Hi, First sorry for my bad English... Im Spanish.. I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S wifi Player 4.0 YP-G1.When I bought it the firmware was Froyo 2.2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Number Compilation FROYO.XXKE1
and the Samsung Kies Gave me this:
Firmware: PDA:KE1 CSC:KE1 (XEE)
I want to update to Gingerbread But the OTA and Samsung KIES says me the I have the lasttest firmware... I want to update to One Rom of Gingerbread or other Rom because i think that its better than this FROYO... I can update the android with any Rom?? *****How I can do this?****
I read in other post that only USA devices can do Root or can put other ROM but I Dont know if my device is USA
Sorry for the post Im very noob but I want a faster device...
Sorry for my bad English too..
Thanks For All
Looks like you're in the wrong device forum... though there isn't actually one for yours, since it's not a very popular model. However, there's a thread in the Galaxy S I9000 Q/A for people to share their information. Might have better luck trying those ROMs.
I don't even think it's a phone. Sounds like a media player.

Has anyone flashed this on i9000 or i897?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055591
that is for nexus s.
nothing more needs to be said. would never work
I guess no one has ever ported app's to other devices?
since it is really only the update to google talk we are interested in not the radio and other b.s.
apps yes, kernels (from complete different devices) no.
so the 2.3.4 rom is useless without the kernel
otherwise we would have 3.0 honeycomb ported from honeycomb devices, and then we would say screw 2.3.4
its more than just the gtalk. otherwise it would just be an app update!
not saying that it would work but, there is no kernel in that update.
we would need top modify it EG: take out the radio.

understand sarcasm much? i was not being serious there.
but since you bring it up..... yes its for tablets but technically honey has no hardware requirements.... but its not being done
=======================
but back to OP question " if anyone flashed the firmware released "
cant flash it as is.
parts can be ripped and ported yes. to cm7 or anything, gtalk already done.
but cant flash that "samsung firmware" as it is.
like i said post 2

Unless you installed a front facing camera on your galaxy s, 2.3.4 would be pointless (even if it was possible). Stick with 2.3.3 for now. I hear some very un-official rumors about 2.4 coming late this year or mid next year.

Read up.
Then read a bit more.
Then I'd suggest waiting. We have Gingerbread coming to us from ATT next month. Put further questions in the Q and A forum.

Hello, I have unlocked my bootloader with fastboot cmd-easy
I rooted with superoneclick can't remember version but worked good
I put rom manager on gingerbread and flashed clockworkmod version 5.x-worked great then i got peter Alfonso most current ICS rom...then flashed the radio specific to the koodo network, 4.0.3...
And here is the info if needed
Nexus S
At&t version
Koodo mobility
Baseband-I9020AUCKB2
Kernal V.- 3.0.8-gb55e9ac
[email protected] #1
Build-IML74K
Anyhow I was wondering what Kernal would work and what the difference in kernels are and learn abit more being I'm new to samsung customization and what have you and as of now ICS is working like a charm haven't tried a battery test, but performance is nice fast and easy to use mind menus and launcher is abit lagging at times but over all quick and pretty, also face lock is slooooow... And the live effects in camera, is that only for video or wasn't it also for stills but cool either way lol
Please be kind i get a little spacey at times and like if you can't get where I'm going here just ask... I am like i said new to the nexus s
Thank you and have a great day...

this doesnt belong in the development section. check the q&a section for other similar threads(there are many). also, check the general section too, for kernel comparisons and benchmarks(Bedalus started some nice threads there).
come on people just read where you post your threads.!!!!
Ok I apologize, as I said still fairly new to the forums...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Precedent (SCH-M828C) running 2.2. I would like to upgrade it to 4.3. Is this possible?
I could be wrong, but I do believe in order to get to 4.x You have to already be on 4.0+. I assume 2.2 is too big of a leap. Though I could be wrong if a ROM has been developed for your phone, though after a quick google search I find nothing =\
Sorry bud, may have to invest in a new phone.
Ya I think its possible but u have to download custom rom for 4.3....
