Make sure you have newest version by flashing through ROM manager.

He can't boot, therefor can't use ROM manager. Flash recovery.img from fastboot. You can find CWM recovery images here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686
If you don't know how to use fastboot and flash from it, just search xda, and you'll find many guides ...
Good luck!

Sorry, I'm a noob. Didn't see missing boot img in subject. Had problem flashing with ROM manager before until I updated Clockwork mod recovery. Thought it was similar problem. Lol. Duh.

Trouble installing rom

Sidekick 4g rooted
Loaded cmw recovery.
Loaded the rage3.6.zip
Then cmw says it has to reboot into recovery then I get the blue recovery screen. And reboots to the original rom.
I know its something noob.. but need help. I've tried the three button combo but still not getting anywhere

When you say you loaded rage 3.6, you mean you flashed it?

Have you tried installing GooManager and getting it through there? Otherwise, I installed a CM JB ROM just now on my Skyrocket using TWRP and that worked fine (I had been using CWM up to this point).
I did a simple search of "GT-I9000 CWM Recovery" and was linked to Cyanogenmod's wiki here.. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
:cyclops:
I have tried this, but it's not working. The heindal program is not reading the kernel file.

GT-I9000 CWM Recovery should have worked
tried the step on the recent post and worked for me too.....
You can download ROM Manager from the Play Store. It has an option built in to download and flash CWM.

soething like this also happened to me when i tried to flash cm11 to my xperia sola it was because the kernel i was using was not supporting the ROM once i "fastboot flash boot boot.img" , boot.img given in the zip folder i was able to flash the new ROM. Best of luck
Did you flash the boot.img over pc or on the phone?

I support. This seems like a boot.img problem. Try to make it via PC while the phone is in fastboot mode.
This is for a galaxy s3, would download/odin mode qualify as a fastboot mode? :S

I tried flashing boot.img in recovery, it failed. Anything else? :/

Any other suggestions would be helpful

I would recommend using the latest twrp. I find it much more reliable than CWM. Just my two cents.

Make a flash able zip for boot.img.
.img cannot be flashed through custom recoveries. .
Only zip file can be flashed.

I used TRWP and compressed the boot.img into a zip to flash and attempted it but I get a failed message.... Should I just scrap it throw away the phone at this point? Nothing seems to work...

CWMR Question Galaxy Tab 2 PT3113

After I installed ClockworkMod Recovery, Everything I exit out of it I'm asked if I want to disable recovery flash because "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot". What do I do?

Select yes before booting.
I really recommend you use philz's touch recovery by the way. You won't get that notification anymore and its much more functional than standard cwm

Ok thanks for your help.
I installed Philz CWM, How do I install a rom to the external with it? Thanks.
