[Q] Disable roaming icon? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3 running Cyanogenmod 10, and version 4.1.2,
When I'm roaming, I get an "R" icon in the place where the "3G" or "4G" icon is usually displayed. There are no data roaming charges for US Cellular, so I'd rather not have the "R" icon. I'd rather just have the "3G" or "4G" icon even when I'm roaming.
How can I disable the roaming icon?
Note: I do not wish to disable roaming. I only want to disable the roaming icon.

I would guess you could use ninja morph from the play store to theme your system ui to just replace the roaming icon with what you want

Ah, good idea. I just looked up ninja morph, and it seems promising.
Here's where I think I might get stuck:
I could use ninja morph to replace the "R" icon with a custom "4G.png" But, this isn't hugely useful -- this logic wouldn't make the icon show up as 3G or 1X when my data connection is 3G or 1X; it would always just say 4G when roaming.
Would ninja morph allow me to have the appropriate 4G, 3G, or 1X icon display instead of the R icon?

Not really is just going to replace the icon

I've got a workaround that I'm pretty satisfied with:
I'm using a Network Monitor application that provides a "service level" widget in the upper bar of the screen.

[Q] Turn of LTE

Has anybody figured out a way to turn of the LTE antenna. I'm curious if there's an app to disable the antenna, LTE is great but i need ways to conserve battery.
Yes go to wireless networks and the mobile networks and select the ones you would like

How to turn off LTE (sgh-i727r tested)
Home screen -> menu button -> settings -> wireless and network -> mobile networks -> network mode
that option is only available on custom roms

Sorry, Didn't realize how locked down ATT devices are.
I'm using a stock rogers i727r.
I cant even switch to 2g network like previous versions of android. I am looking for something similar to the HTC evo's ability to turn of the wimax antenna. I tried an app designed to turn it of for the htc thunderbolt but obviously it didn't work. looks like LTE is locked on by the firmware, and there is no way to turn it off. I know that i can force the phone to disconect from lte my fooling around with the apn settings but the antenna will still be on even though its not connected.
if you're rooted you can pull the settings.apk and settingsprovider.apk from the BoneSTOCKeteer (in System/App) ROM and push it to your ROM to System/App using Root Explorer, if you know how. (the Roger's ROMS allow you to change network mode)
Thanks for the advise. I ended up runing the rogers rom it has much better network control. Sadly the keyboards included in that rom are junk. I prefer the stock keyboard.

I turned off LTE/DATA.. by turning off "data packet"... use wifi and still get calls and texts and even better battery life.
Stock rom and rooted
Easier way if non-rooted:
Use the media Net apn, instead of att pta.
the media net apn only runs on 2g/3g.

No dice, still had the same settings.
*** EDIT ***
Wiped and flashed BoneSTOCKeteer and now the settings are there. However only GSM/HSPA/LTE AUTO and GSM/HSPA AUTO work, GSM ONLY and HSPA ONLY do not work for AT&T apparently.

[Q] Remove AT&T Signal Icons?

I am searching for a MOD to remove the stock AT&T signal icons and use the other standard H+/3G icons. The main reason for this is that using the AT&T icons doesn't allow the user to force the network to 3G only or 2G only.
The device is S-OFF, Rooted, but otherwise stock. I wasn't looking to load a separate ROM if I don't have to.
I did some digging and don't see where anyone has requested this or has a MOD that does this except as part of another ROM.
Thoughts?

I don't see how a different set of icons would add the ability to force 3g or 2g only. Icons are essentially just images.

The AT&T icon set is attached somehow to locking the network settings so that you can't manually select individual networks.
On other non-AT&T devices when you go to settings and select mobile network you have the option to change network mode but on devices with the AT&T icon set you don't have that option.

Depending on the rom you are using some of them have an option which to use while installing.

Agreed. What I searching for is a MOD that makes the change without having to flash a full ROM.

I don't believe there is one.
If all you are looking to do is change the network preference for the phone, try dialing *#*#4636#*#* and just scroll down to the drop down for preferred network. This will lock you in to 3g or 2g if you prefer. It should last until your next reboot.

Just flash a non-AT&T based ROM and be done with it. AT&T breaks so many basic and useful functions, including the ability to pick your network type.

[Q] Disable Roaming "R" icon in status bar.

I am using an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), so I have always had to activate "Data Roaming" in order to be able to establish a connection over the mobile data network.
Usually in my S3 which i was using before, I could see a sign next to the reception gauge which indicated me which mobile data standard my device was using at the moment (H+/E/G), even when I was roaming at these times.
Nowadays on my new Nexus 5 with stock Android 4.4 I am justing being shown the "R" sign next to the gauge, without any indicator for the standard it is using at the moment (LTE/H+/E/G).
Is there a way to disable the roaming indicator ? can anyone tell me or create a xposed module for the same if possible ?
thanks in advance. it is such a small issue but its annoying since i dont get full connection always and want to check whether i am getting 2g or 3g
Are u using Lycamobile?
Which country & network are you in?
My operator is a MVNO in the UK, but don't get the Roaming flag.
That said, when I was living in India if I travelled to a different state it would behave as you're saying - so wonder if it's more related to that than the fact it's an MVNO?
Yes am using Lycamobile and I live in Virginia, USA

Hi,
I have the same problem in Spain, also using a VMNO and on stock ROM I also get the R.
When I was using customer made roms (Cyanogenmod or AOSP based) this did not happen as in the settings menu there was an option of setting National Roaming.
I am using another different device than yours (Xperia V), but it is a common problem. If anyone knows a solution, perhaps with an Xposed Module, or whatever it would be very helpful
Thanks
Same problem, I miss the data indicator while roaming
This app helped to solve my problem. It's a network monitor but it also indicates on which data network you're on.
It's called "2G 3G 4G LTE Network Monitor" available in Play Store
I have a similar problem. Not on an MVNO, but I'm using an unlimited Telmex plan in Mexico, which give lets me use my phone and data normally when roaming in Canada and US, so i really don't care to know that on roaming, but i would like to know what sort of data connection i have, if any.

[Q] Signal problems

I am running on [4.4.2] [FEB-13][UNOFFICIAL] AOSB Project [v1.2.9] with a I535VRUCML1 modem. my signal was giving me 1x so i went into the options and changed the prefered network type to LTE/CDMA/EvDo and allowed data roaming.and now it i toggle airplane mode i can get one bar of 4g but then it switches down to one bar of 3g and eventually down to 1x. I originally had the VRBMF1 modem with the same results. Also it might be worth mentioning that when i select LTE/CDMA/EvDo it apears as network mode: CDMA+LTE/EvDo. Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong, or how to fix it?

I won't trust the signal bar, specially on custom rom. You should download an app called SignalChecke light and see the reading in db. Around -102db is OK.

Its not the signal bar. I get the same Same signal strength as before about -98db of 4g. But the signal switches automatically. And holds on 1x
