Hi, I had a bricked optimus 3d, after the installing the cwm recovery I couldn't turn it on, it would always go into the cwm recovery, no mater how I turned it on.
So I followed johnance17's unbrick guide on an xp pc, and I was able to flash the v10b fw.
Everything went like you described it: the counter reached the 100, I waited about 6minutes after that to turn it on, after that it would go straight to the android factory recovery (the one with the blue letters), and to phone won't boot up.
So I made a factory reset, than reboot, but nothint happened, then factory reset and wipe cache partition, than reboot, but I was still getting the recovery.
Then I made a factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe nv dynamic partition, and then reboot, but the phone instead of rebooting turned itself off.
I turned it on, but it said, that the battery was almost empty, and needs a recharge (strange, because it was fully charged).
I pluged it on the charger, and the sign of a totaly empty battery was showed.
I left it for a couple of hours and the hole night, but the empty battery sign was still there.
I tried to turn on the phone, it booted up normaly, everything was ok, the phone was working again, but the battery was completely empty.
I bought 2 original replacement batterys, but the result is still the same.
The phone is unbricked and operational if the charger is plughed in, when I unplugh the charger, the phone says, that the battery is empty, and turn itself off, and will not charge.
So, can someone help me what went wrong, why won't any battery work?
Why won't they charge?
I think that it has something to do with the last item I wiped, the nv dynamic partition, because after that the phone hasn't rebooted, but turned off.
What sould I do?

I've tried, but no luck, unfortunately..
I was able to flash 10b without brick, but but had battery issues like you described. I thinks its a flaw in the build. I just installed King_3d_rom_v1.2 ROM which is in the developer section of these forums and it works well and has apparently solved my battery issues. ...probably worth a shot! (Good Luck!)
I tried to flash King_3d_rom_v1.2 ROM but still, battery is still at zero(0) level.
@freez76, What ROM were you using before resolving your battery issue?
Did you do a full wipe before flashing (cache, data, dalvik)? I was on 10b when I was having battery problems. I am now on 10d with King and not only its my battery working again, but its better than it was on the May version of the stock ROM. ...I should also point out that I am on a developer version of the phone.

I have same problem to you. My first rom is LGP920-V08i-APR25-2011. I upgraded it with V10b_00.kdz. However the O3D turned off after booting. If I connect with USB cable, it is working well. but battery level is zero. Do you have same firmware at the first time???
Yepp, I've unbricked it by installing the v10b fw.
Tried the kingdom rom with wipeing everything, but still the same. :S
Have you backed up original rom??? I didn't..... So I didn't use o3d until now... If anyone has the old rom,. pls post it... Thanks.
@freez76
Is the 10b fw you had with battery problem the one from Fabio's post? When you flashed it, did you wait for the O3D to restart itself after reaching Param 100 in kdz_updater?Would it be possible for you to upload a backup copy of your currently working ROM (King) and share it with us who are having battery problem?...Thanks in advance.
@freez76
I hope so.... Pls Help us freez76... Thanks
@dnardz
Yes, it was the 10b update from fabio's thread, but the update was from gpx. From what I remember the update took awhile, but eventually completed normally. However, the battery seemed completely messed up after the first discharge.
I am attaching a link to my wiped fresh backup (which will need to be unzipped) of my o3d with KingROMv1.2 installed. Its the same restore backup method that gpx used. Just a note, I am using CWM 4.0.0.9. Please check your version and update if its not the same. I hope this helps....Good luck!

Many thanks Freez76...I'll give it a try now...
Thanks Freez76. However it is not working at my O3D.... How about dnardz and Zirowe????
Sad to say,it didn't work also on mine.. i think i'll try to flash 10b again,..then apply the June update as Freez76 did, and then update using King's rom.otherwise we'l have to wait for an official flashing program ang maybe a gingerbread rom to come out.by the way im also using prototype model.

Well, I'm still stuck, I'm out of town now, will give it another try on tuesday.
Not ideal I know but at least you will be able to charge the batteries again as well as having 2 spares. I use one of these and they work very well.

I've already tried two other batteries with the same result, so it's not a solution for me.. :S
The idea is that you can charge the batteries with the stand alone charger, not that you get other batteries to charge in the phone.

So, I've been using Coredroid roms since rooting my phone and everything was perfectly fine. I've switched between other roms and ultimately concluded that I preferred the Coredroid roms. Everything was running great on version 7.6. I installed version 7.1 and once my battery reached 30 percent it started restarting over and over again. So I flashed back to the backup I made of 7.6, it seemed okay for about 20 minutes and again started rebooting it's self. So now I'm putting version 8.0, during the setup it reboots it's self. What can I do about this?
Completely wipe via recovery. Go to mounts and format data, system, catche then factory reset and then flash the rom.

You should move this to Q and A...
But on a serious note try doing what the person above said and if that does not work(it most likely will) then try to remove the battery for a few minutes...then when you turn it back on check the temperature of your battery...
Possibly your device is getting to hot and is shutting off as a safety precaution, are you overclocking higher than 1500?
if all else fails hit with a hammer j/k
Thanks for the help guys. I did a full wipe as said above and installed coredroid 8.0 all issies have stopped. Thanks a ton, and for the record i was not overclocking any more than what cimes with the rom its self. No adjistments made by me.

Ive hit the wall as far as my experience fixing my phone goes, and I would REALLY appreciate any help
A few days ago I updated my rom (icecoldsandwich, if it makes a difference). I went from a stable version to a test version. After the update I began having random reboots, sometimes as often as every 20 minutes. These happen regardless of what I'm doing, sometimes even if I'm not touching the phone.
I figured these were due to the rom, so I went back to the stable version and still had the same problem. I then tried a few different builds (redemption, aospX, cm7). Still have the problem
I've tried redownloading the roms, checking the checksums, formatting my sd card, reflashing cwm. Pretty much everything I can think of and nothing has helped.
Could be the battery. This is a symptom of the battery going bad, especially if you still have the stock battery. Get your hands on another battery and see if that fixes the problem.
I have the stock battery, but the phone itself is only 3 months. Who knows how "old" it is, but it hasn't been heavily used yet
Edit: also, it has rebooted while plugged in to an ac charger. From what I've read of battery issues, they reboot when the battery goes, but NOT while plugged in
How about flashing the stock RUU and then reflash your stable version?

To be honest with you, I'm not even 100% sure what RUU is, much
less what it entails
RUU is the stock ROM Update Utility. To you it is the stock ROM that you can flash on your phone from your PC.

Try flashing like cordroid or another gingerbread sense Rom and see if you experience the same.

Hi
After learning to load diferents ROM, I habe laerned the following:
try a factory reset after you loaded the ROM.
But I will recommed to make a complete Clear Dalvik Cache and load the rom
After you loaded the ROM, perform a full reset factory
If you still having the issue, discard that rom, won´t work in your HTC

You should be factory/cache/dalvik clearing BEFORE you load the rom.
Put in any rom and try something out. Power off the cell and take out the battery. See what happens. I had a strange battery behaviour a week ago which I'll be posting in the Q&A at some point.
Sent from a dream.
I always do a full wipe (either restore/dalvik/cache, or else the super wipe script) before every flash. I have also noticed that my phone is much more stable since I took the sim out. It will still reboot, but I can get up to 10 hours in between.

Could be a rogue app, also. I know Google Reader made my phone reboot 3 different times when I was using it. Haven't had a problem since I uninstalled it.
Pi don't think its an app either. Running my phone right now with only xda and isyncr installed and still had a reboot(although it did go 3 hours this time). I ordered a new battery from amazon. Hopefully that fixes it. Should be in next week

Let us know how the new battery works, I know I've been considering getting one.
I got the battery in this afternoon. So far one reboot. I'll give it a day or two to settle in and give a report. If this doesn't do it I'm completely at a loss

So I have a little bit more info. I got my new battery in as well as a new SD card. My reboots have gotten much less frequent, but they still exist. I did, however get a reboot logger and a logcat program on my phone, so I was able to grab this
vorbis.decoder'

That is a log as far as I can tell for directly before and directly after a hot reboot. I'm hoping someone here can help me make sense of it and tell me what it means, if anything important at all.

So, after finally running out of other options I flashed the stock RUU through hboot. If this doesn't fix the problem then I'm completely screwed. Thanks to everyone for their help. I'll keep a reboot logger running and check back tomorrow.
Recently, my battery levels have gotten stuck at 100%. At the time that this happened, I was using an older version of owain ics so I decided to update to owain domination ics rom. It was fine after installing and everything but once I turned off the phone, my battery levels would get stuck at 100% once rebooted. When I installed this rom, I made sure to wipe data, cache, factory wipe and dalvik wipe and all that stuff. So I decided to use a different rom and I used eagles blood 4.0.4 and I get the same exact problem. Same with Hell fire sandwich 1.8. I have searched this problem of battery percentage getting stuck at 100% before but all the solutions tried (wipe battery stats and calibration) did not work for me. How would I fix this problem of battery levels getting stuck at 100% after reboot?

Hey thanks for your reply
Unfortunately, it didn't work and the first reboot gave me a 100% battery percentage. I also noticed that when I switched wifi on using owain domination ics rom, my phone went back to that spinning circle bpotloading screen and then it turned on Wi-Fi.

Which kernel have you been using? Perhaps try another one. Make sure to wipe cache and dalvik first then fix permissions afterwards. As for the wifi reboot thing, that is just a bug in owains rom right now. In sure it'll be fixed soon.
If you're always using airplane mode, that could be why

just bought a 2nd hand mt touch 4g slide, was on factory rom, using, no problem till when i charge it
1. power on,charging takes more than 7 hours to 100%?? but if charged more than 2 hours, unplug power cord, restart, battery shows 100%? use,no problem.
2.power off. charging. unplug . orange light still stay on,then cannot power on unless pull out battery and put it back. use,no problem
so what i did is 1. i changed to one of the custom rom from here, problem still same
2. i bought a new battery, problem still same
any one has same problem here?
There are a bunch of battery issues for this phone. So here's some questions for you:
a) What rom are you using? Did you flash a different kernel for your rom? Try formatting /system, /cache, and all user data before flashing your rom. It might still have the problem carried over if the edify didn't wipe those automatically.
b) Have you tried recalibrating the battery? I know it seems redundant, but it seems to work for me. Probably a placebo effect though.
c) What recovery are you using? The earlier CWM recoveries have charging issues.
d) What battery are you using?
Download battery calibration app from the play store and run it following instructions. Wiping cache and dalvik doesn't clear the battery stats from previous usage.
If you follow the instructions you should notice an improvement.
