I have been running the latest stock JB for a day and would like to know what other ROMs peeps have had a good experience with. I see folks on Clean Rom and Cyanogen 10. If your using one of those I would like to know how well they work any broken features?
Cheers,

Why don't you add a poll to make it easier for folk?

CleanROM Inheritance 3.0.4 also
thnx sbdags for making it.

Didn't think of that good idea!
Poll added.
I'd been on the stock rom for ages... only took the plunge to unlock this week. I'm using:
TWRP 2.3.3.0
I first installed surdu_petru The Ultra Fast Rom V03 (I wasn't too keen on the new icons)
Then installed Cleanrom Inheritance 3.04 (Keeping surdu_petru kernel)
Having root and being able to delete anything I want has been great.. I was going to remove the stock browser and install Opera Mobile and re-map the keyboard dock key to Opera. I didn't needed to as the stock browser works great now. Really impressed with the rom  .... I've used m TF300T more in the last week than I have in the previous 6 months.... it really was a slow piece of crap before (I'd tried everything to get this thing running smoothly before unlocking).
I have to say Asus REALLY needs to look at doing something to make the stock rom workable. No one should have to unlock and flash a new kernel / rom just to be able to use the stock browser properly.
Both roms worked great just prefer sbdags theme more
I have tried most of the roms and without a doubt at the present time its clean rom 3.0.4 for me. unters first tf300 kernal at 1.6 ghz overclock and 520 mhz gpu works great and i did not find any thing at all that didnt work as it should. unters 4.4.20 is what i use and that breaks the front camera but has a slightly higher 1.7 ghz overclock and 600 mhz gpu. the clem kernals work on mine but i get fc on occasion and they also break the cam and do not support some micro sd cards. imho you will not find a better rom atm period though all the roms are very nice and people worked very hard to make them so try em and see what suits your taste buds, bud oh and i did find that my gps wasnt woring well but after flashing the agps patch it cleared right up.
Baked Blackbean 7 Tester :good:
I flashed all available Roms so far. Clean Rom is the best by miles.
Cleanrom runs good, nothing to complain about.
Running Blue Android 2.0, and clean fast.. .
Paranoid Android v2.54 with the modified Unter kernel. I've been running it since day 1 and love it!

I am using CM10.1. It is pretty stable and fast, and has new updates every day, adding new features and fixing bugs. Also, it's 4.2.1, which has its advantages. (and disavantages, the new UI sucks)
I've been using CaponmodTF the past few days, though I've tried cleanrom as well but CapmonTF is imo the smoothest of them all.
Swiping a page with the stock browser on this one has the smoothest experience. So I choose none of the list.
i voted Clean, but really miss PA...
incomplete list of choices
I've been running Energy Rom by NRGZ28, clean smooth & fast, have had no issues.
I'm on clean rom mostly so I can try the arch dual booting
Otherwise I'd be on a cm based rom
Probably jellybro

Now CM10.1 Nightlies......patiently *cough* waiting for KA06!
I was on Baked blackbean 6 then to CM 10.1 nightlies. Went to clean rom last night after I got the keyboard ($50 at office depo).
There are so many good things about each one of them: bb has rom control and customizations; CM10.1 with Android 4.2's new features; cleanrom for it's asus feel and keyboard compatability.
I am really happy with the development on this device!
CleanRom 1.8GHz is so sick.

Hello everyone! This is my first post but I am a long timeme user of the forums.
So normally I am pretty good with this stuff as I understand a lot about this but I simply can't find a good rom and kernel that is also ICS. Currently I have BrainMasters MIUI 2.3.7 ROM, with the MIUI Trinity kernel.
I tried a few ICS ROMs and I love ICS but all the roms have some sort of problem. Ultimate ICS 2 had constant lock ups on me and my phone doesn't take kindly to over clocking. At all. Cyanogen Mod alpha 18 works okay but it gets very slow once all my apps are on it and it barely multitasks. Apps seem to close whenever left making multi tasking useless. Another one I tried was one that was super charged but the problem here was all super charged ones have done is close the app if left for a few seconds again making multitasking void.
Currently this ROM works no problem but I want to very badly move to ICS goodness. Also if some one can help my phone over clock better that would be nice. Am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks, cheers.
Okay. Here are a few roma you have to try.
1) peter alfonso's ICS rom (download at download.peteralfonso.com then in the crespo section)
2) AndroidME rom v1.1 is in development section here on xda.
3) CM9 kangs. (Download from
http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/skankwich/crespo/ and use the latest g-apps from cm9 alfa18)
That are the roms i like the most. The peteralfonso rom is bugless.
But now im on androidME v1.1 with eugene's speedy-2 kernel. Speed, battery life and stability. Just what I need
Hope this helps..

Peter Alfonso's ROM (check general section) is good. Used it for two weeks without any hitch until i decided to explore other options. Currently on AOSP+ Neapolitan ICS 2.0.3 with no major complaints.
If you want other kernels, matrix and Glados have treated me well so far. I always OC to 200/1200 and have enough battery life for every day.
Even the stock ROM seems to have problems (for me the main issue is that battery is definitely worse than on GingerBread), maybe we should wait for a while to let things settle down.

real stable and fast ROM, maybe with eugene's kernel or GladOs 2.6
Pixel's stock rom with the Simply kernel were rock solid for me. I'm now trying Eugene's kernel with Pixels rom, and that also appears to be working very well!

Hi guys,
I decided I want to flash an ICS rom to my nexus S.
Question I have though, is what will work for my phone, which is a 9020A (AT&T) and what rom would give me the closest to stock ICS like what OTA ICS would be?
I was thinking cyanogenmod 9 but I have used CM7 and remembered it being sort of a hassle...
I really want the facial unlock feature if possible. I don't know if it's native in ics or what but I want that.
Tell me why you think the rom you suggest is best, please. I want to know what the pros and cons to it are. And links would be really nice!
Thanks!
stock ics
I'm happy with the stock 4.0.3, I tested Peter Alfonso nightlies lately but I was annoyed by his adjusted auto brightness however it seems to be very popular and smooth and fast.
Stock runs great on my i9023 and there are no killer features in any stock like rom yet imho. But I'm using a custom kernel which is imho always better than the stock kernel.
edit: face unlock is useless since it recognizes nothing and is less secure than a pin or a pattern
Im using the same model phone as you are and running cybergr ics v3. Its by far the best rom so far.. try it, he has alot of extra features.. daily rom. In a couple of days v4 is coming out.
I just flashed revolution HD 4.2.3 this morning with speedy 4 kernel and this is definitely the best combination I've used so far.

I still use the DrewGaren ROMS, they are plenty fast and stable, along with the latest Glados Kernel They seem to give me the best results.
Stand corrected. cybergr ics v3 is a really fast ROM, probably the fastest i've ever seen my phone, just need to update it to v2.8 Glados
Face Unlock is a cool feature. Unfortunately, our front camera is too bad to properly recognize faces. If you get lucky - in good light - you might be able to unlock it, but it really is no fun at all.

Works great. No radio flash needed. Install went smooth aside from a few derps on my part. Rom seems a bit laggy but I think it's just because it's reinstalling everything. other times it's blown me away by how fast it is. Face unlock works pretty well. love the interface. I can't believe it's android, its awesome!
I've tested almost every ICS rom's available and right now KANGY6 with MATRIX v14.5 CFS it's the best combo for me.
i'm getting 3000+ on Quadrant with 1.46Ghz OC
You may try the CYBERGR ROM it's also very stable and fast.

ok, I dun goofed. I think I restored a system app on accident thinking that it would restore my messages or something... but my mobile data quit working when i restored that stuff (multiple restores, but thought i was just restoring user apps not system). any idea how to fix the mobile data without re-flashing?
Edit: Fixed, but lost my conversations in my messaging. Oh well. At least the android gods love me again. Anyways this rom is great, it works perfectly! So smooth!
Hello, can someone comment on their experience (if any) on CleanRom 3.2.1 vs Hydro 5.1? I'm currently on CleanRom 3.2.1 ODEX version and is wondering if I'll be gaining anything if I switch to Hydro (seems like a lot more people like Hydro). What are the key differences and advantages?
Thanks in advance.
Used Cleanrom for 2 months i think, now installed latest Hydro.
Looks and feels pretty much the same. Speed depends more that what kernel are u using, i like Unters TF300 stock (1,6ghz)
And Hydro is cleaner, less useless apps etc (at least for me)
Make full backup and try it yourself
I will try install Hydro 6.0 in next week, becouse now I don't have enough time to do this. I'm currently useing CROMI 3.2.1 Odexed, it sometimes gets buggy. Can I Install Hydro 6.0 over CROMI 3.2 ??? Of course I would wipe system. I hate doing wipe data/ factory reset, but I will have to do this.

Running CleanROM 3.2.1 with Unters' kernel, might give Hydro a try if I get bored.
Tablet gets really hot while charging though. I don't want to end up with a melted charger (have heard horror stories)
My tablet has unters kernel the same as you, but my tablet is very Hot when I'm playing games. On stock tablet wasn't so hot. Will I can play in NFS Most Wanted 2 without any lags?

That is the BEST answer anyone can give you. You will never know until you try it I flash a million times before i find a ROM i like. I never stay on it for long either This is why i will NEVER own an apple device
I get 49fps in Epic Citadel (search from play store) with Surdus stock kernel (Installed from CROMI kernel installer)
and 55fps with Unters stock kernel. NFS Most Wanted is no problem :good:
from my experience when you first use hydro you think woah this is fast everything is clean ,works ,responsive, then as you keep updating it becomes slower , some app don't open , battery dies faster
with cleanrom its a more natural feel its just like stock except with some mod changes it really depends if you're into stock with changes or customization, overclock , etc

I've read about more bricks than the last time the three little pigs got together to ward off the big bad wolf. Rampant complaints about BT interfering with Wifi; complaints about the new launcher; issues with the tab reading microsd cards (I'm not giving up my 32gb card, no thank you very much).
What I haven't seen is anyone saying, "boy, I'm really happy I flashed 4.2.1."
Would like to hear what I'm missing from folks who are glad they did the deed.
No problems as of yet for me with stock 4.2.1 . I'm more content for now than happy.
I was on Cleanrom 3.3 with a custom kernal from "CleanROM Inheritance Kernels v2.0" oc'ed to 1.6. and running TWRP 2.4.1.0 at the time.
Downloaded 4.2.1 latest firmware from asus downloads Version WW_V10.6.1.8 (ww is suitable for my tf300)
extracted the blob and flashed it with TWRP 2.4.1.0 , didnt wiped Cache or Dalvik Cache.
I'm at fully stock bootloader and firmware v10.6.1.8 now
Everything seems to work ,
Havent used the camera much but but when I did it worked fine
Bluetooth and wireless work flawlessly together, I often watch movies over wireless with bsplayer pro and bluetooth headphones .
I have the dock and both my 32gig SDcard class 10 and 32gig microSD class 10 are working.
Games maybe not as smooth when using the custom overclocked kernal . ie Beach buggy blitz , grabatron , dead trigger
I do miss the slight overclock it had , but I'll patiently wait for the next TWRP and cleanrom update
Yep I agree. Is it really worth an upgrade? I'm running one of the older versions of CROMI and I'm very happy with it. It runs flawlessly. I also use a class 10 32gb sd card which I'm am not willing to give up.
As the release of the newest version of CROMI nears, I'm on the fence as whether or not I really want to go through with the upgrade just yet. I may just decide to wait awhile and see what everyone thinks about it. Time will tell.

I think it's worth it. This is what Android is all about. Update, customize and enjoy.
Asus TF300T, CleanROM Inheritance
It's worth it. I like it better. No hassle or aggravation here. Pure happiness.
I love 4.2.1 everything runs great and CROMI 4.0 is out and works great. I think all the things that make 4.2 is worth the upgrade if nothing else the core of android should be better.
I didn't expect the update to bring much improvements to be honest, but I find it surprisingly good. Loving the lockscreen widgets, camera and keyboard.

Boy, I'm really happy I flashed 4.2.1 and used it for about a week then flashed CROMI 4 last night . this update also proved that Asus is giving good after sales services and tf300t being the first non-nexus device to get 4.2. Those who got bricked are mostly people who didn't flash properly or used the wrong version of recovery or didn't full wipe ~ obviously if you used stock and locked bootloader you'll get 4.2 from OTA and have less chance if brick.
Sent from my ST25a using xda app-developers app
4.2 was great until I made 2 users and now everything seems laggy. Im not sure if having 2 accounts this much stress on the cpu/ram?
Dont know if i would have flashed it if i didnt have nvflash (i need that 4.1 bootloader) but the overall experence wasnt bad, no wifi troubles at all, stock 4.2 launcher is quite smooth (my tf101 with custom 4.2 runs smoother tho )
I really enjoy the 4.2 update, almost everything works flawlessly for me. It also seems more stable and responsive that 4.1.
The only complaint I have is that since updating I no longer receive delta updates from the play store; it is driving me crazy
But all in all, I wouldn't want to go back to 4.1.
I'm doing to downgrade the bootloader to 4.1 and install CM10.1
I'm having random freezes, reboots and extreme battery drain, I tried Stock 4.2.1, CHROMI 4.0, factory reset, etc.
It works ok for some hours, then things go bad.
Before downgrading I left the microsd card out, just for curiosity, and I'm going to testing for a few hours, but I'm not going to stop using the microsd.

I believe that you have meant CM 10.1, if not then go for the newest.
I'm running Dhollmen Kernel which I recommend. It's stable and have few nice things when it comes to OTGing.
Enable developer settings (hit build number in Device Information section few times) and set your scheduler/governor. I use SIO or ROW for scheduler and pegasusq for governor, but test and choose which one suits you best.
I would also recommend you to use different recovery. PhillZ Touch is my personal favorite.

PhillZ's recovery is modified CWM IIRC. I like it for it's touch accuracy, support for AROMA File Manager, and ADB root.
No problem, mate. Check other JB 4.2 rooms for their features. PAC seems to be popular. I prefer clean CM (it's fairly minimal, close to AOSP, I have flashable zip that removes some of the apps I don't use) with only few customizations. If it isn't the fastest solution it's at least good placebo. Official stable releases and updater are additional benefits.

I'm not sure what is "borrowed" from AOKP, but features from ParanoidAndroid are nice. It's hybrid UI with so-called Tablet Mode (like the one on stock ROM) and DPI control are mostly appealing to me. There is Pac-in-black switch too, and people seem to like inverted (or darkened) roms here.
Main con for me is too much everything. We get every feature from PA, CM and some from AOKP, which may be considered bloat (at least I do so). It hasn't got stable releases, need manual update downloads, and developer doesn't have the device.

MoKee RC3, based on CM10.1 with extra features (PIE, HALO, transparent navbar and status bar, list view animation). Rock solid as CM10.1. Not as complicated as PAC. Combined with Dhollmen Kernel, CrossBreeder script, V6 Supercharger + patched services.jar and manually Odex your framework+system apps. Scored around 7,500 in Antutu with 1.2GHz OC. I have about >150 apps installed.
