Hi, I am using Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5801) from past 2 years. Recently I am started experiencing memory bloat issue. I have only 30 apps installed and still I have only 20MB internal memory left. I tried clearing all unnecessary data from Application section in Settings. I also moved few apps to SD card. Still there is not increase in free internal memory. Due to this my phone's performance has drastically reduced and m quite frustrated with it
I am thinking to do a factory reset now to get back my internal memory. Can anyone suggest how much will this help in resolving the issue. Also can anyone tell me what data I will lose if I go for a factory reset. Will I lose all the apps (including Google Play, YouTube, Calculator,All Share, etc which came pre installed when I bought the phone)???
Kindly let me know if any other way exists to resolve my problem.
Thanks in advance....
Some info about factory reset...
Factory reset erases only /data and /cache - any data you stored, any apps you installed, any settings you configured WILL BE LOST.
SYSTEM apps will stay as they were.
Also, If you upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2, you will still have 2.2 installed because /system folder doesn't get deleted when doing factory reset.
If you rooted the phone, root will STAY too.
I don't know if you're rooted, probably not as if you were, you will NOT be facing those problems
When you are rooted, you can try eg. Link2SD app (download from the play store) and move teoretically EVERY app to the sdcard.
And as I'm not an expert with this app moving stuff, maybe some other geek can help you out with this

I recently accidentally hard-reset my xda iii. Most of data was stored on my sd card (which of course i can recover). I want to know whether it is possible to recover other data, much in the same way you would with a desktop. There were several important text messages i needed.
Is this possible or has the data gone for good?
Silly me, didn't back up in a while...
in the flash part of the memory you can as in /storage and extented rom but not the ram they work just like ram in your pc == no power no bytes no memory of last state to undelete to
Ok, so there may still be some data in the flash part. Do you know of any programs that might help me?
Thanks for your reply
A hard reset will have more than likely wiped what was stored internally.
I suggest you get a backup utility and start using it, that way, if it happens again, you will have a full backup of everything you had installed, and all of the files stored on the device.
I've been having a problem as of late and I was hoping maybe someone could offer some explanation, advice, etc.
Last Friday, after a full wipe, I flashed Liquid Gingerbread 3.0 after running 2.6 forever. I use My Backup Pro to backup and restore app data. I do not use it for anything else (no system data, etc.). I installed all my Apps from apks I had, then restored app data with My Backup Pro.
I then proceeded to move apps to sd with Apps2sd like I usually do. Everything seemed to be okay until I noticed a while later that apps moved to the card started disappearing, but the app data was remaining on the sd and the coms were still listed as installed. I uninstalled Apps2sd and reinstalled the apps, noticing that large apps (10 + mb) were installing directly to the sd. I checked the settings and made sure internal was set for app installations and tried again. Large apps were still installing directly to the sd.
Thinking that maybe I didn't wipe properly (lol) I did another full wipe (system, data, cache, davlik) and reflashed LGB 3.0. I did the same process as above with installing and restoring app data. I rebooted my phone to find that large Apps were still installing directly to the sd, and still disappearing and still leaving behind data on the sd.
I thought it was a ROM issue at this point so I did another full wipe and flashed iBolt 0.9. Still having the same problem so I know it's my phone.
I have a few ideas of what is happening but I don't know how to fix it. Is there something on my sd card that is affecting the way apps are installed? Is there a cm7 setting I'm missing somewhere that is affecting it? Are my wipes somehow leaving behind remnants? I know this is long but I was trying to be as specific as possible in hopes of some feedback. If someone has any ideas as to what is happening I'll try anything to see if it fixes it.
My apologies if there is a thread about this already here but Tapatalk search is seriously lacking.

I am using Samsung i699 (android 2.3.6) in China, They preinstalled so many suck apps. After I rooted and removed a bunch of apps including system files, and then every time when I power on, it displays "Low Storage Space there is not enough storage space available to complete this action, please clear some space and try again" Before remove some system files such as applicationsprovider, kies, kieswifi and etc... it never had any problems. So here I have 2 questions:
1 How can I resolve the issue?
2 If nobody knows, I want to restore factory default. When I press "restore factory default", it just restores my settings, or restores all the apps and systems files I deleted?
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP

A further details, When I power on, if I has turned on the wlan, or or someone is calling me as soon as powen on. the phone would be ok, and nothing display on the screen. so confused
Use Titanium Backup (rooted version) or Links to Sd app from Google Play.
From these you can remove all unwanted apps (even system apps).
You can clear off some space, deleted unwanted files, clear cache and make some space for your mobile.
NOTE: BOTH APPS REQUIRE ROOT AND BEWARE TO UNINSTALL CRAPPY APPS ONLY DON'T MESS WITH THE SYSTEM CORE APPS. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK

Hi,
I have the original Note 10.1 and it has been working great for over a year but recently the internal memory just keeps filling, no matter what I do. I have cleared out all unwanted apps & data which worked for a while butn a matter of weeks, & without downloading any more apps, it's become full again. I then did a factory reset which worked well, but within 2 weeks same again!
Any ideas?

Could be one App that is synchronising data to the tablet.
Do factory reset.
Remove the memory card
don't use any apps
and monitor the storage space used. (if the internal memory is still getting low so the tablet need to reinstall the firmware)
Make sure you don't setup DropBox account to see what will happen.
after this try one app at a time to see which app is eating the storage.
final option is to do reinstall of the stock firmware again using Odin.

I'm on 4.1.2 it's been fine since I did the last reset but I took the memory card out and haven't put it back in so I don't know if it was something on that that was causing the problem
Yesterday I decided to do a complete wipe of my phone and restore the latest backup I had using TWRP because I was having issues with connecting to the 4G network. The restore fixed the issue, but now I'm having problems with select apps. I'm running OA6 stock and it appears my apps don't have permission to write to internal memory. I can't save pics from Facebook, for example, to my phone.
If anyone has a clue how I could fix this, I'd appreciate the help! From what I can tell, my internal memory is read only.
Internal storage is indeed read only, and appears to be why my apps can't write internally. Anyone know how to fix the permissions?
