I've bricked my phone please help me PLEASE! - HTC One S

I'm not a noob by the way so this is quite worrying. I tried downgrading my hboot by following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990043 and it just wouldn't work. The phone kept waiting and waiting so in the end I've given up and I want to bring my phone back to life. I have no Idea how! Obvsiouly it's annoying because it was a manual brick. You have to brick it to downgrade your hboot. How the hell do I get out of this mess. If anyone can help me get my phone back to life I will be eternally greatful!!! Absolutely no response from the phone, no light no nothing it is purposely bricked.

Yep we know you a noob by post here and not in the downgrade thread lol. You got 2 things you can do and that is start over and try again or go to step 12 but before doing that post in the right thread just to make sure it.

Not really when more people will se an individual thread in the general section than a post in a thread I've retried the steps. The first step where you have to keep spamming terminal to show devices isn't working I keep disconnecting QDL mode and I only get about 4 dev/sdas coming up instead of the big paragraph that is supposed to come up. I've restarted my computer several times and it's not working/ I am SCREWED!

If you got ls /dev/sd* to work in the past and can remember what it said you can skip that.

Sounds like your bootloader is locked... If its not then try starting the process with jet evita downgrade...

I had to restart ubuntu after running killp so it would show Qualcomm QDL MODE. After that be sure to hold power down until QUALCOMM QDL MODE disappears then type ls /dev/sd* press enter in terminal. Now press up arrow then enter again. Keep doing that until partitions show up. Keep in mind you need to do this while QDL MODE disappears...
If this doesn't work to show partitions then download the jet evita zip. Unzip to home. In terminal
cd to jet location. Next
chmod +x jet
Sudo ./jet -d
This will wake device to determine /dev/sd location. Mine said /dev/sde. This means that my locations were sde12 and sde4

Tried the jet evita tool and it says cannot find emmc partitions so that doesn't work. For the main commands I've tried Sdb12 sdc12 and sdd12 and ALL I get is waiting device. I've also done the next step where you try and manually reset it and instead of sdb4 I've put in sb12 agan and sdc12 etc. I don't know what's going on!

Did you relock the bootloader before attempting to downgrade? It sounds like it is locked... I know this cuz I bricked my last one S in QDL MODE lol. The only way I've heard to fix is with JTAG box. A locked bootloader would be the reason why it can't find the emmc partitions. If your one S is Tmous try sde12 and sde4...mine and my wife's were the same and are both Tmous. When it says waiting for device hold power until you see QDL MODE go away then it should pick it up...

When it says waiting on device did you try holding power for at least ten seconds? That worked for me. Took me awhile but down graded today.

I give up

I've been trying to get JB on my phone for a while now. I went back to completely stock and got the OTA. Downloaded and I thought it installed. Rebooted, still gingerbread. So I rerooted from scratch. Installed Codename Android on it. Booted up and was running fine for about 5 minutes, at this point I had only signed in to google. Hadn't restored or reloaded any apps. It rebooted on me again. Now. I can't get /sdcard to mount. Fastboot is saying I have no boot.img or recovery, But I can get scroll and click on recovery from that menu. I can't get the ****ing phone to do anything now. I've had this thing rooted since day 1. I'll be honest I really don't know how to use ADB.
Does anyone have any clue how to fix my damn phone?
Format SD through settings, Odin to stock and try again. This time read the instructions carefully... all of them.
Edit: Also make sure drivers are working for adb. Before moving on to another pc, I spent hours one day trying to get adb to work on one of my thinkpads. For whatever reason, I could not get the pad to recognize phone through adb.

I'm going to have to take a look when I get to my mother in laws. Has anyone tried asking a developer for the Pantech Burst? There may be a simple solution to the issue that we are overlooking.
Sent from my PantechP8010 using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: Also, maybe the recovery partition has a type of lock? Similar to S-ON maybe? I'm going to ask some Pantech Burst developers to see what they have to say.
From doing a few searches with the error it seems to come up often in Pantech phones (other brands as well). It could be the version of CWM or it could just be a locked bootloader issue, or just a bootloader issue. I'm not sure myself but I'm getting my netbook set up with Mint and ditching the VM so I can find out myself.
Sent from my PantechP8010 using Tapatalk 2
EDIT: My VM is up and running now and I'm going to explore. From what I've gathered so far we need to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash anything to the partitions, this can be done with "fastboot oem unlock" I don't know if that command is going to be that easy but I'm going to check it out! If that fails then were going to need to tackle the bootloader first, also for the recovery, Rootzwiki has been a great source, and they have a tutorial for everything we are looking into, there is a command but I can't remember it right now in fastboot that allows us to boot partitions without them effecting the phone. We should try booting the recovery to see if it works, if it works we may need to flash something in the recovery to unlock the bootloader. I might be completely wrong but hopefully the unlock command works.

yeah sounds right youve had an evo before idk when but if ur one of the early users of the froyo root method we had to unlock a bootloader using a certain comand in adb to be able to downgrade to an earlier 2.2 that was rootable before the one clicks came out ill try to find that old evo tutorial and find that command lol there was a video i belive with it and the rootz wiki is what my other link on the other page was supposed to send u to i guess i missed a couple of words in the URL on that other page lol good luck to you keep us updated im glad the flex has gotten a community like ours that can use examples to start from scratch
Command should be "fastboot boot recovery.img". User attn1 from the burst developers said if it boots the recovery we should be able to install it with the recovery. I can also use fastboot on Windows in case anyone is interested. Also can we get the custom CWM posted?

Yeah, I actually joined the IRC channel and left a message, he was nice enough to reply back right after I got off of work. I'm probably going to be pretty busy up until Friday with work, I took a lot of time off for other reasons but I'm going to try to work on unlocking the bootloader when I can. Fastboot can be used in Windows just installed the Google USB drivers that come with the SDK and all is well.
We just need a custom CWM which I guess I'm going to start working on unless noobfordroid can post his.

Can't unlock bootloader after relock

Hello,
I'm having trouble re-unlocking my bootloader. I relocked it to try to use the telus ruu but the ruu failed (I think because i forgot to flash the recovery) however. now I cannot unlock the bootloader. It accepts my bin but then Just keeps showing relocked and I can't flash anything....
Anyone try this or have any ideas?
I'm thinking I can't unloack the bootloader cuz I have no recovery for a factory reset and I can't flash a recovery cuz I'm relocked... Am I right? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

What method are you using for the unlock key? I don"t think you can use the same key twice. Try starting the unlock process from scratch and getting a new unlock code from HTC.

I managed to re-unlock it by continuously trying, powering off the phone, powered back on, eventually it re-unlocked.. I guess it's just glitchiness. In case anyone else has this issue they can reference this.

Incorrect, you can use the same key over and over.
The process is just glitchy, as the OP has found. Sometimes the key will work on the first try, sometimes it takes 10 tries (whether unlocking the first time, or re-unlocking).

Hold power until the phone shuts off, then press and hold volume down until bootloader comes up, then try again, over and over untuil it works.
It took me something like 30 tries before it worked.

It's after this step:
fastboot flash zip PJ8312000-OneX.zip
It doesn't flash the zip file properly. I was expecting that “FAILED (remote: 92 supercid! please flush image again immediately)” error as stated in instructions, but I receive an ERROR 99.
I will go home in a few minutes and try to re-unlock it again and go through the whole process. I've tried unlocking it so many times already...HTC drives me nuts.
If you get the error 99, try simulating a battery pull and start the process again.

Yes try again, that also takes several tries sometimes, Easiest to do on a sense rom and if you run into the issue, again the best thing to do is hold power until the phone shuts off and then try again (this simulates a battery pull).
If you have further issues, post in this thread.

Yes try again, that also takes several tries sometimes, Easiest to do on a sense rom and if you run into the issue, again the best thing to do is hold power until the phone shuts off and then try again (this simulates a battery pull).
If you have further issues, post in this thread.

This worked right away! I wish I had posted before the 4 hours of trying to trouble shoot...
You're a miracle worker.
I tried S-Off and received this message at the step of entering the last 3 commands to complete S-Off..
adb shell su -c "/data/local/tmp/soffbin3"
/system/bin/sh: not found

[Q] Phone - Caution - PC Loop, Bricked?

So I just want confirmation of what I fear. I think I bricked my T959W by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546 before doing my homework (for shame).
After getting past the root phase the phone turned on and I was getting ready to load a CWM or something but the phone locked up.
So I pulled the battery and went in to download mode. Then Odin connected but I accidentally pulled the USB.
So now I am at the aforementioned Phone-Triangle-PC loop. I have tried USB Jig without success.
So I have read over 40 post on this and my conclusion is it most likely I need to send it in for a JTAG Repair. As I most likely fudged the bootloader.
I am posting this only because no one has posted these exact symptoms that I could find.
Thanks

Ok it seems to be "saved" I had not realized there are 2 download modes. At any rate when I attempted those heimdall guides, one click and using the frontend. It started displaying the large triangle download screen. I cannot boot into recovery still, I may need help on this front.
Now before I move on could I get pointed at ROM/Guide that will get me operational again? I am a bit gun shy after this.
Thanks again,
Jon
Any of the ones on the first page in the development forum for this device.

So I managed to get CWM-recovery working. Yay
Only problem is I can't mount the sd card. And so I cannot load a ROM from it. I will be looking into this but I felt I should update.
Done and thank you
Great success! Turns out my sd card was corrupt fortunately I have an abundance of them.
Thanks for the help, you may allow this thread to die now.

Actually sir. I had this same problem. But i fixed it myself ^_^ Google is a awesome tool. What i had to do is Re-flash a kernel and rom. I pulled the plug in download mode. Took me about 12 hours of reserch and work to FINALLY fix it. Is your phone the SGH-T959V? If so i still have all the stuff you need i do believe.

I have Found the files that you need to flash through Odin
I can instruct you how to download SDK tools and use command prompts to Put your phone in Download mode.
It would be my pleasure. I definately do believe both of our phones are pretty much exactly the same. Id be more than happy to help another XDA member out. Post back or PM me for instructions.

[Q] CANNOT get LG PC Suite to recognize device!

So my phone got stuck in a boot loop after setting a custom font in ifont and rebooting. I have been trying for literally 4 hours to get the LG PC Suite to work so that I can unroot and hopefully get my phone to boot. Well I have tried EVERYTHING. Uninstalled and reinstalled the suite several times, unplugged and replugged in the phone from both the computer and phone end. Tried different USB ports, a different USB cable. Uninstalled and reinstalled device drivers. NOTHING WORKS. It downloads all the drivers fine EXCEPT for the Android MTP Device driver, which I'm assuming is the issue. For the love of god HOW do I get it to work? I was really banking on this method because I do not have a custom recovery or backup of my system (since it's not currently possible) and don't want to lose my data. Or is there another reliable method that works without the loss of data? Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure I can help at all, but can you boot your phone into the recovery or download mode? Maybe you could adb pull from your phone to get data. I know it's in a bootloop but maybe it only Loops when it attempts to load os

Hey, it's the thought that counts. The fact that you're even trying to help is greatly appreciated, so thank you =] I can get into recovery but the only option it gives me is to do a factory reset, which I don't want to do at all but definitely not before unrooting the device first. Don't want to cause any more problems. I don't really know much about ADB, I read a little about it earlier but to my understanding to use it as a method it has to be preinstalled prior to bootloop or bricking. And I have never installed it. Maybe I read something wrong, so correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I got from it. I have been at this all day. I am going crazy without my phone! =[ lol
Ok, follow this link. Read direction, then once you've done that come back and ask follow up questions. Adb doesn't get installed on the phone at all. I would do an adb pull and pull my data for backup, then wipe phone and start over. But let's see if we can't avoid wipe.

After reading your comment again I I under stand what you meant by "install it first" in guessing you didn't activate developer mode and usb debugging on the phone prior to boot loop.

Well thanks for your help! Yeah I think developer mode was activated at the time of the bootloop but I'm not even sure it would matter, anyway?
However I did install ADB and fastboot. Just trying to figure out where to go from there now. Don't know what to type into cmd. It's worth a shot. If I can figure out what to type. Don't really have anything to lose at this point. lol
