmooth.
