So before I picked up my new Motorola Droid Razr today, I did research and since my carrier, "H2O Wireless" sim card supports LTE I was told it would work.
I entered the APN settings on my phone and I though it would work after I turned it off & everything, can anyone help please?
It says "Network not available."

Hi there, I really like DROID RAZR MAXX HD, but I am not a Verizon user. I am sure it can be used globally outside USA. I am just wondering if I buy a unlocked DROID RAZR MAXX HD from Motorola or Verizon, is it gonna work on Straight Talk's 3G network? Someone told me yes but there was someone told me no. I am really confused now.
Thanks if you can help me. I really like this phone!
Straight Talk uses ATT‘s network, I guess if it work on ATT, then it should also work on Straight Talk
I believe unlocked Verizon phones still have domestic GSM locked being the phones software is the exact same minus the bootloader is in locked
Being that the bootloader is unlocked they is prob a fairly easy was to fix that..but out the box prob not
Can someone that has a dev x926 please try a att sim card???

Straight talk also has phones that use CDMA
Won't work. Straight Talk is basically ATT, and an ATT SIM does not work, the GSM radios in the phone are for international use only and will not transmit over ATT/TMobile towers. It might work for about 30 seconds until the phone figures out its on GSM in the US, then it'll flip to emergency calls only.
Even an international SIM card won't work because they ultimately will connect over ATT/TMobile while in the US. So, to sum it up, you can buy the VZW HD/Maxx HD and it is unlocked -- but it really only helps you when you're abroad.

Did you change the service mode from GLOBAL to GSM/UMTS only on it? In global mode the CDMA radio is active which is why it's seeing Reliance and trying to prefer it.
Got a Code from Unlocker From Motorola, But That Code is Giving Unsucessfull Message Which means it cannot be unlocked
How are you even getting to an unlock screen where a PIN is requested? The American (Verizon) version I have does not ask for any code regardless of the SIM that I put in....
Can verizon's version of DROID RAZR MAXX HD be unlocked and used in India?

Just GSM unlock your phone and use a AT&T straight talk card. You would have to change your APN setting but thats pretty much it.

I a new to all of this, is that hard to do? And, where do I go to unlock the GSM?

There are other methods as well, using different software tools, but the basic requirement is to make the NV edit in the radio to allow US GSM carriers.
Has anyone tried putting Indian simcards like bsnl, air tel,Vodafone, air cell etc on the droid RAZR maxx HD?. If so kindly share your experience with it. Are they working?

I know it's not India but I was visiting Indonesia last week and a pre-paid sim card I picked up worked great in my Razr HD Maxx. All you need to do it pop it in and set the APN settings correctly and the service should start right up. Good luck!

yes, it will work..I had bought droid razr maxx hd from amazon last year after seeing that it supports global gsm and cdma...I did not activated the device there with the preloaded verizon sim there...now i came in india this feb and first went to vodafone store...i showed that mobile and asked to check with any voda micro sim ...they gave me a test sim and set the voda APN in maxx hd device and I saw that 3g is running fine..google etc site opened fastly...then I tried to call from that sample sim but failed, they told it was only a data activated sim...so i thought my kolkata voda fone number shd work and exchange my normal sim( vodafone kolkata) with the micro sim keeping number same..then I inserted in the phone..but I saw i can not make voice call...within 0 second it ends..but data works fine...so i was very upset, bought a no contract mobile paying huge dollar...after coming to home I tried again but same result...but again I tried this march and surprisingly saw that i am able to call..i called vodafone customer care, called few friends for testing..every thing looks fine..got sms...so quickly I activated 3g services in the device...now my droid razr maxx hd works fine as like normal...i dont know what happened initially, but now works full with vodafone sim...cheers....

I've been trying to use a Droid Razr with a Vodafone India SIM, while all the 2G services are fine, I am unable to make a data connection, the device just doesnt accept a new APN.
Does anyone have a solution?
I am getting a "Phone not allowed MM#6" on Verizon RAZR HD MAXX phone bought over ebay . The seller has assured its not a stolen phone .
I am getting this error when i insert a foreign sim in RAZR HD MAXX , the signals comes for a while and immediately gets blocked . I never had a problem of this type before on any Verizon RAZR phones(RAZR,RAZR MAXX,RAZR HD)

Hi ,
I bought a Verizon Droid RAZR HD MAXX from US. Its a Global phone and does not require an unlock code for use on GSM networks outside US.
I am getting an error message "Phone not allowed MM#6" when i am inserting a GSM SIM in India . I have tried five different cellular networks.
I have used 7 different Verizon RAZR phones (RAZR,RAZR MAXX,HD ) in India but never had a problem with any of them since they are all GLOBAL phones.
Google has no info regarding the message . Please escalate this to tier-2 tech support.
Google results suggest that this happens for a stolen phone but I called Verizon and they confirmed i have a clean ESN phone
IMEI/ESN : 9900020358661XX
More than likely it would be ok on Verizon but is carrier locked preventing it from accepting a foreign SIM
Check the ESN

Try a SIM card from a different provider (if you have one available for testing). Which provider are you trying to use it with? I've seen similar problems in the Droid 4, although nobody mentioned specifically the error that you're getting.
I have tried a different operator but still getting the same message . I have tried Aircel,Reliance GSM . I have also tried BSNL ,the worst operator (government owned) . It seem either there is a central database for stolen phones(unlikely) or something is wrong with the phone. I am amazed that that all threads are unsolved for Phone not allowed MM#6 message.
Hmm, that's strange. What country are you in?

India has many CDMA networks that matches Verizon's band as well, so if your phone is still at its factory settings, it is possible that it is trying to tie itself to one of those carriers first. Verizon is still predominantly a CDMA carrier, so all of their phones by design will attempt to hunt for CDMA bands first before reverting to a GSM protocol.
You can disable CDMA band hunt by going to the Android's Test menu. I know this guide is for HTC devices, but your phone has the same menu as well:
http://www.bestsupertech.com/2012/04/change-network-mode-access-test-mode-in.html
Under 'Select Preferred Network Type', select GSM Only. Let it sit for a few minutes and see what it does.
I have already done that . The cellular network name is displayed in the INFO and settings>Status menu but the signals are blocked .
Have you flashed the phone with an original Verizon firmware? Being a used phone, I would at least do that to wipe out any tampering the previous owner has done with it.
I havent flashed with an original verizon firmware but i have reset the phone several times . Its not a used phone , the original screen guard is still there
Where did you grab the IMEI number? As in did you get it from the phone settings or from a sticker on the phone or box? This could also happen if the IMEI is not correct within the phone.

The phones IMEI is correct
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Verizon Razr HD is not a GSM device. That may be the problem.
BTW, MM6 means the phone has been reported lost/stolen and the IMEI has been network blocked.

To my klowledge, that version is CDMA, not GSM
It is a global phone with both CDMA and GSM (although GSM is carrier locked in US)

Hi. I am also in India on vodafone network. I already bought the Razr Maxx HD from Ebay US and will be receiving it sometime next month. After checking your thread I am wondering if I made a mistake. I had done my own research and as per the phone SPECS, it is compatible with India GSM band. Have you talked to verizon US. May be you can enquire with them. Tell them you are roaming in India and unable to connect to Vodafone. May be there tech support can help out. And have you tried talking to vodafone tech support (198) in India? I called them up and they have asked me to write an email. I will PM u the email ID. Let's work together to get this awesome phone working in India.
PS: Have you tried flashing any ROM CM 10 etc and see if it works?

I got a refurbished Xoom MZ601 WiFi + 3G from Amazon and it arrived today. The device looks brand-new and untouched, even the plastic was still on it and the screen. Great, I thought, until I powered it on and it was in German. I should have been tipped off by the EU power adapter in the box, although there was a US power cord as well.
Anyway, there was no option to change the language to English, fortunately I'm fluent in German and was able to update the OS to 4.0.4 and then the English (US) language option was available.
So here's the thing: the tablet works perfectly, except for one thing: there's a Verizon 4G LTE SIM in the device, but there does not seem to be any evidence of EvDO, even though that's what I thought I had purchased. I've tried using mobile data, but the only two networks the device sees are AT&T and T-Mobile. Removing the SIM card has no effect on the function of the device, but no 3G or 4G, for that matter.
So here are my questions:
- Is it possible that this is a U.S. version that was flashed to a different software, making the CDMA hardware invisible to the OS? I'm thinking this is a possibility, since AT&T and T-Mobile use micro-SIM cards for 4G, not mini-SIM cards, which is what is in there now.
- Is there some sort of diagnostic app that will scan and show me exactly what hardware IS in the device?
- Would some kind of serial number or baseband version information be able to tell me what it is?
- And finally, what are my options? If this isn't a Verizon device, that won't help me, as that's what I thought I was getting. If this can't be resolved by me, I'll have to send it back. I'm reluctant to do this until I'm absolutely sure there aren't any other options because the device is otherwise showroom new!
I'm new to the Android OS, so any help I can get is appreciated!
Well, post the details in the 'about' section of settings.

That will no longer be necessary. I found out that I have the European variant, so no 3G in this country.
I'm sending it back tomorrow and am looking for another one with Verizon 3G.

Hey everyone,
I have the XT910 (unlocked) here in the US with an AT&T SIM and I am going to Spain in a few months. I have a company phone on the Verizon CDMA band. Is there a way to port that number to my personal phone and only have to carry one device?
Any experiences?
I think you are out of luck.
The XT912 probably won't work with a Verizon MicroSIM.

Sorry, I didn't realize I had a typo in my original response.... xt912 is Rogers version which is CDMA.
The same still holds.
The xt910 is GSM device that does not support Verizon LTE or CDMA.
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_xt910-4273.php
Verizon uses the SIM + MEID verification to have a device work on it's network.
So even though the SIM may fit the phone, it won't work. Even if you had a Roger's phone that supported CDMA, you would be out of luck.
Verizon locks the network so that only devices that they specifically authorize can be on their network.
It is easier to get an unlocked Verizon LTE device and use another SIM, than use another device with a Verizon SIM.
To date, I have yet to see a Verizon SIM in another carriers device and have it work, even if the device was CDMA.
