Lucky you on Rogers. Still waiting on AT&You're taking fricking forever T

I have no SIM card in and am connected to the internet via wifi and when I check for an update it comes back as "no update found". Do you need a SIM card in to get an update?
I have a white Rogers HTC One X, 16GB.

I'll download it over Wifi when I get home, since the update is over 600 megs (only have a 1GB plan).
Work's wifi seems to be slow today.

It doesn't make sense to me... Why doesn't everyone just wait for a flashable version?

If youve already got custom recovery then just flash a JB Rom...Just don't forget the boot.img if your bootloader needs it. If you flash a JB and don't like it you can always just restore your backup.

I'm currently running CM10 but I'm having technical issues with the ROM which is why I'm looking to install 4.1 from HTC.

I've read a few posts on sites with folks that have installed this bean, that their WiFi is not working properly.
So if you're looking for a fix all, might want to keep waiting til the devs here work their magic. Just pointing that out.

I'm one of those "folks".
I can connect to my network and access the settings pages for my router and access point, but I can't access the internet through any apps, including gmail, browser and speedtest.net app. Data works fine, I can connect through Fido LTE and everything works great. I tried deleting the cache partition via the stock recovery and that didn't work, so I'm backing up my stuff right now to try a full wipe.
I'll post an update after the wipe!
Side note: there are a few improvements, like updated keyboard, direct tabs button in browser, that are very welcome, so hopefully the wi-fi thing is an easy fix!

Interesting. Updating now. I hope if I have Wifi issues that an OTA fix is quick to come.

I agree with it should be a quick fix, once HTC clues up and in over it.

Wi-Fi is working now after a factory reset.
Sucks I had to do it but it's better than no Wi-Fi! I know it's not unusual to require a reset after an update, but it is unusual that in the update notes it said you won't lose your files, which lead me to believe a reset wouldn't be required :-/
YMMV, so you might want to wait a few days before doing the upgrade, and if you can't make a backup, at least back up your "SD Card" in case you have to do a factory reset like I did!

Message from AT&T to update Rom! rooted, unlocked bootloader

Ok people, Here is a couple of Questions for you. My AT&T One X is rooted with an unlocked bootloader however, I am running a stock Rom. I just started getting this AT&T message that is giving me the option to update my software. But! It gives me a choice of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 hours to remind me if I do not do it now. If I let the update happen, will it crash my phone? Will it take out my root? Permanently ?? I am afraid to update because I have been reading that AT&T has been trying to fix their back door.
Also, How can I stop the reminder from coming back???

Then CleanROM 2.5 SE (stock debloat performance and battery mods)

Or CleanROM Lite (very slim speedy rom mostly everything stripped out install own apps from market)

And then kernal from (general consensus is 1.82 is the best for performance and battery.

And finally a radio from (will have to try them and find out which works best for you with data speed and signal)

I will do that. I have to get up early for work so I will be back on tomorrow night. One last thing though, you said to flash the Rom then the Kernal? I thought the Kernal came first.
Oh and what if I flash the Kernal without updating to the new Rom? The reason I'm asking is that My wife has the same phone However hers is Rooted but not BL un-locked. so if I flash just the Kernal would it work? Then, would it solve the AT&T reminders to upload their Rom?
Sorry for all the Questions, Gary
These kernals are recovery flashable. Meaning from CWM so ordet doesn't matter, technically the Rom will flash a kernel, but some users say one is better than another so just throwing out options. I don think there is a way to get rid.of.the notification unless you could.freeze the updater app with something like titanium backup, or go custom Rom route.

I want to thank you for the recomending this Rom it all went in beutifully! I ended up flashing my wifes phone also.
Today AT&T sent us messages that stated that there would be no more reminders and that if we did not choose to update they would update anyway. So I shut down the phones until I got off work and took out our access cards then turned off Wi-Fi. Finnally when I could this afternoon I started flashing.
Nice, I'm glad it worked out for you. CleanROM lite is nice too, if you want a leaner Rom.

I have flashed two custom ROMs now and both have been glitchy and slow. (stuttering, freezes, FCs, etc)
I found my original nandroid from just barely post unlock/root, and restored it. I'm on 1.7x and would like to stay that way if at all possible.
Does anyone know what to freeze in TiBa in order to get this to stop? I just want to stay on stock/rooted for right now.

So if I have 1.73 rooted with bootloader unlocked. Can i just install clean rom to update to 1.85? or do i first have to update? If i have to update first is it better to use the Peter's guide post or can i just use bootkeeper and to the ota update?

Remove HTCLinkifydispatcher on 2.2 stock ROM

Anyone figured out a way to remove HTCLinkify on the new rom? The old method doesn't seem to work.
Are you rooted? You should be able to with an app like Root Explorer, Rom Toolbox, or Titanium Backup.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yep but when you remove it all links stop working. On 1.85 there was a setting in build.prop that needed change. It no longer works on 2.2
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The old hack is not working anymore, at least I could not get it to work, I even tried adding the second extra line to the build prop. That sucks! Especially when just about all the other mods are working. Friggin apple!

I think the build prop edit will still work on any rom without the new hboot. Which is anything not the OTA or RUU. I would verify that but I think that's correct.
How do I know if it is removed?
One way is to go to settings and see if there is an App Associations menu item. Another is to email yourself a YouTube link, And when you click the link when you receive the email, if it asks you which application you'd like to use, then great success.

Removing the apk just means you can't change the app associations. It doesn't fix the inherent issue, which is that we want a menu to pop up and give us options for what to do when we touch a link.
Previous to 2.20, all the AT&T base roms could be fixed by adding one line to build.prop and changing one other. This doesn't work any longer.
Well,
The link that I posted on the previous page solved that for me.
I have an apps associations on Settings, and when I click on a link on gmail it asks me if I want to open it with Chrome or the stock browser.
The thing is there are 2 entries in the build.prop for 'ro.da1.enable=true'
one at the top and another one on the bottom of the file.
I tried the method you just mentioned and it still doesn't work.

[Q] Can I roll back to 4.0.4

Is it possible to roll back my HTC One X evita to JB 4.0.4? I updated to JB 4.1.1 via RUU and have since unlocked the bootloader and s-off. My work email is on Exchange and when I enable encryption, the One X can't finish and then locks. Tried many times and downloaded many variation of 4.1.1 and even tried 4.1.2 custom ROMs. They ALL do the same thing. However, with stock 4.0.4, this worked just fine. I'd appreciate any help with getting me roll back to 4.0.4.

[ROM] [4.2.2] [4.3] [Cyanogenmod] SEMPERSLICK 1.2.1 STABLE

SEMPERSLICK 1.2.1Thanks to
Scott (for the boot animation from cleanROM 7.0)
all the developers at the cm 10.1 Q&A forum (For helping me to understand what was wrong with my edits and my phone.)
And full credit to the cyanogenmod team
This ROM is based on Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 and is completely stable. the rom itself is just a repack of cyanogenmod with xsposed framework and an aosp toolbox.
I have removed most of the CM apps including the trebucket launcher (which I have replaced with nova launcher). If you want some of these apps let me know and I will try and put them back in.
do what you want with this ROM. there are not a lot of big edits so you can edit the way you want.
If ROM fails
check your HBOOT. (this ROM needs at least HBOOT 2.14)
check your recovery. this will work with TWRP and should work with CWM.
If none of these aply, post it on the thread and I will try my best to get back to you
If you have sugestions please let me know. I am mostly free on weekends and some week nights.

Hi
I am sorry but the ROM I guess can only be downloaded on a computer. tryed with my device and it didn't download corectly. so download it on your computer and then mount your sd card on your computer and move the file. then flash in recovery
I just need to ask, how safe is this to flash? I'm only asking because in a conversation I had with you a couple of days ago you didn't know some of the really basic things to do with Android.
Also, this is basically a zipdev right? You've just removed some apps and renamed the ROM? Are there any real changes or optimizations from the base?

Ok. You probably need to remove the Google apps that are built in though. There's a reason they're not included in any other aosp ROM, Google basically issued a Cease & Desist Order against CyanogenMod (sued them) because they're not licensed to distribute the apps. Whether this applies to smaller devs I'm not sure, but you'll notice that no aosp ROMs have Google apps built in, they're always a separate package. Just don't want to see you get in any trouble, better to be safe than sorry I think.

Zipdeving is altering a ROM by extracting the zip, adding/removing apps, and re-zipping it to be packaged as a new ROM, without any actual development done in the process.

I also think because you've repackaged a cm ROM you need to acknowledge that fact in your OP and give full credit to the CyanogenMod team.

Will do that. Anyone please do not flash the Rom just yet. I will try later today to do the edits

Yeah it's definitely a bit easier to have them integrated, when we're talking about potential legal repercussions it's worth the extra hassle lol.

Well if you were 14 years old would you want to risk getting into legal trouble?

Absolutely not
To be honest I highly doubt they'd come after you but like I said, better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah you can link to the appropriate gapps download page at goo.im, that's where the other ROMs point to.

It will be aesthetically identical to any CyanogenMod ROM.

almost done needs to upload and it can be slow on my conection. just a reminder there will not be any google apps on this rom,so you will need to download a flashable zip of them. just do a search on xda for gapps 4.2.2. this will only take 4.2.2 gapps so dont try 4.1.2 or any 4.3 version. if you do, just dont say I didnt warn you when it fails.
